Easily one of the best games of this generation. Don’t listen to the naysayers (they clearly are either just listening to the review bombers or haven’t played past the first area). It’s a different type of game. It’s not COD. It’s not Fornite. It’s not a goddamned walking simulator. What it is is an awesome gaming experience unlike anything you’ve played.

Absolutely amazing. The slow burn is just what I wanted in a game. The setting, environments, story , music and unique gameplay are absolutely great. And the gameplay is surprisingly fun. Probably my favorite open world game to date. This is not for people who only like action filled repetitive shooters. This game is for the open-minded thoughtful players

So, apparently, some people don't know that youtube reviews are a thing or have come from the eighties, when we bought games without really knowing.

This game isn't divisive. The larger portion of players have US culture shoved up so far up their asses they don't recognize the smell of feces in it anymore. When something different appears they think it's bad because it doesn't conform to the typical narrative and gameplay style. If this game was made with their mindset, Sam would be building bridges and uniting people by killing and blowing up stuff.

instead of the actual repetitive gameplay people accuse this game of, Kojima is telling a story that uses Sam's job as courier as a framing device, while preaching about union and interdependence. No wonder the game would be 'divisive'... People from the US have convinced themselves that they are too independent and modern isolationist culture doesn't help, where people changed interrelationship with social media. Ironic, considering the game's mechanics and constant use of holography. Probably intentional.

Complaining that the game is repetitive is akin to complaining that all you do in any game is push buttons on a controller or saying that people keep shooting each other in FPS games. Curious how this BS only surfaces when people don't like the game. It's about practical problem-solving in relation to plotting routes and getting cargo where it needs to be, while facing threats and ensuring that stuff isn't delivered damaged.

    Story-wise, it is a Kojima-brand delight.

The graphical quality is not the best, but it is enough with the style of games Kojima has always made. There is no room to complain, with well used effects and well crafted maps and locations.

The soundtrack shines as bright as the story.

The only real bad thing is the asinine criticism and the fact that it is an exclusive.

Death Stranding to me is an absolute masterpiece and one of my favorite video games I've ever played. Its so freaking unique and I love it! Its such a nice of breath air from my years of shooters I've played. A common description you could see is "Death Stranding is boring" or "Death Stranding is a walking simulator". Before the game even came out even I was worried I would be too bored of the gameplay but I ended up actually loving the gameplay! To me it is fun, challenging, engaging and quite frankly addicting. I absolutely love the Social Strand System where the players structures show up in others worlds! It is such an innovative and awesome idea to me. Reaching my destination is so satisfying especially when it includes a piece of the game's amazing soundtrack. One of the best soundtracks I've ever heard! Also an underrated part of all games is the sound design, which Death Stranding also has one of the best I've ever heard. Sound design is so hard to nail down and Kojima Productions has incredible audio design and incredible artwork. At some points in the game, it is the best looking game I've ever seen. The story I also love, especially the ending. It is absolutely mind blowing to me how much effort was put in to make this world feel real. So much detail in the history and descriptions.

I really don't have any negative aspects I can even think of. I kinda wish some of the characters were more interesting and more complex but Sam Porter Bridges and Clifford Unger, especially Cliff, make up for them. I totally understand why people don't like this game because they don't like the game play or the story is too slow or confusing for them.

Death Stranding constantly challenges your perception of what video game are about. It takes you on a spectacular journey where you, as Sam "Porter" Bridges strive to connect America again.

Death Standing is not a game like anything else really, the pacing is methodical, the story is deep and rich in nuance and the gameplay loop is steady but rewarding. If you came to Death Stranding looking for yet another example of a modern open world game with lots of shooting you are sure to get disappointed quickly. In this game you plan your routes, take careful steps everywhere you go and above all else - strive to be the best courier the world has ever seen. What that fully entails however is for the player to experiment and explore for themselves.

Death Stranding will NOT be for everyone, of this I'm very certain. Its core mechanics are complicated, intricate and takes both time and effort to learn and enjoy. Once you do find your own stride in this vast world you will begin to feel the weight on your shoulders and what it is to fight mother nature itself. The game throws you everywhere, literally. You've stacked your stash-tower too high because you got greedy and wanted to take several missions in one go? Well, you just fell face forward down the hill and managed to drop all your loot into the nearby lake... Oh, you think you could just run past the BT's and not care much about slowing down and finding the best way out? Boom, you just got grabbed by goo:ey monsters and now you're in a fight or flight situation for your life. Death Stranding in its essence feels like something new, something fresh and very much alive. The incredible "strand system" where others people's items and equipment travels into your wold and connect other people's progress into yours and vice versa feels absolutely amazing. Several times have I seen someone start to build a big monumental bridge so that I can help out with materials to build it up fully. Hours later you come by the same bridge and now that everyone's been chipping in with raw materials to help build it, a full community of players seem to have been using it frequently to have a safe-way path over the treacherous river.

To end my review I just want to say that Death Stranding may be one of the strangest video game experiences of my grown up life. I will most likely not play anything like this ever again and this makes me sad knowing. The game industry, especially in the AAA-department has been feeling rather stale for years! The same ideas thrown around with the occasional golden gem getting chipped. A game like this could only be made by an incredible talent and it's very clear to me why so many industry icons feel that Kojima is on another level.

At the end of the day games are meant to be enjoyed - For me, Death Stranding has throughout my 30+ hours been an incredible. fascinating and almost cathartic experience. I absolutely love and adore it. 10/10!

Game of the decade material. Everything about this game is a 10 excluding driving and gun mechanics. The story will have you in tears at the end. A ending that will definitely stick with me forever.

Driving seemed to be an afterthought when having to get over rough terrain. Shooting and aiming is ok, but small details are important, and it lacks that. No bullet holes from guns etc.

Video games do not have to be fun to be great, and while, yes, this game is more often than not tedious, overblown, and self-indulgent, it's art in m eyes, and my emotional connection and visceral reactions to this game are why I consider it a flawed masterpiece that confounds me as to why/how it even exists, but I am nonetheless happy that it does exist.

Death Stranding is creating a new game genre and therefore paves its own path towards more interactive experiences. It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it. This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
