There is certainly a little effort put into the remaster (new models, animations and sounds), but removing the spec ops mode and the multiplayer (the best in the series according to some) is rather unfortunate.

What I ended up playing was a short, bland, boring slog of a campaign which does it's best to smash every possible modern war cliche into it's 4-hour runtime. I couldn't tell you the plot because I would honestly just doze off every time a "cutscene" would play, bored by the tedium of listening to Generic Army Guy #4 talk to Generic Army Guy #8 over a global map. The characters aren't memorable, the locations, with a few exceptions, are forgettable, weapons feel weak and your teammates/enemies blend in with the background so often it becomes a chore to pay attention to what is going on during combat.

I don't know why I allowed myself to expect something from a CoD campaign but I was let down and that's considering I didn't even pay for it (PS+).

Ok so... the big positive is the Graphics are spectacular, there are some have found different compared to the original ones... but the real big negative is the sound Gun firing, some of them are absolutely ridiculous and rubbish sound that doesn't sound like the original, I would love to go 8 but unfortunately the sound gun firing is a huge problem and that's... little disappointed

MW2 Remastered is gorgeous in terms of graphical upgrades and hidden gems, but lacks the originality and edginess that MW2 had when it came out. The graphics are incredible and the new animations are slick and smooth. Some characters in-game models have been changed but that's normal considering this is a remaster and Infinity Ward can't just use the old lower res models for a remaster. The story is the same as 10 years ago (obviously) and is still as incredible and controversial as it was then. This was personally more personal for me because I played MW2's campaign a lot over the last 6 to 7 years and memorized most of the missions and voice lines so to hear them again was very nostalgic. If you loved MW2's campaign and don't mind about no multiplayer you will love this remaster. Expand

The combat is brilliant with big meaty feeling weapons, interesting multi-level maps and a good mixture of run and gun, stealth and tower defence. Also, the drone is bloody good fun to use still after all these years.

The combat is as good as ever, the weapons feel meaty and satisfying and there is a decent amount of variety in weapons to keep things interesting. The graphics are good, as you'd expect from a CoD game.

The graphics look as good as you'd expect for a PS4 game, and all the usual high production values are on show with superb voice acting and smooth animations everything just feels super polished. Although, I played this after finishing the disappointingly janky We Happy Few so maybe it is just by comparison.

I’d been hearing rumors about a remaster of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” for years now, but little did I expect that it would see a surprise release. And little did I expect that the long-awaited remaster would only be roughly half of the game: as the title of this page clearly says, this remaster is, quite literally, just the campaign of the original game for eighth generation platforms. I’ll be honest, though, curiosity got to me with this one: I’m not a huge “Call of Duty” fanatic, but I quite loved the remaster of the first “Modern Warfare” game, and I’ve heard a lot of positive things about “Modern Warfare 2” as well, so I wanted to give the game a shot and see if it was anywhere near the level of the first game. Even if the remaster was just the campaign, that was fine with me, as I’m largely a single-player gamer as it is. After playing it, though, I was left wondering if the hype the game received in 2009 really had anything to do with the campaign.
Don’t get me wrong, in a lot of ways, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” deserves credit: graphically, the game still looks sharp, and the remaster helps give the visuals a strong-enough facelift that I feel like the game hasn’t aged a day. In terms of the gameplay, it’s still so smooth, and much like the visuals, the controls and general gameplay feel as though they haven’t been touched by time. It still feels good to play, and many of the game’s big moments still do hit hard now. I’m pretty sure everyone remembers the controversial “No Russian” level in the game, and as polarizing as it’s sure to remain, playing the mission myself for the first time did leave me legitimately terrified. It’s a very troubling moment in the game that, like it or not, will most certainly leave an impact that’s hard to forget. Even after so many years, the game is still capable of leaving you tense and surprised around several corners.
Unfortunately, there’s a lot to this game I find myself disconnected from. As I mentioned above, this new release is simply a remaster of the original game’s campaign, and thus, the multiplayer and Spec Ops modes are excluded. I’ll say that I’m personally not too hurt about that because I don’t have a nostalgic attachment to the modes, and because, at least from a business perspective, I understand that Activision doesn’t want gamers jumping ship from the newest “Call of Duty” game to this game. That said, I do feel like, while $20 might not seem like too steep of an asking price, to me, when given the quality of this campaign, it’s something to think twice about. After all, it is an extremely short game that, to me, is bogged down by several factors. This includes (but is not limited to) some repetitive level design that wears out its welcome too fast, a completely over-the-top story that just feels like the equivalent of a Michael Bay movie (and one that leaves that controversial “No Russian” mission feeling like nothing more than empty edginess and shock value), and gameplay that, while remaining functional so many years later, feels no different than the “Modern Warfare” game that preceded it. And while the experience got a bit more exciting in the second half, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I had played this exact game when I played the remaster of the first “Modern Warfare.” Thus, with the campaign itself being a bit underwhelming, the exclusion of the multiplayer and Spec Ops modes does devalue the package a bit. I’ve heard rumors that those are supposedly coming to the game at a later date, and I’m sure it would be a more worthwhile purchase with those features, but right now, it feels empty.
All in all, I must say that “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2,” to me, is the gaming equivalent of a fireworks show: it’s pretty to look at for a few minutes, but it lacks in substance and doesn’t leave enough of a lasting impression, and once it’s all over with, you’re left thinking, “man, that was a lot of noise.” It’s certainly not a bad game, but I can’t help but play this and feel like it was the point in the “Call of Duty” series where Activision knew they could coast, and it was around this point that “Call of Duty” started to feel like a lowest common denominator shooter that stands out thanks to its name-brand value, as opposed to it being a truly special shooter. It’s the point where “Call of Duty” cared less about its campaigns, and more about appealing to the most people possible. No, that’s not a bad thing, but this attitude led to the series feeling more standard, and I think “Modern Warfare 2” was the kickoff to that. As I said, it’s decent, but I can’t recommend paying for this remaster unless you have that deep of a nostalgic connection for the campaign. Maybe rose-colored lenses will help you enjoy this more than I did.
Final rating: 6 out of 10 “Decent”

What can I say about MW2; it’s one of the best Call Of Duty Games. That said it’s obvious that the story is really good, just like it was back in 2009, the enhanced graphics and weapons sound are an appreciated plus in this offer. However there some things that could have been done a lot better.
First, the controls. My character was unable to run 9 times out of 10 even if I correctly pressed the L3 as the tutorial said. I’ve played every COD since 2008 so I can say I’m able to play and I’ve never had any problems to run. In this game I’m completely unable to run a lot of times I want to. I’m quite convinced that the run in the game is not working properly and this is really annoying on Veteran. To test this I’ve played the original game and I had no problem.
Second, the hit registration. Maybe it was me but I noticed that a lot of times the games didn’t register the hit on enemies even if I shot them. The problem is not so noticeable if you use an automatic rifle but if you like, like me, to use a semi-auto rifle (I used for the majority of the time the FAL) it becomes really frustrating.
Third, the flinch. The flinch on this game is too high. When you get hit, your weapon travels to the stars. I know that the original game had this, but reducing it a little bit it would have been a good idea IMO.
Then I have to point out some things that I didn’t find annoying because the game belongs to the old CODs and at the time they weren’t problems, but that can make the game less enjoyable for a new player:
    1) The slowness of the character
    2)There’s not the slide
    3) The missions have a linear layout and the are very short

    Conclusion:
MW2 Campaign Remastered brings the great campaign of the original game with an all new graphics and sound making it a wonderful comeback for the Veterans, despite some technical issues that can be annoying. The story itself it amazing but the newcomers might find the game a little old, since some factor are surpassed in the new titles.
Maybe the price is a lot high if bought at full-price but if you find a good discount it can surely be worth the price

A good remaster of a great game.

I never played the original when it released in 2009, so this was my first playthrough of Modern Warfare 2, and it certainly lived up to what I had hoped.

First of all, the remaster is beautiful. It is almost as good as the new Modern Warfare that was only released in 2019 on much newer systems. It is a remaster that has clearly had a lot of time and effort put into it, which is visible from the outset. The gunplay is fast and frantic just like every Call of Duty I have ever played. The detail on the character models is the best on any remaster I have ever played, and I also think the voice acting is stellar, with Jeff Leach being a particular standout for me, but whether that was remastered is unclear. I do, however have a few issues with this game.

My first real issue I encountered, and this is a personal preference, was the ridiculously aggressive AutoAim. Having played many shooters since the Xbox 360 days, this was very jarring to try to get accustomed too. It became much more a ‘snapshooter’ rather then having to actually try to aim, effectively making the right stick redundant.

Another issue I have with this game is that they story, as most Call of Duty’s do, tries to present the American Military as much more in the right then they ever have been. It makes the game seem very tailored to a American audience to try to brainwash impressionable minds into thinking the army is a good thing whilst not showing many of the bad things the Americans do, and even then it is presented as a necessary evil.

Also, this isn’t a fault of the game but a fault on myself for succumb to the publicity around the level. No Russian isn’t as bad of a level as it was made out to be. As much as committing a terrorist act at a Russian airport sounds bad when put like that, at not one point are you forced to partake. I played the entire level without shooting anyone for the entire thing. While it is bad to see civilians being murdered around you, I was informed you had to partake which I am very thankful was not the case. It also is a very necessary level to move the plot along and show that not many can be trusted in the Modern Warfare world. The thing that did plague the playthrough was almost a repetition of this point. A lot of the moments in the game fell flat for me and didn’t elicit the response that was intended, whether that is my fault for not completely playing every game and understanding significance of parts of the game, may be on me, but I enjoyed it overall.

This game isn’t spectacular, which is why I never payed the £20 asking price but for a game that comes free with my PS Plus subscription it is definitely worth checking out for PS Plus members.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A throwback of an amazing campaign but the one problem. No special ops or multiplayer. The game is £20 for the campaign alone. I would have paid the extra to have multiplayer and special ops at least. Still having the original modern warfare 2 game on Xbox 360 then having the remastered edition on the Xbox one x in 4k the difference is well insanity. But proceed with caution the NO Russian mission where you play as undercover CIA operative is even more messed up than before. With being able to see every fibre on the suit it makes the mission worse in my eyes. It’s exactly the same as the original campaign you remember on the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3 just without the let down with no multiplayer and no special ops missions. I would like to hope activision we will rethink this and bring out a proper remastered MODERN WARFARE 2 like they did call of duty 4 over in 2016 for the 10 year anniversary. I’d like to think 11 years after modern warfare 2 was originally released the could at least give us a multiplayer. But all in all it was an amazing campaign i just think in future they should also bring out the multiplayer map packs and the specials ops they we all came to love during the modern warfare trilogy. I played MW2 straight after Far Cry 3 and MW2 was much better. It had better action setpeices and it had shooting mechanics that are the best in the genre. It was really addictive!

Its still good old MW2 from 2009, with new good-looking graphics, good optimisation, new animations and sounds. In some ways, this remaster worse, than MW1 remaster. They decided to not include multiplayer and spec-ops in remaster... idk why, but ok, let it be.
    Now gonna make conclusion:
    - Fresh and good-looking game from 2009. - New interesting happening in the script in the game - New

The campaign for MW2 Remaster is a joy to revisit. Smooth gameplay with updated graphics and the same twists and turns that we all know and loved from the original 2009's release. Other than Spec Ops missions missing and the lack of the superior multiplayer experience. This is a great entry in the series for any fans of the COD series new or old.

For this game i give it a 7/10. Im one of the people who are into COD campaigns and trophy hunting, which seem to be the only reason you would get this game, as it is missing the fun factor - the MP and spec op missions. Being this is a remaster of the campaign only as stated in the title and price of the game, i will say its nostalgic, but if you recently played the original before the RMFor this game i give it a 7/10. It does a great job at getting the blood flowing. It is a great remaster of the original. What makes this better than Modern Warfare Remastered is the fact that is was not sold only in a bundle when it came out. I personally appreciate that fact.

Even though there is a LOT and I mean a LOT of hate for Call of Duty, but there are some fantastic games in this franchise, and 2009’s Modern Warfare 2 is most definitely one of them.
An amazing and intriguing story, a great multiplayer (only available on PS3 and Xbox 360), and of course, being a FPS, it’s easy to see the POV play out very well.

Aussi, c'est dommage que les dévs n'ont pas remasterisés le multi et les opérations spéciales.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is an attempt to earn fast money in a problematic period for the industry, when most of the planet's inhabitants are hiding in their homes and apartments. You can finish the story campaign in just five hours, and there is no multiplayer. In addition, in Russia and Ukraine, the developers managed to spoil the story due to the removal of a mission critical to the plot, which, along with the average graphics and other problems of the project, is disappointing. The original MW2 deserves the same respect as the first Modern Warfare game.

MW2 Campaign Remastered is everything you can expect from a remaster of one of the best CoD campaigns and FPS campaigns in general. It looks better, it feels better, even with its occasional audio issues. Still, it is a bit short, and unless you are a true fan or just nostalgic about those days you played it, it is hard to recommend to anyone else, due to its lack of multiplayer and lack of longevity.
