    The game is trash as is anyone who thinks it deserves better than 1/10. Anyone who likes this game should come with a warning that they are absolutely not fit for society. People should have something to signal that they are a danganronpa fan so humanity knows to give them a wide berth and avoid any contact with them.

    Incredible story and characters. I cried, laughed, got anxious, hopeful, afraid, butterflies, etc. Etc. This really had it all.

    I was so nervous because the 2nd game was so good and I didn't think anything could top it. I was so wrong and by the end of the 1st trial I absolutely loved these characters and was so invested to see this through to the end. Giving a 8 rating and not a 9-10    Incredible story and characters. I cried, laughed, got anxious, hopeful, afraid, butterflies, etc. Etc. This really had it all.

    I was so nervous because the 2nd game was so good and I didn't think anything could top it. I was so wrong and by the end of the 1st trial I absolutely loved these characters and was so invested to see this through to the end.

    Giving a 8 rating and not a 9-10 though because performance was terrible. Game crashed 8 times during pivotal moments. Sometimes it was a coin flip if i lost progress or not. Also the new 'lie' mechanic was just laughably bad and made no sense with any of the trials making it noticeably out of place.

    Towards the end the performance really chugged too, i was afraid the game would make it through because it lagged so hard for the final trial. Luckily was able to get through it but sorta hurt immersion a bit.

    I also really didn't like the new taxi mini game, everytime it cut to that i would definitely go 'ughhhh'.

    All very minor flaws though when compared to the over 50+ hour game length of just incredibly good story telling that had me at the edge of my seat. I finished this in a handful of weekends and no-lifed for a bit because I couldn't stop thinking about what happens next.

    That ending was incredible too. What a good way to end a series. Gave me goosebumps.    … Expand

    I really enjoyed this game, there are many flaws whatsoever.
    Positive aspects: Most of the characters are amazing and they had a GREAT development, the cases are interesting (yet quite predictable), great minigames and good plot twists in my personal opinion.
    Negative aspects: The predictable cases, the existence of the love hotel,I agree that some of the cases were pretty forced and    I really enjoyed this game, there are many flaws whatsoever.

    Danganronpa 3 still manages to subvert my expectations with amazing plot twists, especially during the first trial. Just like in the previous releases, characters are well developed and unique, the mystery is as thick as it gets. I enjoyed every trial, and some characters were very memorable, some definitely more than others. The debate scrum mechanic is absolutely EPIC with the backgroundDanganronpa 3 still manages to subvert my expectations with amazing plot twists, especially during the first trial. Just like in the previous releases, characters are well developed and unique, the mystery is as thick as it gets. I enjoyed every trial, and some characters were very memorable, some definitely more than others. The debate scrum mechanic is absolutely EPIC with the background music, it makes the trial more intense than ever. The english voice acting is perfect. The mastermind reveal was very cool but the rest of the ending didnt really do it for me, the mini-game was absurdly hard and not fun.     Firstly I must warn you about the final twist / reveal. While being interesting it ruined the game for me and harmed even Danganronpa 1 and 2. It is a deconstruction or like it is called today “Subverting expectations”. I looked it up and I am not alone with this. Fans of the franchise fall in between “Clever deconstruction” or “Destroying the established franchise”. Before that the gameFirstly I must warn you about the final twist / reveal. I looked it up and I am not alone with this. Fans of the franchise fall in between “Clever deconstruction” or “Destroying the established franchise”. Before that the game has the strengths of the franchise while being weaker that its predecessors. Those are interesting characters, well written cases and a story line that keeps you engaged. It is a visual novel videogame which is a mixture of detective game aka murder mystery investigation and daily school life. Some describe this as mixture of “Ace Attorney” and “Zero Escape”. To give you warnings. It is a new story line as the Hope Peak arc from the previous games ended not in a videogame but in the Anime “Danganronpa 3 The End of Hopes Peak High School”. The story starts again with 16 people with ultimate talents trapped in a killing game lead by a robotic and sadistic bear named Monokuma. The only way to escape is killing a fellow student. But this is not battle royal as you have to get away with the murder undetected and there are rules that are enforced. After a dead body is found all students investigate the crime scene and after some time passes there is a class trial where the evidence is analysed and the culprit is decided by mayor vote. If they get the right person the culprit is executed. If the majority is wrong everyone except the culprit is executed. This is the setting of the game. To be fair while it entertained me it is not as refreshing as before and some ideas feel recycled. Also it has the cast I liked the least from the 3 main games. The cases are mostly interesting but also are a bit weaker than in the prequels. To be fair the first one was a an intense highlight and the fifth one is a valid choice for the best in the franchise as even Monkuma got pushed into a corner. In between those I got a bit bored to be fair again. The gameplay is like I said a visual novel and less a true videogame. Spending time with fellow students and investigate murder cases when those happen. For the cases you collect evidence called truth bullets you use in class trials to fire at arguments (Visual system for discussions), present them and have some mini games. Those trials are intense and a highlight as the truth comes slowly out. Again or better said per franchise standard the graphics are dividing. I find them nice but they are a bit 2,5 dimensional and look like the scenery books for children that unfold by opening it. It could be a prime example for the phrase “It is not for everyone”. The soundtrack and voice actors are fine for me. Overall I was a bit disappointed before the final reveal that ruined the experience. I was thinking about a 7/10 rating before but the reveal draggs it to a 4/10 and I can see me giving a 1/10 to be fair for a third time. I would skip the game if you liked the first to to not ruin those with this games implications.… Expand

    i love everything about this game. music, characters, trails but the only reason keeping me from giving it a 10 is the text. the game has too much text in-between the trials and it can get boring when you are not in the middle of a trial

    I was completely satisfied with Danganronpa 1, 2 and 3 (anime) and was wondering where the story could possibly go from there

    Surpasses all its previous titles somehow with an amazing cast, mysteries and vastly improved visuals. Its lower rating is a shame because there is a lot of beauty to be found in this game, as well as its ending.

    V3 is the best game in the series, the art and music this time round are the best they've ever been. The class trials are the best in the series and the mini games have been refined to near perfection. Danganronpa fans will be very pleased with the characters and trials but may not like the direction the story heads. This was such a delight to play and I loved every second of it.

Even thought this game was not as good story-wise as Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa: Goodbye Despair, I felt this game was a lot of fun to play. All of the new mini games introduced in the class trial were a lot of fun (especially the scrum debate.) The ending was definitely not as bad as most people say but it’s not a masterpiece either. Some of the C.G. looked awful and rushed especially in chapter one.The cast was the most enjoyable out of the three games, even though this is kind of put into question after the mastermind reveals they apparently wrote those characters themself and so they’re all fake. The free time events for each of the characters are really good for the most part, some were a bit stupid but I really liked most. Lastly, the achievements that you had to complete outside of the main story were alright, some were awful while others were fun to achieve. the voice acting was phenomenal, I especially loved Shuichi’s Japanese even though it sounded a bit girlish I think it was supposed to represent the shy and unconfident detective Shuichi was supposed to be. Overall this game is no masterpiece but I am rating it based on my enjoyment and how well the game was.

    V3 bring a lot of innovation to the gameplay. With tons of interesting characters.
    Compare to 2nd game, the 2nd game got better environment and characters. But most case in V3 is better than 2. The first case alone in V3 is already amazing, you won't see it coming.
    The ending is also great. Never in my life have I seen an ending like this.

    Ok so I absolutely hate the ending of this game. It destroys all the work from the other games. For me it made me feel like it was an absolute waste of time playing these games.
    In the end the survivors find out they don't exist in the real world and are fictional and only exist in Danganronpa. They find out that all the other killing games are fictional as well. While the ending is truly controversial and both loved and hated by Danganronpa fans, this game is truly the most aesthetically pleasing and smooth-running game out of the entire franchise. Nevertheless, the trilogy is not without it's obvious flaws that prevent it from becoming a true masterpiece.

    The first game did an excellent job with establishing a despairing aura, yet struggled with establishing the core story as it dropped all the important details on us last-minute.

    The second game did an excellent job with story and character development in the beginning, yet began to lose steam after the second arc as they failed to properly conclude interesting plot details and added in too many random and pointless developments.

    This game's main flaw, however, is that by the end of the game, it tries to make us feel bad for being Danganronpa fans in the first place. That's the main twist that has many fans divided.

    My personal opinion, however, is that this game did a better job than the first two with establishing consistent and interesting plot and character development throughout the entire game while still giving us huge twists along the way that were right in front of our faces all along. In addition, the smoothness and aesthetically pleasing gameplay truly makes the other two look completely outdated in comparison.

    In conclusion, be it as it may, this is my favorite Danganronpa game in the entire trilogy. It completely fixes all the other problems that the other two games had while still maintaining the key themes and gameplay elements that made the other two games so beloved.    … Expand

While this one had better trial mechanics, this one had fewer likeable characters and was often predictable if you remember the events of the first 2 games to the point you can guess which character will be killed off and know who not to bother getting attached too early. My main problem with the Danganronpa series was that i always managed to pretty much guess the class trails result before they would happen, but with Danganronpa V3 i was still unsure who the blackend was even when it was time to vote.

    My main problem with this game however would be the characters..mainly the female characters. A lot of them are pretty one note and you don't start to see much growth until pretty late in the game. While ive always praised this series for managing to make you care if an "unlikable character" is killed, with this game there was a stage when i was really hoping some of them would be killed.
    However saying this, this game includes a few of my favourites characters of all time.

    In closing i can only imagine that if you are a fan of the previous games you will at least be able to appreciate this one even if the twists are not to youre taste. A game that keeps the Danganronpa series fresh.    … Expand

    I really love the franchise and specially this game. Beautiful and exciting music, amazing story and turns, the only little bit of a let down for me was the ending, but in the end something comoletely original that had never seen or thought about, despite of that fact the game is still perfect and since case 1 you get completely driven in the story and want immediatly more.

This game is pretty much a 40 hours long version of case 2-3 (Turnabout Big Top) from the Ace Attorney series but with a terrible tryhard meta ending. Sharing the same problems as the infamous case: the lack of a coherent story, and characters that feel bland and stupid amidst mistimed nonsense comic relief. Let's break it down.

    A futuristic setting with a fresh theme of Lies vs. Truth. With all the hype built through the years that preceded the release, the expectations were high for this game. After two incredible main games, with interesting twists and (some) memorable characters, the start of a new saga unrelated to the Hope's Peak Arc fills everybody with hope and despair.

    Firstly, the new mechanics. The new minigames are not an improvement, they still feel somewhat the same from the previous games, not appealing but kinda nice to break the monotony of a tiring class trial. Perjury is an interesting concept, but it was poorly worked: the back routes could be interesting but are way too short to the point of feeling more like an easter egg than a feature; I also don't like the fact it isn't optional at some points. Debate Scrums are stupid, require no thinking and the fact you're always on the correct side is annoying. Panic Debates despite being more realistic are just chaotic in this game, most of the characters are just spouting gibberish while you're the one panicking trying to end it asap.

    Secondly, the common points. Some cases are fantastic, V3 has some of the best murders mysteries of the series; on the other hand, some are pretty streched, forced, and/or predictable (i.e. cases 2 and 3). Executions are decent, the usual weirdness is there. Monokuma feels off without the Despair vs. Hope fight being the focus. "Junko" is bad. Side character (Maki) is pretty good despite being somewhat generic and lackluster after Kirigiri and Chiaki. Rival (Kokichi) is way duller than appears, with a conflicting character development that results in him being outshined by Komaeda and even Togami.

    The game starts pretty strong, with a solid and surprising first case (if you finished the game you know that this case loses all its shine due to the deus ex machina randomly thrown in it). It's still early in the game, and it introduces new potentially interesting characters. The twist is exciting and shocking. The new theme is introduced coherently and somewhat well developed. Monokubs are downright annoying and unnecessary.

    On the Chapter 2 it starts to feel uneasy. At this point it's made clear that Gonta, Himiko, Kaito, Miu and Tenko are irrelevant, instead they'll be repetitive comic relief characters with annoying catchphrases and/or lack of real personality for the rest of the game. The "How" is predictable, and the case is able to ruin and kill the characters with the most potential.

    Chapter 3 is about an incestuous creepy crazy serial killer with dissociative identity disorder murdering two people outta nowhere for his dead sister that is actually himself. Sounds ludicrous, right? Yeah. "How" and "Who" are obvious. Case is annoying, tries to have this mythical and eerie vibe. Just ends up being stupid.

    Chapter 4 is pretty good. The "How" is somewhat predictable, but the way the case progresses is really interesting. Here we get to see some real antagonism by Kokichi, which is way better than him just lying to stall the trial "for fun".

    Chapter 5 has an awesome trial, to me one of the best from all 3 main games. it has twists enough to make the player question their own sanity. "Who", "How" and "Why" are completely unpredictable and masterfully done. Kokichi's character development from the previous chapters is thrown outta the window. Here we see the effort that should've been put into the whole game.

    Chapter 6 is what we all know. In a rushed attempt to tie all the loose ends it ruins the first case, sh*ts over the already bad story to replace it with a bad 4th wall breaking ""plot"" twist. No decent internal conflict, terrible mastermind, discards all development the game had built, etc.

    The "story" progression has no effort, it's just about collecting the vague Flashback Lights and comical events; the characters are just apathetic after the trials; the comic relief ends up being vulgar and mechanical. In the end, it does deliver what it intends: a bunch of uninteresting characters without any real talent, a washed-up charmless shallow reality show, a Bollywoodesque absurd story that gets a little too self-conscious, and Monokuma(s).

    Intentionally or not, this game is clearly an unpleasant satire of the own Danganronpa franchise. The fact people just seem to ignore this and love it blindly to feel better about wasting their money is one of the most uncomfortable aspects of this game to me. It mocks every player and every meta game, pointing out how oblivious this fanbase has grown.
    I'd say this game deserves a 53/100 to match its title, but that would be a lie    … Expand

    Bueno... para empezar la jugabilidad en los juicios mejoro, con buenos minijuegos y gran contenido secundario, el desarrollo de los personajes sigue siendo brutal, como también la historia y los giros argumentales, y el capitulo 6 te va a sorprender mucho, aunque como fan te va a dejar un mal sabor de boca. En conclusión vale la pena jugarlo si sos un gran fan de la saga.

In previous iterations, the game slowly immersed you into the killing school life as though you were living it side-by-side with the characters, but Spike Chunsoft decided to double down on despair this time by attempting to blend fiction with reality and the end result left me feeling detached from everything I thought I knew and loved about this franchise. I understand what they were going for, and if Danganronpa was a movie perhaps it’s plot wouldn’t be so maligned, but when the objective of advancing a trial involves physically putting the controller down for story progression, that is a line no game should cross. At times it felt, for lack of a better expression, like a massive troll job.

    Don’t get me wrong, V3 is still a good game worth picking up for any Danganronpa fan. Ultimately, though, I’m not sure it’s worth the emotional investment of the previous games. To each his own.    … Expand

I’m sorry Japan, I love you but this one is just way beyond my taste. If you like ‘visual novels’ you might like Danganronpa V3: The Killing Harmony.     I've been a longtime Danganronpa follower, though wouldn't go so far as to call myself a "fan." I have certainly enjoyed previous games, but never thought they were revelatory. I think Danganronpa V3 is revelatory. It perfects the formula (though the trials were perhaps a bit longer than I'd have loved), and has some really strong things to say. I loved V3, and can easily recommend it -I've been a longtime Danganronpa follower, though wouldn't go so far as to call myself a "fan." I have certainly enjoyed previous games, but never thought they were revelatory. I think Danganronpa V3 is revelatory.     While it does not reinvent the wheel it honestly does not need to as v3 is an excellent addition to the serious with everything you love back and better than ever" frankly I could go into more but you should play the others first and even if you have you will know what to expect but that does not make it any less great.

    I would give this higher, but I know later down the line and looking back this is by no means a 9 or even 10 in terms of the game’s scope. But if the writing kept its pacing from start to finish, it would’ve matched the astonishing soundtrack, blistering court cases, impeccable murders, and superb characters. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to find myself a tissue for the tears I shed to those lost in this Killing Game.

    The narrative choice made is going to be massively divisive in the fan base. It's a bold choice; it's an interesting choice; it's the wrong choice. Sometimes it can be about the destination and not the journey, especially if the driver suddenly swerves into a wall.
