The gameplay of this remake is very nostalgic, phisics and feedback is very very looks like the original version of PS1. I'll recommend to everyone play this game!Crash is back and in an amazing way. Crash was my first ever platformer for the PS1. Followed by Crash 2 and Crash 3 just making the series get better and better every time.

A lot of heart went into recreating these games…
This collection is a reminder that our favorite games aren’t as great as we remembered..
But with the polish and care that went into the insane trilogy to bring it up to date…
I feel this collection is a must have for any platforming fan..

No matter how much I played, I never knew what was coming next. Naughty Dog did a great job at creating these games, two of which have managed to defy the odds and remain some of the best platformers ever up to two decades after release, and Vicarious Visions has made them look better than ever thanks to the delightfully personable animations on Crash and crew.

For those that say it's only 30fps. Big deal, who gives a **** beside wannabe hipsters. This is not a first person shooter, you don't need 60fps. There is essentially zero difference visually or game play wise.
People that complain about 30fps are the same people that buy a brand name 300$ T-Shirt. They are more concern with the brand than functionality.

The N-Sane Trilogy doesn't do much to fix the problems of the originals, but I like that about it. It's not an apology for the original's mistakes, it a celebration of their success, and a pretty good one too!

    Bought it.

First the amazing Last of Us, then the spectacular Uncharted 4, and now their classic game series Crash has been rebuilt from the ground up for PS4, and the developers have done a fantastic job. Now this is how you do a remaster! This collection is absolutely incredible! As someone who grew up with Crash Bandicoot on the PS1, the smile this bought to my face during load-up was enormous! The sheer joy from replaying those childhood memories is amazing, especially given how good this remaster is! Some of my main points are as follows:

    - The graphics are stunning, the characters are excellently animated and the environments are gorgeous. The colours just pop, and it's nice to see how much attention to detail has been paid to the original level design. I haven't played the original in over a decade but I instantly remembered the levels when replaying them!

    - The controls are superb, they are highly sensitive and make platforming a challenge, but they're also rewarding. Anyone who complains about the controls is clearly lacking an ability to handle their precision. They are quite unforgiving, but that's the point! A platforming game is supposed to have tricky platforming.

    - Great replay value! The crystals and gems will take a few play-throughs, but there's now also time trials in all three games. This was originally only in Crash 3, so it's quite cool that they retrospectively added these to the first two games. Of course, there are also three platinum trophies to collect.

    - The soundtrack has been masterfully remastered! As with the level design, I instantly recalled the catchy music, especially in levels like "Road to Nowhere" and "Native Fortress". It sounds very similar to the originals but a bit more upbeat and modernised. They truly did a great job on staying true to the originals, but with a new twist.

Seriously, you simply cannot ask for more when it comes to this collection! Finally, after years of ruining Crash Bandicoot, Activision has finally given us fans what we've wanted for so long, and they nailed! Everyone needs to buy this game!

If it sells well enough, hopefully we will see a remaster of Crash Team Racing, and who knows... maybe Spyro the Dragon! Buy this great collection and prepare for hours of fun!

First of all let me clear something up before i dive into the review: I loved the original Crash Bandicoot games on the Playstation (Those from Naughty Dog) and so i knew what to expect, and also realize this game may be a bit to simplistic and linear compared to modern 3D platform games, but this is my opinion, so if you can accept that, read on :-)

First of all the thing that striked me most are obviously the improved graphics. Yes, i was also surprised that the PS4 could not hit 60 fps, but even on my 65 inc OLED 4K 3D tv, i did not noticed the lower frame rate to badly. I guess it's because of the speed of this game is rather low, and so no huge movement at the horizon, and so i did not felt to manny frames where missing. Add to this the wonderful redrawn graphics, and the cool lighting effects, and i was still surprised in a positive way, even after getting the game knowing the frame rate was not that high (i saw the video from Digital Foundry before getting the game)

The sound on the PS version was allready great, and fitted the game perfectly. It now sounds a bit more clear and the low ends improve the punch of the drums and bass guitar a lot on a proper stereo. Add to this the fun sound bites from the game, and it's clear Vicarious Visions did their best to deliver a proper version of the 3 CB games.

Of course gameplay is most important, and here comes the part where i can't say this game is for everyone. I have played the orginal games a lot, and finished them all, and after playing the remakes, i was happy the control felt mostly the same, with some minor tweaks. Nothing to different to make it feel it's not a Crash Bandicoot game, but still, here and there where moments that i had to adopt my playing style to pass some more dificult parts in some stages. So for me, the game still holds up well, but i am afraid for some the game play may be to shallow, even compared with Mario 64, so i respect this game is not for everyone.

Lastabillity is also improtant, next to game play, and here is where the game value lies: You don't pay full price, but you do get 3 full games (i have to admid those are conversions from old 3D platform games, but still, it's like you would get all NeoGeo Metal Slug games on one cartridge instead of having to buy them seperately, so having the complete series of CB is a good thing to me, they could have also released them seperate, and still ask the same price) So if you are like me, and you loved the Playstation versions, you will be bussy for a while before you finish everything in the games they offer.

My conclusion is for me, i will get my moneys worth out of this compilation, and would re play the games even after finishing them all, so for me, Vicarious Visions have succeed in what i was hoping those games would be. So feel free to like the game, or if you never had a thing for Crash Bandicoot you don't like to "basic" semi 3D platformers, this game is not for you.

Let's start with those who have; it's a fantastic rendition of the classics. Every level is more lively with luscious amounts of colour, character and good design bringing the game into a pleasing nostalgic up to date experience. You iiked Crash Bandicoot? You'll love it, don't hesitate to rewind your years and feel like a kid again...unless you were an adult at the time too, in which case get it still...and feel like a...younger...adult...yea.

Now, gamers who have not played Crash Bandicoot I will keep it short. Imagine playing a 2D platformer but in 3D over 3 'lanes' occasionally giving you a 2.5D classic platformer; this is the simple idea behind Crash's gameplay. It works, and it works well. This is just simply because it looks great and level design allows a smooth casual sit on your sofa experience and for the first time in a long time we've played it with a few people passing around the controller to try and beat the level or get a better time in a time trial mode that unlocks on passing the level. It is just back to basics fun out of the box and I implore gamers to grab it. You are getting 3 games with some very tricky hard to earn gems...you're getting lots of hours here if you're a completionist. The general difficulty can get a bit all over the place but this was - and is - part of Crash Bandicoots endearing design. I am trying not to give the impression I am biased towards 'games were better in my day', because in all honesty a lot weren't after revisiting them, this game however is a standout.

I can't give this game a perfect score, and this is more from a technical standpoint. The game itself I think should be able to run comfortably at 60 frames for smoother gameplay, but it doesn't with some noticeable frame drops in certain parts. Even though the PS4 Pro exists and probably doesn't have the issue, I still think this game should of easily been able to hit the gamers ideal framerate on the standard console. The controls don't also feel as responsive given the nature of the gameplay is about timing. Those aside though it doesn't run terribly, most people won't even know. I have a PC that easily runs games at high FPS, which has made it more noticeable for me.

I don't mind being tough. Hell, I was stuck on Dark Souls 3 with the Lothric boss fight for a while but I made it through and I managed to beat the game twice. But making arbitrary hitboxes that don't make sense is ridiculous, especially for a jumping platform.

This does not just happen in Crash 3, this also happens in all games. In Crash 1, the Native Fortress level, you're forced to hold to jump to move from one iron box to another but if you don't hit right on the head, you're going splat. And the shield natives on the levels as soon as you jump, they sent you backward, you have to jump onto the ledge and then jump quickly again and try to spin in mid air in order to get the shield natives to raise their shield above their head to block. This game has some of the most insane hit detection in that a lot of times the natives will send you back as soon as you try to do the second jump. Try doing that when you're stuck between the shield native and the flaming lamp and see how you'll like the game. Some of the levels are fun, but a lot of the levels are tedious because of the mechanics and insane hit detection, this game is not good.

I do have to note, however, that the hit detection in this game is complete crap; you will slip off of ledges that you landed on, enemies you spun into will not be hit, enemies you didn't touch will kill you, (the turtles especially), and it is a major nuisance when going for the colored gems and relics. This is not an issue in the other 2 due to the slide jump in 2 & 3, and power-ups in 3. Crash Bandicoot 2, while introducing the always fun slide jump, suffers from poor level design. It is made worse by the dash boots being added to it. The game was not made for that speed, leading to cheap deaths. The relics are ridiculous and the game is more annoying than it is fun. Crash Bandicoot: Warped is just an average experience if you are just going through it, but if you are fully completing it like I did, it is the best in the trilogy and the most fun by far. It also has a lot of variety, something the other 2 games lack. Overall, a collection of 2 of the best PS1 games of all time, and one lackluster one. Expand

The controls feel very smooth and natural, very close to the original titles. However, this time Crash's hitbox in more circular than square which does make him slide off platforms more easily. This makes some of the jumps quite tricky and more difficult than before, but it's nothing that breaks the game, it just adds some extra difficulty. To some that may even be a plus. I personally love a challenge and the precise and fun controls make it a total blast.

The levels also look incredibly gorgeous. They are faithful recreations of the original landscapes brought into a beautiful HD appearance. The layout, enemies, and collectables are all the same but with a fresh coat of modern day graphic paint. The only problem with the visuals is the lighting on Crash himself. It's very awkward in some areas, but that's about the only visual problem I can think of.

The story and characters are as you know him. The vocal performances are fantastic, and you'll be glad to meet your favorite heroes and villains again. The gameplay is as solid as ever and the game is candy to the eye. With the only problems being a minor lighting issue and overly precise controls, the N. Sane Trilogy deserves a 9.

I understand that they wanted to keep the original experience, but come on boys, it's unacceptable a gameplay like this in 2020 (or in PS4 in short.). Vicarious Visions' re-master of the original Crash bandicoot trilogy is one nice looking game. The graphics are great. It would've been nice if it ran at 60fps but, as it is, I didn't get any eye strain. The music and sounds are fairly spot on as well. It sounds good for the most part.

The gameplay, however, has some kinks. The gameplay should be such that as soon as crash lands on something he stops dead in his tracks. Whether that means changing the default pill shape hitbox or programming it so crash stops, it should have been addressed. Especially for a game like this that requires precise timing of jumps and such and it would be more authentic to the original. Pretty amateurish fail.

Another typical amateur move, especially back in the day, is that the joystick has a huge dead zone. Not only that but the difference in joystick position between when crash walks and runs is way too small. So what ends up happening is that you move the joystick a bit, nothing. A bit more nothing. More still, nothing. Then a bit more and crash walks then a bit more and he's running. This game is how NOT to program analog movement controls 101. I never understood the joystick dead zone. To prevent accidental movement? I don't recall this ever being a problem. So you're going to botch gameplay for everyone for the rare case scenario when someone has to scratch their nose in the middle of gameplay? Ridiculous. I mean, look at A Link Between Worlds (most devs should look to Nintendo on how to do things right). That game out 4 years before crash trilogy. Perfect analog movement, with no dead zone, and a much wider range of speeds than a binary walk/run.

One other thing that was annoying was the loading times. The PS4 has like, what, 8GB of RAM right? For example, in Crash 1, why couldn't the main map stay in memory? What level in any of these games is larger than a fraction of total memory? I find it hard to believe that all that loading was really necessary.

Having said all that, the game is still pretty fun even with the pad (although hair-pullingly difficult at times). It's good but could have been better. Vicarious Visions haven't really redeemed themselves here. Whether it was a decision at Activision (wouldn't surprise me in the least) or incompetence by the designers and/or programmers, the fact is that gameplay is king. Always has been. Always will be. And, although serviceable, it seems like gameplay was a paltry second to sound and visuals.

Two things are game-breaking - hitboxes and slippery jumping. Enemies hit you when they're nowhere near. Even when you land on a platform, if you're anywhere near the edge you'll slip off. Originals were better.

Well yes it is. It has a pretty great graphic engine, a price tag of $40 and plenty of content that can keep you entertained. The problem however lies in not just Crash's gameplay, but its history too. People giving this a 10/10, or a 9/10 are likely omitting huge and important issues with the game that seems to give the impression that rose-tinted glasses of nostalgia is clouding their judgments. I liked Crash Warped when it first came out, but I was a drooling little kid that wasn't analyzing games and critiquing them like now. That's where this trilogy is in currently: Critiqueland.

The first major issue of the trilogy is the controls. The D-pad on the PSX controller was very hard to play Crash and Coco across levels. Jumping to the analog usage (including the originals already built in on the PS4 dpad) does alleviate some of the issues that had. Considering in platforming games you need responsive controls above all things to make sure you can make jumps is crucial, and this trilogy doesn't allow this. On the contrary, it worsens it. The vehicle missions (in warped in particular) is very cumbersome and annoying to maneuver in. The fact I repeat certain parts because the controls kept killing me or causing problems isn't a good thing to have. Even spinning and miss my timings for jumping on enemies for even a brief second would be far more unfair than what's allowed.

The next issue is the running away levels usually under DASH or Run. They stay true to the original but the main problems with those levels were the unpredictable obstacles Crash or Coco would run into that you had very little time to react or else the thing behind you would kill you. I would have much preferred the level to have a optional camera control where you can at least see where youre going at all times, something Spyro did as a contemporary and proved to be a better game trilogy.

The camera is a huge issue for this game because if you ever want to backtrack to areas, you won't be able to see or instantly remember the next area and have you killed because you couldn't see it based on the camera not allowing you. Especially for a game that was designed for kids, you want them to be able to see where they are going and not be upset that the game won't let them move the camera that Ratchet and Clank and Mario games do very well.

Repetition and the mundane level design also shows as well. Beating a level and yielding a crystal is standard most will get over the three games, but if you wish to achieve more gems you have to do absolutely insane and stupid things that would easily frustrate you. Gems require ALL boxes to be smashed, so miss a single box and you have to repeat the whole level (especially if you miss a single box on a bonus round) to get that one gem. Obviously on early levels this is not so bad but on later levels they can be extremely tedious and annoying rather than fun and enjoyable. Relics are even more stupid because they require the player to beat the level under a time limit that they never specify. If you don't succeed or die at any point in the level (as checkpoints are turned off) you have to repeat the whole level again, which can be irritating to ludicrous depending on the map.

A few other issues I have is more of Crash's animations. I get they wanna make him goofy and silly, but having him do the exact same animation everytime he gets a gem or relic is really boring and loses its charm quickly. Coco can now be selected to do missions alongside Crash (aside from a few exceptions), but they don't change anything to the formula; it's just a gender format to appease both sexes. Bosses are a joke to kill and only a few are even worth a challenge. Autosaving seems unnecessary because most levels are short and can be completed in a matter of seconds. Load times are a tad bit too long for me when booting up the game AND going to levels. Considering the length of the levels, the tedium to getting gems and mixing the camera and controls in, you can easily backfire players who havent played the games ever easily and prove immensely frustrating.

This doesn't mean the game sucks. I like the graphics, Warped allows abilities and vehicle missions and 2 jumped from the first with better levels and creativity. 1 wasn't that good originally and it only worsens now.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is a good deal for three games. Fans will buy this with no issue, but newcomers might turn away after a few hours. Nostalgia is a dangerous thing to have and people should focus on the games and their structures more than graphics or seeing Crash do stupid things on screen. I enjoyed them as a kid, but as an adult I know platformers are "dead" for a reason. Crash reminds me of good times, but bad times too.

A great platformer is all about precise controls Which this game sorely lacks. The visuals are great but the gameplay isn't. There is an ongoing meme about it being dark souls level difficult, but that's incorrect as dark souls is fair. This games difficulty comes purely from terrible hit detection and controls.

Developers from Vicarious Visions have remade all graphics from the ground up, and the results are mostly fantastic. I say mostly, because Crash Bandicoot's new design deviates a bit from the original (I think it's become more kid-friendly than I'd like it to be, the original was targeting teenagers and young adults), but it still works. My only complaint is that the game runs at just 30 fps. I played the N. Sane Trilogy on PS5, unfortunately there is no next gen patch to unlock frame rate, and the comparisons between this and Astro's Playroom favor the latter in terms of fluidity and responsiveness.

Crash Bandicoot has always been a linear 3D platformer with no exploration around the map, unlike its contemporary Super Mario 64. Crash Bandicoot games were never the best or most imaginative in the platformer genre, but Crash was the coolest character during Playstation's heyday in the 90s.

This collection is more of a nostalgia throwback for those that were around when Crash Bandicoot was a worldwide pop culture phaenomenon, than a title that will appeal to modern audiences. But in any case I'd suggest everyone start with the last game and proceed backwards to the first one. Crash Bandicoot 3 is mainstream, it's almost devoid of difficulty and no one will have issues beating the game to the last boss with 10-20 spare lives. The first Crash Bandicoot game on the other hand is a notoriously hardcore platformer, too difficult even for the standards of its era. Crash Bandicoot 2 holds a middle ground between the other two games, it's both challenging and accessible, although it's closer to the third game in terms of overall difficulty.

It was fun to go back to the Crash Bandicoot games (I played all 3 games many years ago). I'll also try the new Crash Bandicoot 4 that seems like fun.

Finally I got around to picking up the trilogy and I must say that I didn’t love it. It just didn’t feel right to me for some reason. I am very picky and peculiar about my Platformers and this just didn’t feel right.

After a couple hours, I was done with the game and was ready to move onto to something else. Now if the rumors are true and they remake a Spyro Trilogy, that will be up my alley.

After all theses years I thought that these problems we're going to be solved, but it's still a pain in the butt. I feel sorry that Crash Bandicoot is on a same level as Sonic the Hedgehog: Really great at first but after a lot of games and spinoffs, it's boring and old. I can now understand why Naughty Dog left this project and invested on games like Uncharted and The Last of Us. It was a very smart move. Expand

The Crash trilogy were great platformers so a remake was definitely coming. This remake did a great job enhancing the graphics and sounds. The facial expressions that were good on the PS1 are amazing on the PS4. But... I'm looking at this game as it is a remake. Not as a new game. There were some issues not fixed that should have be fixed like the difficulty spikes and the camera.

O maior problema desse jogo é a movimentação, que te trola muito, além de que voce não consegue calcular o espaço entre as coisas. O jogo também tem um problema com o range dos ataques que muitas vezes pareceu bugado para mim.

I am a long time crash bandicoot fan. Crash bandicoot Cortex strikes back was the first game i ever played. The series has been dead for many years but it has been revived in the N.sane trilogy. The games look and sound fantastic, but the biggest complaint is obvious, it's the controls. The controls feel awkward and clunky. The spin, slide and slide jump are great but the normal jump and air-time are bad. Your biggest enemy is not the hostile enemies but instead they are holes and pits because of the awkward jumping. The power-ups are good but the speed shoes feel a bit nerfed. Previously when you use the speed-shoes and jump, the momentum would carry over and resolved in a longer jump, but in this game that jump is shortened and is not very helpful anymore. The vehicle controls in Crash Warped is horrible. The bike is on exception. Plane levels are more difficult because it feels like the enemies have aim-bot. The Jet-ski is the worst thing in the game. They are slippery, hard to be precise and overall not fun at all. Coco's tiger levels are now more fast paced and usually end up falling in pits more often than previously. Crash Bandicoot is better in the N.sane version but Crash Bandicoot Cortex strikes back and Crash Bandicoot Warped are not. Not a bad game but a bit disappointing. Expand

I liked the remaster of the first part but when I am already at the Crash Bandicoot 2 part, I easily get bored and just not continue. I bought the game a while back and I am still not done with Part 2. Maybe I will try it again and hopefully get into it. Buying it at the same time as Witcher 3 definitely is a reason though.

When I played the first level on the first game (I don't know what it's called) abd it was alright. Then the game, as well as the three other games became intolerable and rage inducing, even remembering getting headaches out of sheer stress, to the point that I almost gave up, but put the game down for a long period of time.

Eventually, I managed to reach the final boss of each of the three games through some cheap tactics and cheating, but just reaching the final boss is a chore in all three games.

After beating the games, I honestly forgot 92.7% of the three games. Probably because many levels were sometimes carbon copies of existing levels but either stretched or added stuff.

I didn't bother with getting all boxes in all levels, nor time trials, nor bonus levels, not even the dlc levels.

Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy has got to be the most shallowest remake of recent times. Literally all you need to do across all three games is to run from point A to point B, avoiding enemies and/or breaking boxes with nothing else to do. Some of the levels reuses the same designs from other levels, so it's very hard to distinguish from levels such as toad village or gee whiz. Plus, some of the boss battles are forgettable.

The controls are decent, but Crash felt a bit heavy, even when you press and hold the jump button to gain extra height. In my experience, I felt like playing through the trilogy to be quite of a chore for me from the start of each game to only beating the final boss. After beating the game, I just chucked the game in my shelf and never touched it again.

I'm going to say that when I got the PS4 Pro, after copying everything from my original PS4, I deleted the game from my PS4 Pro.

Graphics are good but that’s it. The gameplay is awful. Terrible hit boxes. Unrealistic enemies. Crash is one of those games that should be left in the past as a fun child hood memory. This crap remake has ruined the franchise. Garbage controls makes it unplayable. Save your money and buy something else.
