They were bad on last-gen consoles, but on the PlayStation 4, their array of faults are all the more unforgivable. You might be getting two games for the price of one, but in this instance, that’s not necessarily a good thing.

To start this review off, (it should be known that the save and auto-save features for both games in this pack do not work. It's not a install error either, after playing many hours and going back into the game to discover it took me back to the tutorial as though I had never touched the game, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. There was no change, indeed the game hasn't even seen any updates, they merely released this game and never looked back. I thought perhaps it went back to the age-old save on your own in the pause menu. Nothing. Unless you leave on your console, and hope nothing happens while it's on, for however long it takes you to beat these games you will never finish it. Suddenly it makes total sense as to how each of the PS4 trophies had an average of 4%, the campaign completion had around 10%.) Also, if you think the pre-set button configs are bad? Too bad there is absolutely no way to change these. Better learn it.

Gameplay is okay but repetitive, the AI literally does nothing. They will pretend to shoot their guns but I guarantee you can fly around all day on a scenic trip and the AI won't take down one enemy. All you do is drop your bombs on the target and switch to another plane. The only way to play is on Ace difficulity if you want to avoid hand-holding and actually want to make it like an Ace Combat game. But if you put it into Realistic controls, there is nothing realistic, you feel like you're flying a slippery boat. Your plane will end up flying sideways. I actually was turning and got shot and the physics was so overcompensating that I went into a completely uncontrolled barrel-roll as though I was suddenly being tossed around in a dryer and plummeted into the ground. But fear-not I simply bounced off the ground with minor damage done! For most of the planes that are available to use in the campaign, you can't use in instant action.

If you want a similar game that is way better in every way, I recommend you get Battlestations Midway or Pacific.
