THis was on my to play list for a while. A decent combination of platforming and a bit of leveling and of course a challenge. The void challenges are fair and sometimes hard. The camera can be your biggest enemy sometimes. The fighting is well not great but not terrible. The bosses are easy and you can walk out on most of the mobs. Have 10 hours in and im at 55%. Not the best game out there but not the worst. I have been playing on ps5 and did not encounter a single bug (took months to release on sony) so i think this game is fixed. Expand

Blue Fire does not punish players for exploring their environment and that is further reinforced with the addition of side quests you can pick up along the way. Despite the difficult platforming the game does not feel overwhelming to complete, and there is always a benefit to revisiting old areas. There is always a missed breakable object or an emoting statue that was forgotten; one should not underestimate the power of emoting.

Blue Fire had all the potential to become a top-notch Zelda clone for PlayStation's audience, but misses the mark significantly with dated level design, unwieldy controls and an unforgiving checkpoint system.

Blue Fire walks a fine line between fair challenge and downright frustrating. Tight controls and a wide variety of tricks at your disposal mean you are never short of something new to try, but its punishing gameplay and frustrating checkpoint system drag the game down. If you like a decent 3D platformer and are willing to be frustrated as often as rewarded, Blue Fire is worth checking out.
