I didn’t buy this when it released due to all of the negative reviews but this (in my opinion) is definitely game of the year material. It’s one of the few games of 2019 where I genuinely can’t stop playing the game.

This game is fantastic. It’s a criminal shame it’s not getting a sequel. The moment to moment experience has been nothing short of fantastic. The loneliness, the desolation, the tragedy and the hate and the hope all come together beautifully

Days Gone is enjoyable if not remarkable experience. The story is largely forgettable for the most part with a few highs. The gameplay is quite enjoyable once you begin taking on hordes, but years after release, there are still a few bugs that can plague the experience. The AI is downright bad at times, with human enemies and freakers sometimes not interacting with each other. All and all,Days Gone is enjoyable if not remarkable experience. Absolutely fantastic game, enjoyed the gameplay right to the end, just a couple of times the game crashed, so dropping a point, in around 100hrs+ gameplay. Great storyline, pacing, characters, world, graphics, sound. All Overall would definately recommend.

Days Gone looks and plays like Read Dead Redemption and The Last of Us had a baby and that baby rides a motorcycle.

The troubled launch of Days Gone has nothing to do with my playthrough. I saw a few bugs but really no more than I’ve seen in open world games like Read Dead Redemption. On the whole, Days Gone is a solid product. Shooting, melee, stealth, and motorcycle riding all feel good. The fundamentals are there. The story is also not bad, but don’t expect alternate paths and alternate endings. This sandbox has high walls.

First, the good. The zombies in this game are fun to kill. They are not technically zombies. Instead of supernatural beings, the “Freakers” are rabid humans. You don’t need to destroy their brain stems to kill them. You can run them over, burn them, explode them, beat them with a 2x4, or simply shoot them. By the end of the game, you will be shooting a lot of the zombies. Hordes of them. And it never stops being fun. You can also kill a large number of humans, and though the gunplay is well done, the humans are not as satisfying to take down as some of the more interesting zombies. Fair warning, the first few hours are a rocky first few hours. Trust me, though, the game opens up into a very fun experience.

Now, the bad. The game needed something more. You can see limitations immediately. The rank and file zombies only present themselves with 3 character models that have only 1 set of clothing each. The game design is also intent on making inventory management a nightmare. You can only carry 3 of each type of grenade, trap, or distraction device. Why not cary 9 pineapple grenades and none of the other? Nope. You can carry 3. And you can only carry so much of each kind of crafting material to make your own grenades. Very quickly, I stopped relying on crafted items and focused instead of buying ammo at camps. The game world tells you ammo is scarce. By the end of the game, you will be buying thousands of rounds of ammo on a whim. An open world sandbox game is always better when it embraces the power of player choice. Days Gone needed some more choices for something, anything, to set it apart from Red Dead Redemption in The Last of Us universe.

“Days Gone” really does have a The Last of Us feel to it. You have the dread, the artificial family, and even a few jokes to break the silence. And you have the zombies and crafting. I feel like the developer pitched this game as an open world game in The Last of Us universe and Sony said no. So the developer made their own kind of zombie instead. The premier mechanic in the game is the horde. Instead of sneaking around and fearing for your life, you take on hundreds of zombies at once. Yet I didn’t have the tools to fight a horde for the first 30 hours of playing this game. If the game introduced the horde mechanic earlier, I would have seen some unique potential to a “Days Gone” series. Instead, you almost have to finish the game to fight the hordes, and most players do not finish games. I can understand why Sony didn’t green light a “Days Gone 2”.

Full disclosure: I downloaded “Days Gone” for “free” with PlayStation Plus and played it on PS5. That means fast load times and 60fps. Sony also gave away Horizon Zero Dawn for free free last spring, and if you want to play one of the best open world games of all time, play that. (It is also 60fps on PS5). When you are done with Horizon Zero Dawn and want to shoot some zombies, give “Days Gone” a try. Tell ‘em Deke sent ya’.

Hands down, one of the best games of this generation. Story is great (mostly). The game mechanics are awesome and can be combined, and when you think you are overpowered, the game introduces hordes. Looking forward to a sequel or whatever Bend Studios come up with.

The most UNDERRATED game of the last 5 years atleast. The game has a great story, great length, great amount of stuff to do and most importantly NOT POLTICALLY CORRECT. It's just an enjoyable, challenging, stealth, action, motorcycle driving, fun game.

Oh, and there's a ton of super fast, crazy zombies in it. A must play for action game lovers.

I skipped the PS4 and picked up a PS5. Played through Bloodborne (loved it). Played a few hours of Ghosts of Tsushima (boring generic console game at its core). Played God of War for like 20 minutes before realizing it too was a generic (albeit polished) console game like Ghosts of Tsushima. And when I say generic I can't put my finger on it exactly, but these are the types of games consoles are known for and something about them just bores me. Then I stumbled across some community buzz on Days Gone and decided to try it. As a predominantly PC gamer, Days Gone just completely blew me away. To the point I'm telling everyone "you need to play this game!".

The requisite crafting is here as well. You get to ride a chopper around, which breaks down or runs out of gas constantly but in this bleak world there seems to be plenty of bike pumps and fuel just randomly lying around. People really didn't do a good job of scavenging for the preceding 275 days gone prior to the start of the game apparently.

A by the numbers game, nothing special whatsoever. It seems like the 3rd person action adventure type game has just runs it course on the PS4/PS3 era. Boring and formulaic, with the same stereotypical characters as every other game in this genre. Pass.

Nitpicks aside though this was a title that made me a part of Deacon’s emotional world and still hasn’t let go weeks later—and I played it alongside Death Stranding during the quarantine.

Games like Horizon Zero Dawn and Witcher 3 did that. It’s a rare treat and one that more people should experience.

A slow burner at the beginning with the main character having a lot of rough edges, but that kind of personality fits well in a post apocalyptic setting. Days Gone is a nearly 25hr long 3rd person open world adventure game as decan in a post apocalyptic Oregon, there an infestation that turned people intpo freakers, youre baracaded off from the rest of the world, nd you’ve been separated from your wife.. its been 2 years and the wonder in your head of is she still alive or Is she dead and youre just chasing a ghost.. this aspct of the game is the best part of days gone.. and while this is a good game and will get a good rating from me… there just so much here in days gone that sets out to ruin its potential…
This game is just not enjoyable… you ride your bike back and forth running errands that don’t really matter to you for practically 90% of the game.. the other 10% of the game is spent uncovering the truth about your wife, abnd these are the moments that sucked me in .. these are the moments that had me just sucking it up and doing the boring task of drive here, drive there, just to unlock the next flashback or the next clue to what happened to her.. this was my bread crumb… what makes the rest of the game so bad is that days gone just does everything in its power to make your time playing it miserable, issue 1
you have to manage your bike, you will run out of gas, you will have to repair it.. which is fine.. I appreciate the immersion this added to the game.. howver you would think you were driving a hummer rather than a motorcycle for how quickly you run out of gas,
issue 2 , theres no incetive to explore in between tasks,.. your inventory space is so limited that it discourages any sort of weapon collecting, and there isn’t much to seek out in this world outher than health and stamina upgrades.. leading to a world that just feels like a chore and an obstacle…
which brings me to issue 3.. the world is just an obstacle.. if it isn’t annoying enough to have to find gas trying to go from point a to b, youll constantl me ambushed, there will be snipers, tripwires, wolves.. the game wont let you just get to where oyu have to go.. it needs to throw you off your bike and force you to kill a bunch of enemies in a game with a heavy emphasis on survival… health and ammo is not plentiful here… so its kind of bs how often the game forces damage and combat on you during moments not even associated with the story… which brings me onto the 4th issue.. the hordes… again with the lack of ammo and recources.. especially to craft the thing needed to actually kill these things.. theyre just way too powerful and annoying.. and can be real game stoppers. As the game forces you to kill hordes like 4 times throughout the story.. though thankfully after dying enough your given the option to skip that bit… almost as if the game knows it has some overly frustrating parts to it… Days Gone essentially set out to make an open world version of the last of us.. but forgot to balance the mechanics of the last of us to exist within an open world… maybe the point was to make things miserable. To bring the actual emotion you would feel living in this world… in that, the game succeeds.. but in being an enjoybale experience, the payoff here wasn’t worth the misery… the world, the characters, the story.. its solid.. it good… days gone is an experience at least trying out… it did oddly enough have its hooks in me.. I happily played all the way until I got my answer.. it wasn’t until those final 6 hours that I was just over the game, its then you realize without that breadcrumb, theres nothing here to incetivize you to keep playing…
    I give Days Gone
    a 7/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I ended up buying this game after I watched a few videos showing how much it improved. Overall it's a great game. If I was to imagine what a post apocalyptical open world infected zombie game would be, it would be pretty close to this. The game does a great job immersing the player into the world. It's fun to drive around on my hog and see what's going on. A lot of the characters are spot on representations. From people who have been waiting all their lives for some end of the world stuff to happen. To others doing their best to protect the people. Everything this game does, it does it well. Shooting, hand to hand combat, driving and exploring feel good.

That isn't to say there isn't some issues. I find the game has some inconsistences in it's story telling and characters. People do and say things that make little sense or contradict earlier things they said. For instance, earlier in the story I was sent on a job to get something and the guy who sent me out wasn't worried about causing trouble with a certain group of people. Later in the story he tells me I don't want to anger the leader of those same very people earlier he didn't care if I killed. Then 2 seconds later he says we need to take care of the group of people he just said not to mess with. It absolutely makes no sense. Or how about Saint John being a complete jerk to people in the camps, yet needing their help and or working with them. It makes no sense to create ill will with people you're constantly working with.

There's other another issues that irk me. Anytime you go into a camp and walk by the mechanic or anyone else in a camp, they comment on you being there. If you happen to walk by them a few seconds later, they comment like they haven't seen you in days. You can do this over and over again. At one point I had a mission to check in on a friend. I drove all the way over there to ask him something for him to reply completely incorrectly to what I was asking and that was the whole mission. It's little things like this that don't seem right in a game that gets so much right. Then there's rescuing screaming survivors who are always the same few character models. Why would anybody scream in your face while rescuing them in a zombie apocalypses? Again, it makes no sense.

Another thing that bothers me is how the game tries very hard to say who would survive the zombie apocalypse and who wouldn't. Only the gangsters, drug addicts, bikers and ex cons would survive. The game even says accountants wouldn't make it out in this world, says who? They try to make this clear delineation of who's capable of surviving and it makes no sense. Survival skills are not base on being a bad$ss on the streets before everything went down.

But besides these few issues, the game itself is a ton of fun and I would totally recommend.

Once in awhile a game comes along that all I can think about is wow I just don't want this to end and that's the way I felt every time I played this game. It's such a great map that I almost never want to use fast travel because you never know what you might miss. The only disappointing thing about this game is the fact that they didn't do any DLC afterwards or do anything to keep the story going. The thing that blew my mind the most was the zombie hordes. It creates a sense of panic that I have never felt before in a game. You could be hiding in a bush hurling Molotov cocktails towards the zombies and if one zombie happens to sniff you out, you have to start running for your life trying to strategically find a way to find some place where you can keep fighting. By far one of my favorite games of all time. Expand

Jogo repetitivo e com história para crianças mal educadas. Seria melhor ler um livro ou fazer qualquer outra coisa ao invés de perder tempo com isso. Pouquíssimos jogos conseguiram a proeza de fazer com que eu desistisse no meio. Tristeza.

The first few hours are EXTREMELY slow, this is what caused me to take so long to fully complete the game, having owned the game since 2019 and having restarted it SEVERAL times, I wouldn't say that the start of the game is boring, but it's very close to that description BUT if you persevere and get past the first few hours, the game really opens up and becomes a lot of fun.

What is impressive is definitely the graphics, models, technical aspect of the game is very impressive but that's just half of the story, other half is the STORY and narrative part.... which is really is not fun in my opinion. The good:
    - Deacon might not be a likeable character for everyone, but you can't deny the fact that his motivations and his dedications are present and they are essential to the way how the game unfolds its twists and turns
    - the world feels genuinely beautiful and terrifying. you can see the aftermath of the outbreak, see the filthy trails left by the freaks, see how anarchists trashed people's properties, see how the post-outbreak communities are built to protect their camps. there are so many details for you to learn more about this world
    - the gunplay is simply fantastic
    - the bond between certain characters are so adorable, I couldn't help but smile when they interact with each other

    The bad:
    - the melee mechanic is a bit outdated, especially when you and your enemy are attacking at the same time, your character would just "wait" and take that damage, in the meantime, you can't control Deacon until his animation is finished
    - voice acting really varies. there are some characters I just can't stand because of how annoyingly they talk

How did they manage to not notice how overly annoying this is? The gas runs out all the time! And when it happens, sometimes its like impossible to get a new can of fuel.

Stamina is also very limited. You constantly run out of stamina, especially in a fight. And same for ammunition - constantly out of ammo. See a pattern here? These "survival" systems are just constantly frustrating you and ruining the potential fun you can have with the game.
There ought to be a setting - no bike damage and no fuel. It is never fun managing this stuff.

The game looks great and has some interesting enough story and gameplay, but it is seriously weakend by the extremely annoying survival systems.
The game is also way to long and has a lot of boring fetch-quests, where all you do is "go here and kill XYZ or pickup XYZ then head back".
Some of the main-line quests are really good though, but there are to much "filler" stuff in here.
I picked it up for 20$ which I would say was an OK deal, but Im frustrated that I never got to beat the game. There is one point when the game could have easily called it quits and it would have been more effective but instead it continues with yet another camp and what should have been the climax is dragged out to more pointless filler just to make the game longer...

It's because the game had some issues when it was released. Some reviews saw the game for what it was, a diamond in the rough, but a lot of them saw it fair to give the game much lower scores than it deserves. The creators of the game, Sony Bend, worked hard to make the game run prefect and nowadays this game is amazing and when you own a PS5 it even runs smoother than that.
The story is about a post endemic world where we follow a biker in search of his wife with his buddy. The story is great and has a lot of twists and turns. The gameplay is fun where tactics to attack or takeout a camp or a huge horde of infected makes it a fun game loop.
Give this game a try, you won't be disappointed.

I think we've come to an oversaturation of open world, zombie/post-apocalyptic games. Had this game come out some years ago, maybe it'd have received better scores. This game has pretty visuals, but other than that it brings nothing new to the table, hence it can get tedious.

El juego tiene un muy buen aspecto gráfico, con una zona de juego muy hermosa y diferentes biomas para explorar. Pero enseguida te das cuenta, si has jugado a otros grandes éxitos de Playstation, que 'The Last of Us'.

Ah yes it's a "solid" game for sure. Combing all the sums of it's parts stealth, combat, crafting, exploration, story in a fun and tense cohesive whole.

I heard some drama about this game. Some weirdo BS from the racist/sexist online gaming press moaning the character was another while male. Also that the game had performance issues. Yeah I'd pick this one up if you have a pro. Maybe this has a memory leak? It slows down the more you play it on the legacy PS4. Picked it up on the 1.70 build and installed on external HD. Underrated game that deserves some attention for sure. Shame the performance wasn't up to scratch on the legacy PS4.

2021 update installed game on internal factory default HD and brought digital version. So no more disc anymore (traded). Performance seems to have improved. It's not great on the legacy PS4, but it is better than it was before. I'd of give this a 8/10 if the optimization was good. I read the creator crying about that we are not going to get a DG2, because enough people didn't buy DG1 at full price? Maybe optimize the game at launch cry baby creator? This game still doesn't run good in 2021.

Just started this game as it came free to PS Plus. Game looks great on PS4 Pro, another solid Sony exclusive. Sony really has the most high quality exclusive games. Great atmosphere and likable characters. Motorcycle driving could be better, character movement and controls is great. I can tell this game will become repetitive, however I still think it’s a solid worthwhile experience.

Great game play and great story! I was hooked! Wish there was more. I could not believe that it was already over.

It is a very good game, killing zombies is fun, weapons are cool, small problems here and there, story is a bit simplistic but all these does not break experience at all. Ending is positive, really like it. Don’t trust critics.

    Cons:
    • Feels outdated - cut to black cut scenes - can't swim.
    • Bad introduction to characters and story - weird time cuts all over the place Pros: • Never got tired of the gameplay - I love scavenging for items and clearing camps and running away from hordes. • Story gets really good on the second map and I am very invested in all of the characters. • I love how slowly new

Bend Studio made a great game with a rich, believable and captivating story. They’ve also resisted the lure of trends: there’s no multiplayer, no lootboxes, no “game as a service” plans – just a very solid (and finite) singleplayer experience. That makes it a rare gem these days, maybe one of the last of its kind. [Issue#238, p.42]

At the beginning of the game you’ll feel like you've already played this game... then it will let you go for a while only to return with reinforcements (and lots of bugs). However, Days Gone has a couple of pleasant moments, that can't be denied. [Issue#295]

I expect and hope for a sequel. Just know that going into this game that there is a lot of tedious nonsense to pad out a really good game to make it feel more worth every dollar, much to its detriment. I want to give this game a better score because the best moments are so good, but the large portion of this game is so bloody tiring that I just can’t.
