Blightbound is a decent multiplayer dungeon crawler, which expresses its full potential only if you have a group of friends to play with.

Blightbound has a lot of good to offer, but with dodgy matchmaking and a repetitive feel to the gameplay, it won't be for everyone.

In its current state Blightbound is nothing else but disappointment. There is a lot of potential in the game, but it is squandered not only by technical issues, but also by some very bad design choices. This is far from a finished game, and the people on the forums complain that in many aspects it is even worse than what they saw during the Early Access phase. Blightbound does not need only bug fixes, but a complete overhaul, because it is not a fun experience by any means. It tried to walk in the footsteps of the great classics, but it fell on its face in the most embarrassing way.

My opening days with Blightbound were ridden with crashes and bugs. Luckily the say one patch fixed most of these and you, if you buy it, will never have to suffer as I did. When I got through the initial pain, there are parts of Blightbound I liked. I enjoyed combing abilities together, I really enjoyed multiplayer and collecting new heroes is delightful. Be wary of playing alone though, the AI is tosh and the game can get quite repetitive in longer sessions. There are better examples of dungeon crawlers out there but Blightbound does have some good qualities mixed in with its bad ones.

We're always up for some co-op brawling action and we love a good loot system and RPG mechanics. Unfortunately, Blightbound rather fumbles the ball when it comes to every element. There's fun to be had when it goes well but you feel as though you're fighting every aspect of the game to get to it.

The game has potential, it lacks content as it has only 3 areas to visit, each one with 3 missions, and needs some fixes, but as it is rightThe game has potential, it lacks content as it has only 3 areas to visit, each one with 3 missions, and needs some fixes, but as it is right now, is a decent game. And it seems the devs are aiming to create a very good game. The battle system, for example, is really good.

For some reason the main menu says "play online" instead of "start game" or something similar. But the game can be played online (up to 3 people), couch co-op, and solo with bots.

The bots do help to solve puzzles that the player might find during the adventure, so only in really weird situations you will be stuck. But they are not the sharpest tool in the shed when fighting, they do dumb things in each run. Like healing you when you are downed (healing does not work on downed allies) and then trying to revive you, using the strongest attacks on mobs when there is no need... Things like that. But most of the time they do their work. Still, nothing can beat 3 human players. And on harder difficulties the A.I will not be that useful.

There are 3 classes, warrior (he can block, hit hard and act as a tank) , mage (he can attack from the distance and heal the party), and assassin (she is the most technical character, and her backstabs do a lot of damage). Each class is different from the others. Players are encouraged to get used to all of them as each run requires 3 players or bots, and 1 player or bot of each class, and some crafting items can only be obtained playing with each one of the classes.

The story of the game is told through the intro and each character story. At the start you have 1 character on each class. More are unlocked if you find them exploring the different stages or if you buy them. Each character has it own Titan Skills (special skills and ultimate skill) and passive skill, but the way they attack and dodge is defined by the character's class. Some special skills and ultimates are shared between characters of the same class.

Right now there are about 20 heroes to find, 9 missions and 3 areas to visit. There is also a Final dungeon that I have yet to unlock, I think.

The fact that there are only 3 areas and 9 missions might affect the game negatively as it might be a repetitive to see the same 3 areas and their 3 missions, when the devs clearly are aiming for replayability.

Each time you complete a mission, the character you played as, will level up, allowing to distribute stats points between power, agility, vitality, will, and luck.

If you are defeated, you will obtain a small prize, but your character will not level up.

The game needs some fixes, but it might become a very good beat 'em up. Considering that potential, and the fact that, as it is right now, the game is good, I gave the game a 6/10. Will be great if in the future I can say: "that number was well deserved and should be even higher".
