This is the first time for me to play a battlefield game,
Graphics are great, animation and control are great too
campaign is linear and looks like playing call of duty !!
weapons are good, but i didn't like the way you select the weapons when you find them in the way,
If you are alone and want to spend some time you can have fun with this beautiful game but there is nothing new

A good little surprise on the PS4, The game plays good and it runs well, The Singleplayer is still not that good, One of the only bad things is the frame rate during Levelutions. Otherwise, Good game.

I found this game to very refreshing, coming from a long streak of COD games. While I cannot speak for everyone, I have had no serious problems with the game and no "critical" bugs that render the game "unplayable". From my personal experience, the game has crashing a few times and every now and then, it takes a few minutes to get you into the game but nothing to merit a 0 out of 10. The game has an adrenal feel to it in terms of the maps which are based entirely on BFBC2. I love the levolution concept and the ability to have more objects to destroy which they did not include in BF3. The game actually demands more teamwork than in BF3, however the guns feel like they deal the same damage. Amazingly enough, the recon class has been improved meaning you now have a way to measure your enemy/target from a long range and use your 8x scope to actually get headshots with the snipers. Really great, I do recommend this to anybody who likes the pushing factor of playing as a team and winning. The HUD system has been improved drastically, and the menus/spawning menu have been highly optimized to helping the player choose where they want to spawn with a tactical point of view.

The only reason I gave it a 9/10 is because it doesn't really include detail on the buildings such as in Seige of Shanghai. I get to the top floor and their isn't much to do their except camp, or be killed by campers.

I would have liked to see sections of the game that were more tailored to certain types of weapon with less opportunity to change your loadout mid-game, making it more of a tactical necessity to choose the correct weapons for your environment.

Invisible walls and glitches are just part of this disaster.
I really notice the lack of work and the lack of interest in the developers, the result of that is a BAD DESIGNED GAME, I heard terrible things about the campaign, i don't know that to think, a game with a very bad campaign is not worth buying

AtHaving played this game since its launch on the PS4, I have spent a lot of hours with this game. Before actually reviewing it I have played through all portions of this game, singleplayer and unlocked everything in multiplayer. Upon reflection, I realize that I have not actually had any fun with it. In multiplayer I feel like I am always one unlock away from this game being awesome. At the end of unlocking everything one notices the shallow, lifeless and monotonous objective captures and camper killing one must grind each day to have "fun".

Playing this game is basically playing on a rigged chess board in which one chess tile is more advantageous than the rest. At the start of a multiplayer match, all that matters is who gets to that rigged chess tile first.

A lot of the vehicles and weapons and their unlocks are extremely overpowered if you know how to use them. I mean if you know how to exploit these "loopholes" in the weapons and vehicles, one can go an entire round without ever dying and still have lots of kills and "points".

Say im using a jet, which i usually am, all i have to do is figure out the height of the invisible ceiling to bate jets to attack me. While they are stuck falling backwards down to Earth, i swoop in and take them out without trying. Same with the air to ground missilles, its all about timing. I can best any anti-aircraft in a jet by using special timing and height advantage to bypass his active protecttion and destroy him in one pass.

Take the Scout helicopter, same as BF3, people can sit in it and repair it infinitely. It is near impossible to kill it. Now I know battlefield will never be Arma or Operation Flashpoint (Google it), but this game desperately needs more realism for it to be entertaining. All of the multiplayer matches boil down to camping, capturing, then camping. It really gets old after a while because none of the battles feel dynamic at all. They all wind down the same way, with people standing in the same place and camping. very rarely will a match be a close match, not because one team always sucks, but because one team has more players than the other and totally rape the other team exploiting the game in the ways I've explained. Now if your into doing battle in the same exact way that always unfolds the same way, play this game.

Funny thing is I use to love this game, back before everyone figured out where the rigged chess piece was. Now it just is get to Objective charlie first and we will win the match. Sad day when even I dislike Battlefield. :/

Battlefield 4 is a gorgeous, strong and welcome addition to the franchise. So why notBattlefield 4 is a gorgeous, strong and welcome addition to the franchise. The multiplayer side of it is everything that multiplayer should be with huge, well built fully destructible maps that, without a vehicle, would take eons to cross. Running at a smooth 1080p with 60 frames per second gameplay this is truly one of the best looking and feeling games of the next generation. So why not 10 out of 10 you ask? Well, while this game provides some of the very best multiplayer I have seen in an extremely long time, there are/were a few issues. Issue one is the campaign which, and the developers admitted this, is bland with a generic, mediocre story. It's levels soon become stagnant with the repetitive gameplay of picking off one dumb AI at a time. But you're not here to play single player are you? I mean, who buys a Battlefield game for the single player? So, I'll move on and simply leave the campaign as not bad, but nothing we haven't seen before. So, the multiplayer, and while I must emphasise that it is now mainly a great joy to play, it wasn't always. The constant connection issues plagued what was and should have been a good game a lot earlier. Now the developers have fixed this issue, it's fine, it's fun but I'll always have the memories of waiting in a queue to join a server because it was playing that map that I adore. Waiting a few more minutes in the loading screen, then finally getting into the game, choosing my class, going out onto the battlefield to show everyone what I'm made of and... heartbreak. Disconnected again! But now, let bygones be bygones and move on because they've fixed this. Issue number three is mainly a minor one but I'm sure I'm not the only one who's come across this. The annoying hindrance that is not being able to customize your soldier, vehicles or weapons in the main menu. Just imagine it, you've just got that new gun you've been mowing down oh-so many people to get. You leave, go to the 'soldier' option in the main menu to equip it only to find that it's not there. This, while not game breaking, means that you have to find another match just to change a gun. Again, not a major issue, but like an itch on your back, it's going to cause you some minor discomfort. Aside from this Battlefield 4 is a huge step up from its predecessor Battlefield 3, with the ability to bring down dams, skyscrapers and even flood a city. It is truly an astonishing step for multiplayer and manages to finally topple its greatest of foes, Call of Duty Ghosts, from the number one spot on the multiplayer pedestal. My only advice for purchasing this game is to either get it on PC, Xbox One or the PlayStation 4. I picked up a copy for my Xbox 360 as a comparison to my PS4 edition and the change in gameplay was gigantic. This is not a game to be played on the 360 or PS3 as the consoles just can't keep up. Gameplay, graphics, map sizes and some vehicles are all sacrificed in the pursuit of trying to get this game to run on these consoles. And it nearly doesn't run. Almost immediately after getting into my first 360 game, I wished I had just stayed with my PS4. So whatever platform you get this multiplayer landmark on, just make sure that it can run the game at full capacity. Trust me, it's a price worth paying. Expand

BF4 is a great game with lots of fun to have. I haven't played the campaign which is not all that great from what I have read. But the massive multiplayer is amazing. It runs a 64 player game with out a single drop in frame rate. The graphics are very decent. I most say I never played the game from launch when it had lots of bugs, but right now those bugs are gone! great game!

Let's be honest, it's not about the single player campaign it's all about multiplayer. While the single player campaign is fine with the bog standard story, we all want multiplayer. It's had its problems but they seem to have ironed most of them out, plenty of maps and game types to choose and lots of weapons, vehicles to play with. Worth a purchase.

You cannot create your own game with some AI.
Menu uses the browser. Together with punkbuster creates many errors and problems. having to retype login all the time and random errors here and there that kicks you out of the game. a ridiculously infuriating experience.

People play very annoyingly in this Battlefield especially. I mean, BF3 was absolutely atrocious but this is even worse. At least in some of the previous BFs there was a rushing option where it could be fun but in this game all everyone does is camp and so you're essentially forced into doing the same. I however refuse to do so which is why I no longer play this game.

It truly feels and looks next-gen. The improvement of Battlefield from PS3 to PS4 is simply light years apart. The resolution, frame-rate, textures, player-count and epicness have been vastly improved. This game requires a good sound system or headset because simply letting the audio of this game coming out of your 20W TV speaker won't do it justice. The sound design is in incredible and the way your player reacts to the sound is increcible. When explosions happen right next to you in multiplayer, the subwoofer bangs and shakes the deepest bass ever and feels like a genuine explosion that it's unbelievable. The realism here is amazing and makes the game more exciting. Normally realism makes a game more boring, but here it makes the game so exciting. However, there are some big flaws such as the technical instability which can be extremely frustrating. The singleplayer is poor and while the game looks amazing most of the time, there are moments where the game can look a bit ugly and low-res. However it is the best game on PS4 as of the time of this review. Expand

All i can say is multiplayer is massive and marvellous! CoD may have came along and be setting world records but the quality is the key here, Battlefield is a total triumph and healds & shoulders above it's rival! With more DLC to come it's safe to assume things can only get bigger and better! The only disappointment is that DICE have missed a great chance with it's storytelling in single player, there was a chance to make Battlefield 4 the ultimate shooter! Expand

The graphics are AMAZING, the controls are solid, its an overall really fun game to play especially with friends.

Now the bad stuff. I almost finished the campaign until one day my save disappeared so that happened. Also probably once a week the game crashes. One other small thing is that there are no online parties so its hard to get on to the same team as your friends.

For instance, various people experience loss of campaign saves (often multiple times), it is common to be stuck in an infinite loading screen, players can become stuck in place, as well as many, many other minor bugs. None are quite game-breaking, but they add up to create a whole lot of frustration. These bugs show no progress toward being fixed, but they have no problem, of course, putting out and working on new DLC. Also (though I am sure nobody gets the game for this) the campaign mode is quite fun, and I was pleasantly surprised by the excitement of the missions. Without all of the minor bugs, I would rate this 8-9/10. Expand

This is just for the campaign.

So far this game by far has the best sound of any game on PS4 to date. The ambient and gun fire is top notch and the VO is actually very good. The graphics are stellar for a next gen launch game and the gameplay is fun. With that said the game is only around 6-7hrs long and the story gets really bizarre at times. All in all a great game to play over a weekend.

The singleplay this time was forgettable, but served as an introduction for the controls and gameplay. I soon dived into the multiplayer where these games usually shines, and well, it was fun. I soon found my favourite class in the classic gamemodes.
The difference this time, just as with BF3, I have a hard time advancing past a certain score. I find it very hard to get past the 10000 mark, most likely because this requires a lot of good team play, and there in lies the biggest problem I think.
It's incredibly hard to find a team, where anyone actually cares to play as a team. People are always off on their own agenda. This ultimately made me get bored, I always ended up feeling alone, and this in a game with potential 32 players to team up with....
You just really need friends to actually teamplay with for this game to shine for any extended period. Or you will most probably get bored real soon.
This was the same as with BF3.
I was a real pro playing BC2, I loved the levels and the gameplay and I could score high without knowing who I played with, I found it easy to help my team most of the time, and scoring was simple.
I just dont know what has happened to gameplay since then but it all just seem more chaotic and random.
I dont really have a favourite level either. It's really hard to find any good strategies. Especially if one team has a commander and yours dont your basically "painted" by drones and will often draw the shortest straw.
Bottom line is that BF to me has lost that old "magic" enjoyment I got out of BC2. I play for hours but dont feel like I'm progressing... I unlock stuff sure, but dont get past the feeling of randomness. No matter what I try I cant make much of a difference one game to another.
Final Word is that BF is prettier than ever, yet feels less fun. I cant put my finger on it really. It's just how I feel. I think it's a balancing issue, but also the large levels with a 1000 different places to camp and snipe from make it impossible to advance without taking a big risk. BC2 levels were not like that.

I'll give BF4 an OK, but I think DICE should think about going back to more basic levels, where skill makes more of a diffrence, not how many players take advantage of cheap camping tactics.

Battlefield has always been about slower paced combat with very satisfying multiplayer. BattleField 4 adds on to that concept and uses the new engine's destructibility to add to the chaos. Most of the major issues are technical but most of them have been fixed. Other than the technical side, the game almost feels like it requires battlefield 4 premium to get the most out of the game.

There isn't much else to say in terms of positives, I feel I have bundled them all up nice and tight in those couple terms. And I would so love to say this game is perfect...but it really isn't. I'm sorry Battlefield fans, but it seems the franchise is on a slow decline.

Admittedly, the game has come some way since Battlefield 3; levolution is a rather interesting concept, but here comes my first complaint; the trailers and game devs made it seem dynamic, but it's so scripted, I was more than just disappointed. OK, it's cool to wander around a street, just to notice it is slowly filling with water several minutes later, up to the point it becomes a river worthy of riding boats along. But how many times can this happen, before you feel like you've seen it before? Not many, I imagine. The same goes for the dam collapse, the building falling, and every other supposedly innovative alteration. Besides these, the game is just Battlefield 3, with shinier lens flare and elevators.

So, the campaign? It feels fantastic, characters are lifelike, and graphics are blindingly beautiful. I feel I have nearly no complaints about the campaign, besides the fact it lacks a very detailed story.

I have one final point to make at the moment. I have covered the single player, the multiplayer, and had you been keeping up with other reviews, you probably know what's coming next...yes, the bugs. They are few and far between, and rather minor, but things like sound taking a while to pop in on the multiplayer, and crashes in the singleplayer, not to mention one specific bug in the campaign where there was absolutely nothing to do, and some guy kept making it clear that he was ready for targets when there were none. These few bugs I have found so far are not game breaking, but they do feel incredibly damaging to the experience, especially when you have to back out and reenter the campaign, which makes you feel detached somewhat, and interrupts immersion.

The game is great, and may well be almost perfect, but it just feels gimmicky, and slightly damaged at the moment. Hopefully fixes will come, but it feels incomplete as it stands, so I say now to wait for price drops if you want this game, because it is certainly not worth £40 at the moment, but may well be sometime in the near future.

The game's single player campaign is over in two hours in a rather unconvincing and vague story of Tombstone squadron, who throws characters by the player only for them to expire rather soon after. It's hard to keep track of names, even if only for the three hour story. The plot is predictable and clichéd and utterly, heartbreakingly rubbish. The squad's attempts at humour and sass to authority harken back to the days of Bad Company, who were actually funny, believable and loveable characters. Unlike the forgettable and agitating characters of Battlefield 4.

Other than the awful writing, this game is GOLD. Every gamer worth her/his salt should play this game. The game's visuals run at a blistering 60fps consistently and look gorgeous. Bullets tear chunks of concrete and send them hurtling across your line of sight with sparks flying and rain splattering across the screen. The weather physics are impressive and Frostbite implies a bright future for EA's endeavours in the next generation of consoles. The multiplayer maps (already boosted with the China Rising DLC) are huge, memorable maps with destructible environments shining through in spectacular fashion. Upgrading to next gen has allowed up to 64 players to batter each other senseless with jets, helicopters, quad bikes, tanks, jeeps and all manner of weaponry while two Commanders gleefully oversee the whole affair with omnipotence. The Commander has made a welcome return after a substantial hiatus, and allows two players to take a top down view of the map and offer UAV support, direct individual squads, drop supplies, designate vehicles and generally shift the flow of combat. A good commander makes a noticeable change to the efficiency of a team. The communication between players is available on a wheel of commands to keep players in communication with one another even without microphones. The servers offer a generally consistently good connection with 64 players, but going from 20-Player squad death-matches to 64 shows a noticeable drop in the otherwise seamless connections.

At the time of writing, any noticeable problems with connections and saves seem to have been ironed out, and the game plays smoothly and fantastically. Levolution is surprisingly underwhelming on some maps and could have offered much more for the players, but this may develop as the new map packs are released. The game presents a fantastic new engine in spectacular fashion, with all manner of mayhem being unleashed on the battlefield each time a new game starts. It's easy to become addicted and it's hard to praise many other games after playing this. Get this game. Battlefield is FPS of champions.

The campaign is alright story wise, and there benefits to completing the campaign, namely guns to use in multiplayer. I have been experiencing data loss whenever I quit out of the campaign, so I haven't unlocked those said guns. This is a problem, and one that has persisted despite 3 different attempts(once after release, and after each patch).
Multiplayer has been a far more entertaining experience than my COD experience, although not by such a margin as to proclaim it the best game ever. Although ghosts has its spawning flaws, and poor map design, it still retains good hit detection for the most part and solid gameplay mechanics. BF4 has a wide array of weapons, vehicles, and the maps are great looking and dynamic. (COD destructive environments don't really compare to BF4, let's be real here). But all is not well, as netcode/hit detection problems are rampant, with problems connecting to games are prevalent.
In summary, BF4 is better than COD ghosts, but only just. I enjoy the multitude of weapon camos, the variety of weapons, and the large scale battles and gunfights. In comparison to the lack of camos, guns, and fierce gun battles that COD games have, BF4 makes a lot of sense. I understand that everyone has their own preferences, and having thoroughly played both, I must conclude that Ghosts got a 5, and I'm giving BF4 a 7.

This is my first time playing a battlefield game after playing COD in the past. There's no comparison, this game is COD on steroids. Playing COD is underwhelming and boring now compared to BF4. The amount of detail put into this game is amazing and it really pays off in multiplayer.

Battlefield 4 was the first Battlefield game I have played and I have to say it's been a fun experience. Yes this title has had its problems but for the most part now they seem to be all ironed out. This was my first next generation purchase and it was a good one. Multiplayer is the meat and potatoes of this game so if you're looking for a strong single player story look elsewhere. With that said the single player is playable but it has a very predictable on rails type feel with some cool moments but for some major action you'll want to turn your attention to multiplayer.
Multiplayer in Battlefield 4 can be anything from small domination type gameplay to huge 64 player matches complete with land sea and air vehicles. It does take some time getting used to the sheer massiveness and chaos of the larger type maps and volumes of players but its a excellent time. It is a shooter that will keep you entertained for a long time if you play with the right people. Like any FPS experience there are and can be some hair pulling moments, or maybe you're just a noob and need to get your S*** together. But with all this said Battlefield 4 is a solid game and if you're into shooter type games it's worth a shot, you'll be looking at and part of many explosions.

There are MANY glitches in this game. Upon the most common are Invisible characters, floating characters, muted audio, severe spawning issues, and many other annoying glitches as well. The majority of the glitches have been a problem only when playing TDM, but in Conquest, there are severe lagging issues on certain maps. However, I still find this game to be one of the best First-Person Shooters out there. The graphics are amazing and the weapons and vehicles are very realistic. They also offer alot of awesome customization options for vehicles and characters such as vehicle paint, uniform Camo, and many different types of weapons attachments. If it wasn't for all of the glitches I've experienced in online play, this game would undoubtedly be a 10 in my book. Expand

I bought this as one of my first Xbox One games. It was probably a bad choice for my family as we are not huge first person shooter fans. Mass Effect is probably the closest we get to first person action. After watching video of someone play this online in multiplayer, I thought it was the better choice, over Call of Duty. As I figured my son would love the multiplayer more. As he alwaysI bought this as one of my first Xbox One games. It was probably a bad choice for my family as we are not huge first person shooter fans. Mass Effect is probably the closest we get to first person action. After watching video of someone play this online in multiplayer, I thought it was the better choice, over Call of Duty. As I figured my son would love the multiplayer more. As he always seems to play multiplayer fighter games.

As a game it is average. The campaign was very short and seemed more like a tutorial than a game. Even as an almost total beginner on first person shooters it took me less than 4 hours to beat the campaign. Which is incredibly disappointing. The campaign itself was enough to keep me interested. But it was just way too short. I started on easy, beat that and tried normal. Then lost interest in the game. Same happened with my other family members.

The game was more rewarding once I got my favorite guns. Oddly I loved the combo of Sniper rifle and shotgun. Obviously one shot kills all the time. The sniper gun took out the ranged guys and when I had to get in close and personal my shotgun finished everyone off in one shot. And once you get used to controls even a beginner can wipe out most of the targets quickly enough. But when you first start you don't get to select what weapons you want. You have to gather the weapons, before you can get the selection you want. And depending on the weapons you like the campaign may be over before you get the weapons you like.

Others who played the game really liked it once they got their favorite guns. And it does seem to have a nice selection of weapons for those who favor different weapons. But no one seemed to want to continue playing after they beat the campaign.

It's also nice to see things be destroyed. Tanks can destroy entire walls. The unit you are training with is almost a bad after thought. As basically you quickly find out they are invincible and you just click a button to send them in. More control like Mass Effect would of been better in my opinion. But the campaign is so short, I guess it wouldn't of made sense to make you and your unit have more options to work together.

I am disappointed that every other word out of the NPC's in the campaign is F this and F that. I really wish it had an option to turn it off. Either that or they should let you know before you buy it by naming it Bleeping Battlefield Bleeping 4. Sure many love this. But it doesn't seem to add to the story when they swear every 2 seconds. It looses it's intended affect. It also makes it a game you don't want to play if there are young kids around. Even if their not watching you play, all they can hear is swearing.

No one has even tried the multiplayer for the game. So I can't rate the game lower than 5, as when I purchased the game I thought that would be it's biggest draw. It has many different vehicles from planes to boats, to tanks. You can also move around and take others out playing several different types of soldiers. Anything from medic to engineer (repairing vehicles) to soldiers. From what I saw of the video it seems great. I even invited friends over who like multiplayer games and they didn't really care about it. So the game just sits on the shelf gathering dust and I haven't even owned the Xbox one and Battlefield 4 for a whole month yet. To make it worse I only own 2 games for the Xbox One. So for Battlefield 4 to be sitting there, to a racing game says a lot.

Oddly in the campaign I had none of the issues others talk about. The games saved fine and I didn't lose any games. Neither did anyone else who I watched play the game. Though admittedly I never tried the online play, which seems to be the biggest draw and possibly has the most issues, at least according to others who have tried it.

It just seems to be another game EA has burned me on. I tried SWTOR. I tried SimCity, and now I tried Battlefield 4. And the quality of EA games just seems to be dropping lately. None of them were horrible. But none of them were above average. And most of them seem to have horrible online experiences. Even when they are mostly supposed to be enjoyed online.

This was one of the most fun first person shooters that I have ever played the multiplayer is amazing and puts every other fps multiplayer to shame. 66 players playing at the same time and buildings in the map that changes the entire game. However the single player was kinda lame it had some cool moments but it was nothing memorable. This is the fps you need to get if you get a ps4!

I will say that it is one of the best I have played in a few years. The maps are huge, but youre not running everywhere like in Battlefield 3. There is a huge selection of guns, and the 64 player matches make the game feel absolutely crazy at times. Leveling takes time, but you always feel rewarded for your progress. The biggest downside is the learning curve. The game is punishing, as youre playing with large groups of people who are very high level and can kill you very quickly. It leads to some frustrating moments, but if you can tough it out a few days, youre in for a good time

Like all other "shoot 'em up", mainstream media, first person games, Battlefield had an easily forgettable campaign that lacked focus or plot. The campaign also had other issues like certain missions crashing and not saving files on the ps4. The developers Dice apologized for this and updated the game ultimately fixing the problem, but this review should be on how the game performed at launch, not how it performs now.
The reason Battlefield games are so popular is because of it's realism and it's massive scale, modern warfare play style multiplayer. I feel as though Battlefield could have been immensely better if Dice (the developers) spent more time polishing their final product. Often times, I felt like I was just playing battlefield 3, because not a lot changed from both of the games.
To summarize battlefield 4, I'll say it was a mediocre game with it’s pros and cons. It’s pros were offering a massive multiplayer experience and it’s realistic graphics and it’s flaws were basically everything else about this game.

Bugs- These BUGS ARE EVERYWHERE, the Rubber Band effect, players that are in crouch dont have proper walking motions they just float along the ground, climbing onto objects then you somehow teleport back to the bottom of the object, a enemy player facing sideways then shoots their gun like their aiming right at you, game locks up while loading....there are a few more bugs NOT INCLUDING THE MAJOR SERVER LAG

Multiplayer Maps- These maps are way better then BF3, In BF3 you have flat type of maps but in BF4 you got buildings to hide in and there's way more destructible structures

Game Modes- There are a decent amount of game modes most of them are geared towards all maps. But for me Conquest Large is the best cause of the size of the map and options available compared to TDM

That was the first game I played in ps4 that had a "next-gen" feeling. It is a great addition to the series. Apart from the rather short but intense single player mode and some bugs I think that DICE did an awesome job on this one. The multiplayer mode is unmatched, however, it could use some tutorial mode to help players understand the concept incrementally.

Game is absolutely fantastic, amazing graphics and maps. So much more realistic than any COD game in terms of the gameplay and power of the weapons. More difficult than any COD game but still very fun. The reason it isn't a 10 is because the EA servers are very poor and there are occasional glitchy movements in the larger conquest games. In comparison with the current-gen of consoles, Battlefield 4 is the shooter for the next-gen consoles. The graphics are even more stunning than before and there’s an ability to play with more gamers on the console. Choose the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One-version above the current-gen versions.
  2. The issues aren’t ruinous, and in the case of the multiplayer more an inconvenience that EA needs to address than anything else – but it’s enough to take the shine off what should be one of the best shooters on PS4.
