One of the best if not the best games of VR, fun and somewhat challenging. As for most of the games of its genre, it lacks of a solid story, it is fun anyway and becomes more challenging as you move forward but not as challenging as it should be, that gets solved by the challengues you unlock allong the way so it is suitable for everyone.

The game shines for this in terms of binding. Maybe the backgrounds of most levels are practically one color, but the levels themselves have a lot of details, are stylistically and coloristically different, and the animations of both robots and enemies are at the highest level. Because fighting with huge bosses makes an impression as big as the bosses themselves, because in comparison to our protagonist, they are really great. It is a pity that music, despite the fact that it fits quite well, repeats in many levels. Astro Bot is the forerunner of Sony goggles. With its pampered presentation, the honey gameplay, or enough for about 8h campaign (and you can even extend it by doing much more difficult challenges), Astro Bot can not be omitted by any PSVR holder, if you are not allergic to platformers.

Anyway this isn't just that the level design is astoundinggg and that because of the vr and that 3d depth It uses every single mechanic you can think of and it looks just beautiful while at it. Think Pixar level graphics in 3d but jooollllllllly jooollllly good fun while moderately challenging too. There's level designs that'll take you back to sonic underwater levels but like 50 gazillllllin times better and then a little awesome karting bit too that took me back to megaman x5. It's just incredible the level design I thought I saw it all in the first 3 levels but holy **** did it just keep getting better and better.

Honestly Astrobot is one of those times you just stand up and salute the creators. Just phenomenal on every level. I played each level on repeat 4 times already. Even after the Plat I want more.

    Exceptional!

Been a good 20 years since I smiled as much as this over a video game.

There are many good games now that make PSVR worth the investment, but this game by itself makes it worth the purchase. It's a true system seller and more than worthy of all the good reviews it's gotten.

For those of you old enough to remember the feelings of pure fun and joy you had the first time you played Mario 64 in the 90's, be prepared to have those feelings again!

If you own a PSVR and dont have this game, buy it now or at least try the demo! There is a free demo available on PSN that let's you play the first 2 levels of world 1 and part of the Boss fight. These levels are fun, but the full game only gets better and more creative!

If you are on the fence, but interested in VR, now is the time. This is a game for people that love games and will convert all that try it into believers of 3rd person platformers in VR!

You are in for a treat as this is the best display of VR on PSVR and the best platformer on any headset at the moment.

Up until now, even if I'm more of a "great graphics" kind of guy, I still regard Super Mario Galaxy 2 as one of the best videogames ever. Move forward 8 years, put on a PSV helmet and launch Astro Bot. Just wow. A game that justifies VR on its own. One of the best games I have ever played. And just like Super Mario Galaxy (where Astro Bot gets a lot of inspiration), it's all about the gameplay. The fun. The joy. Enough for me to create a Metacritic account just to tell you how thrilled I am to experience this gem. Game of the Year, for me.

An absolute joy to play. I went in skeptical, as I don't think 3rd-person VR often works well, but I was all smiles all the way though. Polished to a mirror sheen, with some delightful little details. Perhaps a bit easy for older players, but great fun.

It's one of the most fun games I can remember playing, and gave plenty of awe-inspiring moments by making perfect use of the new perspective, whether it is the sheer size of boss enemies feeling like they are towering over you, taking a moment to enjoy the spectacular surroundings, physically using your head to attack enemies or break obstacles, or moving yourself to peer around corners or stand up to look over walls and realising you can find hidden areas this way.

It can be fluid and almost rhythmic in its' gameplay at times, as you control Astro over platforms and around enemies, while ducking and weaving around obstacles yourself, and it can be quite challenging late in the game. Forgiving checkpoints help with this however and ensure you don't get too frustrated with having to repeat lengthy sections of a difficult stage.

If you own a PSVR you definitely need to get this game. It's one of those games you will want to show your friends to convince them of the wonders of VR gaming.

The platforming is fun, creative and tight.

Only "complaints" (small ones) would be that the controller tracking isn't perfect but it is still good enough so that it isn't a big issue in the slightest and generally, the controller tracking isn't the most used feature in the game. You mostly just use the traditional buttons on your DS4.
Another one is that the scope/ambition of the game isn't that big and the price tag reflects that. For the price, you get more than enough. But as an overall game i would love something with greater ambition.

The first board meeting held for Astro Bot Rescue Mission could have featured a single word written in all caps on a whiteboard: CHARM. It oozes through the game’s pores, but never feels like a cheap or thoughtless cash-grab; this isn’t another me-too half-baked mascot platformer fast-tracked out the door.
