    PROS:
-A promising ending for this beginning. Hopefully it can go places.
-You get to do the telltale thing again of saying things and having people remember them.

    CONS:
-brah, get a new engine already.
    -rather by the books
-Feels like a cheap imitation of batman. That or maybe I am sick of hearing about his dead parents. IT HAPPENED 30 YEARS AGO BRUCE! GET OVER IT!

I have been a fan of Telltale since the Walking Dead: Season 1, but even as a fan, I have to say that most of their recent work has been lacking of what I know they can do. That all changed once I played Batman: The Telltale Series. I found the story to be quite interesting and putting a twist on Batman's story. Telltale also added new features such as a new multiplayer option where you can play with friends and vote on different choices, in the game. I also felt like the choices have bigger consequences compare to some of their recents games and let you change Batman as the person we knew. However, this game isn't perfect, the game can be broken sometimes as frame rates drop largely, also the game didn't have much of action, being a Batman game, except the beginning and the end. In the end, Batman: The Telltale Series is the right move for putting Telltale back on track. Expand

By now everybody should know what to expect from a telltale game. Batman: The Telltale Series follows the same formula. But if you like this kind of modern visual novels thats not a bad thing. The storytelling is good and the characterization spot on. This is Batman as he should be. Yet again another amazing game by telltale. The whole Episode 1 was amazing a few bugs here and there but didn't ruin the experience for me. I enjoyed this episode. The game focuses more on Bruce Wayne than Batman. The choices you make determine how people view Bruce and Batman. The Batman parts are fun. There's a crime scene investigation that's simple but different from other TellTale games. The combat is heavily QTE based. Takes about three to four hours to finish (that's if you explore the surroundings).

If you already like telltale games, like I do, then you will love this game. Fans of Batman may be disappointed since there is a lot less crime fighting and more exploration of Bruce Wayne.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. one word describes this Batman game BORING!, and the Characters looked Stupid especially Harvey Dent and Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, QTE's made no sense because even if you failed them you still won, you had next to no control over Bruce Wayne/Batman aside from walking around and looking at stuff (yay!) all Battles are done VIA the QTE system and as said above its not possible to fail them I regret buying this game and will not buy the rest of the Episodes Expand

The Good: very good improved gameplay with replayable variables; new kind of story in Batman's universe.

The bad: I didn't really feel characterized with Bruce/Batman, probably because he is a protagonist known worldwide for almost a century, very different of protagonists of previous games ; mostly of the choices only affect Bruce/Batman's reputation. Conclussion: i hope next

Telltale games are the masters of pretending that your choices matter. These games annoy me to no end. Absolutely non of your choices effect the games story or outcome at all. For a game that's supposed to be a choose your own adventure, there's basically no consequence in any of your actions. Not to mention the graphics are horrible

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Telltale holding up the mantle of Batman after Rocksteady doesn't look very interesting. The story is to repetitive and dull, boring. It constantly just keeps on mentioning Bruce's dead parents. Second, unlike any Telltale game before, if you fail the prompt nothing happens, in the Wolf among us if you fail a prompt it affects the story, as for this it doesn't, the only thing is that your special move meter won't fill up. Third, the choices i make don't seem to be making a difference at all, i played this episode twice and tried different approaches and nothing different is happening, if you're nice to Falcone or not the whole Wayne conspiracy thing still happens. The only choices that feel like they're gonna make a difference is talking to Catwoman, i just took the nice ones in hopes that you get the chance to sleep with her in some point at the game. Expand

An apparently new and improved game engine is anything but, with regular framerate drops on PS4, bizarrely stilted animations, and sound effects cutting out entirely during action sequences further deadening the impact of already sloppily edited fight scenes. [Nov 2016, p.121]

A promising, if not stellar start. It may be wise to see if the rest of the season soars before putting your faith in this particular version of the Caped Crusader. [Oct 2016, p.95]

While I can’t say much about Batman as a series yet, what I can say is that I enjoyed my two hours as both Bruce and Batman. It’s a solid beginning for the caped crusader.
