Playing Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back was the most amazing experience of my entire life. The tight controls, deep story, memorable characters and gorgeous visuals compliment an game that it will be hard to put down any time soon. It may have also replaced Shrek Super Slam as my favourite game.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Bubsy. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Bubsy’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The most amazing game ever made for sure. If you want character arcs, look no further. The character development of Bubsy rivals any anime and the graphics are better than Jesus. Over all it's worth it alone for the storyline topped with amazing hyper realistic graphics.

    BUBSY: THE WOOLIES STRIKE BACK

Is the best Bubsy game to date.

I got this game, and let me tell you, it works MAGIC on my PS4. Getting that smooth FPS around all those platforms is a little time-consuming if it's been awhile, but it can get me going without much issue.

We live in a world where brilliant and beloved franchises like Bubsy are reduced to mobile phone cash grabs, but a universally hated series like Rayman gets to make a comeback. No one likes Rayman. No one ever liked Rayman. Just like Cory in the House, Rayman is a meme ironically praised by shut-ins who really need to get out more and whose "ironic" reviews make Metacritic an even bigger joke than it already is.

With that said, this game certainly isn the best one I've ever played. In fact, it's way better than any of the previous Bubsy games, and that's saying something, considering those games were great.

The story is iconic: Bubsy's golden fleece gets stolen by the Woolies and Bubsy wants to get it back. Definitely the best story line I've ever seen.

The controls are better than the original Bubsy's were. Bubsy can pick up black t-shirts which provide him with a shield, and any new shirts collected while the black t-shirt is equipped provide him with extra lives. The glide move is okay but the new pounce move is much more useful. You're supposed to use it to kill the Woolies and it works perfectly.

The level design is an example of pure greatness and there are many different areas (woods, desert, an alien planet, clouds, swamp, blizzard, swamp, cheese land, swamp) with extremely origina assets, so everything feels unique. The bosses are awesome - there are 69 unique bosses and you have to find an original way to defeat each one. A boring boss in a 2D platforming game like that boring game Cuphead has an extremely repetitive attack pattern you can easily memorize, but in this game the pattern randomly changes, making a unique and fun fighting experience for each boss.

Overall, the game is extremely good and never gets boring throughout the entirety of the long and fulfilling game. It shows greatness and with amazing level design and great controls. This Bubsy is the best game in history, being even better than the previous Bubsys.

This game is severely overhated. This, The Woolies Strike Back, was a very well executed revival of the gagster bobcat. It takes many elements from the older games and improves upon them greatly.

First one is the verbosity meter. If you don't admire Bubsy for his character, you can just turn off his one-liners, playing the game for gameplay alone (but who wants to do that?). Another

Another positive is the extremely smooth controls. The controls in this game...Surprisingly, they're absolutely great. They're sharp, responsive, and you almost certainly feel like it's your own fault whenever you die. It's that good.

Aside from sharp controls, another positive are all the injokes made in reference to the older games, which just add to some of the hilarity of this entire game's existence.
The artstyle, the soundtrack, and all the above are all also positives for this game, as they're all memorable and a great listen/watch.

My only real gripe with the game is the lack of a longer story mode, as that would have made for a much longer and content filled adventure.

Overall, go into and play this game whilst abandoning any preformed biases you may have against Bubsy as a character. As a platformer, this is a must-play. It's worth a shot.

I was actually glad Bubsy made a triumphant(?) return with this new game, but I feel like this was a missed opportunity.

First, the gameplay is a HUGE step up from previous Bubsy games in the sense that you can actually control Bubsy fairly well. Although, jumping on enemies can feel weird because it has to be 100% accurate. The music is fairly okay. Nothing terrible. Nothing outstanding. I love Bubsy's new pounce move. Gives the player an opportunity to do some air attacks to reach higher platforms. It was also nice that you can change how often Bubsy speaks in-game so all those people who complain about him being annoying have no excuse now!

Now for the bad, and this is a major complaint.. The game is SHORT. Not Yoshi's Island short, but still short. This game consists of only 11 platform levels and 3 bosses. I would have liked maybe 2 more worlds to make it worth the asking price. There is no unlockables or bonus content. It's just that.

If Accolade is reading this I know a sure fire way of truly making Bubsy a respectable gaming icon rather than a joke.

First: Include more levels next time. 30 levels can be just enough. And maybe some secret extra tough levels for completionists.
Second: Change the art style. These 3D models in 2D gameplay don't look appealing. (Metroid 2, NSMB, etc). Maybe make it hand drawn like Rayman Origins?
Third: For the love of GOD give the enemies more variety and personality. Donkey Kong has the Kremlings and Mario has the Koopas. All with different variations and personalities. Stop using the same Wooly model for everything. They're an alien species, right? Maybe make an alien blob form or something? ANYTHING.
Fourth: Make the stages more unique. Most of the time I felt I was marathoning the same level because of how generic the stages are and can't recall a single unique level. I did like the lava rising in one of the final levels.

I hope Accolade puts more effort next time because gamers will now be very wary. Please please PLEASE improve the formula! Don't settle for "good enough". This is definitely a step in the right direction.

Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back is a mess. Bad controls, uninspired enemy and level design, and a total lack of motivation to keep playing. I want to find something nice to say about it, but even the three boss fights are tedious, confusing slogs. The game ends with a promise that Bubsy will return in another installment, but it feels more like a threat.
