Mar 8, 2017hat is important to any great visual novel is that it has great writing, and the Danganronpa games are by turns hilarious, reflective, intense and jovial, the characters are all unique and interesting, and the twists and turns are often startling. Visual novels just don’t get better than these.

May 1, 2017Danganronpa 1-2 Reload takes two fantastic point-and-click visual novels and ties them up in one discounted package. Between both games and some surprisingly fun post-game alternative modes, Reload offers over 60 hours of content. If you’ve already played through these games, the only incentives to double-dipping are if you want both games in the same package and the ability to play it on your PS4. If you haven’t experienced the series, then this game is the best way to get your fix of high school murder mysteries, trigger-happy courtroom action, and psycho bears. Oh my!

Apr 24, 2017Danganronpa 1-2 Reload is an easy recommendation. It’s a visual novel, yes. You’re going to spend a lot of time reading. However, just about everything you read will entertain you in some way as you watch these incredibly strong personalities play off each other.

Mar 29, 2017To the uninitiated to the wild world of Danganronpa, at the bargain price point only $39.99, there is really no excuse for any PS4 owner that isn’t severely adverse to the idea of reading to not pick this up. This collection features some of the most exciting and mind-bending adventures I’ve had the pleasure of reading, and it remains just as it was three years ago, highly recommended.

Mar 10, 2017It’s really exciting that non-Vita players are finally getting a chance to play this series with Danganronpa 1&2 Reload. Even having played them through multiple times before, I found that I couldn’t put the controller down as I experienced them again on PS4, and not just because of my review. Though they start off a little slow, the pace at which they begin to move is exceptionally thrilling, and you’ll find yourself drawn in until the very end, especially if it’s your first time through.

Mar 8, 2017Numerous Japanese visual novels have been coming to English-speaking audiences lately, many of them excellent. The Zero Escape series manages to excite and confound, the Phoenix Wright games lets players live out a Japanese take on Law & Order and even BlazBlue got in on it via the X-Blaze series. Danganronpa manages to eke out a place at the top of the pack. Players new to the series have no reason to pass up this collection. Both games are extremely well written and hard to put down. Returning players who already know the solutions to all of the conundrums but don’t mind re-experiencing the story will find a better looking version of the original two titles here. Since this is releasing at a lower price, that’s enough of a reason to go through again in preparation for Danganronpa V3.
-
Mar 7, 2017Full of elaborate puzzles and mysteries, Danganronpa 1.2 Reload brings two excellent visual novels to PlayStation 4 for a great price.
-
Mar 7, 2017Danganronpa 1.2 Reload on PlayStation 4 collects two of my favourite games in a long time into a single package that is immense value but the port could’ve been a bit better.
-
Apr 7, 2017While the user comfort within these exceptionally bizarre anime thrillers is reduced due to lack of touch functionality, technically you can expect faster loading times and crisp visuals.
-
Apr 21, 2017Danganronpa 1 & 2 Reload provides a powerful and gripping experience that will keep players addicted from the opening sequence until the final credits begin to roll. If you enjoy disturbing visual novels, odd characters, and solving murders, then Danganronpa 1 & 2 Reload is well worth experiencing.
-
Mar 24, 2017These two games are brilliant. Teddy bears aren't always cute. Sometimes they are very very very sadistic. So, try to survive in this visual novel.
-
Mar 13, 2017Danganronpa 1.2 Reload brings together two amazing visual novels with a story full of mystery, murders and incredible plot twists.
-
Mar 13, 2017Danganronpa is a series that gives the player unforgettable moments, and this collection is the best option for those who have never played it or those who want to go back to it.
-
Mar 13, 2017With its strong artistic direction and the captivating story, Danganronpa 1·2 Reload is a must have for fans of visual novels and detective stories. The only problem - and the only reason why you shouldn't play it - is that it's a collection of games developed for portable consoles: if you own a PS Vita, you'll probably have already in your collection.
-
May 3, 2017The Danganronpa series is concerned with the ongoing battle between the power of hope and the power of despair, and while these games are overlong and peppered with some less-than-stellar moments, the excellent plots give the player a sense of hope for the future of dynamic narrative in videogames. This is some of the best, most suspenseful, storytelling that I’ve ever seen attempted in the medium. While there’s no new content and the graphics remain unchanged from the Vita versions, 1.2 Reload is a great jumping-on point for fans of visual novels who’ve never experienced the series before.
-
Apr 24, 2017Although the first title grabbed my attention more than the second, Danganronpa 1.2 Reload are a pair of games that engulf you quite effectively into their worlds. These two titles come highly recommended.
-
Apr 17, 2017Danganronpa 1 & 2 are two excellent games, but this PS4 port is a lazy one. You should prefer buying the two separate games on Vita if you have one. If you don't though, then consider buying this PS4 collection and discover a wonderful Visual Novel series(the 3rd episode is coming soon !).
-
Apr 10, 2017Controls move from the Vita to the PS4 easily, though gameplay itself seems better suited for a portable console. Gameplay is incredibly taxing at times — especially courtroom scenes — so it’s one you’ll likely play for short bursts rather than a marathon. Still, this is a great package for those without a PS Vita — Danganronpa is a must-play.
-
Mar 22, 2017Danganronpa 1-2 Reload is a mostly successful conversion of two brilliantly unique visual novel games. The constant plot twists and left-field stories makes these games stand out from the crowd and the murder trials are really unique and enjoyable. If you’ve never played a visual novel game before this is an excellent place to start, and if you’re a Danganronpa veteran this is the definitive package.
-
Mar 16, 2017A very welcome compilation of two of the best story-based games of recent years, that manage to transcend their anime presentation and apparent absurdity.
-
Mar 15, 2017Interesting pack for the PS4 which includes two of the best interactive novel games out there: Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc and Goodbye Despair.
-
Mar 14, 2017Throughout the 30+ hours I’ve poured into Danganronpa 1.2 Reload’s two games, I’ve discovered an absolute gem of a video game series that rewards players not with action-packed gameplay, but superbly-written, sinister tales that had me hooked from start to finish.
-
Mar 13, 2017For the ones who don't own a Vita (and, unfortunately, there's a lot of them), Danganronpa 1-2 Reload is a great chance to experience two of the best visual novels around at a bargain price. But for the ones that already played them , this PS4 package doesn't bring anything new to the table.
-
Mar 7, 2017One part Persona, one part Ace Attorney, and one part Battle Royale, Trigger Happy Havoc and Goodbye Despair are two of the very best murder mystery titles available for PS4 right now, together in one pack. While the games may move just a tad too slowly for some players, those willing to take a chance on a visual novel with a difference will find Danganronpa to be a fascinating, multi-faceted, frequently surprising story that's among the most compelling on the market, full of engaging characters, anarchic humour, and jaw-dropping twists.
-
Apr 5, 2017Quotation forthcoming.
-
Mar 19, 2017Two interesting visual novels with unforgettable moments and a fantastic artistic direction in a single package for PlayStation 4.
-
Mar 14, 2017Danganronpa 1.2 Reload includes Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc and Goodbye Despair, two of the best visual novels out there with great stories, strong crime-solving mechanics and deep characters. PS Vita version is still preferable.
-
Mar 28, 2017For those who already owned both Danganronpa games in handheld or PC, this PS4 collection offers little-to-no additions, and becomes a case-by-case basis of whether it’s worth dipping in again. For newcomers, this is a bargain price for two of the most memorable adventure games in years, featuring all sorts of stylized artwork and utterly insane twists and turns. It may be more of an extracurricular than a mandatory course, but this collection tour of despair is still worth enrolling in.
-
Mar 13, 2017While it won't win any awards for how it repackages the material, Danganronpa 1.2 Reload deserves attention for making two of the most captivating and mind-bending murder mysteries in any medium more accessible.
