    By far the most overhyped game of the decade. What you saw in the trailers was everything that was in the game. Not a bit more.
    **** story, no content at all, hundreds of bugs, bad gameplay. Graphics are the only part worth a point.

    Promised updates never arrived, lack of content and remake stopped.

    - 60 mins flying like Iron Man
    - 30 mins of finding out the variety of story and quests - 60 mins of dialogues So after 2 1/2 hours I saw enough of this game. Update: Anthem Next is gone and so are the promised fixes and improvements. I actually paid them to give me TRASH. WOW!     I had purchased this game on launch based on videos highlighting promised content. An ongoing world with frequent updates. After completing the game story it was clear the gameplay loop was dull. The content updates never materialized. It was a hollow ship for paid DLC.

    Anthem in some ways reminds me of death stranding. While there are some good ideas and some fun things to do in the game it's all overshadowed by the terrible writing and cringey unlikable characters. Everyone from the narators to the people that you meet in the game you just want them to shut up and go away the moment you meet them. The wise wahmen are kust over the top.One thing death stranding did right is that this game didn't is things like progression and satisfying rewards for grinding. Death stranding was very addicting in the way that it progressed you through the game were as anthem gets boring very early on with a shallow progression and loot system. One positive about the game would be the visuals the world looks pretty but it's completely shallow and non interactive. Also controls and movement feel very satisfying for a little while until you realise that it's just the same thing over and over. I think the only way to salvage a game would to be completely redo the loop system for better weapons and better more interesting gear. And just completely cut the story and the characters out just have little Dark Souls hints about what's going on. Because I couldn't stand one more second of the people in this game or the horrible writing.… Expand

    I tend to really like grinding for gear in looter games. After 13 years on WoW, 5 on Destiny, and lots of time spent on other games like Diablo and The Division, I’m no stranger to the genre. Given all my gripes with the game, I’m sure I would have stuck around and even enjoyed my time if the gear was at all interesting. But it just isn’t. It’s some of the most boring loot I’ve ever seen in a video game.

    Don’t pay money for this game. That being said, if you get it for free and wind up liking it, good on you.    … Expand

    The single shortest honeymoon period I've ever had in a game. Within the second hour of playing I had felt like I've seen everything it has to offer. Half-baked, dead and abandoned almost 2 years later, Anthem is the worst AAA looter-shooter to ever be released.

My largest complaints are that there are hardly any cosmetics so most players look similar but with different paint jobs, the loading times on PS4 pro are terrible and frequent, the sound design is criminally bland, and gear is uncreative and generic. Hating on this game is popular, but I actually played a significant amount it and can safely say that every criticism you've likely heard about it is absolutely true.

It's a truly barebones experience by all standards that I had little to no enjoyment playing whatsoever. Hating on this game is popular, but I actually played a significant amount it and can safely say that every criticism you've likely heard about it is absolutely true.

    For starters, the story is a mess that doesn't make much sense. Nothing is really ever expanded on, nor is a cohesive narrative or game world ever present at any point. Something about the Anthem of Creation and cataclysms and invaders, etc. The characters are also lacking in depth and personality. They all, including the protagonist, desperately try to be funny but rarely if ever achieve that goal. Dialogue options make a compulsory appearance, but it has absolutely no effect on the conversations at all and only serves to waste your time.

    You get quests at an empty, lifeless hub world that you have to slowly travel in first-person for some reason. This is where you talk to people who aren't interesting about things you don't care about and take on missions that aren't fun. It honestly serves as a buffer to the gameplay, especially with the gargantuan load times you suffer in transition.

    Speaking of gameplay, it isn't very fun. Missions are, as I said, barebones. If you've ever played a patrol mission in the Destiny series, picture those as every mission, main or side, in the entire game. You have essentially 3 options: Fly to place and kill things, fly to place and defend static area while killing things, or fly to place and kill things while collecting materials they drop. That's literally it. That's every mission in the game. Period.

    And the gameplay itself gets old really quick. The novelty of piloting your Javelin suit evaporates within the first few hours. Turns out being Space Iron Man isn't fun when you have nothing to do. There are only a handful of enemy types in the entire game and only two different heavy miniboss enemies. You'll get very tired of killing the same giant shield-bearers over and over again. Combat also feels disjointed. Unlike other shooter-looters, enemies don't really react to getting shot. You more or less just fire at them until their health meter goes down then they drop dead. Games like Destiny and Warframe may be grindy, but at least they feel good to play. Anthem does not.

    The loot in Anthem is likewise underwhelming. In fact, it feels completely inconsequential. One of the most important things about being a loot-driven game is to make it exciting to get better loot. All "loot" in Anthem looks pretty much the same, from weapons to Javelin parts. Really you're just combing though a post-mission menu equipping the thing with the highest number. There's no variety, excitement, or fun to the loot. In fact, the entire loot system feels like it was tacked on as an afterthought in order to extend player engagement.

    Graphically, Anthem isn't great. The lush jungles look nice at first, but textures were always popping in at a distance and constantly reminding me of the broken nature of this game. I played on an original PS4 so maybe it looked better on a Pro, but I can only judge it based on how I experienced it. Also, that lush jungle is the environment for the entire game. Outside of some caves and ruins, there are no other biomes to speak of.

    I will say that I did have some fun with the heavy Javelin type (Colossus I believe). It was fairly fun to to used my hulking frame to pound enemies into the dirt. I felt powerful and it was reasonably satisfying given the static overall feel of the combat. But that's as far as my enjoyment went.

    Anthem is an early access game that was sold at a premium $60 price. It's an embarrassment to video games, an embarrassment to EA, and and embarrassment to Bioware. Apparently it was in the conception stage for 5 years and only actually worked on for a single year before being dumped out on us in the shape it was in. Not that it's improved much since launch. Bioware literally had to cancel the entire post-launch roadmap because they were unable to fix the game in a timely manner.

    Some people are hoping for a Final Fantasy XIV-style rebirth, but I am not. FFXIV was led by a talented lead designer with a passionate team of of developers. Bioware has no creative direction or drive to fix anything in Anthem and it shows. At the time of this writing, it's been almost two years since launch and nothing has improved. Anthem will likely go down in history as a testament to mismanaged game development, corporate deceit, and the absolute failure of live-service games. And honestly, it deserves to do so.    … Expand

    Anthem is painful. Everything is so slow, so buggy, frame rate is horrible and the gameplay is not fun. Story is horrible, there are no characters and the matchmaking is broken. Dont come closer. Leave this game and never return.

    This is not Bioware game. Where is good old Bioware that gave us KotoR and Mass Effect / Dragon Age and Jade Empire. I think better would be if Ea close them finaly. This Bioware is not the same.

    This game has so much potential! It clearly fell victim to a company that only cares about digging gold out of their users, that’s when I ask myself, how can people be so forgiving with big ones like EA after all their **** politics, and so critical with indie developers.

    Uma verdadeira porcaria. Joguei no lançamento, 3 dias depois de zerar desinstalei e nunca mais coloquei a mão nessa piada de jogo.

    As missões são repetitivas e cansativas, os loadings absurdos e os inimigos são mal desenvolvidos. Sobre a trilha sonora: tão esquecível que não lembro nada.

I had such high hopes for a bioware game that had been in development for 6+ years and it looked amazing as a concept.     Bioware gave me the best games in my life. Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate, SWTOR, Dragon Age.

    But f..k Anthem is the biggest let down for me in a long time. The story missions end in 2 days of game play. The rest is unnecessary.

The game was is insanely big and empty just like metal gear solid tpp. Great graphics with empty world, bad sound fx(even with good headphones still the sound crashing), bad story, bad visuals even with one more player (the explosions made me almost epileptic), very bad AI, crappie design of the enemies, boring gamplay. The story is convoluted in that once a part of the story is done, it snaps right into another part without a smooth transition. Another part of Anthem’s legacy is its bugs. Even 1 year after it’s released, it still has server errors that sometimes makes it impossible to get into the game.     The gameplay is enjoyable, it’s definitely fun and pretty to look at. Sadly I (and many others) struggle to even log in due to the ‘Error retrieving Anthem Live data’ at the log in. I’ve spent 4 hours playing the game initially and probably equal that again, if not more trying to log in again after I’d closed it. Still not managed yet...

    This all gets tiresome quickly.

    Yes - flying in a robotic suit, firing missiles, hitting combos; and shooting machine guns is fun.. but there is no real depth here.

    There is little incentive to play at higher difficult levels other than for thechallenge. In other looter shooters you are rewarded by the increased chance of better gear or loot; that isn’t the case here.

    The game is also disjointed. The menu layout is unintuitive, there are long load times, you have to return to Fort Tarsis (your base of operation) far too frequently, you cant swap equipment in-mission, sound stops and starts in big firefights, the javelin controls are a bit peculiar (there is no ascent option, you have to move forwards if you want to fly up; thus prepare to hit a lot of walls). I could go on. Basically, all of these frustrations pull you out of what could have been a good game.. if there was any game there to have. This is just a lot of interesting sci-fi shooter ideas, poorly executed.

    There are some bizarre design choices. Fort Tarsis (your base of operation) is purely singleplayer. You have to actively travel to (load) a separate social area to engage with other players. Why not integrate the two ala Destiny?

    Customisation is good, and there are a number of components, weapons, grenades etc.. which shows potential for customising a build. However, you are still effectively pigeon holed into a specific part of the class spectrum (Rogue: Interceptor, Mage: Storm, Tank: Gladiator, Generalist: Ranger).

    All in all - this feels more like a demo than a fully fleshed out game. The fact that this was released at full price is shocking.

    I give this game a 4 because it can be entertaining (and I only paid £5 for it), but it needs a complete re-work.    … Expand

    За полную стоимость и даже на распродаже брать не стоит, а вот за 300 рублей купить EA Access и пройти с другом или несколькими вполне себе. 300 рублей это стоит, больше нет.    … Expand

This is NOT an RPG. Your choices don't matter. This is a mediocre looter/shooter. Every quest is go here and kill bad guys or go here, collect these 6 things while killing bad guys.     Bought this game June 2019, I played through the whole campaign and all of the strongholds. Missions all feel largely the same and uncreative. Graphics are decent but not mind blowing even on xbox one x. I would say that the game crashed back to the opening screen approximately 50% of the time after mission end leading to even longer load times to get back in than they already are. The character voice acting is good but it's hard to care about any of it and the choices made in the conversations do not seem to greatly impact anything. It is unclear what the motivation is to continue playing this after the credits role. It was a chore just to get that far.… Expand

    Currently I’d recommend to spend your money for one of the many other coop shooter.

    First of all, I was about to just skip Anthem, because of the bad critics. However, a friend came up with the idea to play it as squad of 4, team of friends. We played other looter shooter or coop games in general in our 4 men static party. So we bought Anthem for 20 Bucks on PS4. So we were about “just let’s have some fun.”.
    And we tried to have it, but the point is that the game is still not finished, it is full of bugs and unstable. There was nearly no session where not one of us had a game crash or stuck in loading screen. Sometimes one of us was not able to join the squad. It happens several times that the “connection to server was lost” during some kind of boss fight. Funny thing, it happened 3 times at the same boss.
    We don’t care for the story, looter shooter… the game tries to tell an epic story, but it isn’t at all. It is annoying to run from npc to npc in town just to get ready for the next mission. They should replace the town for a text-based menu.
    Menu, next point. I don’t like the menu in this game. It is too bulky, slow, never had issues with menus in games, but this is just annoying.

Its an incomplete game, bad combat mechanics and SEVERAL bugs, the frame is terrible and the story is lame. Onlne is useless. They really shoud've used more of the flying.

I even played through Andromeda twice and that was trash!     After seeing Anthem presented at E3, I was sold. Bought the digital version. Played three missions without excitement and noticed that I had encountered a situation where suddenly I couldn't carry on with storyline. Well I decided to end my storyline with Anthem and deleted the game. First time I even would want a refund of this gaming experience. So many expectations and promises not fulfilled.

Dropped better weapons that allowed me to take on more powerful enemies. After a while everything became routine, every mission is essentially the same.     I spent months playing Warframe, which is just as grindy, but it offered so many different things to aim for that it kept me hooked. Here you'll probably have fun during the campaign, especially if you play with friends, but after that there is literally nothing. The missions are always the same, and more powerful enemies are simply the same enemies with higher stats. I didn't last one month.    … Expand

Defended this game early on, but the constant disconnection from the servers, 'error loading pilot data', losing good loot that to begin with is so hard to get (1 legendary in like 5 hrs), and failure to dlever on content they promised has just done it for me..     before i begin i totally see myself might re-reviewing ths game again in the future. this game deserves a 6/10 at its current state (launch)! it has a lot of issues to be fixed the game is a total mess ive even had to open youtube after a cutscene cuz in the middle of the cutscene the game has stuck and then "disconnected from the EA servers" how lame ! but other than that the game isbefore i begin i totally see myself might re-reviewing ths game again in the future. this game deserves a 6/10 at its current state (launch)! it has a lot of issues to be fixed the game is a total mess ive even had to open youtube after a cutscene cuz in the middle of the cutscene the game has stuck and then "disconnected from the EA servers" how lame ! but other than that the game is definitely not polished i have to mention the fact that EA should STOP using the frostbite engine for everything they own! frostbite is not made for games such as ME, Anthem or any bioware game at all !!!! i see a ton of issues that im sure the developers would've done amazing things if not that FPS engine ( not that im complaining the game is outstandingly beautiful but its not designed for these kinda games!) !!! anyhow im still going to play this game a lot the combat is addictive and amazing ! the customization is superb ! and the expedition is beautiful. but the story in this game is so basic and we didnt get much from the interesting stuff, i also heard bioware had to cut a ton of content because the publishers told them to and thats just awful! and all of the characters arent that interesting or memorable even though i really tried to like the characters but it didnt work ! and not to mention that the people in the world are just unreadable or matching the whole world like why is fort tarsis a middle eastern look with british/ american/ russian citizens ??? i dont get the whole concept with the all HUB area doesnt add up, at least tell us in the story how the world of anthem goes... anyhow lets get to a conclusion i still enjoy playing this game ! im totaly going to spend more time with it and would definitely be happy to see new content in the future i love all the javelins they are all fun and very balanced (my fav is the storm and ranger these 2 are so fun for me but i havent tried the colossus and interceptor yet even though i have all the javelins rn but ill get to them within progress haha) and they way you customize the javelins is so fun and unique ! and the gameplay is super fun ! for real the whole flying thing with the javelins makes D2 feel like a baby with those sparrows(but dont take me wrong i gave D1&D2 a 9/10 i have been playing these games for a long period and same with warframe which i gave a 10/10 and also warframe has jetpacks) and just because the flying and gameplay and combat in anthem is so fun this makes me want to play it more !!! and the whole loot system, yeah this game has recycled loot only with different ranks and all of them look pretty much the same... anyhow this game couldve been a whole lot better if bioware would have not used the frostbite engine and showed a middle finger at EA and used their own engine ! i really love bioware i have been playing their games for many years of my life ! and i am tired of AAA publishers always trying to make T rated games so kids could use their parents credit card for microtransactions and these T rated games are so effortless (battleroyal and fifa for example) if they want to succeed they should open their minds and make more M rated games with no rubbish monetization schemes and ways to nickle and dime people in the most greedy way as possible and i know that the bioware team is super talented in making awesome games ! but at least from now on im not going to buy and EA game for full price or wont buy an EA game in general that publisher used to be an awesome competitor to activision but now EA is on the list of my stay away titles together with ubisoft, bethesda, and of-course activision! i really wanted to love this game and i know bioware can do a fantastic job i know they could ! but the past EA entries i just seem to give up on them and will probably keep my doubts for the nex titanfall even ! anyhow i hope EA and bioware will learn from this and i really am looking for more content in the future for anthem :)! 6/10

    UPDATE: had to downgrade the score and give it a 2/10 the game just got worse! i feel like bioware is shooting themselves in the foot! i really love bioware but todays bioware is just a disaster! i wish i could love this game but i just cant anymore ! it crashes my ps4 everytime i play it ! there is absolutely nothing to do in the game after you finish the campaign, and the game itself is buggy AF!!!! its so buggy the game itself is a huge bug!!! anyhow im out of space here but please do your self a favor and stay away from this game ! PLAY WARFRAME !! trust me you wont regret it its more polished and its free and the microtransactions are worth it (you dont have to even buy microtransactions in warframe you can just grind the game doesnt force you to pay, anthem indeed does force you to pay more than what you already bought plus anthem is way more trash than warframe !) anyhow dont spend your time and money on anthem go to warframe!    … Expand

This tells me that the game has some great potential, and yeah, I'm not happy that i purchased an unfinished game for full price, but it's good enough for me to stick with it. Everyone is down the developers throats and rightfully so but i believe that EA is really to blame. BioWare has been making games that cater to their audience. There are some dedicated BioWare fans out there that will live and die by their games and for good reason. As long as I've been gaming i have come to realize first and foremost that EA does not like to compete. NBA Live pretty much disappeared for YEARS because 2K was just a better game and had the basketball audience captivated. They've since then released new games and they're still not as good and they don't seem eager to compete at all. Remember Medal of Honor. In concept it was a great game and my friends and I loved it but because of a ton of bugs EA gave up on it and it was never spoken about again. I'm pretty sure the Battlefield team ran out of new innovative ideas thus after Battlefield 4 they went back in history as to not compete with Call of Duty's more modern games. EA owes us our $60 back for selling us a "complete game" that was clearly still in Alpha phase. All just to beat Division 2, which in change i think they actually booted Division 2's sales because how horrible Anthem was. I gave this game a 1 because the flying was actually really cool. Outside of that, the game gave me nothing to come back for. Loot was sparse, enemies were all the same, the weapons were just about all the same, when i did get loot it was almost the same thing, the missions were literally all exactly the same. At least have the enemies spawn from different points. The load screens were absolutely horrible. I haven't waited that long for anything to load since trying to watch porn on dial up internet when i was a kid. What actually made this game the absolute worst was the fact that your console was literally in danger for trying to run it. This game bricked my system for a day. I thought it would not turn back on and Sony will not do anything for you because in all reality it's not their fault. Its 100% on the game devs that it bricks your system. EA and BioWare need to come together and scrap this and give everyone their money back or take their time and make Anthem 2 as a free to play phenomenon.… Expand

    Gra strasznie zawiodła. Mamy miesiąc od premiery, a tytuł nadal jest w fazie beta. Każdy pacz zamiast naprawiać to psuje grę. Łatwiej będzie powiedzieć co jest fajne: grafika, latanie i po części strzelanie cała reszta to istna masakra. Widać, że gra od podstaw została źle zaprojektowana.

    The game:

    - Can't even be played at most times due to server instability issues
    - Forces you to hit a loading screen for practically everything you want to do
    - There are still constant Pilot Error Data bugs which prevent you from even getting into the one single instanced town in the game (where you start from on login)
    - The combat is a joke since combat is based on scaling (ie a lvl1 player joining their friend will do more DPS with a lvl1 gun than someone with a full MasterWork loadout)
    - Is horribly designed from the ground up
    - Lacks any true end-game and BioWare's 90-day Games As Service model puts the first event a full 3 months after launch which effectively kills the game in terms of the majority of players
    - Is a looter shooter..... WITH NO LOOT. The Devs refuse to make the loot rain despite receiving a THOROUGH post by Diablo 3's director who revamped D3's loot with 2.0
    - The crafting system is now unusable since the harvest nodes you farm to get crafting material with were nerfed into oblivion and harvesting is now a waste of time

    I could go on and on about how terrible this game is, but the gist is that Anthem is a buggy mess that has far too many issues connecting to it's own servers for even a single-player instanced walk around Tarsis.

    Do NOT spend your money on Anthem. And I HIGHLY recommend not buying any more BioWare or EA games ever again unless you want to be looked at as a cash cow meant to be strung along to pay for low-effort DLC, loot boxes, and low-effort cosmetics that aren't even what the players want.    … Expand

    I am only about 8 hours and am really enjoying my time so far, I have heard that the missions and enemy types can get repetitive and I believe that will happen for me, I paid £50 for the game, ill probably put 30 hours into it as a minimum, money well spent in my eyes

    Visually stunning and goodgame play. Drastically let down by constant disconnections, poor load times and multiplayer glitches. Ea likes to pour on the new content but seems to ignore the main issues with the game. Fix the errors and it might turn out great!

    Oh look another flop with EAs filthy handmarks all over it. Once Bioware started trying to clone other games beginning with their SWTOR Warcraft rip-off, they were done as a serious developer. Hopefully this is the final nail in their coffin.

    There’s an intriguing game buried somewhere in Anthem, lying broken beneath its loot and structural frustrations like chunks of fossilised dinosaur bone.

    Even if I ignore all the bugs, glitches and disconnects I had, Anthem is still, by and large, a mediocre game. The lackluster story, loot system and gameplay make this game one to pass on. At least in its current state.
