Episode 4 of Telltale's Batman: The Enemy Within has top-notch writing, thoughtful depictions, and impactful decision-making moments. It leaves Bruce, Batman, and you to grapple with questions and uncertainty. Between the future of Joker, the nature of Amanda Waller, and the potential fallout of Bruce's mission on his allies, Telltale has set the stage for what could (better) be an explosive finale.

Telltale has not only managed to make one of the most interesting incarnations of the Harlequin of Hate, but the slow build has paid off wonderfully over two seasons.

Like a well-brewed cup of tea, the wait has finally paid off. We are finally getting the resolutions that this well-paced episodic deserves.

Regardless of how the finale plays it, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the journey of trying to rehabilitate one of comic’s greatest villains.

Continuing the great work of previous episodes, What Ails You sets up the season finale of Batman: The Enemy Within wonderfully.

What Ails You keeps the stakes high as Wayne continues to juggle numerous issues and relationships within the city of Gotham. While the short runtime can make this episode seem a bit more like filler, the usually stellar voice cast and key moments help keep the momentum up during the penultimate episode.

'What Ails You’ takes The Enemy Within’s biggest and boldest step yet toward redefining the Joker’s role in the Batman universe – should you choose to push him in that direction (which I did). It’s the other characters whose final impacts on Bruce Wayne/Batman’s life have yet to be determined.

John Doe’s unpredictability continues to be the highlight in a season that’s seen Bruce Wayne’s role become ever more important than the titular Dark Knight. While short, this is a solid episode that puts plenty of interesting plot threads into play, but with the finale around the corner, there’s very little resolution – merely setup for that all-important fifth episode.

With only one action sequence and not a single challenging puzzle in sight, The Enemy Within Episode 4 is clearly not the most intense Telltale episode ever made. But its portrayal of the Joker manages to make this second to last episode interesting.
