Nov 19, 2019Age of Wonders (PC) veteran ... playing this (or trying to) on console
WAY TOO MANY BUGS
MULTIPLAYER UNPLAYABLE (CRASHES EVERY TWO TURNS)
SINGLE PLAYER CRASHES A LOT
I dunno why but the developer released an expansion before stabilizing the base game. AVOID THIS GAME UNLESS YOU LOVE WASTING MONEY -
Jan 28, 2020This game on PS4 is broken. This includes game crashes, refusing to save, slowing down, things changing colors and flickering off screen, etc. Buyer beware.

Nov 6, 2019Great game. Combination of
- Civilization = the city managements, world map exploration, diplomacy.
- HoMam = Instead of units you move whole armies with unique heroes. And there is a story campaign with branching sotry and dialofues.
- New Xcom = Each battle can be played in a very similar way to the Xcom missions.
The result is very fun and addictive game. -
Oct 4, 2019Sheer perfection, after you overcome the learning curve. Music is great, scenarios and characters are interesting, playing with different races is a blast and conquering planets is fun, but gameplay can seem quite complex at first. Takes some time to get used to it, but after you do you'll have tons of fun.

Oct 20, 2019A rare gem on console. Beautiful and near-perfect turn-based 4X strategy experience in scenarios and multiplayer.
Single player campaign did not really captivate me, so this may account for the negative user scores.
Bit of a learning curve even for a strategy gamer, but worth it. Can be played in multiplayer without PS subscription. -
Feb 12, 2020Excelently done 4x strategy on a ps4, combining all the features of Civilization,X-Com and HOMM, but in another vision.Well done.A great-made game for old-school players!

Feb 14, 2020I really love this game, and I like the idea of playing strategy games on the couch. It's a remix of various popular 4X games that works really well and keeps you playing. I'd highly recommend getting the PC version though as even the PS4 Pro is woefully underpowered to play this game. Late game turns end up taking in excess of 90 seconds to complete. A decent PC does not have this issue.

Dec 9, 2019Despite a collection of minor technical issues, Age of Wonders: Planetfall is one of the best strategy games on any platform this year, console or otherwise, and weaves a compelling tapestry of play within every layer of its design, including tactical battles that are so good, they almost seem out of place in 4X. It may not entirely escape the colonialist trappings of its genre, but it manages to sneak in a thoughtful twist or two as it indulges in a delightfully weird sci-fi reverie.

Aug 16, 2019Alas, if you’re coming to Age of Wonders: Planetfall for a brand new angle on games you’ve played before, then you’ve come to the wrong place. It’s novel to see several different recognizable mechanics blended into one genre soup. The final product isn’t better than the sum of its parts, though. It makes the 4X a faster game to play, but not a better one, ultimately.

Aug 16, 2019A few minor flaws can't ruin this truly great game. Almost everything in Age of Wonders: Planetfall has been done perfectly. The futuristic world turned out great, the satirical atmosphere is refreshing, and the combination of the best parts of Civilization and XCOM resulted in such an addictive game that the developers should warn about it beforehand.
