It's a fun homage to old school brawlers but it's still full of old school brawler bullcrap tactics. Enemies will instantly grab you, have massive invulnerability frames on their attacks and super armor along with perfect tracking of your character making dodging an attack an impossibility.

For a Brazilian who understand the content and the history of the characters is a pretty good experience to have this game around. Should be hard to understand the content if you're not included in this situation I mentioned. The game play is pretty nice and smooth. Music, old school bit em ups references are there. I think this game is fair enough to spend some money and time to play. On the other hand, if you want to have this experience from nostalgic bit em ups, go for it. It worth, for sure! Expand

I can't get over just how easy and frustrating it is to be constantly knocked around by the enemies without having anytime to get back up before being knocked down again.

Generic Beat-em-up that gets a HUGE difficulty spike in Stage 6. So BEWARE before stepping into Stage 6 and have loads of lives.
The game itself is okay, could’ve been better.

Expand

-99 VIDAS-, is an old-fashioned Beat-em-up in the style of the classic Double Dragon or Final Fight series. Its a good button smasher game. But its short Also i deleted it because i was in Stage 6,beat some enemies, and when i hit pause the screen fades to black and it plays only the music, forcing me to restart the game over.It happened twice and when the second time it happened i deleted the game because of thos glitch.

99Vidas appeals to a very specific market and manages to accurately recreate the scrolling beat ‘em ups of yesteryear, both positive and negative. If you have fond memories of these kinds of games this will fill a space for you, but wont necessarily leave you satisfied. I really like the games style and overall sense of fun, but in aping the games of the past it has failed to offer an enjoyable modern experience.

It’s a retro beat-em-up — nothing more, nothing less. If you’re not into those, this won’t be of interest to you, but if that’s something that’s been missing from your life all these years, then by all means check it out.

If Double Dragon, Final Fight, Streets of Rage or Golden Axe were your go-to coin-ops on childhood trips to the arcade, 99Vidas might well resurface some fond, pre-millennium memories. But alas, nostalgia only gets a game so far, and once the thrill-ride is over, there’s very little reason to return for a second playthrough.
