It's About Time, Era ora.

Its awesome that we finally get a proper crash sequel. This game was really fun but i have to lower it by 2 points because it’s downright frustrating at times , i died up to 200 times in some levels it was that hard. Takes alot of patience to play this game
And collecting everything is way too hard it’s ridiculous. But as a massive crash fun since childhood this game was really good.

This game is great. Definitely the best from the series imo and I think toys for bob really understood how to make this game faithful to the original. The story is also way more vibrant and they really made coco have a prominent role in the story, and the animations are beautiful as well. My only gripe with this game though is how hard it is to obtain the costumes/skins you can unlock. In a normal play through, I was only able to get 1 costume during it and I kinda wish i was able to get them more frequently Expand

Beautiful visuals, a fun challenge, great controls and creative and well designed levels makes this game one of, if not the best plataformer of all time. It feels bittersweet writing this as Toys for Bob became a Call of Duty support team but now that I have a metacritic account I want to recognize this game for the masterpiece it is.

Триумфальное возвращение crash bandicoot. Игра стала мультяшней, но хардкорно - жопоразрывающей. Старая школа вернулась. Слава Крэшу, что не ввели в игру донатной помойки, а все скины даются за прохождение.

So in Crash 4 It’s About Time you play as Crash,Coco, Tawna or Dingodile with the main 3 trying to stop Cortex and N Trophy again and with Dingodile he’s getting revenge for the minions that burned down his restaurant. The game looks stunning the game runs at a great 60fps with a little bit of frame drops every once and a while. The colors look outstanding even in the new Inverted levels where say you have already beaten a stage you can go back into them with a new gimmick like spinning to get color back, it’s all topped off with amazing music and great level design that takes full advantage of everyone’s move sets. Crash feels amazing to control either with the analog stick or the d pad but it’s kind of **** when you slip off a edge and you lose your chance to grab the new flashback tapes where it’s a serious test of patience you have to hop on boxes and make sure not to die some of them are unforgiving. Tawna is a new playable character and she controls alright she has a grappling hook that can get boxes from a far but it would be better if there was a lock on feature. You can also control Dingodile how can hover in the air for a few seconds and can suck up boxes and spit them back out, it’s like the Poltergust 3000 from Luigi’s Mansion but again does not have a aim reticule. You can also play as Cortex who uses his gun for a short hover and turns enemies into platforms. The new feature are the new Quantum Masks, they are some good fun Lani-Loli slows you to shift through dimensions and get new platforms, Akano allows your spin attack to hover in the air while your jumping, Kupuna-Wa allows for you to stop slow down time for precise platforming, and Ika Ika allows for you to flip gravity. So the masks are really fun to use. But my favorite part is how they used the Wumpa Fruit and Gems, they got rid of lives in this game so you can die as many times as you want but they have added 6 Gems to each level including the Inverted levels 12 gems per stage. Wumpa Fruit can easily nab you 3 gems by filling the meter, there is obviously one by getting every box in the stage and there is a secret one in each stage as well but for the biggest pain you can’t die more than 3 times in a single stage. That turns this game into a completion nightmare. Overall this is the best Crash game we’ve gotten it’s so much fun and I highly recommend oh pick this up right now. Ranking Masterpiece. Expand

It's not bad by any means, infact it's quite enjoyable, and there are some additional new gameplay mechanics, but it does nothing new, and nothing about it is special.

The Quantum Masks are very creative, each one of them has its own unique ability, and they're very fun to use.

The multiple playable characters are all great, Tawna is by far the best character, she has the best levels, her moveset is very smooth and her tools are well implemented. Dingodile is fun aswell, being able to shoot things and fly feels good.

Most levels are fine, but some of them are just straight up frustrating, mechanics not working correctly, movement being clunky, weird hitboxes and just overall unfair.

The boss fights are... whatever, some of them are lame while others are artificially difficult, what a letdown.

And finally I just want to talk a little bit about the new art style, long story short, it's ugly, the animations are awkward, and most characters look off (there are some exceptions though, personally I think the new Tawna looks fantastic and pretty badass).

This one is a weird case, I like Crash Bandicoot, but the gameplay was cool many years ago, now it's just not on par with other modern platformers, it feels and plays the same after all these years.

Also, no split-screen couch co-op? No actual multiplayer? Really?
    Well, that was disappointing.

    Final Rating: "Decent" ~ 6/10.

Each level is a visual feast, filled with vibrant colors, intricate details, and a charming cartoony aesthetic that stays true to the franchise's roots. From lush jungles to futuristic cities, the environments are varied and engaging, offering a delightful platforming experience. Moreover, the levels are thoughtfully crafted to strike a balance between accessibility for newcomers and a challenge for seasoned Crash Bandicoot veterans.

The gameplay improvements in Crash Bandicoot 4 are evident from the moment you take control of Crash or Coco. The controls feel tighter and more responsive, making the platforming sections smoother and more enjoyable. The introduction of new abilities, such as wall-running and time-bending mechanics, adds depth and creativity to the gameplay. These abilities are integrated seamlessly into the level design, allowing for engaging and dynamic platforming sequences that keep players on their toes.

One of the standout features of Crash Bandicoot 4 is the inclusion of multiple playable characters. In addition to Crash and Coco, players get to take on the roles of Neo Cortex, Dingodile, and Tawna, each with their own unique playstyles. This diversity not only adds gameplay variety but also provides additional depth to the story, as players get to see the events from different perspectives. The ability to switch between characters breathes new life into the gameplay, making the overall experience more enjoyable and replayable.

However, one area where Crash Bandicoot 4 stumbles is the difficulty of collecting relics and gems. While challenging gameplay has always been a hallmark of the series, the demands in this installment seem disproportionately high, especially when compared to the first trilogy. Obtaining relics, which require beating levels within tight time limits, can be particularly frustrating and may deter some players from attempting to achieve 100% completion.

Similarly, collecting gems often proves to be an arduous task. Some levels are designed with precision and patience in mind, requiring players to execute near-perfect runs to secure all the gems. This level of difficulty can be alienating to more casual players, who may find the task daunting and unrewarding. Striking a better balance between challenging and accessible collectibles would have made the game more enjoyable for a wider audience.

Despite the challenging collectibles, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time remains a joyous celebration of the beloved franchise. The great level design, improved gameplay mechanics, and diverse cast of characters contribute to a fresh and entertaining experience that pays homage to the original trilogy. Fans of Crash Bandicoot will find themselves delighted by this nostalgic journey, and newcomers to the series will discover a thrilling platforming adventure that stands strong on its own merits.

Thank God I didn't care about these metacritic reviews by casual players who can't face challenging games, and keep crying like babies when the game doesn't grab by their hands and do everything for them.

Crash from this version doesn't have that fancy look like in older, even when they have less polygons.

And the game is crazy hard from beginning. I've loose more than 30 lives on a second level. That is sucks. Stick to remastered trilogy. Way better and gives more fun. Sorry Activision but im not sorry. Well

Controls and physics just feel off, the double jump is one of the clunkiest I have ever encountered in any video game, and the fact that Crash cannot hold on to ledges never managed to quite sink into my brain because it has been a standard not only for platformers, but video games in general for literally DECADES. The locked camera makes it very hard to correctly appraise distances and positions when you're going into or out of the screen. All of this maybe could've been fine if the level design was a little more forgiving, but every level is just one long series of frustrating traps designed to immediately kill you, many of which require trial-and-error to even get a sense of what's going on. Look towards the king of platformers, Mario, on how to do this better: In every level, a mechanic is first introduced in its most basic form and without severe repercussions, then it is GRADUALLY expanded upon and made more challenging throughout the level. Whereas Crash just says: FU, it's sink or swim right from the get-go. Not fun.

The game certainly looks good, but could've definitely used more clarity in its visual design because sometimes you can't even accurately make out hazards until it is too late.

Music and sound are OK I guess. Story doesn't matter at all, it is fourth-grader s**t and I soon started skipping through all of it. Once again, take a hint from Mario: It's OK not to have a super-deep story in a platformer, but if you don't, then don't interrupt the game with dumb*ss superfluous cutscenes all the time.

Crash Bandicoot 4 is breathtakingly beautiful, features an amazing soundtrack full of references to the original trilogy, offers tons of content, and thrilled me to bits with its brilliant level design. Crash Bandicoot 4 is a worthy addition to the Crash legacy. It captures the spirit, fun, and challenge of the original games, and adds a lot more that genuinely makes the experience even better rather than simply padding out the gameplay. The game is certainly challenging and the levels could probably use a few more checkpoints, but the number in the game is truer to the spirit of the originals than modern gaming standards. A little perseverance will get you through the game, but it’s going to take a little work if you want to be a Crash completionist. Overall it’s a great platform game that perfectly blends the old and the new into a fun new experience.
