    Just finished my 50+hr playthrough, and wow! I have never played anything like Death Stranding before. The storyline was incredible and although it was slow at the beginning, after 8 hrs, the gameplay became addicting as well.
    This is easily one of my favorite videogame experiences of all time. Thank you Kojima!

Радует, что приходится думать, планировать, рассчитывать свой путь, грамотно подбирать амуницию, который много и вся так или иначе пригождается. Сетевая часть отличное дополнение к геймплею, дарит чувствоещё не прошёл до конца, но сделаю это без сомнения. И не только потому, что хочется увидеть сюжет полностью. Игра действительно увлекает своим геймплеем, разнообразием возможностей. Радует, что приходится думать, планировать, рассчитывать свой путь, грамотно подбирать амуницию, который много и вся так или иначе пригождается. Сетевая часть отличное дополнение к геймплею, дарит чувство сопричастности с другими людьми и не слабо так помогает при прохождении. Те, кто говорят, что игра симулятор ходьбы и ставят ей 0 или 1 понятие не имеют о чем говорят и вряд ли вообще запускали игру. Геймплей если и мучительный, только в контексте мучительно интересный, а красота графики и местный саундтрек на высшем уровне. Играл от Кодзимы только в MGS V. Прямо скажем, не зашла та игра. Это я к тому, что не фанат. Играется игра гораздо интереснее, чем просто смотреть на неё из-за плеча и ее геймлей на крутится вокруг перестрелок. Но если вы не планируете до старости играть в плюс-минус одни и тебе игры, то я бы советовал купить эту или хотя бы не рушить рейтинг, если даже не играл ( стримы смотреть и играть это очень разные вещи)… Expand

    Absolutely one of the best games I have ever played. A completely new game of it's own action adventure genre. I am so absolutely in love with this game. First Kojima game and this game beats my favorite game of all time The Witcher 3, completely deserving of a 10 out of 10.

But hey some of us have to corporate shill. This game has poor controls. When you go to climb down the ladder you just appear on it I stead if actually climbing on to it. I feel sorry for all the people that had to pay full retail price for this game. It wont last 3 months. The truth will come out. Games like this are the reason the gaming industry and hollywood will become 1 one day. No more will gameplay matter as long as you can think up some shotty crackpot concept.     Its all the tropes of an open world fetch/delivery quest loop without any of the fun attached that other games have done well. Dont forget about how horrible the control is. Game insists upon itself and is just weird for the sake of it. tries too hard to be art. Possibly the worst game kojima has directed.

    This is a great game being overlooked by all of the hype based off of the 10s and 0s you can tell exactly what's going on. Of course this is nothing like MGS, if it was he might have just made a 6th sequel don't you think?     Having seen all the reviews I feel like I took a risk when purchasing this game but at the same time I kind of knew I would like it for alot of the reason people didn’t like it, I personally like slow paced movies and tv, so when hearing about its repetitive gameplay i i dove further into my research and i can admit watching someone play it can be boring and feel tedious, but ive reallyHaving seen all the reviews I feel like I took a risk when purchasing this game but at the same time I kind of knew I would like it for alot of the reason people didn’t like it, I personally like slow paced movies and tv, so when hearing about its repetitive gameplay i i dove further into my research and i can admit watching someone play it can be boring and feel tedious, but ive really liked the challenge of the scan system and having to pay attention where i walk, it almost feels as though im in a lord of the rings movie at times because these delivery's feel important. I absolutely love the online component of this game ive already come across alot of help from the DS community and its especially appreciated when im in serious need of a charge or find a short cut bridge across a strong lake. Kojima and his team created something fresh and exciting and I truly hope DS will be a precursor for future games that focus on this kind of storytelling by combining current social trends with riveting character presentation. The loneliness one feels throughout the game is so fitting into today's social media world, where the hunt for likes and views quiets the humble thrive and longing for real connections. Kojima tells stories like no other and keeps this mood of reflection throughout the entire game, masterfully underscored by an amazing soundtrack.… Expand

    É um jogo bom mas nem todos vão gostar. É bem lento, você passa a maior parte do tempo andando, entregando do ponto A ao B, lidando com EPs e MULAs. No momento tenho 15 horas de jogo e acho bem difícil de jogar mais de 3-4 horas por dia dele pois a gameplay é bem repetitiva e cansa depois de um tempo. Mas pontos como trilha sonora, sons, ambientação, gráficos, cinemáticas e a história sãoÉ um jogo bom mas nem todos vão gostar.     I'm only at Chapter 3 of Death Stranding but have lost myself completely in it's desolate world. It's haunting, melancholic, deep, uplifting and surreal. It's nothing I've ever experienced in any game and I find it so refreshing.

    Not all games have to be a shooter, a brawler, hack and slash, etc. This is something else. I can see how it may not appeal to a majority of gamers who define games in their traditional genres.

    However, if you are a mature and open-minded gamer who enjoys good music and narrative, a beautiful world, and are patient to learn a new style of gameplay, you will be rewarded.

    There are no words for the emotions and feelings I had after a long and arduous climb up a mountain full of invisible BTs, carrying 100kg of important goods, when Silent Poets' "Asylums for the Feelings" started playing on my descent.

    Pure, magical experience I cannot get from any media. Thank you Mr. Kojima and co. Thank you very much. Here's a Like to you sir!    … Expand

While many people criticize the game for being a repetitive and tedious chore of a game, i actually quite enjoyed the game from time to time, even when its boring. The gameplay largely involves of walking from point A to point B, and just from that alone, i can see why alot ofDeath Stranding is the latest game from Hideo Kojima and its safe to say that its his most divisive game yet. While many people criticize the game for being a repetitive and tedious chore of a game, i actually quite enjoyed the game from time to time, even when its boring. The gameplay largely involves of walking from point A to point B, and just from that alone, i can see why alot of people dont like the game. But even then, i just got attached to the gameplay loop and it actually got pretty addicting, the reason being that its probably because of the risk and reward that the game offers.

    The open world and the traversal kinda reminded me of Breath Of The Wild which is kinda weird seeing that DS's open world is pretty barren compared to BOTW's, but i think thats why i really like it, but i probably wouldnt have liked the open world or hell, the game as a whole as much if it werent for the online system that the game has. In my opinion, this is an online system done really well for a single-player focused game. Its pretty similiar to the online system of Dark Souls but its more akin to Nier: Automata in my opinion, where players can help each other by donating their items for other players or create structures together so everybody can use it. Its actually a pretty good system once you understand how it works.

    Now, since this is a Kojima game, we of course have to talk about the story. From the moment this game was announced back in 2016, the story was what intrigued me the most, and well what do i think of it? Well after years of waiting, In my opinion, the story of Death Stranding is just not as good as Kojima's previous works. Its better than MGS V that's for sure, but when comparing it to Mgs 1, 2, 3, and even 4 to a certain extent, there's just something missing that i'm not really sure what it is. That being said though, i still like the story as a whole when it introduces new and interesting concepts just not when its being overly pretentious at times. Though if you are currently playing the game, i highly suggest you complete it, even if you dont like the gameplay loop and the earlier story segments because the game and the story in particular really gets bettter towards the end and around the 20-ish hour mark is where the story got really interesting in my opinion.

    One last thing i wanna mention in this review is the soundtrack, which is probably the best thing about the game in my opinion besides the visuals. There are some really great moments in the game that i dont wanna spoil that wouldn't have work as good if the music werent there. From the OST's to the songs from Low Roar, it's really awesome and it adds so much to the game's atmosphere.

    So to round up this review, Death Stranding is a game that i really enjoyed even with its faults. The story is great even though its obnoxiously pretentious at times. The gameplay loop, while boring at times, can be pretty addicting thanks to its world design and online system. The visuals are really great and can be mesmerizing even though there's no day-night cycle which is a a shame. And the soundtrack is the best that i've heard all year. I really wanted to gave this game a 9 or hell it could even be a 10 at some point, but there's just quite a few problems holding it back from being a 9 or a 10, which is why i'm giving this an 8. i wanted to give it an 8.5 but unfortunately metacritic doesnt allow decimal review user scores.    … Expand

    It is one of the best games i have ever played, the only time that i was addicted to a game like this was with the witcher 3 where the more hours i put in the more satiesfied i am. After completing chapter 2, it becomes addictive. How the game is constantly giving you tools to fight against BT's, MULES, and the terrain it's just fun. Even after completing the story i'm unlocking new things. (75 hours by now) the plot twist at the end it's just incredible, I think that this game will be a classic in a few years. The sense of traveling alone but not completely alone is heartwarming and its message it's beautiful. One of the best experiences i've played in all my life.… Expand

    * Driving around the United Cities of America (cause the USA in the game are No More) is horrible. The vehicles just lack of physics and of proper control.

    * The combat system is poor, tiring and repetitive. Three punches is what it takes to take out your enemy. Although there are points for going in stealth, it's a total waste of time. You want to play something Stealth? Better play Hitman.

    * There is a good variety of weapons but i never used them apart in boss fights cause it's easier to run over your enemies with the truck and get **** done.

    The good parts:
    * The network features and their interactions are GREAT and innovative. Other people can help you out throughout your journey. Either by setting up ladders, or by laying down roads and leaving equipment or parts for you to help you out. You can do the same and there you contribute in general, which is awesome.

    * Stunning graphics.

    * I found the game sometimes relaxing. Cause when I was out for deliveries I was just entertained with the parts that I had to surpass obstacles, climb mountains, set up ladders and using my climbing equipment.

    * What also kept me going were the upgrades from time to time, which indeed help you on your quest. Otherwise I would have quit playing in the first 20 hours.    … Expand

It's a game about helping others. Even in the smallest way or in a huge dramatic way. I've spent over 20 hours in this game and I'm only on chapter 3. As you play the world opens and expands and brings new gadgets and gizmos to make the journey even more enjoyable. Walk into this game. Don't run. And take a journey through America.

    Honestly, I felt very boring when playing the first chapter. But after getting more equipments and knowing the story, I just noticed that I'd totally addicted to the game!

    Today I just finished all the chapters. It's a very good game, worth to play it for sure.

    What happens when hideo kojima just wants to make films now and comes up with the concept of playing as a postman? You get the same mission 5000 times while you wait for the next interesting story bit. Coming from a fan of mgs I'm not annoyed this feels so different. I'm annoyed it feels like nothing much has replaced those gameplay sections in mgs that made them so interesting

    The main thing for me, is how I'm simply addicted to delivering cargo. It sounds simple, but there's something incredibly satisfying about taking on an order of cargo, planning your route, the tools you'll need, and making your delivery without a scratch, knowing that your planning paid off when you get an S rating.

    I can see how this game might not be for everyone but it I personally think it is a highly ambitious attempt at a new single-player game and it'd be a shame not to give it a go if you've got a PS4. Particularly if you're a fan of Kojima's unique, creative weirdness. Go for it.    … Expand

It really starts being difficult to get around - BTs, terrorists everywhere, rough terrain, a lot of deep rivers with strong current. Basically, the world becomes your enemy, anywhere you go. Every step is a challenge that you need to plan ahead for and think about. Every second you need to be on your toes.
    It really took cooperation what needed to be dozens of players to find materials and build roads, safe houses, generators, etc. along the supply line. The feeling when we completed road going through the entire area was just priceless. What was a wasteland full of deadly traps became an area where you could drive your e-bike freely and safely.
    And that's what I guess does it for me. This unprecedented system of players cooperating together, finally, not to kill a bunch of enemies, but in a positive way, helping each other to stay alive and to make life easier. The sheer positivity of providing others means to scale mountains or cross rivers more easily, and the satisfaction of knowing how many people used the road that YOU built.
    That's where Kojima really nailed it IMO.    … Expand

    I can't honestly say what it is about Death Stranding that keeps me coming back but it just feels good. A feel good game. Takes your mind off things. Definitely puts you in a different world. Just enjoy it for what it is. Very well made and very well polished. Don't rush it, collect the upgrades and enjoy the benefits.

    I honestly do not understand the hatred this game has garnered. It is the most unique single player story game I have played in so long in a market saturated with AC and Uncharted-like action adventure titles. This is no "movie game" by any stretch, it is a fully realized masterpiece of a game that will, (I think) get it's recognition down the road for doing something so bold and rewarding

Also, there is plenty of opportunities for action sequences but the main point of the game is figuring out how to navigate the insane environment of Death Stranding.

    Fantastic music, cutscene. New understanding of gameplay, and connecting with other players is such a great idea. After 10 hour of playing I just finished the first two chapter, but I am totally inside the story. It's the game of year for me and I hope it will be. I am glad to have a chance to play such a masterpiece.

I am referring to one of the most divisive video game of this generation, Death Stranding. This is Hideo Kojima's first project outside Konami, the mega corporation that has nurtured him. The end result is probably the biggest budgeted 'Indie' video game of all time. It's an anti thesis of what Kojima has tried in the past. The MGS series is about a soldier of war who couldn't escape a cycle of violence, so much so that it is 'literally' embedded in his DNA, where his progeny continued his violent tendency ad nauseaum. Sam Porter Bridges, on the other hand, is the ultimate delivery man in a post apocalyptic world. He is essentially a pacifist, and hence, Death Stranding ends up being the most non violent game of this generation. He is not a killer and his job is simply to connect people that are separated from this horrific event. It is incredibly well produced, a killer cast in the form of Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen, and has incredible production values that create an incredibly immersive experience. Yet it has its flaws. Like The Phantom Menace, Kojima and Lucas are too much in awe of their own world building, sacrificing the essence of their own medium: its narrative propulsion and in Kojima's case, the gameplay. Yet, we sort of know what Kojima tries to do: to upend the notion of an open world game and to break the 'monotony' of current AAA games and its samey approach. I have to admit, all these 'open world' games felt essentially the same: a product of astronomical budget and its pressure to make a 'profit'. Death Stranding may not work in many places, but Kojima's insistence to create something 'new' is commendable. Let's say that this is a pixelated walking simulator akin to the original NES' MGS, made by an Indie studio, then people may consider this a 'masterpiece'. But coming from one of the biggest name in gaming? Well, an obvious head scratcher there. Still worth a look, but players be warned, it is not the blockbuster 'action-vaganza' that many are looking for.… Expand

    FPS, the most crowded genre. to get a good review, you have to innovate. this game does not. it has terrible open worlds, bad controls, and highly repetitive gameplay. its clear that the big critics are corporate first consumer last for giving this praise. just another bad PS4 game.

    Death Stranding is creating a new game genre and therefore paves its own path towards more interactive experiences. It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it.     This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
