Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition

Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition is the zombie fest that got us hooked in 2010, but with better graphics and funny extras.

Even with not fully taking advantage of the fresh hardware, this little zombie fighting gem didn’t lose its mojo.

The additions might look quite irrelevant, but before letting it go, think twice. This game is still as fun as it was on PS3, and the Broadcast+ feature, allowing our streaming watchers to modify our games, is an amazing option you must try.

As the Dead Nation moves from PS3 to PS4, only little has changed. The textures are a notch sharper and there's a new game mode, that demonstrates the streaming capabilities of the PS4, but other than that, the game is the same four year-olds old top-down zombie shooter. It's still a solid shooter, but nowadays the zombies are literally EVERYWHERE. [Apr 2014]

Dead Nation is roughly the same game as back in 2010, nevertheless Housemarque was able to deliver yet another great game for the PS4 with all the new features.

Dead Nation on PlayStation 4 is just as great as it is on PlayStation 3. It's still eerie, difficult, and a ton of fun to play, whether online with your friends or on your own in a dimly-lit room.

A great edition for a great game. Dead Nation is still one of the most interesting scrolling shooter available on the market, and the new broadcast + game mode is pure genius.

As a title that perfectly knows its talents and sets its priorities accordingly, Dead Nation is as good as it gets.

The same superb action oriented arcade game found on PS3 with new bells and whistles. A must have for PS4 owners.

Harbours all the addictive pick-up-and-play qualities synonymous with everyone's favourite PS4 indie developer - providing a thrilling zombie romp, with fast, fluid mechanics and controls. And while it may not strain the PS4's considerable capabilities by any stretch, the inclusion of some new leaderboard-based modes coupled with the innovative streaming feature make this a welcome addition to the PS4 indie roster.

The brilliant Dead Nation moves over to PS4 with slightly better graphics, a couple of cool new features and... well, that's it.

The utter antithesis of The Last of Us, a top-down Left 4 Dead-alike that ignores pansy ideas like human emotion or common sense in favour of stuff that explodes and makes other stuff explode. It’s colourful and loud and a ton of fun either alone or with friends, and is probably one of the best zombie blasters released in recent years.

Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition is a nice take on the original game, packed with some extra modes and upgraded graphics.

Dead Nation is back with its full potential and brand new gameplay features. If you have a PS Plus account, you can't miss it.

Dead Nation, one of the best downloadable games available on PS3, updates its technical section to make an appearance on PS4. Spectacular and addictive, it also manages to be an essential game on the new console.

Some new social features and a crisper 1080p look enhance this PS4 reincarnation of Dead Nation without changing the original, proven twin-stick shooter formula.

As a zombie twin-stick shooter it gets the job done, but its qualities are lessened by lost potential. Nothing jumps out at you, and everything seems to have been done better in other games.

The PS4 edition of Dead Nation has some visual improvements over the original, but the highlight here is, without a doubt, the Broadcast+ mode.

Dead Nation: Apocalypse is a difficult game to recommend. The majority of PlayStation fans will have already played it on PlayStation 3 and this version does not include anything that could justify a new purchase.

This enhanced version of Dead Nation, with some new content, is a still a good but repetitive action game.

An excellent arcade shooter that delivers exactly what the box says; lots of zombies and lots of weapons to blow them to bits with. The inclusion of the DLC pack Road of Devastation adds some extra longevity. The new modes are more fun on paper than in reality, but the shooting remains solid and the hunt for cash and upgrades will be enough to keep aspiring zombie hunters glued to the screen.

Zombie killing fun for those who have a PS4. The broadcast+ feature is a nice addition. Also updated graphics look fine. But offers nothing more. Just another top-down shooter.

This carefully crafted feel extends to the player as well; there’s a definite feeling of weightiness to your actions, and consequences will rear their ugly heads should you make rash decisions.

Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition doesn’t solve the core gunplay issues that plagued the release’s original outing, but this is still a fine upgrade for those merely looking for some rotten flesh to fire at.
