VR game-play review (PS4 Pro) : right now, it's the most blurred VR game you'll play on PlayStation VR. It's like an elderly simulation; after 10 seconds, you will be like an old man searching for his glasses because he can't even see clearly the chess board. The Gomorrah environment is a nice idea, and a great reference to Bergman's Seventh Seal, where you can play chess against The DeathVR game-play review (PS4 Pro) : right now, it's the most blurred VR game you'll play on PlayStation VR. A very nice version of chess. Includes challenge missions where you have to win in a few moves and the pieces have been set up for a good puzzle.

As other people have said, it is too blurry to actually play chess in vr. It is probably a fine game otherwise but it's not what I bought it for.

Play only blitz mode. 5 minutes. The other modes are full of cheaters. Btw the game is dead. Basic options, no chat no funny lobbies. Nothing. Dead.

Tournament mod is disaster. Wait to play. No instat play, wait days for opponents.

Terrible game. The game is completely dead and the platinum is a chore to boost.

Ripstone took something great that it already had going with Pure Chess, and further enhanced everything that the game was already doing well. In terms of aesthetics, atmosphere, and play features, Chess Ultra is as good as I can conceive Chess actually getting. Bring on a better range of chess sets through DLC, and preferably a Hatsune Miku set among them, and I don’t think I’d ever actually put this down.

Chess Ultra is one of the best chess games available at the moment, but is let down by the blurriness in the VR portion of the game that puts some strain on the eyes. Aside from this shortcoming, Chess Ultra is basically the complete package for chess fans, and for those who would like to get into chess due to featuring the in depth tutorials and guides that educate about one of the world’s oldest games.

Sure, CHESS ULTRA is chess but it’s some very good looking chess and more importantly, it plays very well on the PlayStation 4 with some great multiplayer and a really fun VR mode… I just hope to god I still have my soul!
