    Great point of view on the Earth history starting from the Big Bang. Quite revolutionary gameplay. Very good and not predictable plot. I would set 9 to this game but because of review bombing setting 10 to fix this not fair situation. TOMORROW IS IN YOUR HANDS!

    Лучшая игра в этом унылом для игровой индустрии 2019 году. Арт-проект. Не понимаю почему у игроков так бомбит с того что в игре абсолютно мало насилия и много сюжета и драмы. Мне понравилась.

Если сложно понять, это не значит, что проект провальный. Те, кто говорит, что игра шедевр, частично правы, частично нет. Ведь шедевры должны нравится всем. А может и нет.     Wonderful game experience. Kojima create a new type of gameplay which focus more on progress than result. Deliver and walk may looks boring at first but then I recognize how interesting it is. The feeling that connecting whole world is so amazing. I love this story, I love Death Stranding!

    48 hours to complete, and I have been hooked the entire game.
    It's brilliant. It's crazy. There is no other game like this. Completely original, and if you love story driven games....This has it all.     The porter gameplay is cool and you don't have to actually manage cargo you just press triangle and it does it for you.

    I just sat through 2 hours of interactive story telling at the end and I'm sitting here blown away.

    The acting...the music....the landscapes ...the story.......

    This game is a view into the future, where everyone will be aisolated and the world business it's going to be around logistics, it's about the physical disconnecting society and a full dependency of internet, it's extremely deep, and a visual work of art. Masterpiece.

    10 hours in..
    It's a serious game with a great story. Features solid game mechanics, graphics, animations and sound.

    You may not like this game if you have an IQ less than 105, and you should probably stick to the new Modern Warfare which is also a good game by the way, but not as complex to understand.

Yes, the game its about walking and delivering packages, but its not as simple as just going from A to B; Kojima and his team manages to make the world alive, the    Death Stranding its a breath of fresh air in an industry full of the same.
    Its a change of pace, delivering an incredible gameplay, that maybe could not be suited for everyone, but its no reason enough to make it a bad game. Yes, the game its about walking and delivering packages, but its not as simple as just going from A to B; Kojima and his team manages to make the world alive, the primary enemy, but at the same time, our companion.
    Little by little, the game evolves, change; giving you tools to make traversing easier but putting new obstacles in your way; never remaining the same. It is a master class on game design, and the best showcase of Kojima's abilities in this regard. Probably most people will not like this kind fo freedom, its requires time, thinking, and that is something that modern society lacks.
    But it is a rewarding system thanks to the message that the director wants to convey: we are nothing if we are alone.
    This is where the "Social Strand System" comes into play. The world is "empty" and the terrain will be a formidable foe without the necessary tools, putting a ladder in our world will make it appear in other player gameplay, and maybe that ladder will be of use to him/her. Creating and constructing things, not for the sake of ourselves, but to help other players that could make use of these things.
    It takes on the modern social network practices, and transform the negative part of it into a postive view, a world where we help others, forgetting about vanity and self indulgence; where there is no gaining in helping someone, but a like from that person.
    Hideo Kojima is an amazing director, mixing whats best from all forms of art; this work its a showcase of amazing cinematic story telling, impressive and detailed gameplay, overwhelming art direction and beautiful soundtrack.
    This is the vision, not only of a man, but all his team; a vision where we can be better persons, to destroy the walls that surrounds us, to be free, and embrace that freedom.
    Its not perfect, thats one thing for sure; but this is clearly the path that new games should take.    … Expand

    Without spoilers. I'm 60hrs plus into this game and with each lodgement of 10hr blocks this game just keeps getting better and better. The trailers really show nothing of endgame content. A true masterclass in sound , visuals and story telling. I can say after watching all the trailers they don't even scratch the surface of how axing thus game is.

    I commend Hideo for attempting to do something a bit different. It can be risky and some of the feedback from gamer media outlets show that. But I applaud him for the attempt. Incredible graphics, sound, attention to detail, dialogue, audio etc shows that a lot of love went into Death Stranding. But it’s definitely not a game for everyone.     The biggest regret of my life. I wasn't able to handle the fully sequence of boring tourism around that map with "scary" ghosts that are not scary at all.
    May I ask for a refund? Ha. I'm not allowed to do so.

    Your primary goal is delivering packages, and that gameplay mechanic is actually done pretty well. Though it is slow paced and isn't for everyone. You'll get reasonable means to improve your package delivery capabilities as you play, such as vehicles and augments for your body. This keeps the package delivery interesting.

    The challenges for delivering packages seem difficult at first, but quickly become easy. Slow and steady wins the race of package delivery. learning to offload packages before fighting bandits will normally allow you to win with no consequences. And the primary enemies of the game (the ghost things) become a bit too easy after you obtain means to kill them.

    The graphics are the best I've seen on PS4, but It's too bad I'm not a graphics nerd. I'm here for the story..

    And the story is disappointing. Specifically, the world building is bad and the character motivations are unbelievable. I should have known going into a game with characters named Mama, Deadman, and Die-Hardman.

    The writing is a complex web of near-nonsense that the average person considers "deep" since they don't take the time to analyze it. It's full of random references with no meaningful themes. For example, the director apparently likes tardigrades, so made his own super tardigrade with its own shallow backstory so that players can have something to eat to rejen health (blood).

    Every bit of video-gamey nonsense has its own backstory: How people deal with the dead is related to ancient Egyptian mummies. Babies that you carry around can help you see the dead because they basically weren't born. A persistent sickness in the world is primarily being cured by "likes" that you get for delivering things (yes seriously, facebook-type likes). The reason why you must walk to deliver packages is because there's dead-people particles in the air.

    Writing backstories for all of this nonsense isn't good writing if nothing links the stories together. The best I could do to tolerate it was to start ignoring the nonsense and keep trucking along with my packages. Although I was frequently pulled out of my ignorance-is-bliss lull when the characters started spouting nonsense again.

    I did frequently wonder why I was apparently the only guy able to deliver packages and why they had me walking most of the time when there were perfectly good vehicles sitting in the parking lots.. So I made up my own story: everyone you see is a hologram and they can't interact easily with physical goods, and here I was saving the world, being the only physical being in existence that could help them..     Es un juego diferente a todo lo qie hayas jugado. Es un juego profundo que transmite muchisimo alegria, pena, soledad nostalgia. Acabas empatizando con el personaje. Llegar de un pubto a un punto b acaba siendoo una lucha contra los elementos y contra ti mismo. Pues no parara de ponerte a prueba. Lo bueno esq el juego no para de recordarte q hay que conectar a las personas y ves como alEs un juego diferente a todo lo qie hayas jugado.     This game is REALLY repetitive and every time there is a cutscene it has to be try hard dramatic. It's not very good. I was hyped for this game as I love Kojimas games but this one is not so good. I repect change but I dont like doing repetitive things over and over while having to escort a baby around. There are a lot of things that I hate and love at the same time. I mentioned the babyThis game is REALLY repetitive and every time there is a cutscene it has to be try hard dramatic.     Kojima is just one crazy SOB, I dont like this game but I'm glade he finally got to make the game he wanted and I'm glad some people are enjoying it.. I work all day and I come home and feel like this game is work.

    The gameplay is also a thing I hate and love at the same time.. mostly hate it though.. I really think the point A and then point B thing was lazy. Seemed to me he focused more on making an art piece instead of a video game that is fun.. This game does have flashes of brillances here and there which make me very interested, once I do get interested Kojima pulls the rug from underneath me.. I want there to be a Death Stranding 2 because I think it's interesting but I would prefer less overly dramatic try hard cut scenes and fun gameplay.. Maybe make Death Stranding a theme name like Finally Fantasy and have a different story each time.    … Expand

Но шедевр определенно не для всех - к сожалению, вероятность того, чтоМестами спорное, но невероятно затягивающее сюжетное приключение. Великолепно проработанный мир со своим лором, до мурашек пробирающий саундтрек и неплохая графическая часть - всё на высшем уровне. Да, вероятно, первые 5-7 часов геймплея и заставят зевнуть пару раз, однако дальше игра разгоняется, превращаясь в шедевр. Но шедевр определенно не для всех - к сожалению, вероятность того, что именно из-за монотонного и местами скучного вступления немаленькая часть игроков не продвинется дальше первых глав, всё же есть.     El juego es absorvente cuanto más avanzas más quieres seguir jugando. No hay nada igual en el mercado. No puedo decir más, solamente que la experiencia es inolvidable, si te gusta Metal gear, la película mensajero del futuro the postman y los juegos de mundo abierto, este juego te va a encantar

    Death stranding is Amazing! I dont get it, how can ppl rate it at 0 or 2.. Bots or trolls? Comparison time! Big Rigs doesn't even get that low and that game is not a game. Its a broken mess of polygons. Plumbers Don't Wear Ties rates higher according to those "people" I must call bullsh*t on most the low graders here!

    проект в целом воплощает новинку в геймдеве в сочной обертке рекламных роликов и сопровождается всесторонними выкриками: КОДЗИМА - ГЕНИЙ. Т.к. я игру не прошел не могу пока ничего сказать о верности этого высказывания.     Hideo Kojima himself said that he made the game not for gamers, but for film fans. And that clearly tell us why he didn't focus on a good gameplay,    Death Stranding, as a movie, is fine, not great, no bad, just ok... But as a game? its one of the most boring as hell games ever made. Just a darn walking simulator delivery man, so darn slow movement that you will die in the boredom.

    Hideo Kojima himself said that he made the game not for gamers, but for film fans.     I’ve played 11 hours so far and I can say without a doubt this is the most unique gaming experience ever. The story is amazing. And the delivery gameplay is fun especially when you enter a MULE camp and slap all of them up with their own cargo you stole from them. I’m in love!

    Played the entire game and nearly all the extra stuff. Game is annoying/infuriating at worst and once you get better tools you just skip the gameplay so boring at best. Was wanting to like it and gave it a shot, but by the end I dont see myself ever playing this again and not getting a sequel if one is made

    The game is beautiful, it's graphics are top! sometimes i just stop in the midle of it look at the enviroment, and yes, it is funny, may not be a call of duty where you turn 360º and shoot people while jumpimp of the map to get the best score, this game it's a lot slower, and it's foucus it's on telling the story, witch by the way it's kind of confusing but that it's kojima intention, it's an interpretative story! there is so mutch games out there that don't really and, it just leave a oppening for the player to interpretate what happend and decide how to story really ended.
    In a world where we are aways at war and separating ourselfs, where violence it's aways the answer just because the person on your side thinks something diferent, have a diferent skin color, o sexuality here comes a games that try to bring us back togheter with all it's metaphors.
    Hideo kojima made a masterpiece here, it' has some problems yes! the story should be a litle shorter, but still a wonderfull story.
    The gameplay of the game it's great! you aways have to know your limitations, and what can you bring to your jorneys, the world is a real challenge, moutains, mules, BTs aways trying to kill you(BTs), or just trying to steel your cargo(mules), when you take all the orders that you can, the map tell you the dangers of each section, and once you deliver your cargo you can change the equipment in the base that you just stoped because now there will be diferent dangers.
    if you like a game that is calm, with a greate story and you don't have to run all the shoot things all the time(something more frenetic), that may be the game for you, but if you are the that kind of person how need action all the time i think you should save your money to buy some other game.
    This is nota game for everyone, but please, just because the game it's not for you, don't say that it is trash or that it sucks, be respectfull, because i'm pretty sure if you think a game is a masterpice you wouldn't like if someone called it trash.    … Expand

It will be so overloaded with cinematics, and you will spend most of your time watching a cinematic. I spent more time watching cinematics, than playing the game.

    It would have been better to have this as a show with several episodes instead of making you walk, sometimes aimlessly, towards the next episode of cinematics.

    So in conclusion: Story great. Game towards the end is less of a game and more long episodes.

    Edit: I had to retroactively change my review, as I have kept playing to go for the platinum, which I've nearly done. My biggest problem with Death Stranding is the insane amount of cutscenes / cinematics at the end. It is too much and feels punishing. The core gameplay for the big part of the game, which is needed for the platinum, I actually enjoyed. So not as horrible as I initally reviewed, still not recommended though    … Expand

    I believe this game is brilliant. Human civilizations were constructed based on trade and building share infrastructure. As such one of the most important task humans would need to accomplish is rebuilding that network. Your character role may be a courier but the significant of his task is much greater. Once all the tools begin to appear the gameplay really kicks off. The combat is decent if there was an area to improve I would say it would be this. I am working in a very stressful environment, cybersecurity. When I get home and I want to relax before bedtime I don't want a game that puts extra stress on me, I want a chill experience that gives me enough amount of challenge but also a good time playing it. There are only a few games that really put me in this mood: Death Stranding, Subnautica and Gravity Rush 2". When the weekend comes yes, surely I play games like GoW, horizon, spiderman, farcry, ac odyssey, etc. But none of them can really relax me after a hard day of work. That's why for me it could possibly be the game of this generation. The feeling when you simply walk in that empty space filled with superbly crafted nature-like landscapes and the moment when an in-game song starts rolling in, I think it's like a therapeuthical feeling I get that makes my brains " orgasm". I know this game is not for everyone. Probably will not be the game of the year but for me this is the game of my life that I have never anticipated it coming. I am terribly sorry for those of you reading all of this expecting to see a review of the game and instead reading about my experience with it.     I love the idea of "chill gameplay" where you walk around stunning landscapes transporting cargo, listening to great music by Low Roar... it was absolutely delightful!
    The relaxing aspect switches out regularly for a more stressful and frightening one when you must travel through BT or enemy territory, or cross over especially dangerous terrain.    One of the best games I played in years!

The gameplay was absolutely immersive and fun, I loved just walking around and taking in the scenery, meeting NPCs along the way, listening to music, even the horror-like scenes when I came to close to BTs (truly scary).

However, the cinematography, the music, the acting, interesting scientific theories and philosophies, and lastly a well-crafted social system in the game prevents me from rating this game any lower than 7.

    Fanboys and members of the cult of personality for Kojima aside, this game absolutely sucks. "First ever strand type game" well hopefully its the last. It just isn't fun. Walking and delivery packages until it turns into a terrible TPS? Oh wait, teh story? Who...…………………..Cares? If the gameplay blows in a game whats the point?     Неплохой сюжет, хороший саундтрек, но игра растянута, бывает- пробеги в одну точку- забери оттуда-доставь туда же откуда забирал и тп, в целом игра понравилась.

    This game has transcended my expectations. Of course I understand its not for everybody, but the message it's trying to convey, the amazing physics and world it's created, you can really feel the effort and passion from the people who made it to create this experience.     Great Game! An interesting and unpredictable plot. Reading an email and an encyclopedia in the game is a pleasure. The game-play is meditative but sometimes it gets hot.

    For me personally, the game world has caused an association with the book Roadside Picnic of the Strugatsky brothers.

Clearly during the first few hours this game looks like those nice reviews online... but if you play it for about 30hours or so... Damn this is one tedious, boring and never surprising game. But the game itself... the pace, the corners, the plot, the world, decisions, Npcs, enemies... pretty much everything in here feels static, redundant, useless or evident... There is no dread here, only flash in your eyes... This game lacks maturity. Despite its prophecy, its astonishing attempt to make you connect the living to bring hope, this game tackles you from the start like you are already dead.

    A great game marred by Hideo Kojima's terrible writing. First of all, let's get one thing straight. Death Stranding is not an action game, and if that is what you're searching for, look elsewhere. It may have some action sprinkled throughout, but this is basically a hiking game, where the goal is to send packages through a hostile terrain. You'll unlock several tools that will makeA great game marred by Hideo Kojima's terrible writing. First of all, let's get one thing straight. Death Stranding is not an action game, and if that is what you're searching for, look elsewhere. It may have some action sprinkled throughout, but this is basically a hiking game, where the goal is to send packages through a hostile terrain. You'll unlock several tools that will make traversing this terrain easier, while at the same time you'll face harder and harder obstacles. Whether it's deep rivers, large mountains, terrorists, ghosts or epic boss fights, there's always something new to keep you on your toes, and it's very rewarding to get to the other side with a well-cared package. It's not a game for the masses, like the Metal Gears were, however.

    That being said, although Hideo Kojima is a great game designer, a great writer he is not. And when it comes to the story, this is Kojima at his worst. I'm not speaking of the tongue-in-cheek moments Kojima is famous for, which I find amusing even though they do often mess with the story's tone. What kills me the most are the endless hours of exposition, with often multiple characters explaining a simple concept over and over again in the same cutscene, each time using different metaphors that do nothing but make the ideas harder to grasp. You could cut hours of cutscenes and radio conversations out of the game and nothing would be lost, which is objectively a sign of bad writing (or a lack of editing). The dialog often feels unnatural. When characters aren't busy explaining things, they're delivering melodramatic monologues that feel unearned and uninteresting. The ending is about 5 hours long, complete with showing the (unskippable) credits twice, with Kojima's name obviously appearing about 10 times throughout.

    Graphically, the game looks amazing, and the soundtrack is also excellent, although I miss the option to play songs while I'm walking around the landscape, and the few times the game automatically plays a song for you it's almost always cut off too soon by enemies or a cutscene. The game also suffers from terrible UX, with the need to display a small little cutscene for every action you make in the menus resulting in a constant "Options->Skip Cutscene->Confirm" to do simple things as "selling" useless items.

    Overall, it's a fun (and quite original) game to play, with a great soundtrack and visuals, but with a terrible story and tedious menu flows. I do hope Kojima keeps making games, I just hope someone stands up to him and helps him write a better story.    … Expand

    It is the only video game that not only enjoy it; it made me think, it made me look beyond, it made me excited and made me understand that all we have are the people connected to us.

    This is more like a tech demo and not a game. It's boring the world is almost empty and all missions are fetch quests. Most boring and pretentious AAA project that i have played . Kojima wants 60$ for this you got to be kidding me i feel like i wasted my money for this

    Best game for this generation! The story is amazing, and the game is almost addictive! I love to create the best ways to deliver. It's an 9.5 game and I would say that every score under 6 is not that serious and a shame that people doesn't know better!

It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it.     This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
