An excellent driving simulator which does not lose its qualities on consoles and will make happy fans of the genre.

Sim racing fans clamored for years for a serious console racing sim. They have finally had their wish granted. Assetto Corsa Competizione instantly becomes the premiere realistic console racing simulation game despite the hardware limitations of the current-gen. That doesn’t make it the best console racer, just the most realistic. The road ahead looks bright too with planned cross-platform support and future DLC which will also include an expansion of the racing scope with the release of GT4 cars coming this fall.

Assetto Corsa Competizione gets so much right. The spectacular physics have made their way to console untouched and the license allows them to focus brilliantly on so much. The sights and sounds feel in service of giving you knowledge and the feedback is all on hand to make you a better racer. It's not exactly accessible but it is rewarding and addictive.

Needless to deny, however, that limitations such as the lack of private lobbies in the multiplayer and the framerate blocked at 30 frames per second on all versions, even on mid-gen consoles, are quite heavy in such a precise, advanced and punitive product.

Assetto Corsa Competizione for PS4 is a good porting for one of the best driving simulations available right now, that despite a few compromises keeps a racing experience similar to the PC version.

Assetto Corsa Competizione has unsurpassed physics for console terms and offers PS4 and Xbox One players the most realistic racing experience. However, you have to endure a lot of technical malnutrition for that.

A lack of modes and the presence of bugs keep this hyper-realistic simulation game from truly soaring. It’s worth the investment, though - especially if you own a steering wheel controller.

Assetto Corsa Competizione is one of the most serious and advanced simracing titles. However, the transition from PC to current gen consoles comes with a great performance cost.

All of this puts me in a difficult spot with Assetto Corsa Competizione. On the one hand, it’s my favourite racing experience, hands down. It just handles beautifully. On the other hand, from features to gameplay modes and with regards to almost everything that doesn’t specifically involve racing, Competizione is substantially behind its peers, making this a racing experience that only the most hardcore of hardcore racing fans will get much out of.

Assetto Corsa Competizione offers solid gameplay and accurate car handling, and sadly that's almost the only thing it can offer. The PS4 port is full of bugs and technical issues, and the career mode can use some tweaking as well. All in all, it's obviously not a perfect racing game, but if you are really into cars and have nothing more on your hands to play with, it worth a shot.

A highly entertaining and accessible racing simulation which given additional content, better AI and improved framerate would have made an essential purchase for racing fans.

Certainly, this console version is technically behind the PC. But that does not detract from the qualities of the simulation. Despite a slightly disappointing framerate, we still manage to identify the limits and behavior of each vehicle. It is also all the salt of Assetto Corsa Competizione ; Drive safely and consistently while harnessing the strengths and weaknesses of the car. We swap pure performance for driving intelligence and that's for the better.

One of the best GT3-simulations is held back on PS4 by technical problems and missing features.

Once it gets into gear, Assetto Corsa Competizione turns into an enjoyable enough driving experience, with some often frustrating quirks. Every move, pass, and failure made is analysed, scored, and presented back with a grade at such a granular level you'll be left scratching your head at how you ever passed your driving test in the first place. However, the unstable framerate, janky animations, erratic camera modes, and lack of other in-game tracks and vehicles without paying more for the DLC, means that this is one for racing sim aficionados only.

The console versions of Assetto Corsa Competizione are capable of great racing, but they're also riddled with problems.

Assetto Corsa Competizione is a racing simulator with so much potential, but Kunos Simulazioni and d3t engineers haven’t managed to prepare it for a good performance in PS4 and Xbox One since the very first race. If they prepare some updates in the factory, maybe it will be able to compete for the victories in the future.
