11 bit studios continues to prove that a little innovation can go a long way. Anomaly 2 capitalizes on what made its predecessor so great by improving on an already unique take on the genre, adding great visuals, and a cleverly crafted competitive multiplayer that tower defense fans will surely enjoy.

This is a competent PlayStation 4 port for a very good game.

The charm of tower defence games can be limited, but Anomaly 2 steps beyond this threshold to not only give devoted followers something fresh, but also provides those curious about the genre an entry point that will undoubtedly entertain anyone’s fancy for a spell.

It may not convert those who avoid the tower defense genre at all costs, but it does prove that a few small but important tweaks can change one's perception in a big way.

If you liked the first episode you'll like this one, especially thanks to its new multiplayer mode. We miss a wider variety of situations, but in general terms it's well designed and engaging.

Anomaly 2 takes the tower defense model, flips it, adds some bells and whistles and makes one hell of a fun time out of it. While not having the most extensive story and somewhat repetitive gameplay, Anomaly 2 makes up for it by throwing in enough in game variations to keep you interested as well as having quite challenging difficulty curves to keep you coming back.

For $15, hardcore strategy fans should take a look at Anomaly 2, but be warned, it can get messy in there and when it does, you’re going to need a cool head if you want to survive.

Anomaly 2 is an exciting proposal in the tower defense genre.

Anomaly 2's singleplayer portion is basically identical to the first game, so if that was your jam, then by all means, go weapons free. If it wasn't your jam, then maybe the multiplayer will keep you interested.

An interestingly designed take on the tower defence genre.

Anomaly 2 preserves the unique twist its predecessor brought to the tower defense genre but does little to expand on what came before it.

Anomaly 2 builds off the first Anomaly with some fresh, new ideas, and is an intelligent, strategic game with plenty of replayability value. It is not perfect by any means, but for the price ($14.99), it is a pretty fun game.

An enjoyable single player tower offense game that unfortunately suffers from a barren and empty online multiplayer.

As much as I enjoyed Anomaly 2, I have a very hard time recommending the console version to anyone. Even this non-PC gamer thinks I would have had a far better time with a keyboard and mouse.

Without a strong multiplayer community behind it though, I would say skip the PS4 release and head straight for PC if you have the means.

Too much flashy, shaky, distorted camera. Pain for the eyes.
As to the concept, it's much worse than the original series.
