    Many may not like indie games, but the reality is that Aggelos manages to win the heart of any player, especially those who have played this type of title before. In short, it is a very good game that has managed to go from being a simple job of a professional game fan in which it is worth spending a couple of hours to spend it. If you are looking for a game to hang out, short and fun, this is certainly an excellent option on PS4.

    Aggelos is executed with the bright-eyed innocence of someone who loves Wonder Boy and Metroidvania. While it does little to innovate, it succeeds in providing a well-crafted, intricate world that leaves you with a lasting sense of discovery.

    This game was a refreshing change from the graphical behemoths that dominate the mainstream consoles these days. Here's a breakdown.This game was a refreshing change from the graphical behemoths that dominate the mainstream consoles these days. Here's a breakdown.

    Graphics:

    What you see on the cover is what you get. The graphics are rather simplistic, harking back to gaming of the 80s and 90s. This is far from a bad thing, Not only are the graphics charming and sentimental, they also perform really well. Enemies and characters still achieve uniqueness and aren't just colour palette swaps. Another upside of this is that the game is super small in your hard-drive (about 100MB!).

    Story:

    It's basically rescue the princess, slay the bad guy and save the kingdom. Your interactions with characters will be simplistic and performative, however this again is not a bad thing. You don't need to become engrossed in a deep story for it to be a good game.

    Gameplay:

    This is where it gets more testing. The gameplay itself is incredibly smooth. You start off with basic controls and skills before gradually picking up new abilities. The downfall for me is that the game can become more complex as you gather the four elements and have various abilities, however the game does a good job of introducing this slowly. My other concern is that progressing through the game can become convoluted, especially without a walkthrough. You have to go to point C to get object B, which you then take to point A to trade for object A which you then take to point B before being allowed past point C. Sound complicated? That was my experience, anyway, and having to use a guide always undermines a game for me, whether it's Aggelos or Bloodborne.

    Conclusion:

    This is still a good and enjoyable game. The convoluted nature can make the latter parts more testing, however this game is designed to appeal to specific audiences. If you're one of them, then definitely get it, as it is an affordable nostalgic experience.    … Expand
