Very mediocre game. Very dark all the time. Sounds and music is like from early 2000 :)
Even in Co op is kinda boring.

Story: You play as that guy who cares little about himself and somehow gets the hot blonde girlfriend. She's dead now. And while traversing through the city you start to figure out more about what's going on while being deadlier than the terminator could ever be.

Gameplay: Top-down shooter with multiple guns and explosives at your disposal. While killing zombies you earn gold, and that can be used to upgrade these weapons to make them more deadly, faster and with bigger clips. You can also find armor to make yourself faster, tougher and stronger.

Difficulty: The game is designed in such a way to test your awareness, reaction skill and cunning. The first levels will test your ability to react fast, use the environment and switch between weapons, and later levels will test your resourcefulness and sanity. Expect swarms like you've never seen before that rush you from all directions. And that was just on normal...

Visuals: Surprisingly good, but sometimes there are overloads of lights, fire and partical effects that can obscure your vision just a bit too much. Gore is very detailed, and the tiniest details are clearly visible.

Co-op and global status: Yes! This game as co-op that you can play with a buddy. It also has a global status where you can see which country in the world has completed the most cycles of the virus, which makes it extra worth it to get high scores.

It is an excellent game, and i thoroughly enjoyed playing it. I give it a 8/10.

Dead Nation is a top-down twin-stick shooter that has an impressive amount of depth. Movement is handled with the left analog stick, while the right analog stick is used for aiming. The game can be played as a single-player experience or as a co-op experience. The gameplay is simple: you must mow down a countless amount of zombies while attempting to reach a checkpoint. Once at the checkpoint, you are able to purchase weapons and upgrades using loot from killed zombies. The game also has collectibles you can pick up, such as armor pieces and additional loot. I am also pleased with the difficulty level of the game. This game does not hold your hand and will punish you if you're not paying attention to your surroundings.

    Story:
Although Dead Nation's story is its weakest point, it is not a terrible story. The storyline is a bit predictable, but the presentation of the story is nicely done. It is told with hand-drawn animated images with voice overs from the characters. The images depict the areas they are in and the destruction surrounding them. Although the presentation isn't ideal, it is serviceable.

    Graphics:
The graphical style of Dead Nation is appealing and unique. The dim lighting coupled with the zombies' groans creates an eerie atmosphere. I applaud Housemarque on their attention to detail. For example, when the character moves into a corner, the camera will shift and the rain (If it's raining) will also shift directions. Another example is when soldier or hazmat-wearing zombies are around: they're tougher to kill because of their protective wardrobe. My final example is when zombies attempt to attack with their own weapons, such as briefcases or pans. They'll swing them at the character instead of attacking with their bare hands. These details must be recognized and Housemarque should be lauded for them.

    Verdict:
I highly recommend Dead Nation! This game is an example of a quality PSN title that must be played. Not only is it a great port, but it also includes the "Road of Devastation" DLC, which is a nice addition. It is a challenging game that requires skill to complete, while also having enough collectibles to warrant a careful playthrough. The atmosphere is engaging, which can create suspenseful moments. You will not regret purchasing this game.

You can like it, or you can hate it, it's a matter of taste. Don't ever buy this game without checking some gameplay videos.
A cool feature is the score by country, if you like to play this game, you can give score for your country, Belgium is not so bad graded by the way !
There are no differences with the PS3 version, at least, nothing big. And the apocalypse edition is a little plus

Dead Nation can most accurately be described as Left 4 Dead as a twin-stick shooter (even most of the enemy types are the same!) - although it certainly isn't as fun as Valve's excellent game.

It does nothing that hasn't been seen plenty of times before going right back to Smash TV in the late 80's/early 90's and zombies themselves have also been done to death (pun intended) of course.

It is a good looking game in comparison to similar titles however and played local co-op with a family member it was a pretty enjoyable, if rather repetitive, experience.

If you can pick it up cheap and have someone to play it with its worth giving a go.

Wow is this game bunk. I had the PS3 version, and I did not enjoy it. But since it was free through my PS+ membership, I figured I would give it another shot. First of all, I don't know how they get off calling it a new edition, when it is the exact same game as the one on PS3, to the T.

Overall, it is just boring to play. It feels old and not in a good way.

The shadows, sounds, objects in the world.... they all come together very nicely to create a good post apocalyptic environment. Much better than I expected for yet another zombie game. Good controls, plenty of weapons, easy to pick up and play, nice graphics, very eerie, well detailed and fairly large levels, fun bonuses, and the worldwide virus stats at the end of each level generate a need to keep playing. One of my top 3 PS4 games so far.

Excellent top down shooter. Great layers on the gameplay. I have played its successor (Resogun) and loved the way that every detail matters and creates the balance of the gameplay.

It has its spikes in difficulty and probably you won't recognize which level is which. Also, sometimes it's hard to see where your character is with all that is happening on screen. Excellent action,

It's a top down shoot em up that's based on scores, trophies and reflexes. It's a twin stick shooter in which you are either a man or a women who's in a world overrun by zombies and you have to survive by blasting your way through hordes of different kinds of zombies to reach checkpoints.. You can upgrade your weapons and armor along the way. You can gain new weapons and armor throughout the game also. It's just pure gameplay.

Players are awarded score multipliers and money when zombies are killed. Money is used to purchase and upgrade weapons at checkpoints, and multipliers to grant better scores. Each time players are hit, they lose multipliers and health. Players fight their way through ten levels, using weapon shops that allow weapon upgrading and armor swapping ( all in game money which is good ). Throughout the levels, players can find boxes that hold ammunition, multipliers, money, or armor pieces, and also loot cars and trunks for money. If a car is blown up before being looted, though, the loot is lost. At times the players are trapped in areas where they must survive until they have accomplished a certain goal (e.g. wait for an elevator while fighting zombies or kill all zombies in the area). Armor sets influence strength, endurance and agility.

Zombies are attracted by flares, car alarms, grenades, mines, and vending machines. Zombies can be killed by environmental hazards which the player can use to their advantage. Players will encounter a variety of zombies. Players can use a melee and rush attack against zombies, as well as a variety of weaponry like rocket launchers, flamethrowers and electric weapons.

It can get a little repetitive at times and the story is kind of weak and so is the main character. To be honest though you will be playing this purely for the gameplay alone because it's fun, fast paced and addictive.

This game is a little bit overrated because it's free. It's fun for a little bit, but the gameplay gets stale. It's just too slow. There's lots there to play, though, if you really do like it. Personally, after a mission or two it feels like a chore to keep playing, and among the other titles in my library, I only feel like playing it once a week.

As the Dead Nation moves from PS3 to PS4, only little has changed. The textures are a notch sharper and there's a new game mode, that demonstrates the streaming capabilities of the PS4, but other than that, the game is the same four year-olds old top-down zombie shooter. It's still a solid shooter, but nowadays the zombies are literally EVERYWHERE. [Apr 2014]
