Yes, it's difficult, very difficult, but the the thrill of playing the game invites you to restart again and again, and yes, I am getting better. The initial learning curve of understanding the combat can be a bit daunting, but then all of a sudden everything kind of clicks and you find yourself able to progress further and further into the game. It still may not be a game for everyone, but if you're even slightly curious you owe it to yourself to give it a try. Knocked it down from a 10 to a 9 due to the long load times. Otherwise Bloodborne is a true masterpiece! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. An exceptional game. A masterpiece. A genre king. A must-play argument to own a PlayStation 4. Bloodborne is all that, and more.

I was 2 hours into Bloodborne when the sense of adventure lead me into the Yharnam canals through a one-way. I was lost, not knowing the way back to the next lantern; of course there's always a fast way to enter the hunter's dream: By dying. But since dying means losing your precious Bloodechoes (which are basically gold and exp in one package) I was determined to cling to life as long as possible. Another 2 hours later, covered in blood and almost out of the canals I had increased my Bloodecho count to almost 4000 when I suddenly discovered bodies hanging from the canal ceilings, glowing with loot. The moment I chopped the second body I fell as well; surviving the ledge only just, my hands full of sweat I suddenly saw a pack of giant rats turning around and running towards me. Instinctively I backed off while healing myself, throwing Molotovs and transforming my axe into a halberd, wide swinging at the hungry beasts. I had developed some skills over the past 4 hours and they proved to be enough to also survive this encounter. Once the dust had settled, I began to collect the loot when I suddenly found my first new weapon. This moment alone contained a sensation of satisfaction most other entire games don't come close to. And I hadn't even seen the first boss yet.

Of course those moments of success are nothing new to people who are used to From Software's Souls games. What sets Bloodborne apart is the shift in gameplay mechanics that rewards offensive play and eliminates magic; it's a little bit like comparing the momentum of Gears of War to the momentum of Vanquish, with Bloodborne being a much more tense and emotional experience. There are no viable shield options in Bloodborne and your firearm is mainly for setting up ripostes or luring enemies away from their groups. In the middle of the fight however, it's all down to the question how good your evasion skills are and how much you know about your weapon's reach and speed. It's about how competent you are with following the rhythm of the battle and distinguishing the avoid notes, always looking for the target harmony of victory.

Reading your enemies' movements and predicting their attacks is the key to survival in Bloodborne, or at least to survive a little bit longer. Make no mistake: this is still very much a Souls-like game which means you'll die. A lot. It will be infuriating at times but Bloodborne is crafted so virtuoso that it's almost never the game that's to blame.

To mitigate some of the possible frustration, you should play Bloodborne online whenever possible. Sure, inviting friends to help with bosses will make the game easier; but what's more important are the hints and messages that every player can leave in the world. Those will often tell you about an enemy ambush that lies ahead, give you advice what the weakness of the following enemy is or tell you about a hidden item that you might miss otherwise.

Soon you will start to leave messages as well, probably to participate in the community and help other players. But you will also get help in return; messages can be rated good or bad and a good rating from another player will actually heal you. It might not sound like much but if you're in close quarter combat with Pater Gascoigne and a quick note pops up how another player found one of your messages helpful and thus healing you in the middle of a boss fight, you'll experience the most badass form of Karma in your gamer's life.

Ultimately, Bloodborne is more than just a mere test of skill, it's a test of character. It's not a game for people who like to blame the world for their mistakes or expecting their environment to compromise for their comfort. It rewards patience, curiosity, deductive reasoning and adaptability. It doesn't make you a worse person if you allow the game to break you, but bathing in its waves of bitter drubbing and sweet triumph may actually make a better person out of you.

This game is an epiphany, stylistically confident not only in its game mechanics but also with its Victorian environments and Lovecraftian creatures. It wants you to get lost in its game world, showing you the story instead of telling it. It doesn't restrain you and all it asks in return is that you don't expect it to be restrained. It deserves the critical acclaim and praise it's getting but more importantly it deserves your attention. Every bit of it.

I have watched a lot of YouTube videos where it seems like it runs smoother, so maybe there is something going on on my end, but it's not a custom pc where hardware varies, it's a console, so I doubt it. Another issue a lot of people complain about is the loading times, and though they are long I really don't mind it too much, just more incentive to take it slow and not get killed. I want to give this game a 10 but the frame rate drop in environments where there are many enemies and smoke effects makes this game a 9 for me. Expand

This is, without a doubt, one of the best games I've played in a long time. The game play is amazing, only rivaled by games such as inFamous. The unforgiving nature of the enemies makes for a challenging, offensive, and strategic combat system.
It takes quite a while to get past the first boss (or even the first alley :P), but once you do, you are in absolute bliss. The risk VS. reward

It takes quite a while to get past the first boss (or even the first alley :P), but once you do, you are in absolute bliss. The risk VS. reward system is stellar, offering mechanics such as a temporary opportunity to regain health by striking an enemy.
Every new weapon that is unlocked changes the way the game is played, and the "Blood Echoes" currency system pushes this game one step further.
I love this game, and I strongly believe that anyone with a PS4 and $60 should have the opportunity to play this masterpiece.

I feel like most of these negative reviews are coming from folks who don't like the souls series or do not own a PS4. This game is in no way shape or form a 0.

I feel like most of these negative reviews are coming from folks who don't like the souls series or do not own a PS4. This game is in no way shape or form a 0.

This game is for people who enjoy challenges. This is not a title you can pick up and roll through with your eyes closed. You will sweat, you will cuss, and you will hate this game until you finally beat the part you've been stuck on for hours. When you finally do there is not another game that can match the sense of accomplishment and joy of getting over that hurtle.

The graphics are great. They are not shiny and polished, which for some reason are the only style a lot of people consider "good". It's murky, gothic, and extremely detailed. The sounds and visuals keep you guessing to what may be around the corner. The graphics do a great job of creating a unique atmosphere which this world resides.

As far as story goes, Fromsoft does things differently than other developers. You are given a small taste of what is going on in the short intro, then it is up to you to search around and discover everything else. If you mash through it only to try and get to the end expecting it all to be explained then, you will be disappointed. This game may only be 40 hours long if you rush it, however if you search around every nook and cranny to discover what is really going on, along with some great hidden treasure and bosses, only then will you have truly completed this game.

The barrier of entry is high as it always has been with this series. You are given a brief over view of controls and that's it. Nothing else is handed to you. You must discover everything on your own. While it's easy to look online to have other people tell you what to do, that method ruins what the game is about. While choosing this method will make the game much easier it also drains a lot of what makes his game fun.... Mystery.

Co-op is not made easy either. You have a limited item that allows you to call for help. There is a reason for this. This game is balanced around you vs the world. When you get stuck it allows for you to get help and it makes beating a boss SO much easier. This is why when that boss is beaten your co-op partner is returned to their own world. When I say limited, you can easily call on a friend to help you with every single boss if you wanted to, but the items you get to do this are very rare early on.

This game has a few flaws, but for being the day after release this game is light years beyond how games are normally released ( barely functional, riddled with bugs, takes 3-4 patches to get the games running smoothly ). I've experienced a handful of frame rate drops that were never in high tense moments. I had a aggressive NPC bug out on a ladder. Other than that this game functions exceptionally well.

So if you own a ps4, you enjoy a good challenge, and you don't like your hand being held in games then this is worth your time.

Other than that I have a few bits of advice for new players having difficulty 1) at the start when in Iosefka's clinic, (1st room you spawn in, it is normal to have no weapon)READ EVERYTHING! (grey messenges on the floor are a controls tutorial) This is NOT a game where ignorance of your surroundings will be rewarded in fact, it will be punished 2) Patience is essential. I cannot stress this point enough. You WILL die. I die. We ALL die. 3) Keen observation and analyzation of the enemies, their patterns, weaknesses and your surroundings is a must. 4) Don't be GREEDY! If you have enough blood echoes (currency) to level up, buy items etc. go back to the Hunter's Dream (central hub area, accessed by pressing X at any blue lantern with little guys coming out of the ground under it)and DO IT! 5) Run past enemies, dodge (press R3 to create a lock on enemies, when said lock is visible quick dodges may be performed by pressing O and the direction you need to go in{this takes stamina, green bar under red health bar}) if you have to. Once you start leveling up your character it gets much easier and more enjoyable! 6) READ! When in the menus, for example, by reading the bottom of the screen you will find that you may often be able to press the R3 button{right thumbstick pushed inward}this will create a highlighted cursor that when moved over menu symbols will give a description of their meaning/function. 7) This game has faith in you, it believes you have the intelligence, the will, to survive, to persevere, to overcome trying obstacles without someone telling you where to go and how to get there from start to finish, as do I. Good luck, I hope this helps you out, and, may the good blood guide your way. -Devin Expand

Conclusion: Even with it's flaw of slow loading screen, this game deserves a 10 out 10 and is EASILY, and I say EASILY one of the best game for this generation so far. It has action, adventure, swordplay, shooting mechanics, dungeon crawling genre mixed in, and that old school game flavor of "skill required" to beat (or like demon souls and dark souls to make it easy to understand if you never played Contra and Ninja Gaiden). THIS IS A MUST BUY, and worth getting a PS4 just to play this game. DO NOT SHY AWAY from the difficulty, it will hook you in.

Absolutely incredible, as a huge fan of the Souls series I can safely say that this game has definitely lived up to the hype. The visuals, sounds, music , atmosphere, everything is pretty much perfect. I have played for around 25 hours now and there is no end in sight, each area is full of secrets and little shortcuts to explore.

I was worried that the charm of the series would be lost

I was worried that the charm of the series would be lost when the director said that they were trying to open the game up to a wider audience but I am happy to say that I'm not sure what he meant by that because the difficulty and the satisfaction of beating a boss after it has wrecked you several times is still there. I find this game to be more of a challenge than Dark Souls 2, especially with the removal of the Estus Flask mechanic that regenerates at the bonfires. You now have a finite number of healing items that have to be bought or looted from enemies.

The only downsides I can see are the long loading times, they're often up to 30 seconds long. It's really not bad enough to take a point off my final score but I'm glad to hear that they're working on a patch to reduce them.

Overall if you are a fan of Demon's and Dark Souls then this is simply a must buy, you cannot miss this game.

Although not a Dark Souls game, its design and tone are of a similar vein. Its sprawling gothic environments transport you to the hopeless, plague ridden town of Yarhnam, where as a lone hunter you will navigate its harrowing perils and unforgiving enemies, dangling on a single thread between life and death. The artfully dark character design is much improved from its predecessors on the next gen console, hair in particular seems to have a real life of its own as it billows and moves like ripples of water. The graphics themselves are not game changing however they are effective enough to breathe real life and character into the game, setting just the right tone. The AI is also much improved, movements are smooth and exaggerated giving you a real sense of the supernatural strength behind your enemies attacks. Although the enemies do become predictable to a sense it doesn't make them less dangerous or the game less challenging, their attacks vary often, and a single mistake can cost you dearly.

The game does have a few drawbacks however but not enough in my opinion to write it off completely. Unfortunately Bloodborne has inherited the age old struggle of Dark Souls titles, the dreaded crazed camera syndrome. This is especially frustrating when facing bosses, as if you didn't have enough on your plate, it doesn't however make these encounters impossible, it just throws that extra proverbial wrench into an already challenging situation, I suppose this makes the victory all the more sweeter?

Another disappointment for me was the pretty non-existent story. Now to be fair FromSoftware has never been known for having rich, detailed plots lined with rewarding character arc's so in that sense this is not much of a surprise. Still this seems like a huge wasted opportunity, especially with such an incredible backdrop, you would think even a sliver of a plot, no matter how simplistic would enhance an already incredible game. Sadly this is missing entirely. Perhaps FromSoftware was doing us a favor, "keep it simple stupid" is a moniker most games seem to avoid at their peril these days with plot lines often becoming so convoluted that you need an advanced degree in calculous to figure out what the **** is going on. Bloodborne is no "Last of Us" but its immersive game play and great overall design pickup the slack where the story falters.

The real highlight of this game however is found in its incredibly haunting sound design, everything from footsteps, to the musical score lends itself well to the creepy, hopeless, gothic atmosphere of Yarhnam, creating moments of sheer terror, enhanced by the already adrenaline pumping game mechanics. Bloodborne is easily one of the best titles to be released in the action genre for PS4 thus far and sets the stage for an exciting future full of tantalizing possibilities. Turn off the lights, turn up the volume and enjoy the ride.

Is Bloodborne the best game available on PS4? Absolutely! In fact, as of right now, it's probably the only reason to even think about buying this platform, which is exactly what I did. Was it worth it? Well, let's see.

At first I was blown away, starting impressions in this game are fantastic, beautiful world and creature design, gameplay as solid as ever and really strong terrifying atmosphere only enhances your experience. Bloodborne oozes darkness and horror from it's core and I love it.

The difficulty is back! As a huge Souls fan, this is something I missed in DS2 and I'm glad that Bloodborne kicked my ass so hard and so many times, my death count by the end was around one hundred, so good job, From Soft *clap gesture*. The best aspect about it are scarce checkpoints, it adds tension to your adventure a lot, remembering times when I was going deep into Forbidden Woods, for like 4 hours straight without a single checkpoint, but at the same time, clever level design offers you the way to open shortcuts, so even if you die the journey back wouldn't be so frustrating, perfect balance here and again much much better than in DS2 with bonfires around every corner.

The game looks stunningly impressive and leagues better than any previous souls game, from breathtaking world design, The Prague-inspired gothic architecture, creepy and horrifying monsters and epic boss battles, also clothes design is phenomenal, one better looking outfit than the other. Just listening to the soundtrack and it's a truly majestic piece of music work, very well done.

Now to the negatives, and honestly, there are surprisingly quite a lot of them.

Multiplayer is by far the weakest in the series. It slows down the game a lot, it's often very hard to even get connected and get ready to play a waiting game. Considering I played it during the first week, years from now, this will be an empty ghost town. Forget constant PvP matches and plenty of jolly co-op, here it's a rather rare occurrence. Also, forget all the various covenants with different objectives and mechanics, forget exclusive PvP arenas and all the good stuff that comes with it. After hours and hours of online fun in DS2, Bloodborne is a huge letdown in this area.

Another disappointment comes with only a very few weapons and various builds you can play with. In souls games, playing as a strength warrior, archer, cleric, or a mage felt very different, everyone had unique skills and playstyles and it supported multiple, multiple playthroughs. Here, all builds feel very similar and now, when I'm on my 2nd playthrough I already feel that replayability will suffer a lot because of this. Chalice dungeons, while impressive and surprisingly full of unique material, even unique bosses are trying to improve the replayability factor a bit with their procedurally generated levels, but I still don't think it's a good enough substitute.

And last but not least - the biggest problem of Bloodborne - PS4! Locked 30 FPS is a joke and coming from smooth 60 DS2 PC version, this is very painful. IF, at least the 30 FPS was rock solid and otherwise smooth, I wouldn't mind it as much, but it often goes deep below 30 and especially if you're playing online the game is very sluggish. The loading screens, oh boy, the loading screens! I stopwatched it and every single loading screen takes a massive 40 seconds! Compare this to the 3 secs in DS2 PC version and again, you're in pain. Especially with the warping system set in this game it becomes unbearable. Every time you want to go level up, repair, or buy stuff, let's go for a sweet loading screen to Hunter's dream, another loading screen back to the world, then you die and another loading screen cycle, rinse and repeat. In Souls games, there were at least item descriptions, or artworks that you could read while waiting, but here, prepare yourself to be staring at the blank Bloodborne logo for many many hours before you finish this game. So, next time, if someone gets a great idea to make the game an exclusive, at least make it on a platform, that can actually run your game properly!

It's a shame, because if it weren't for these technical downsides, less variation and a slightly lackluster multiplayer compared to previous Souls entries, Bloodborne would be perfect.

Hoping for a sequel or at least an expansion that would fix the problems, improve these shortcomings and bring Bloodborne even closer to perfection. Bless us with blood, bless us with blood! 9/10

You will die and replay the initial section of the game so many times you'll lose count and your commitment will be tested. You are punished for dying by what feels like a long re-spawn loading time and having to fight your way back through the same enemies you struggled to defeat the last time round. There is no quick save and re-spawn points are few and far between. Rather like Tom Cruise in Edge of Tomorrow you get a little better each iteration until eventually you succeed. Like a plane climbing through bad weather you punch through and into brilliant sunshine. The game remains hard but now you are competent in the mechanics it's a joy to play. You may chose to revisit the early section that caused so much frustration but this time your foe fall with consummate ease. It feels like redemption as you carve your way through the same enemies you previous struggled against now barely taking a scratch. Why do I say it's like round games? Because for the most of time, enemy attacks, you dodge, and fight back, and dodge again, enemy attacks again, you attack again, enemy down. That's it. Doesn't it sounds like round games?

However, I just can't stop playing it, comparing to the achievement of beating a hard boss, frustrating progress isn't that bad.

The Regain system works wonderfully, basically if you take damage from an enemy, and strike them back quickly you have a chance of gaining some of your health back, however it is the definition of high risk high reward as you leave yourself vulnerable to the enemies attacks in the process. The game is beautiful, and there is a lot of content in the game, and you will most likely miss a good chunk of it on your first playthrough, encouraging a NG+ playthrough. The gameplay is great. ( sadly the same issue with Dark souls: The controll and camera is horrible ) and you will be fighting it more then the enemies to begin with. But looking past that. bloodborne will be one of the best games of 2015.
Sorry for bad engilsh and i hope you get my point.

You will find core ideas of gaming here other games don't even seem to know about. Exploration is a keyword. Player freedom. Sense of achievement. Immersion. Tension. Curiosity.

Smart, beautiful, incredibly rich in detail and creativity - These guys take videogames to a new level. The combat is precise, fast, deep, complex, and very satisfying. World-, level- and enemy design is unseen so far.

Once you start playing all your controller features are always available - these devs respect you as a gamer. No QTEs, no fetch missions, no game over for killing an NPC. Stories are plenty and deep in this game - and very mature.

The new weapon transformation system is awesome, the regain mechanic makes the gameplay aggressive and very fast. Got hit by an enemy? Hit it back to get your HP back! This game feels good - and i have to admit that it makes other games feel lifeless and boring.

Exploration is key - levels are all mazes you conquer, opening shortcuts to get fast to a boss if you didn't beat on the first try.

A lot of non PS4 owners try to tell you this game doesn't help you, but you will find a full tutorial right at start which is always to your disposal. Don't let them fool you. You don't have to be a fan of previous titles to love it. It's simply awesome.

Ok, let's cut straight to the chase here. Bloodborne should be a 10 out of 10 game it's that good but From have made a major mis-step with the long loading screens.

On the surface of it Bloodborne plays much like all the other Souls games but there's a freshness about it. The game has more attitude and style. Everything that wasn't essential has been done away with and everything else has been refined. Items now scale with your stats like weapons so they remain relevant throughout. Bows are out, so no just buying loads of arrows and taking enemies out from range.

Bloodborne focuses more on stealth and close combat. Parrying is now done with a gun instead of a shield and there is a wider margin for error. Back stabs now require enemies to first be stunned with a charged attack making them more difficult in normal combat but easier if you sneak up from behind.

The game world is more cohesive and believable than DS 2 and more reminiscent of the first Dark Souls game with many shortcuts folding back in on themselves rather than branching out in straight lines. There is less variety in the locations as well but the environments look great and they never become stale. Whether or not Yharnham is best game world FromSoft have created is probably to early to say from just one play through.

I'd say wait for a patch to fix the long loading screens before you play but I can only review what's in front of me so I must deduct one point. It's a problem all of the developers own making as they constantly force you to revisit the central hub between warping (presumably to discourage grinding) but that design decision in itself doubles the number of load screens compounding an already serious problem.

Story is at most a little vague but its basically you are a outsider that got captured, you wind up being experimented on and you turn out a Hunter. Then you're whole reason to play is to kill stuff and hunt.
And killing stuff never felt so good! The extreme joy of defeating a boss in this game is second to none!
There is of course a big learn by trying here so don't get discouraged if you die 9 times in a row on the same enemy
Weapons are the igh point in this game and i friggen love them, its so damn cool that each weapon has a second form and its definitely something we have not seen in a game before.
Graphics are amazing and the setting is dark and grim like a heavy metal band cover.

Now unfortunately there are some frame rate issues but they are not that big, and thankfully never show up while fighting any enemies. The load time can be a pain as well but as long as you never die you won see them that often hehe. But in no way is as bad as people say. Kids these days are just to impatient.

Overall this game is a must buy for any souls or hardcore player, and i would say also a must for any ps4 owner, The difficulty might discourage some gamers but don't fret fight through it and and im sure you will find a game worth the hours.

May the good blood guide your way!

In places it has the best graphics of any game, the sound is fantastic as always, level design is confusing at first as always but once you've completed the game a couple of times you know exactly where you're going and you can just pick and choose your routes with ease.

I'm on my NG+2 at the moment and still going (82 hours of play). The combat is just such a joy that as with Dark Souls 1 it's not about completing the game once and leaving it, you only get to a really capable level after your first play-through.

Multiplayer's excellent, my personal preference is getting to the end of the game (almost, so all the levels are unlocked) then helping other players out with boss battles but you can go for PVP if that's your preference.

Too much to mention really but the idiots on here giving this a 0 are obviously just haters that bought a X1.... What a stupid choice you made, next time pay attention to what's going on in the industry instead of just buying what you think has a big name. Anyone that paid even the slightest bit of attention could see that X1 was trash and Microsoft are the evil empire.

    Poor misguided fools.

As for the people that made the right choice, rejoice: This is the first 5 star title of the new generation. It's about damn time too. This is BY FAR the weakest generation of games in the history of gaming.

    2. Loading screens can get annoying.
    3. Camera controls + lock on (big monsters are hard to deal with in small areas [due to camera] while the lock on can be lost by just dodging the wrong direction or the mob going behind a small wall)
    4. Outfit selection (Outfits basically look the same)
    5. Loot (Mobs don't drop loot like they use to, now they only drop misc items. Part of the fun was getting that cool armor this mob had on or getting their weapon etc.)
    6. Co-op (is a pain to get into at least at the start, used my only insight and never got someone to join me within a 30 minute period)

Great game but has some "issues" that can be overlooked by enjoying what is there. I'd recommend this game to any Demon/Dark Souls fan.

Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Having beaten the game, I can gladly say Bloodborne is as rewarding and as frustrating as ever.

-Would like to see more equipment variety, but whats there is very unique
-Bugs that would ruin some bosses and progression on launch day
-No arena for PvP Lovers :(

For someone who's is coming from the previous Souls games, this is a true masterpiece. Graphics, audio, voice acting, dialogue, story, performance, and most important of all; atmosphere are top notch. The weapon transformations are probably the coolest thing I've ever seen since the climbing mechanics in Shadow of The Colossus. The bosses ooze inspiration and are incredibly unique. The heavy emphasis on guns on this game is also a plus. I practically forgot what a shield was. The regain system is brilliantly done, giving you a small window of time the retrieve your recently stolen health back from beating the **** out of the enemies that took it from you. With that info in mind, let me say that anyone can get into Bloodborne. Learning the weapons and combat is challenging. Repeating areas, something others complain about, forces you to hone your play style. I'm using the threaded cane and am not used to a weapon getting better as I progress in a game.

The boss fights are insane, and there really is a sense of accomplishment when you succeed. Hell, I've even felt elated just finding strats to take down simple mobs because they are usually not very simple.

In short, nothing is handed to you and you earn every accomplishment. I haven't felt this challenged and sometimes very frustrated in years. Even the story is largely in your hands to interpret. There are also boatloads of videos of pro players to help if you're out of ideas.

    Some cons:

    1. FPS can dip, especially when NPCs are near fire.
    2. Load times need to be fixed between deaths and traveling.

    One simple truth:

    1. Like any game, but this one in particular, you will have moments when you want to throw the controller through the wall. Then you calm down and get back to having fun.

That's completely unfair, and tantamount to me leaving a negative review for Madden NFL because I don't like sports games.

The game is inaccessible and difficult, yes.

The game is inaccessible and difficult, yes. Its a bit grindy, yes. Its all flavors of cryptic and forces you to immerse yourself to learn the story, oh yes. But that's what these games are about. If that's not your thing, cool. But there is a whole sea of Souls fans that love the series for these features.

Nearly every "criticism" I see in most of the zero marked reviews are features of the game that I and many others adore. I get that the Souls games are not for everyone, but a review should describe a game's quality, not a gamer's preference.

If you don't like Souls games, you won't like Bloodborne. That's it. If your unfamiliar with the Souls games and don't want to shell out $60 to see if you like them, give Dark Souls 1 a try. It's dirt cheap and even better.

Don't get the wrong idea, this is a really good title,Myazaki and his team did a cool job,but c'mon, why so many high scores in those reviews? It's one of the most overrated games I have ever played.

This will be a somewhat long review,so you will need some patience

Before listing the pros and cons I found while playing the game until its final moments of the true ending i'll tell my experience.

I really dedicated myself to this game,I searched everything in the wiki,I'm kind of a RPG maniac,I got Demon's Souls three months after it was released looking for a really interesting RPG on Ps3 that would hold me like good old titles since NES and Ps1 did.

And like I did in all the Soul Games I wasted a lot of time of my life looking into the game mechanics and infos about builds, armors, weapons, stats and all those stuffs.
And while looking into the wiki I realized that I found the first problem: I finished my build in more or less 2 hours...is that a good thing? Maybe.
Of course it's nice I don't need to spend 1000+ hours in a game until I finally create my true desired build(like happened in Dark Souls 2,holy **** From, wtf is your problem putting 9999999999 equipments in a game? I really wished that Dark Souls 1 could have some more equipments, but it was just too extreme in Dark Souls 2 with all those useless millions swords and greatswords and few twinblades/curved greatswords/greatbows/fists/whips...a middle term between the two games would make it nice, but anyway...)

But then I realized that finishing my build in two hours was bad and not good, because there wasn't too much things to see,to search,to look into it...because the game lacks diversity!
IN EVERY **** WAY, making fun and the variety of builds really limited and everybody using the same weapons in 90% of the time. And this sucks, because this is something that can't happen in a RPG.The game is more of a hack 'n slash than a RPG.They didn't polish the details of the game.Everything is so simple,so superficial,so "we will not work too much in these features,so let's just say to them we wanted to keep it simple,so they don't have too much to worry and this will be fun"

IT IS FUN,but after some time it's just repetitive.

    *******Cons:

    -Very few stats,only six.
-Very small number of weapons, even with it's trick mechanic
-Very small number of secondary weapons
    -Very small number of equipments
-A lot of equipments are variations of the default hunter armor
-Only true difference between armors is it's appearance, the changes in the stats are minimal, and so you can't really change the damage that you take,if you want to survive more hits the only way is investing in your HP or levelling.
-Where are the rings that all of us RPG fans love? The few Runes were a great improvement but it would be nice to have both runes and rings, each one with its own utilities or at least more Runes.
    -Very small number of "magics"
-Talking about magic, why the **** does magic uses QSB? You can only carry 20 QSB without Odeon Runes, and you need to use a lot of them for the magics, and ALL secondary weapons uses it too,so you basically use magic one or two times before you run low of QSB.If you want to use both magic and secondary weapons you're screwed.
-Only one form of defending yourself from attacks: evading. There's no shields,no protective magics the name of this game should be "attack&evade" because it's just about that or trying to parry with your gun,but the system for parry isn't the same to all enemies and some can't even be parried(even hack and slash games have more ways of defending yourself apart of evading ,for example guarding, counter or instant counter),and because of that comes the main con:
-The game is very repetitive, from the beginning to the end it's just the same gameplay, with some little improvements that are so small that it don't feel interesting at all,it becomes lame, being saved basically by the boss encounters.
-Few npc's.This wouldn't be a problem if they at least had some use or role in the game but 95% of them are absolute useless,or are in the game just to teach you some gestures. No tutors, very few merchants(only the two at Hunter's Dream),very few quest lines and rewards.
-Enemy NPC Hunters are ridiculous powerful, they have infinite bullets and they will spam their magics and secondary weapons making direct combat with them kind of inviable and unbalanced, and it's even worse if there's more than one,you need to use bugs or map limits that they don't transpass because when they come near this map limit they turnback to their original spot with the AI combat absolutely messed up and ignoring your existence(they just walk away giving their back for you to hit them hard)
-History is kind poor,it isn't all bad,but again,it's too simple.
-Chalice Dungeons / Random Dungeons are boring as hell, I don't know who had that idea but it don't work,at least not for me.It's pretty boring to stay in a dungeon that every floor and room looks almost the same as others, doing the same **** over and over again. And all the strongest items and runes are in there,so it's kind sad...
-No secrets, no hidden walls, almost nothing to look or search for, almost no discovery.
-It's not fun to replay it at all,it's repetitive even in the first playtrough(there was a point I nearly stopped playing because I was bored, but i was at 70% of the game so I keep up),I can't imagine how boring it can be in a NG+ doing the same things over and over again one more time.
    -Too few covenants
-True Ending and last battle was kind of disappointing, kind of "...it's just that?".
-Because of all of this the PvP is boring

Ok after this speech and saying just bad things, comes the Pros:

    *******Pros:

    -Pretty cool graphics
-Hard and challenging maps,I dare to say it's harder then the Souls Games in some aspects
-One of the best atmospheres I ever saw in a game,it's really really nice you know? It's darker and heavier than any Souls Game with it's "gothic-postapocalyptical-madness-world" elements and It makes you feel immersed and sometimes tense of what comes next, scared of losing your 100,000 Blood Echos in a map that enemies can appear out of the blue basically from everywhere, and if you're not on your guard: YOU.WILL.DIE.
    -Excellent soundtrack
-Really cool and well designed enemies
-Boss battles are freaking awesome, the cutscenes are nice, they are cool looking, gruesome, ugly, strong, fast, they scream and makes you piss your pants when they are raged and all the Boss Themes only make it better!
-Beautiful armors and equipments -Cool looking Weapons, every weapon has a unique and nice moveset -Trick system of the weapons are one of the coolest and interesting inovations i ever saw,the combos you can make with them are satisfying -Well designed maps -Interesting Blood Gem Feature -Interesting Rune Feature -Creative and cool magics And that's it...the game basically takes one step foward and two back... I always dreamed about something like the runes and the blood gems feature on a Souls Game, and more intimidating bosses(the majority of dark Souls 2 bosses are a joke) and an atmosphere more "Dark Age" to make you feel like you were on a Tolkien LotR's book(Demons Souls was the one that got closest to this Medieval Dark Age Fantasy atmosphere in my opinion) and when a game does have something like these elements...it lacks A LOT in other elements... It's a nice game, but guys...it's not a top tier game...

Absolutely fantastic game. The first few hours are the best. I've never enjoyed dying as much in a computer game! The opening is superb, thrown into the game with no weapons or tutorial, you will die. Alot. To begin with killing just one enemy was an amazing feeling. This game really gives you a great sense of accomplishment.

Slowly you begin to learn and everything clicks. At this point the game really comes into it's own. I don't want to say too much as it's best to just experience this game on it's own. Resist the urge to read any guides as you'll find it so much more rewarding.

Bloodborne is a fantastic experience for the Playstation 4! I love it! It's so damn hard, you'll die so many times, but that doesn't make the game less fun! Great controls, story and an awesome yet scary world full of suprises. A must have!

Visually striking, nerve-shredding and a fascinating streamlining of the Souls formula. Bloodborne is an exclusive jewel in the PS4 crown and you need to own it. [June 2015, p71]
