The next thing I unfortunately hate about this game is the environment, the color pallet and scenery are not at all suited to what is supposed to be England. The landscape could have been done so much better than it has been, but it feels as if it was designed by artists that have never left the city let alone visited the English countryside.

Finally I hate the how the vikings are very diplomatic and PC in this game. Vikings would not release hostages and when you plunder if you kill NPC's that are not solders you get told off and told you will de-synchronize. Vikings would have literally killed everyone, especially the clergy.

I wanted to love this game, i really did, I brought a new graphics card just to play it. But i don't think i actually like it, it feels a bit of a let down, the franchise had the chance to do something completely different with this game but overall the game feels bland and just a bit disappointing.

A consistently buggy and soulless world. Calling games "designed by committee" is a bit of a cliche but it's rare to find a game so wholly lacking in anything that resembles heart or humanity. No idea why people are giving this a 10, it's pretty basic, most of the combat animations are on repeat, the map is large but devoid of anything interesting (much of it seemingly randomly generated), random quests lack imagination (burn this down, collect X number of Y or answer a riddle), the map is locked down via power bloat rather than increasing challenge in the enemies move setsNo idea why people are giving this a 10, it's pretty basic, most of the combat animations are on repeat, the map is large but devoid of anything interesting (much of it seemingly randomly generated), random quests lack imagination (burn this down, collect X number of Y or answer a riddle), the map is locked down via power bloat rather than increasing challenge in the enemies move sets (Random footman in X territory does 100 damage while his clone elsewhere does 1000).

Effectively everything is given just enough polish to make it seem passable at first glance, however once you play it for more than a few hours you'll note how little respect the game has for your time.

I have to revire the game so low because it's obviously an awesome experience, well crafted if a little bloated... but that's meaningless if I can't actively save progress. Ubisoft's fix "in the coming weks" isn't heartening for a game I soent $120 on.

The graphics are by far Valhalla’s best feature. The backdrop of English woodland and rivers makes for a very pleasant and vibrant environment. The problem I have with this is the same as Origins and Odyssey; it’s just too big. After a few hours things almost seem to ‘repeat’, as backgrounds look familiar no matter where you are on the map.

The story of Valhalla is as forgettable as previous entries, like a limp attempt at a JRPG. There’s a big battle at the start where you as a child witness people you love dying, leading to revenge quests. I don’t even think there’s a risk of spoiling the story here as it’s so familiar and cropped from every other game of this genre. I found the voice acting of female Eivor to be painfully cringey and forced also.

The gameplay of Valhalla is where they somehow made the game significantly worse than its predecessors. With Odyssey there was an enjoyable loop with satisfying combat. Valhalla has somehow lost this. Combat is monotonous. Areas are irritating to traverse, with rooms becoming so randomly dark.

The map of Valhalla is stupidly large and bloated with the same Ubisoft open-world crap that you need to explore and collect. It’s copied and pasted almost identically from previous entries. At first, it’s nice to explore but then I see familiar icons appearing on the map and large distances to unlock fast travel points and become very fatigued by the repetition.

If Valhalla was the only AC game on PS4, this would be a pretty decent game, but asking us to pay full price for the same old game with a new coat of paint is scandalous.

Valhalla also suffers massively from a lack of identity. The Viking theme isn’t as vivid and won’t live on in my memory as Origin and Odyssey did with their Egyptian and Greek themes. Games like Greedfall and Witcher have similar woodland environments, making Valhalla feel like it’s treading old ground.

Let’s also not forget the buggy nature of this game and the exploitative microtransactions.
Overall, this is a game to be avoided. Origins and Odyssey had refreshing elements, but Valhalla wears out its welcome very quickly, coming across as a game designed by businessmen sat around a table in suits rather than passionate developers keen to expand the limits of videogames. Avoid.

Wading trough snow is not technically as great as say, RDR2. face animation and textures is not very fluid. And since when was hipster hair fashion a thing in the Viking age?
Also the kill-animations are cool ONCE. Here they are happening over and over all the time on big brutes and you have to watch them every time until you just want to puke. Let us turn it OFF please Ubisoft.

The Assassins mechanic is pretty much non-existent in this game. Just don´t bother trying using stealth for garrison infiltrations. It´s broken and corrupted, completely decimated from the game. Stealth is cooked down to only hiding in the bushes. Not ONCE could i do a mission completely stealth. Impossible as i can guarantee you that you will be spotted after 10 seconds.
The assassins formula is simply not there anymore, which is sad.

Ubisoft has been very good at designing maps, but here it all feels generic, no wow-factor areas to speak of.
Instead they make a map to annoy you. The have placed rock fences ALL around the map to kill any fluidity of rising horseback, as to believe if vikings really built so many rock fences. But all in all I was hoping for huge mythical places, temples and norse fables tales areas. This is just whack.
To be honest, the further out in game you came, the more detached from feeling a Viking era game it became. Thanks to technical stuff and large society cities & villages.

Audio: Music model follows same suit as previous. The same goes for voice acting that is just as bad as it always have been. accents terrible, comedic at point.

By far the worst part of AC Valhalla is the combat. God knows what they were thinking designing it. The amount of sluggish feel and lag in response and button registration is the worst i have seen in any game. Gone is fluidity, in comes stagnation and rage. Your protagonist at often just stands there stupid while you mash buttons to counter attacks. It is TOTALLY broken. Blocking only works when it wants to.
    Absolute crap.

Story is abysmal at best, i was hoping for more mysticism and norse fable episodes as i said. But again the story is the prime motivator here to even complete the game. But the story just dilutes into nothing. So many missions consists of you just riding long paths just to talk to a guy, for then to return to you came from and talk to another. And at the same time, devoid of any action. On another note: Im in England and i do not really know what my main goal in this game is? Make alliance with the brits? I just seem to make alliance in one area after another and it just never ends.
The side quest must be some of the most sloppiest written and hastily made rubbish by far. Some are borderline no more than map & game fillers. You get a quest to fetch something, yeah its just around the house from here. Play hide and seek with some kids. Burn down a house. One mission i simply just talked to a man, Mission complete, here is 500 exp. I mean come on. No challenge, no frills. Just utter crock of nonsense that ridicules any valid seriousness in this game.

I was grinding this game hard to begin with. With a slow and uninspiring intro in Norway, England does boost your morale to explore when you get there. But it is too BIG. But after the usual explore, hoard and collect in massive doses, i got tired. Since 60% of all loot is somewhat underground or locked in, you have to spend many boring hours just trying to find the entrance, or the key. Yawn..... Never has hoarding been so boring.

Bugs.. plenty. Even game breaking ones. Blue-screen of death happens ever so often.

Nope, sorry Ubisoft. Not only is this game awfully long, but boring storyline in the process. A wasted opportunity of what could have been an epic tale.

Firstly, it is not an assassin's creed game. I don't care that it isn't assassins vs templars but it should at least be a stealth game and this isn't. The game actually discourages stealth. In raids you need your crew to open doors and chests so you can't be stealthy and in the main missions you often siege a fortress rather than stealthily infiltrate it. Stealth is hard when you try to be stealthy because guards are always looking at each other and instantly become alerted as soon as they glimpse you. Stealth is useless. You can't even assassinate the zealots. In an assassins game you can't assassinate an enemy!

The game is too long. The length wouldn't be a problem if the game was full of fun and interesting content but it isn't. The main story has you going to each region of England to get an alliance. All regions are required to complete the story and only some of them are fun and interesting. After you've done a few they become boring and repetitive. First you go talk to someone, then you follow them slowly somewhere, where you get in a small fight. Talk to them again. Go more places to talk to more people or get in small fights. Talk some more. Fight a siege. Repeat for next region, unless it is a city. In a city you'll track down three order members and kill them. This game is very dialogue heavy. There is so much following people and talking. It's not interesting or fun, just a chore. It is clear the devs bit off more than they can chew and were forced to copy and paste content.

The side content is mostly useless and also not fun. Gear stats have little effect so once you've found a weapon type you like there is no reason to get more gear. You find ingots to upgrade your gear so finding them can be useful but there is more than enough ingots in the game. Annoyingly, these things are almost always behind a locked or barred door so it can turn into a chore to find them.
Artifacts and tattoo/hair designs are completely useless and also often a chore to get.
The mysteries can be interesting and I did a lot of them early game but the game started feeling long and drawn out so I just stopped doing them. You get more than enough skill points doing the main story anyway.

Parkour is clumsy. It can be a chore to get through a window.
Loading times are very long and the game loads a lot.

Overall, this game's problem is there is a huge map with a ton of content but so much of it is completely useless and repetitive this game feels like a chore to play. Took me 75 hours to beat.

It is a game that keeps you thinking "any minute now it's going to get better and that switch is going to go off where I'm having fun and locked in" but that moment never comes.

Most if not nearly all of the optional content on the map is absolutely not worth finding and players will learn this very quickly. There are a handful out of the 100s of markers that are interesting but it really does feel like filler to pad out the experience. The story is incredibly boring, dreary, and drawn out beyond comprehension. Once you've taken one region you've taken them all and by the 4th or 5th you're just done with it. You don't care about any of the characters like you might have done in Odyssey say with Kassandra, and as such there is little to no personal investment in any of it.

If you like running around dreary English fields for 70 - 100 hours doing nothing that matters then try it out. I was warned not to but I took a chance and I feel like I wasted 70 hours.

The Viking aesthetic is the best thing going for it. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla falls victim to the large studio that does not care about the content they put out, and knows you’ll buy their game no matter what. The game is filled with bugs. The audio sometimes abruptly ends or doesn’t match the lips. I’m lucky I’m even able to play it. My brother is stuck at the beginning of the game because of a Game Breaking Bug where the Seer’s Solace quest line doesn’t even show up for him so he cannot progress in the game past the 1st quest. It’s been almost two days and there is still no update for it. The combat is so unbelievably bland, boring and easy. It’s actually atrocious. The controls are clunky. The camera is also so far away during combat I can’t see anything. I’m playing on the hardest difficulty and it’s a cake walk. The “social stealth” is an absolute joke. It’s not even a thing. They lied about the fact that they made the world smaller than Odyssey. (It’s actually bigger)
If this game did not have the Viking aesthetic, it would be an absolute flop. The voice actor for Eivor is amazing, love him. Overall, the game feels like they wanted to do something great, but it lacks heart. The graphics are bad, and the character models move weird.
It feels like just another “open world AC game” with a different skin. (don’t just be large for the sake of being large) They have completely lost track of what Assassin’s Creed was, and moved on to something new, that could be cooler, but fails miserably. AC needs to be a 3 year cycle game, and they need to listen to their fan base. Ubisoft only seems to care about sh***ing out games and making money, which will end up hurting them in the long run.

Norse Gods, magic and monsters, riding wolves. This game is not Assassins Creed and since odyssey AC has really lost it’s identity. Bring back the old AC, get rid of the heavy rpg elements, revamp the combat, build a better parkour system, and give us Assassins vs Templar’s. The fact that Ghost of Tsushima felt more like an AC game than Valhalla, really says a lot about what Ubisoft is ignoring and what made this franchise great to begin with. Expand

Massive world, quests, combat, everything was good. Yes. I had that feeling IN 2013 when Assassin's Creed: Black Flag came out. It's been seven years and there's barely innovation. You're playing the same game but with different settings. For people who have played Assassin's Creed for the last 13 years, gaming at least for the past 20 years, Ubisoft will simply not satisfy you anymore unless they change up the formulas a bit.

    The bad:
    - The parry system has a delay. Comparing to Ghost of Tsushima where Jin Sakai instantly holds his blade up to deflect enemy attacks at the exact moment you press L1, Eivor (the main protagonist)tries to deflect an attack in 0.5 seconds after you pressed the L1 button. Not sure if this is a design flaw or done purposely, but I didn't encounter any of this in the last Assassin's Creed.

    - Again, the combat is rather uninspired. Comparing to Ghost of Tsushima where you get 4 fighting styles, you can equip various weapons on your left and right hand. It feels very buggy when your right hand is a heavy weapon and your left hand is a hammer.

    - They look most of the loot away. You can't really collect as many weapons and armor or gear anymore and compare their stats instantly in the menu now. Most of your rewards when you complete quests or raids will result in you getting more crafting components. These crafting components can then use it for upgrading. Not gonna lie, you might just happen to keep every gear without selling any of them when you complete the game.

-Maps way too huge with nothing to collect. Personal preference. Since there is no gear to actually collect, it's kind of pointless to wander around and plunder. Sure, you can collect the wealth to upgrade your settlement, but it feels pointless.

    - Dull characters and story. The Vikings are rather honorable and tamed, and not as brutal as they are supposed to be in their historical counterpart. Though I suppose they are depicted as the actual heroes of the story so they can't have the brutality shown and portrayed in the game. In the story, you travel from one place to another, constantly having new characters shown in an area where you have to earn their for them to pledge their allegiance to you. Rinse and repeat and that's pretty the story. The amount of characters in this game makes you care less and less the more you are introduced.

    - Frustrating to find the treasures. Is it even worth it?

So, if you are inexperienced or unfamiliar with Ubisoft games, you will love this game.

Furthermore, combat is janky and lacks impact, despite the flashy finishing moves. This makes it really hard for me to get into a rhythm in terms of the combat, which is something I appreciated about AC Odyssey.

In summary, there’s a lot to like about it, from the setting to some of the game mechanics, but it’s totally bogged down by it being a buggy janky mess. Maybe once they release some patches I’ll try it again but right now it’s just not worth the effort to play.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've played for ten hours as of this review and I gotta say I'm not impressed at all. The world feels small, the enemies are either super easy or super hard, the bow is the best weapon, no need to actually go stealthy (in the mission where you have to learn where the king of Mercia is hiding you need to get the info from some lady in a tight security fortress and it was easy as cake to just jump in and kill everyone Rambo style), the way they emphasize you're creating your own story feels over exaggerated cause I feel like I can count on one hand how many times I've had to pick my own dialogue option, the game is generally clunky as in your character goes everywhere, the weapon animations are very repeating so you get tired of them quickly, the finishers are all the same on on each class as in the standard bearer has one and so on, and I dont feel like the order of the ancients or whatever has been tied in to the main quest at ALL. I killed one of them voluntarily and they just jumped into some random dialogue without an explanation of who she, the order member, was and what she was doing.

    Greatly disappointed sadly

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m more disappointed than happy about this AC. The story is ok but it’s missing the big reason why you want to have everyone as an ally. And the fight system is better than origins and odyssey. Also the world looks good. BUT. The Parcours system is trash and I don’t know why but the developers wanted to show how bad it is so they put in some “catch me if you can” thing in it. Never liked it, never will. The game is too packed with small checklist stuff. I have to say that it is nice to have one weapon that you can upgrade from bad to best. But the variety is not there. The simplest and most common weapon is not even included in this game... why is there no normal sword!? I never had a game where I was exhausted before I even started the actual game but Ubisoft did it with AC Valhalla. Thinking about playing this game was good for the first 3 days but then it got boring and it takes too much time away with boring stuff. I think the time of AC has come to an end. Oh and by the way. There is a leveling system in this game. They just gave it another name (power level) but you still have to grind so that you can keep up in a fight, otherwise you get destroyed within one attack. Well played Ubisoft. I’m done with them and AC. Expand

Or if you play Origins again after Valhalla, you'll see how Bayek's journey seems much more important and intense than Eivor's. Yes, Valhalla has some interesting new features compared to its predecessors, but storywise, it's totally underwhelming. Eivor is little more than a Viking seeking to conquer Britain for the sake of it.
I really think the fuss about this game has more to do with the current interest in Norse culture than anything else. For a game that takes 100+ hours to beat, spending all that time with a boring, plain character feels a bit like a waste of time.

Keeping track of the enemies in the combat is near impossible. Added to that confusion is the new (heavily watered-down) Dark Souls-esque stamina system. So if you try and dodge around to stop yourself from dying you eventually run out of stamina and have to wait to get your breath back.

"Maybe this guy just sucks," I hear you say. But the truth is that there's nothing technical about the combat. It's a hack and slash. While Origins and Odyssey had fun abilities that would make the combat interesting and leave you feeling in control, this is just boring. Without the stamina it would honestly feel like mosou, with a long two handed swing slicing through enemies for the same amount of damage of their hit bars. Nothing visceral or powerful about it.

Bird is now useless. It can't find anything other than iron ore, leather, and a few other resources, as well as a general location of some "wealth" (this game's 'good loot') and "mysteries" (side quests).

On a positive note, the long winded side quests of Origins and Odyssey are now gone, if you didn't like them. Sadly, the 'mysteries' are now so meaningless that they aren't worth completing, except for the XP you desperately need to progress through the skills tree and make the game a little more bearable.

The world is strange and doesn't feel like England. The map is a grid system of rivers, and the land masses are basically big hills. There are some moments or incredible beauty, but the big picture is that the world feels nothing like the England I grew up in. No matter where you are, the topography resembles the Peak District - a region celebrated for it's steep and dense hills. The rolling hills and open valleys of the rest of England are nowhere to be seen.

Each area is it's own biome, and the first basically has a colour pallet of green, orange, and a lot of brown and black. It's not pretty.

The first few hours of the story amount to (mild spoiler alert), 'Norway blows, let's bounce,' followed by invading England. It's not a reason in and of itself to continue playing. For people who don't like the AC Modern Day storyline, you'll be pleased to know that there is no significant Isu stuff going on, and the whole Assassin/Templar thing is pretty much optional until about the last third of the game.

Gear and loot have been stripped right back. While you no longer have to deal with the ludicrous nature of carrying 100 weapons which you sell, you also don't have much to play with, and it takes a lot of the fun out of finding new weapons by spelunking. All you find is iron and leather to boost the stats of your existing weapon with all the originality of a 2006 MMO. This is supposed to reduce the amount of time you spend in menus managing a meaningless inventory. However, in an attempt to get players to 'learn about the world by playing,' or, 'live in the moment,' they've removed anything that looked like a tool to facilitate learning about the world and helping you get your bearings. I ironically spend more time in the menus in the this game that in any other AC.

    In summary;
Combat is hack and slash; the more technical aspects of waiting for an opening in Origins and Odyssey are gone.
Abilities take too long to get going.
The story is meaningless and a tragically ironically conservative commentary on immigration without integration.
There's no real Isu/Modern Day aspect, nor any real Assassin/Templar stuff.
The world is muddy and dark.
The exploration is infuriating and the player has the tools of a 2010 video game to help them navigate - but without a minimap.
There is no real system of rewarding the player for exploring.
The side quests are uninspired, contrived, poorly written, and ultimately pointless.
The voice acting for the main character is about several steps down from Bayek and Kassandra, and the animations are typical Ubisoft.

This game is unfinished from a design perspective, and that's before any mention of the never ending bugs. I didn't even know my PS4 had a 'database', but ACV has managed to break it three times.

I've played every AC game, including Liberation HD and the 2.5D platformers. This is by far the worst of them. I have no idea what they were trying to achieve, but assuming it was meant to be something 'positive', they have failed.

Gone are well-written dialogues and historical facts cleverly woven into an intricate story, replaced by vague Netflix-grade "fanfiction". The core of the game is now pure grind - do the same things over and over and over again, collecting miniscule amounts of resources you need to spend by the ton to upgrade your gear. Or head to the shop and pay to be allowed to skip the grind. But I have found a better move yet - I headed to the shop and did not buy the game. Thus, I saved money and time to play games that actually do not suck. I recommend you do the same! Game has good elements: story, character design, graphics, landscapes, city design, immersion, and great variety of weapons and gear that offer cosmetic styles (but not much else). I also like the raiding and siege components where you can experience a bigger combat feeling that plays on newer consoles well. Good value for money based on overall hours of play, just for the story itself.

BUUUUUT there's a ton to hate also.

    1. First, if playing console seems you MUST be signed on all the time through ubi trashy app. There's no point in this other than to hire another person's crappy npc viking or look at dumb in-game photos. There's a revenge system, but its not even worth doing cause they make the "confirm kill" take about 1 minute. Its boring. Series X also has a bad tendency of d/c on wifi, meaning you often have to reboot system or restart the game - UBI literally wont let you continue playing cause of that crap. I'm regularly spammed at least 1x an hour with "you must be online to play" or "verify you own this game". There is NO offline option I can find for xbox.

    2. Lot of the side action is just tedius crap that was made by people that hate video games or hate their customer base at Ubi. Cairn is a great example of torture stacking rocks like a primate with horrible controls. There's also chasing tattoo papers with bad parkour mechanics across every town. There's even fishing - that i find it's I just easier to shoot with arrows. But Most obnoxious are the anomalies which are parkour puzzle craps that offer no fun or purpose to the story. You're a scientist playing Eivor and transform in for these crap runs, but luckily youre also a parkour expert that is going to climb invisible blocks chasing random data cube while aligning magic light beams. Its dumb, unnecessary, and destroys any immersion of the game. I did a few of them, now avoid all of these now in came since I shouldn't be getting pissed off playing a video game that should be pleasurable. Whatever reward is there, it isn't worth the aggravation.

    3. WTF does almost every chest/door need a lock or need to be barred? Why are undergrad entrances so hard to find? Why put oil pots so far away rather than just have a skill that can wreck a flimsy rubble wall? If you add up all the time looking for keys, oil, or a window to snipe through, its not an exaggeration that 20% of the game time is just that. Its like a crappy easter that never goes away.

    4. Glitches galore (still not as bad as the first 3 though!). I've been climbing walls and suddenly I'm being tossed through the sky and have to reload. I've been killed by invincible wolves with 0 health. I've seen my ship flip on land starting a raid (CyberPunk quality glitches).

    5. There are unpolished design elements. As I like the raids and seiges, they have different shortcomings. The raids are too often generic cookie-cutter situations with no unique elements. They get boring quick. The seiges start off excellent early game, then the laziness sets in. The later seiges (2nd with Ivar; Wrath of Druids) felt like I was the only one in combat. Large castles felt empty and there was no excitement like early ones.

    6. The stealth mechanic is broken or doesn't exist. I have it set on lowest difficulty, but there's no way i can get through more than a few guards before I'm detected by some guy on the other side of the fort - of course with hood up. Pair enemies, and 90% of the time, I cant take both out before I'm spotted by the other.

    7. The parkour seems worse than earlier AC games. It's harder to control as the character runs off in their own directions too often.

    İyiGame Good Things

    Story (No spoilers)
The story of the game lasts for a minimum of 60 maximum 90 hours according to the gameplay. This is good news for those who pre-order the game like me or buy it shortly after the release, but it contains a handicap that can be liked in general, but it progresses very disconnected from each other, unfortunately. The 20-minute episode in the final of the game did not satisfy me, but this does not show that it is bad, I can say that it is an Assasin's Creed game with a good final.

    Play
Even though it feels very strange after experiencing 100+ hours of power fantasy and origins in Assasin's Creed Odyssey, the gameplay of the game depends on the person's ability to parry and attack at the right time is a concept that I always like and generally the finisher animations repeat themselves after 70 hours of playing. I can also say that it is satisfactory, the feeling of the hit is still weak, but it is stronger than origins and odyssey in general, I can say that I did not experience a certain error problem or animation glitch while playing, so it has a nice gameplay but unfortunately it cannot handle a 70-hour game.
    Graphics
I finished the game on PlayStation 4 and I can say that the water appearance and effects were better compared to the first 2 games of the series, but of course since it is a brand that releases a game every year or 2 years, I did not see a difference, of course, this is my ps4. It may also be due to my playing so I do not go too long here.
    Game's Map
England and Norway are beautifully reflected, but I think it is too colorful for a country that has constant rainfall and sees the sun once a month, or I look at it in detail.

Actually let's talk about the map, you're given 3 options at the beginning and really there isn't much of a need due to the same house design (the exact same houses, who knew vikings were into pre-fabs) and although your weapons can tear down the doors like papermache, a simple barricade can keep out an army.

Assassin creed games were once based on real life cities, or places and although certainly Norway etc does exist. none of what you see has any sort of historic bearing. Hell i'm wondering why they just don't call the games 'creed' and remove the unnecessary "hassassin" in there and the real world parts which make origins and odyssey blush.

The whole game just reminds you of how they could do better, how the game could be better... it's infuriating and frustrating. Like miles morales, this is not a next generation game. Ubisoft have become like the EA sports series.

This is one to avoid, one to not play... go dig out black flag but really, just avoid all creed games. This is terrible with a map designed by a high school drop out. We're used to gorgeous open world maps, filled with wonder... this is a clutterfest that degenerates itself so bad that i wonder why they included the village names at all....

Stealth is barely needed, the weapons feel terrible... i mean the saving grace may have been the dice game but meh; it's not as much fun as gwent, hell even trails of cold steel 4 has a better mini game than this

Other then the controlls being bad, the game is full of bugs, that take all fun you could have while playing away. It gets tireing, if you have to reload the game dozends of times, when objectives dont get completed, npcs that you are supposed to follow, dont move... I could go on and on and on - well let me just add one thing: bugs that were reported over 6 months ago (!) and which are stated to be fixed indeed await a patch and await to be fixed until today. In addition to all of this, the game feels really unrewarding. For collecting items in the world or slaying powerful beasts all you get is a new tattoo. Why am I bothering to do this in the first place if the reward is just bad? At least you get some weapons and armor along the way. But your loadout simply does not matter - enemies are far to easy to kill, the combat can't bring any challenge to the game. You could create multiple armor-sets for ranged combat, close combat, stealth - but you wont, just because you cant save loadouts and changing your equipment, putting runes back in, ... is just too tedious to bother doing.

Over all this game is a big dissappointment after origins and odyssey.

That’s not why I pre-ordered this game. And aside from that game-ending bug, there were TONS of other bugs in it. About half the time I try to load the game my ps4 crashes and says “too hot”. Froze on loading screen, froze during boss battle, frame rate sucked, a door that was supposed to be destructible wasn’t. And I mean this is just what I can remember from the first 3 hours a week ago. I could have looked past a lot of it, but the game ending one really sucked

All in all I can’t really give a full, accurate review because this game wasn’t, and isn’t ready for release. I’d highly suggest everyone hold off until they get some of these bugs resolved, then buy the game after they get a couple patchs

I like the skills presentation, but it's a shame that you can't see every skills you can unlock from the beginning... but i'ts a choice, it's a : 'choose your path' kind of thing, and it's ok
I like the fact that when you swim, the water is really cold, and it's affect your health immediately, and the screen start to freeze on the side. really nice
The fact that you can put different markers (with numbers) on the map is real plus for the explorations options

Cons : where to begin.... First, I like AC : Black flag : Great. Origines : naaahh. Odyssee : Awesome. I was really looking forward to that game. But here, the rhythm of the game is just terrible (after about 7h of gaming, it's just : movie, movie, (you can't skip by the way, just accelerate sometimes).... you go on a boat that you do not control, change map... have the impression that you really played like 1h hour...
The playability is just really sad, and terrible. It was nearly perfect on Odyssey, but here, the camera is just terrible. They put walls where they shouldn't, it's an epic journey if you just want to get out of a window of a little hut, fights are really not created for the 'assassin' strategy (you have to use a horn, most of the time).
During a battle against a boss, I fell under the level... no way to escape or continue the combat... seriously, just after downloading a patch.
Graphics (as I said, the mood is ok), but you have so much apple and cheese on tables (that you cannot get), but you have to get berries in nearly frozen bushes for supplies.. come on... please, take back the time you took for that and FIX the camera !

It's not a good game, that's all, and it's really sad. You have to watch 10 minutes of discussion before not having control of the game, and finally get a treasure that you will not use, because you already update your gear with better stuff during the presentation of the game.
    For 20$, maybe, enjoy.

    - the skill tree setup is fun, same as the way you get abilities by traveling the world
    - the way that armors are now so scarce prevent you have to deal with hundreds of items like in Odyssey.
That's the only good points I think and thus I give it 3.0/10.0

    Cons:
    - Bug, the background music sometimes stuck and never change no matter where you go.
    - Bug, the controller stuck in vibration mode and never went off while you are in Asgard.
    - Bug, after playing 3-4 hrs some visual glitches start appearing on screen.
    - Bug, randomly crash entire game.
    - Bad feature, the siege mission is so boring and repetitive, always the same procedure. Its fun for the first time but after that, you will have to do it for at least 10 times without anything new.
    - Bad feature, the main story in England is too long, have to deal with so much area and they all feel the same.
    - Bad feature, with the Odin sight, the bird is useless.
    - Bad feature, cannot wield weapon on mount, can only kick with your legs
    - Bad feature, the vendor all over the world share the same vault, you wont expect to buy something rare from different places.
    - Bad feature, the settlement is not impressive at all.
    - Bad feature, the raid is same as the siege, too repetitive, makes you feel tired of doing it just for the settlement resources.
    - Story, Its not clear why this viking has suddenly become an assassin
    - Story, just grinding England area to get allies is not appealing comparing with family story depicted in Odyssey.
    - Story, did not show a clear story with modern timeline as well as how the ancient knowledge get involved, everything feels like piling up features and not make any sense.

Overall, I'm pretty disappointed with AC Valhalla, the only good thing is combat system, DONT EXPECT ANYTHING ELSE.

Characters ser just not good. No feelings when certain ‘important’ characters died, and felt like it was made for 10 year olds

I'm disappointed Ubisoft launched a game that's so full of bugs and actually took people's money. They completely killed the whole AC reputation.

Jeu non fini, archibugé ! Mission répétitives, mystères nul à chier. Aucune gestion du village ni du drakkar ! Jeu qui sonne le glas des assassins.

The game goes out of its way with all the politically correct silliness that has ravaged so many games and other forms of entertainment lately. The ending is dreadful, and it crashes pretty regularly. I was expecting a Viking game, and didn't really get one. This will most definitely be my last assasins creed game.

If you want a decent experience, go for Origins or Odyssey. A lot of the secondary missions cannot be completed due bugs, the game is full of vissual glitches including bosses flying and enemies walking on walls. Bad response comands and the combat overall is a downgrade form previous games.

I won’t be finishing this game. My 3 rating is from visuals alone, as anything else in this game is ridiculously rewashed and repeated to the point of boredom. My character uses the same two axes I found before leaving the starting zone, and I’m over 40 hours into this game. The side quests are pointless, and most of the time you’re looking for loot it’s in a hidden underground door the developers try to hide from you to purposefully add game time to a story that feels like it was written by robots. If software could be made on a factory line, this would be a textbook example. This open world is huge, and lacking everything but some scattered boss fights whose challenge lies behind number walls you need to grind levels for so they don’t one shot you with incredibly basic combat powers. This game is a chore, and it even has your chores listed and broken down by area. The only thing more repetitive than the gameplay are the execution finishers, which will have you slay each of the five or six different enemies the same way throughout this snoozefest. Also, your Viking has no problem impaling people on spears but civilians are off limits. You can dual-wield, but your attack style only uses the main hand. The combat devolves into pressing the R2 button, and that’s it. It honestly doesn’t matter how you build your character because the absolutely whack progression system allows you to do everything eventually. AC has taken a bounding leap backwards with this installment. Ubisoft recently apologized for using “ableist” language in a specific character description and I really wish they’d just apologize for taking years out of their developers lives for producing this. To break it down, this is very disappointing. Odyssey was awesome. You had a buddy, your bird would harass and hurt ppl, let's do this... The crap they did with this game... No health regeneration, your bird is useless(unless you"program a crappy ability, with you shouldn't have to do!), Your Mount doesn't hunni off hardly anything. You have to be flat ground. You don't have a buddy on here(which is fbs!) You get a ability you have to stupidly program (takes a slot) for a Wolf that goes after 2 ppl & leaves(useless). You get no weapons that stay fire or poison, yet again program, you stupidly.. Have to program the normally automatic, hold down R2 to extra dmg... Oh noooo these geniuses made a program slot.... They have stupid missions to do that you get no clue how to do them, your worthless bird doesn't help, you shouldn't have to freaking look up simply missions for help!
If these ppl would stop worrying about themselves being a blue kangaroo or elephant & having the equality bs, instead of making a game for the fans to enjoy. We don't give a crap about your preferences on things, but don't put that garbage in a game! Adding beastiality angers me, sadly, looking who's making it, not surprising. Just make it for ppl who (will/do) enjoy playing, we don't want to see all the mental issues being displayed.
From ac3,Adding those stupid pages to chase is retarded, you can blend in a group but doesn't auto follow, on odyssey, you couldn't do some things but it was great none the less! Why the hell you take away us making a lynx/bear/whoever buddy, no health regeneration, so many glitches in the game which is ridiculous too.
The ONLY good things about the game: the fight scenes (finishers ) are great, super cool. Raiding, is freaking awesome. You can get other players jomsviking(sp), that's pretty neat.
There are some awesome abilities(several garbage and some that should be automatic no a programing) .Tyr's kick is a fav, i like the axe throwing but waiting on the upgrade.
The bad weighs out the good, but the good... Thankfully is what saves it, barely... I wish i never spent the money on it and waited for it to be free.
This is my opinion, take it or leave it. I'm straight forward and tell it like it is.

I've played almost all the AC games since Black Flag and this is by far the one I like the least but the one I wanted to like the most. Odyssey was a delight. Origins -> Fantastic. Valhalla? Sucks. Loot sucks so bad. Combat is so annoying and frustrating (especially shield Zealots). Glad I didn't pay full price for this thing. kids game, everything is average and the game doesnt shine in anything.

You play as kiddy vikings, they make the characters seem like real friendly people to the player even though vikings are murderers and pillagers. There is no viking brutality (only against christians cause apparently christians bad and raping murdering vikings good and wholesome). Can't even kill civillians, only

None of the brutality and hardness of vikings is there except for what i mentioned about killing christians. Hardly any customization except cosmetic.

Combat sucks, its just click, block, shoot, finisher and special attack. story feels like its on rails and very boring ones at that.

I wish it was on steam cause i would have refunded within the first hour.

I rate it a kids game, so average it hurts

There are far fewer cookie-cutter outposts than in previous AC’s, and most sidequests now offer an interesting story, sometimes even with a less-than-obvious solution. While some anti-grind measures have backfired, Ubisoft is on the right track. [Issue#250, page 56]

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a wonderful addition to the AC franchise. It manages to avoid the tropes that became overplayed and focuses on a small well structured story. The fighting mechanics are enjoyable and offer many choices to fit different playing styles. There are a significant amount of bugs and the AI is underwhelming at times. But it's still another step in the right direction for Ubisoft.

When Valhalla is at its best, it evolves series mechanics. And when you’re cruising down river, about to blow your raiding horn, there’s nothing quite like it. [Issue#183, p.71]
