    Assault Suit Leynos is exactly what a remake should be. It takes everything that worked about the original and improves upon it with modern flourishes.

    Though prospective pilots may have a tough time giving the green light to Assault Suit Leynos due to the hefty price tag, it’s an impeccable remake of a classic, underappreciated Genesis game that delivers all that could be asked of it and more.

    Sporting a varied campaign that's bolstered by satisfyingly weighty gameplay, Assault Suit Leynos is a good way to enjoy a hardcore classic. It isn't especially friendly to newcomers and at times its overwhelming mission design can be a burden, but it still stands strong as a solid mech shooter that'll put your piloting skills to the test – even 26 years after its original release.

    Assault Suit Leynos comes back with renewed visuals and the same entertaining method as it had 26 years ago. Even though its duration is too short, the fass of the shoot ‘em up genre will be really pleased with this game and its difficulty.

    Assault Suit Leynos is a fun game and a decent remake of a title that a lot of people may not have even heard of. It oozes with retroness with its great soundtrack, character designs, and overall feel. It’s just unfortunate that its exploitable boss fights and confusing controls (which will take you the entire hour length of the game to learn how to use) hold it back.

    Fans of 'Target Earth' will find a lot to like in 'Assault Suit Leynos.' It's just as rewarding as the Genesis original, and the game has never looked better. Those without a sense of nostalgia won't find as much here to appreciate though, as even on easy difficulty its extremely difficult.

It's a more polished game than Gunhound. It's a true refresh of the Genesis game with a new beautiful coat of paint. Maybe as close as we will see so a vanillaware drawn Run n Gun. Updated soundtrack and multiple difficulty modes for the modern audience. It has a classic mode with the classic music and a much steeper difficulty. The more you play the more extras you can unlock giving this short game much replay ability. If you miss old school games like Contra or Gunstar Heroes this game is up your ally. If you enjoyed GunhoundEX then you know what to expect. Really fun game for those looking for a challenge or old school gamers.… Full Review »

    When I was much younger I used to buy Japanese games for my Sega Genesis long before they came out in English if at all. I bought Assault SuitWhen I was much younger I used to buy Japanese games for my Sega Genesis long before they came out in English if at all. I bought Assault Suit Leynos based simply on the box art. It was definitely one of my most replayed games of that decade. The enemy placement was randomized and there were branching story paths depending on how you played the levels. Not too mention the large arsenal of weapons available really changed how you approached each level. When I had heard this had come out I had a geekgasm! Called my EB Games and he luckily still had a copy for $30. This is exactly what an update should be! It plays exactly the same as the original only a lot more smoothly. The graphics got a nice update and they actually added a few new things as well. I had forgotten what it feels like to get in that zone again! You know the one where you are dancing around 100's of bullets without getting hit until something breaks your concentration? Ya that zone. The game is very re-playable and most of all a lot of fun. Taking apart a giant battleship piece by piece is awesome! Also includes a classic mode that ramps up the difficulty with those randomly placed constantly re-spawning enemies from the original. I actually prefer this version as it is tough as nails and never exactly the same twice. I am so grateful this beloved title got this remake and if you are a fan of the original what the heck are you waiting for get out there before they are all gone! was a very limited release I was told.
