Feb 13, 2015I could sit here and gush about the art style and overall presentation all day, but hey, go download this game and experience it for yourself.
-
CD-ActionApr 1, 2015The best news about Apotheon is that it does not just look astonishing, but it is also a great, very enjoyable metroidvania game made with passion. [04/2015, p.62]
-
Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaMar 24, 2015Expertly paced and has an arresting visual style. In tight spots, combat can often become a 'flailure'. [April 2015, p80]
-
Feb 9, 2015One of those indie jewels that we can find once in a while. Its style and aesthetics will hypnotize you. Sadly, we can´t say the same about its multiplayer.
-
Feb 9, 2015With an excellent visual presentation and ambient music, Apotheon is the first big indie surprise of the year. Although it presents slight problems in the controls and physics, its a mixed and interesting 2D experience and a great trip through Greek mythology.
-
Feb 20, 2015Stylish visuals and challenging fights: On the highest difficulty setting this is very close to Dark Souls in 2D.
-
Feb 10, 2015Apotheon may seem simple and kind of weird at the beginning, but it has a lot to offer. It is unique, not only because of the aesthetic, but also about all the mechanic it develops throughout the game.
-
Apr 12, 2015The positives do make it stand out. [Issue#159, p.112]

Feb 21, 2015It looks like we're playing a game on an ancient Greek vase, which makes it unique in the visuals department. The gameplay isn't as deep as it could have been, but it's enough to keep you interested for a while - or at least until the next big guns come out.
-
Feb 19, 2015Despite a control scheme that's anything but perfect, Apotheon is a fun and a memorable experience: the gameplay is brilliant, and the whole product is absolutely artistically inspired. This games stands out as a true piece of epic poetry, and it's something that you really have to play.
-
Feb 17, 2015A tendency to crash every now and then aside, Apotheon is a shining example of the Castlevania genre.
-
Feb 11, 2015Aside from the lack of co-op, I can't really think of a more engaging action game than Apotheon. Equally, I can't think of a game that fans of ancient Greek mythology will find more interesting than the story that this one weaves. Sorry, Kratos, but you've got nothing on Nikandreos.
-
Feb 9, 2015Alientrap has struck a great balance between their core 2-D Platforming and RPG-lite mechanics, and a varied world that challenges players in different ways throughout the course of this tightly paced adventure.
-
Feb 9, 2015Apotheon is not perfect, but it's still more than fit for a God. Minor crashing and design issues aside, this gorgeously presented action platformer packs plenty of variety beneath its pottery-inspired shell.
-
Feb 23, 2015Apotheon, even with its issues, is still an interesting game. Visually amazing, its Metroidvania gameplay makes us choose our own path in order for it to be easier to enjoy. An outstanding soundtrack and some remarkable details, so if you're PS Plus subscribers, doubt no more, since it could be one of the best 'gifts' to date this year.
-
Feb 25, 2015Apotheon is a nice adventure game offering uncommon visuals, meant to look like Greek ceramic. Even with its faults (strange physics, useless items, subtitles only in English), the game from Alien Trap brings a lot of fresh ideas and features.
-
Feb 21, 2015Apotheon is never a bad game, and occasionally, it’s even a great game, but it’s never consistently great enough to become a classic in the same way other indie titles like Journey have.
-
Feb 15, 2015It was fun, especially if you enjoy Metroidvania style games or Greek mythology. I’m excited to see more from Alientrap in the future.
-
Feb 10, 2015Gorgeous to look at, but a bit clunky to play, it's an old school platformer for hardcore gamers that do not fear challenge.
-
Mar 19, 2015To summarize, Apotheon is a fairly good game, but I feel more could have been added, and certain aspects certainly could have been handled better than they were upon the game’s port to a console.
-
Mar 5, 2015Despite some minor issues, Apotheon is a good bidimensional platform with small metroidvania elements, capable of capturing the player in an incredible, stylish world.
-
Feb 10, 2015Apotheon offers a unique graphical style and an interesting, non-linear adventure. However, imperfect controls can be off-putting for less patient players, especially in dexterity-demanding sections.
-
Feb 25, 2015Apotheon has a surprisingly strong style and the levels are interesting. It is such a pity this game is sickened by loads of bugs. Plus, the controls feel a bit too loose, which keeps the fights from getting any depth.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKApr 22, 2015Strikingly handsome and fun for a while, Apotheon's scrappy combat and awkward controls spoil its atmosphere, costing in a place among the action-platformer elite. [Apr 2015, p.94]
-
Feb 19, 2015Crashes, glitches, bugs and constant below-par combat manage to undermine the gorgeous art style.
-
Feb 5, 2015Deep in personality, but shallow in mechanics, Apotheon is a classic case of style over substance.
