I never played the 1st game but it is not necessary to fast get to enjoy this masterpiece JRPG wich i would give a 9 but considering how addictive ang fun the game is i give it a 10. I think the story was better in the first game, but the gameplay is definitely better in this one.

This is a great game. This is just one of those games in which you can look for a couple of hours and be lost in it for almost the whole day. Cool crafting system, good battle system and good design of characters. Imho, but Ryza 1 & 2 are best in Atelier series + very friendly to newcomers. These games makes me think that game industry is not dead yet.

As someone who absolutely loved the first Atelier Ryza game, I can easily say that this is even better. There’s so much more to do and the characters are just as likable, if not more, than before. This game brings back my love of gaming. I’d give this a 9 but I love the characters so much that I can’t help indulging myself. 10!

It's just a standard low budget weeb game though the graphics are a bit better than usual, better JRPGs to play

The lack of English Dub keeps me from loving this game. I find the combat, story and game mechanics worthy (not ground breaking). The graphics are dated but okay. If lots of reading dialog doesn't bother and you like traditional RPGs then I can recommend this game. If reading hours worth of dialog doesn't sound fun then skip this one.

Ok, first of all, the idea that people think Ryza is better than Sophie or Lydie/Sue is legit smoking something. Don't get me wrong. Atelier Ryza 2 is...decent.

Yet when the story chokes on the last act, because all we got was repeating lines and storybeats from earlier in the game, I can't help but feel that it is overrated. Imo I'm being generous with that seven, because I could have

Imo I'm being generous with that seven, because I could have gone with a five. It still has no decent OST music, it is STILL a garbage ARPG and nothing about the items or combat have improved either.

Also, I noticed things like rain texturing and other minor details that add up with its visual presentation.

I'm glad Atelier Mysterious DX is out. It means I can wash the stench of mediocrity from both Ryza games.

Core of Atelier games has always been crafting. So its a shame that crafting in them has never been as fun and solid as it was in DQXI (or even better, in Skyrim and F4). In fact, the alchemy, as crafting is called here, has gotten worse over the years and over the games. As a result, Ryza 2 has one of the most tedious and overcomplicated crafting systems ever seen in games.

Sure, its nice to have boosts and special bonuses via alchemy. But, and this is the big but, nobody never really uses these boosts and bonuses in battles. When you throw bombs and items around in battle, you do not stop to read the bonuses in them. And so, the whole intricate alchemy system becomes totally pointless. Even more so when most gamers just use auto fill on the ingredients and let the game craft the best possible items automatic!
Apart from the tedious and pointless alchemy, the game is ok, if very last gen in the visual and sound department. And there is good humor and decent amount of stuff to do. So its not all bad as JRPGs go. But there are better atelier games out there, ones where crafting is done better as well, so you might as well skip this one.

Honestly, it was a fun experience. Not the most exceptional RPG, far from it, and the characters are quite unbearable at times. But making your own items and stuff with alchemy is really rewarding.

Not as good as the first one, but still very fun. I don't like that you have to treck through every corner of every level in this one. In the first one, it was a bonus--which made it more fun. Also, the music isn't as good. The in-battle gameplay is improved, though. So there are also positives at the same time.

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy‘s core elements come together to make for understanding and engaging friendly JRPG. It has the option to automate complex elements and the battle system can be grasped early on without hours of learning, helped with the solo focused action. Whoever you are, the game wants you to enjoy its charming story and over-joyous characters. While there are some points where the plot can be interrupted, due to all the bite size dialogue squeezed into the the adventure, and there are signs of budget restraints in its game design and enemy variety, Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy still makes for an entertaining time with a series that keeps adding additions to expand over its many game entries.
