I m rating Black Ops 3 solely for its solo player campaign so please be aware of that when you consider buying it. I m rating Black Ops 3 solely for its solo player campaign so please be aware of that when you consider buying it. As of today the mutiplayer seems pretty dead, so if you want to get it only consider it for the campaign or possible coop action with Zombies Chronicles. I played this game on my PS4 Pro SSD and would rate the solo campaign 8/10.

The engine runs smooth although I realized smaller frame drops during certain cutscenes. The gameplay itself is very smooth and fluent. No hiccups, no frame drops, no bugs, no bluescreens encountered. The weapon system is very nice. The grade on customization is really cool and the weapons have a really nice feedback. The way you want to play the game, grab the weapon of choice, customize it and go. A minor downrate goes to the unlock system. I know that encourage more gameplay but for the campaign itself it should be possible to unlock all the weapons and be able to use it. That wasnt possible for me which is a bit sad in my opinion.

Graphics and sound are supreme I have to say. The visual presentation is really good, effects are overwhelming at times and the sound feels right. The sound could be improved a bit I feel. Other games made full use of my atmos system thus bringing immersion even further. Still BO3 does most things right. The levels from time to time giving a nice slice of everything to the player. The developers were creating as usual in finding cool gameplay and interesting stages.

The story is nothing special although I liked the combination of it without spoiling to much. It felt sci-fi-ish with a rogue like AI and military consiprancy somewhat mixed up a little bit too much. I have to say that at a certain point the story lost me a bit. Character customization is nice, although there are not too many options. You unlock around 10 outfits just by regular gameplay which is very cool to me.

After all I enjoyed the short but intense trip. I dont care much about multiplayer of CoD games but I still love to play its campaigns when the games are on sale after a while. The price tag of at least 20 bucks is still not cheap considering I didnt play multiplayer. The Zombie Chronicles pays a bit back but it probably all depends on what you like. For me this brings the game to a 8/10.

Best multiplayer since mw2 even tho it’s not exactly boots on the ground the maps streaks specialist and weapons are all great and fun to use. There is a supply drop system unfortunately however most of the best weapons are in the base game and available to everyone

What's worse, the game thinks it's being profound/grandiose with its nauseating "art" sequences and constant melodramatic voiceover.

On the other hand, BO3 gets credit for its split-screen option in the campaign, and the amount of content available.

BO3 is pretty sweet and it's not cause their are double jumps that this game is bad it just makes the game more fast pace and gives you more offensive or defensive tactics. It has nice maps and a nice gun range the campaign actually has a good plot with an intriguing evil. It has a wide range of guns the zombies is really nice offering different mechanics from casual zombies. Treyarch still got it going with the futuristic approach with Black Ops 3, and yet it is pretty good. The campaign is honestly pretty forgettable, but the multiplayer and zombies mode and the new bonus modes on the other hand, stands out to be strengths in this all-in-one COD entry.

Got this on my ps plus free game and had it in the library for ages.... finally got around to playing and was simply blown away by the quality of the SP campaigns production value. To produce visuals at this level and mostly locked 60fps (30 fps in majority in realtime engine cutscenes) is nothing short of a technical marvel.... I was often reminded me of perfect dark N64 in a good way as even though it nearly always led to the same core COD gameplay flow, the 'sci-fi' visuals in BLOPS 3 are at times simply stunning. Overall this impressed me far more than I could've anticipated and so I would recommend playing this SP campaign to any shooter fan. MP? Not tried so couldnt say.... This review is purely based on the SP campaign. Now imagine yourself in a frozen forest...

Now I should point out that I kind of loved this game during its first year of existence. Yeah it definitely wasn't a masterpiece by any means (Trust me parts of it were downright terrible), but it was still a very enjoyable and casual experience for the most part. However once 2018 came that's when things started going downhill. Not only did the gameplay get more repetitive and boring with the overabundance of pointless DLC and even a little annoying with hackers coming into play, but it also didn't help its case with the arrival and rise of its predecessor Black Ops 4. That (And the fact that there was too many gigabits due to all of the DLC that hindered my ability to download other games) was the last straw for me to finally delete it for good. Expand

In the history mode section, they reduced the quality of past deliveries, with a mediocre and unconvincing bow, which for the mythology of the games is out of place.

In the multiplayer section, they did quite well, following the patterns of map creation to which we were accustomed. The Zombies mode does not disappoint either, since it expands the mythology of the saga, answering questions that had been left in past instalments and opening a new series of these for the next instalment. In the graphics section there are no complaints because in itself it is nothing new, but neither disappoints. The gameplay is pretty good, because unlike Advanced Warfare, the Jetpack does not feel out of place, because it does not interrupt the versatility of the game, this added to the weapons and the constant patches that were received throughout the life of the game, as well as the additions that were made in that time. Well the DLC was not bad either, delivering more multiplayer maps, zombies and new objects from time to time. In conclusion, this is one of the best CoDs, competing only with MW2 and its predecessor BO2.

This game is a blast. The campaign is wacky and fun, offering things that I never thought I'd see in a CoD game such as robot battles, touring through human psyches, metaphysical gunfights on beautiful cyber-plane of existences, and a story that actually hooked me. I played each mission a good 4-5 times and as I mastered the level design, I never felt tired of any of them. I can't tell you how many hours (yes I can, it was 84) I spent in the game and although the grinding for camos was a chore, I'd still like to go back and play more of it.
The zombies was okay, I played it just enough to get the trophies and stopped then and there. I much prefer the WWII zombies mode, and that's saying something as it was fairly uninspired.
The multiplayer was quite a bit of fun. I sucked at it until about rank 13, then I was decent until 40, pretty good until 50, and then amazing until 55. That's usually how CoD games go for me as I unlock better weapons, abilities, and get a better understanding of the intricacies of the maps. However, I can't see myself playing any more of it. WWII was the first and (most likely) last CoD game that I go for master prestige, and this is far from being one of the frontrunners to Master Prestige next.
For objective players of this game, I think immense enjoyment can be found. For CoD players, I can see the unease but the blatant hate or refusal to play is hilariously close-minded and immature, and I say this out of love for this particular game.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game as a whole. This is definitely the most content heavy Cod (if only they updated free-run). The gameplay in the campaign is fun, though to be honest the story doesn't make a bit of sense. Multiplayer is filled with customization, as well as Zombies. It even made Treyarch my new favorite dev for COD. I even went and bought BO1 and 2.

In my opinion, the game is really great and super super funny to play with friends in zombie, multiplayer and co-op campaing, the game give us a new experience and another perspective about the zombies story. Showing really good graphics in PC and the new generation.
The real problem is the campaing even been co-op, it doesn’t have a relation with black ops 1 or 2, making the player fells lost in the game history.
The multiplayer is nice and very equilibrated ( thx Vonderhaar) it has nice wepons and mechanics making a good experience to play with friend all day and all night.

Black Ops 3 has a ton of new ideas and is better than its predecessor AW with its pretty graphics, smooth fun gameplay and a range of maps that are for the most part good. However its campaign is weak, league play is disappointing and the game overall just feels like a downgrade of Black Ops 2 and feels like a downgraded Titanfall.

We all play call of duty games for different reasons, and all of those reasons are present in black ops 3, theres zombies mode for the gamer girls and teenage boys with 14 different maps to get your wave mode on, theres multiplayer with its jetpacks and sliding and wall climbing with all of the classic modes, pretty decent maps, but theres a destiny like addition with these moves you can pull of tht recharge as you play through the match, and there are multiple different moves for you to choose from to change strategies fo different match types.. I don’t really have much to say about the multiplayer because its not really what I play for, its fun, its addictive. But im here for the campaign which is where this special move is pulled from…
And I was pleasantly surprised with what we get here with black ops 3..
This isn’t my favorite campaign in the series, but I feel this campaign is by far the coolest.. it doesn’t even feel like a call of duty campaign, this could’ve easily been a standalone ip as it tells the story of man vs machine, and this campaign is a hefty 10 hours long give or take depending on the difficulty, I played half of the campaign on easy and half of it on hard..
And this campaign does so many cool things..
at the beginning of the store a robot just rips you apart so you spend the rest of the game as an augmented human, but of course the agments and the dni is being messed with, controlling the minds of your comrads, you spend the game trying to get to the bottom of this…
With these augments youre able to do crazy things, each mission you cn choose if you want moves for control, chaos, or combat.. I played mostly with chaos as I felt there was an equal balance of attacks I could use against humans as well as robots, also It allows you to unleash these fireflied that eat the humans in your wy and you get to sing the fireflies song while they do that..
but there are multiple ways you can playthrough this campaign thanks to these controls, such as hackig everything and taking control watch dogs style if youd like…
the first half of the campaign I felt to be pretty soulless though..
I felt like I was really just going through the motions.. but as the story goes on things just get weirder and weirder an I would have to stop myself to remind myself that this is indeed a call of duty game..
and a war vs robots.. they play with illusions and memories here, its nice to see that the team was let of the leash and allowed to be free, and they crated something truly unique..
Though this campaign does suffer pacing problems and annoyances if you are playing on higher difficulties..
Checkpoints can be infuriating at times and theres this giant wall of garbage in the final chapter that I just couldn’t take anymore on hard because of its infinite spawning drones and robots.. this mission felt completely unbalanced for the difficulty, its jus just not fun or fair to have infinite drones that can kill you in 1 or 2 his while youre trying to weaken a larger enemy yards away to get in one rocket shot at a time with no progress being saved while you do this.. on top of that friendly fire is on and your team mates will run in front of you instantly failing the mission..
I just didn’t have the patience AFTER CHIPPING away at this mission for what was at least an hour…
though this was the only section of the game that I found to be unfair and unbalanced..
I didn’t necessarily have fun with this campaign, but I ultimately appreciate it for trying new things
showing players that call of duty is its buttery smooth shooting more than its military focus don’t get me wrong, this is still a military based campaign.. but its so far in the background that you hardly notice, I wouldn’t mind if call of duty contined to let one of its teams play around with its campaigns like it did here and actually step away from military a but, I dubt that would happen, but with this game I see the possibility..
I give Call of Duty Black Ops 3
    a 7.5/10

Why I play Call of Duty is beyond me, why I even think the story won't include some terrorist organisation trying to blow up something is even further beyond, but as this was an added extra in PS Plus there must be something good right, sort of.

Now unlike other Call of Duty games I've played prior, namely Advanced Warfare and Infinite Warfare this game was in peaked position, but to call it my favorite is pushing way too far, more like 19th, 20th best shooter. This game was good in the aspect that I could actually just fight with a gun and not use my advanced infinite thingy backpack, seen in recent games, but there was a bit more.

The story was actually alright though vastly confusing places, this however became to pushing point for me as it allowed this scarce mystery amongst all other things to be well founded and ultimately ended with an understanding, although pushing a cliffhanger vibe.

The combat was norm, as you would expect, the range of guns and modifications allowed for versatile play, and on the whole played well allowing for fast paced action or slow methodical sniper shooting.

Now I don't normally play online FPS bu this time I played some multiplayer, and It was fun, no complication or unfair perks and the idea of choosing a character that suited you was a ace addition as it allowed for variation in the battles which I highly enjoy.

Overall I was quite happy with game, however it seems to be an altered version of the previous games, you know good guy bad guy, just a new re-skin and a few teaks here and there. So whilst this game was solid it felt more like a copy than anything that would hold stature as a sole title.

I know there are still plenty of people that enjoy the COD series but I’m simply not interested in playing that same game over and over again every year.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is a massive disappointment. The gameplay is fine and the multiplayer is okay too but it's nothing new. I personally hate the zombies mode on this game. The story is really dumb and generic. The graphics look fine but the game is an overall letdown.

Although it is one of the more colourful games of the Call of Duty franchise, and takes some positives from Black Ops 2, it ultimately has the worst campaign and a mediocre multiplayer. However, it is its zombies made that saves this game. The introduction of some of the best ever maps, as well as the inclusion of many classics, ensure that Black Ops 3 has the best zombies instalment to date.

The game is not what Cod is about. The campaign is mediocre at best, and that's being generous. They refuse to listen to us and continue the futuristic B.S. that we do not want, the multiplayer NEVER changes, just the classic get-shot-in-the-back multiplayer recycled every year.

Absolutely amazing game. (Note: as implied, I have played on the PS4, and only on it) The Campaign is a complex and detailed story, with much to tell for those that are willing to take the time to process and think about the implications of the character's actions and the minute little details that when pieced together create quite an amazing story. The Multiplayer is an amazing and diverse landscape of what feels like somewhat endless customisation, with a very wide variety of Specialists, with Ranged, Specialised, Launched, and Melee weapons. The movement system is quite flowing and well brought out once you get the hang of it and really know the map's physical landscape. However, there are quite a lot of people that have played weeks worth of in-game multiplayer like myself that continue to play because of how seemingly unending it is, so you will encounter quite a few try-hards. If you want to start playing, it's probably best to do it when there's a sale on of sorts (digital, as store sales are often regional) where quite a few newer players like yourself will be playing. The matchmaking is a bit dull now that the player-base has dropped off dramatically, so I (PM 954) do quite often get placed with quite low level players, on PS4 at least, I do not know how other platforms fare population wise. Additionally, the multiplayer system does include an in-game currency system that allows you to unlock new weapons and a variety of cosmetics, and this system does include Micro-transactions, so just be aware of that, as they may be a bit too tempting, and boi are they expensive. The Zombies portion of the game is absolutely great, and parallels well to the style from WaW, BO1, and BO2, as it follows The Four on their continued adventure through mind boggling realities and worlds. The Zombies gameplay does however feel off at times, as it is set in the early to mid 1900s, and much of the normal weaponry is from the multiplayer/campaign section. The weapons function any would in all 3 modes, they simply look, sounds, and feel quite modern, which doesn't always suit the Zombies play-style, considering that those types of qualities are generally reserved for the renownfully copious Wonderweapons. There is also a Nightmares campaign, which you unlock after you complete the campaign, and is very, very, very interesting. There are also the Freerun and a Dead Ops Arcade portions, which though minute in comparison to the other 3, are still quite good. All in all, Black Ops Three has been an amazing game for me, though I am however very biased, as I've accumulated many many weeks of in game time across all of the game, and because of this, I have somewhat forgotten the learning curves and so I do not know how severe they are, additional to being quite experienced and mostly unhindered by any "flaws" there might be. 100/100 Expand

For those that want the next generation CoD with some new mechanics, this is for you. If you are inexorably attracted to the craziness that is Zombie mode, you won't be disappointed.

"So what is with the lower score then?" I hear you ask. This is completely subjective so take it for what it is, but if you can identify with some of my sentiment, then you will likely feel similar toward this game. Black OPs, and more specifically, the CoD franchise as a whole has really burned me out. I have been playing since the first MW and have just become really burned out by the constant effort to churn out games every year.

Innovation and integrating their tried and true FPS twitch gameplay with something that brings fresh air to the franchise is ideally what CoD needs. After CoD Ghosts it became pretty clear what to come to expect from this franchise for the forseeable future and I am not buying anymore. The only reason I played this was because it was a Christmas gift. I played the campaign and beat it, but couldn't tell you what it was about. I played zombies a little bit with my brothers, but grew tired of it rather quickly (I have never enjoyed the zombie mode except for the very first one in World at War. Those were simpler times). Multiplayer was largely the same and it didn't take long before i had experienced all the game had to offer and sold it.

I have fond memories of the franchise and would like nothing else than to buy a CoD game and enjoy it. However, I think the franchise needs to do some soul searching and take risks to reinvigorate the player base and shake off the CoD stereotype. Until that time, I will not pay money for another CoD game.

I love zombies in COD (even if I admit that it can be the same old song and dance) but the one zombie map deal is too much insult to consumer integrity. Plus, the map isn't even that good (as a long time zombie player for 6 years) and sits at a mediocre rating for me. A shame indeed because the DLC zombie maps are fantastic to play. As a game without its DLC, it is easily a subpar COD game that argues that the COD formula is losing track and ready to derail at any moment. At its best (with all DLC) it barely sits at a mixed mediocre score that makes it even more sad. I want to love the COD series alot, but the series needs innovation and better time spent with its content to make the franchise good again. Expand

This game can be fun at times and improvements have been made bun I just found bo3 to fall flat in certain ways. Campaign was just bad. That's all I can say about campaign. Multiplayer as always with treyarch was fun and zombies is a slight improvement,

I am a fan of CoD: BO 1&2, that being said, 3 left a bad taste in my mouth. The realism of combat which the first two excelled at was totally lost with 3. Running across walls? Booster jet packs? I can't even.

So this is the first COD game I've played since Black Ops 2. I didn't really think much of COD in general, since they are now the most generic of generic FPS games, but my friend brought this one over to play on my PS4 so here we are.

So this is the first COD game I've played since Black Ops 2. I didn't really think much of COD in general, since they are now the most generic of generic FPS games, but my friend brought this one over to play on my PS4 so here we are.

DISCLAIMER: Multiplayer is not a factor in this review due to my long standing bias against competitive multiplayer. That's right. I'm one of the three people who plays COD exclusively for the single player!

So first thing I noticed about the new gen COD is that the shooting controls are so much tighter and they feel so much better. It's not even the controller, either. I play the first Black Ops with a PS4 controller because the PS3 controller is garbage for shooters and Black Ops 3 just plain feels better. I'm not a super expert on shooters or anything, but the controls just feel better and easier to handle. I've never been good with snipers in COD, but in Black Ops 3 for some reason I'm just able to swing the scope in and hit dead on center-mass quickly and easily.

Which is a good segue to the guns. The guns are all future tech stuff with sharp edges and all that stuff that looks space-age and everything. Though I laughed when I saw the future AK pattern rifle because I imagine that something like that will actually exist within the next 20 years since that thing is never going away. The guns look pretty nice, but more importantly, they FEEL nice. Shooting the guns just feels so much better than anything in the previous games. The sounds they make, the animations when firing, even the reload animations look really cool. I actually like all the guns in this game, and each feels VERY different from the others, instead of every single one of them just being a point at bad guy and shoot affair with no real defining characteristics, save for mode of fire.

The new cybernetic stuff is pretty neat, even if it is just blatantly ripping off Titanfall, though Advanced Warfare did it first. I like all the cyber core abilities, letting me manipulate the battlefield and accommodating different playstyles. I could be a manipulator, hacking enemy bots and making them fight for me, or shorting out people's cybernetics and turning their own bodies against them. I could be stealthy, going invisible with a silenced weapon or slamming a shockwave down on a group of enemies. Or I could just blow everything up, making 5 guys puke their guts out at once and setting people on fire. It's fun to have different options in your arsenal instead of just shoot the bad guys in the face.

On to the story. The story on a first run through is schizophrenic as hell and I got lost halfway through. I chalked it up to COD trying to out-COD itself as it tries to do with every iteration, but by the end I was going "this is the most retarded thing I've ever seen, what is even going on?". Then after the story was over I Googled "what the f*** happened in Black Ops 3's story" and read up on what actually went on. After I read up on that and understood the actual story, I realized just how brilliant the story was. This is the least COD COD I have ever played. Treyarch made a fantastic story that is so complex I couldn't explain it if I used all 5000 characters I'm allowed, and it's all really compelling. There's one problem I have with it, though. This game's own license hurt the game more than anything. If I wasn't expecting just more COD boom, bang, kill everything with stupid setpieces, I may have picked up on the subtle hints the game was giving throughout. And oh, boy, are those hints subtle. Only with new knowledge of the story was I able to catch those moments that are weaved all throughout the story. I would go "OHHHHH, THAT'S WHAT THAT'S ABOUT!" to a weird moment that made absolutely no sense before. But the COD name hurts the story. If this had an entirely different license to it, like a new IP, and it made it's story on that, uncoupled from the gigantic Michael Bay spectacle the COD series basically is now, and if they tweaked the narrative a bit so it seemed more like "oh, there's something deeper going on here" and less like "this is a complete clustermolest, I'm so lost", then this story could've been so amazing. I really like the story in this game, it's a brilliant narrative that blew my mind when I figured it out. But like I said, the COD name added with the fact that it's basically impossible to not get lost bring it down.

I do like this game, though. It's not a bad game. Certainly not the ones and zeroes everyone and their dog seems to be giving it. It doesn't stop the series from stagnating and doesn't put the brakes on its slow descent into obsolescence, but for what it is, it's not bad. I just wish it wasn't a COD game. That being said, Treyarch is now on my list of developers to watch, because this story was absolutely brilliant, even if it's flawed.

The Campaign, it's not the best, I honestly think IW has the best campaign in any cod title ever but BO3 isn't bad either. At the start it's fluent and you get what's going on. I didn't start understanding why certain events unfolded the way they did until my 3rd playthrough (for challenges). The campaign is probably the main reason I'm dragging the score from a 10 to 9

Multiplayer, It doesn't matter what gamemode I play, what gun I grind or what challenge I go for I love the multiplayer. I'm a prestige master lvl 150-ish, I have Dark Matter and all dlc weapons except for 5 of them (only bought cod points once and that was for a singular big box bundle, it gave me a few weapons) but despite the game being fun for myself I could see why other's wouldn't like it. e.g. thrust jumping, micro transactions, also if one doesn't have any friends and plays solo the game is less enjoyable but still really fun to play.

Zombies, Treyarch are the masters of this gamemode, All the maps in my honest opinion are amazing. I'm a prestige 10 nearly Master and I have all Easter Eggs done. Wether you like going for high rounds, easter eggs or having fun with friends this gamemode is for you if you even remotely like the zombies genre.

Overall the game is worth getting and grabbing the season pass along with it is just a benefit

First half of the game is nothing spectacular, the other half becomes interesting.
Cons: Campaign overall is a good experience.Story is a bit different from other COD games, but it is something new.
Campaign has some hard parts, which is good.I played it on hardened, and at some points i died for 7,8 times..Finally some challenge from COD campaign.
The game runs really smooth on my ps4,didn't have much problems on framerate.
Locations in the mission are good.

Same with the zombies mode, it is just a blast! As for the campaign, it may not be amazing like BO2 but still decent, with a cool new entity villain. But the thing I really like about BO3 is that itś not just a generic military shooter like other CoD games. The gameplay and concept of BO3 brings something new to the table. Unlike most shooters, it is bright colorful with unique and exotic maps. And BY FAR my favorite thing about BO3 is the specialist characters. Like seriously, the specialist characters are absolute OGs that introduce a fresh clean new gameplay style to CoD. You really have to hand it to Treyarch for successfully finding a way to incorporate MoBA style badass playable characters with awesome abilities into a hardcore fast-paced FPS gameplay style. So don listen to all the bandwagon haters, try this game out like I did and you will be very glad you did! Expand

I vow to never buy another game from treyarch. The online multiplayer is filled with bugs. When you shoot someone, they don't die. When the enemy completely miss the target, their target dies. I am constantly flipping from extreme positive to extreme negative KD. It makes the game incredibly frustrating and impossible to enjoy. I will never buy from Treyarch again.

I mean seriously wtf was that campaign? I was happy to finish it so I didn't have to endure anymore torment, and from start to finish I understood about 10% of what was happening.
Multiplayer is the same it is every year. That is to say terrible. Regularly dropped in to games with about 10 seconds left, not to mention the laggy servers. Gameplay has gotten way too fast paced, not sure why they make it faster every year, probably to make up for the lack of exhilaration and fun. They added in some useless gimmicks this year though, they were fun to unlock but once I realized they were all **** and copied off of Overwatch they just got boring. Maps are pretty bad aswell apart from a few, good to see they're still milking Nuketown, can't wait for BO4 and nuketown 2090. Also whats with all the **** player customizations? Is the aim of the game now to look the most like a candy covered clown?
Seriously they need to skip a few years and just come out with an actual game instead of a rehash of the last game every year. Maybe find out what they want to be, a serious fps? Or an arcade shooter? This is neither, its closer to an arcade shooter but done terribly.
I hope people stop buying these so they make a decent game one day.
