There's potential here for a much greater game than advertised. However, it's lost behind a lot of issues; namely the fact the game is just not finished. It's like a functional alpha build you would field to game testers rather than something you could actually feel good about selling. My best advice is to ignore it for a year and come back with a few friends to give it a go.

Lots of good ideas and interesting features but is poorly implimented and is possibly the worst game in terms of performance that I have ever played. The constant glitches and frame rate drops completely ruin the experience. Avoid at all costs

I don't normally write reviews but felt compelled after I very nearly didn't buy this game due to all the haters. It is like a combination of The Forest, Stranded Deep, COD Zombies, Stronghold and Minecraft.

Everthing in the world can be interacted with, destroyed, scavenged, built, you start with nothing but have the ability to build whatever you wish. The game has tons of variety, you can grow numerous types of crops, go hunting animals for food/hides, cook dozens of differing food/drink types, craft a huge array of tools, weapons, clothing, building materials, medicines, etc all with varying associated stats.

If this wasn't enough to keep you busy, you are also under constant threat from zombies, including the defense testing 7 day hordes that will give you a real sense of purpose to ensure you keep pushing forward with building your base and you will be in big trouble if it is not up to the task of keeping you alive.

The skill/perk system is excellent, the resource gathering is actually enjoyable unlike in so many other games when it feels more like a chore, the crafting mechanic (played many games where this can also be poor) is really intuative and well thought out.

The latest patch has ironed out most of the bugs mentioned by others (although I had not experienced any bugs apart from occasional clipping of zombies or a rabbit stuck in a tree).

In summary, I have been playing games for over 20 years and some of the best games I've played don't have amazing graphics, 7D2D graphics aren't amazing but they are not certainly not as bad as some people are making out and are way way WAY better that Minecraft which is a game most have a lot of love for..

The ability to play co-op split screen and online multiplayer is amazing and just enhances the whole experience and for me and is the icing on the cake. This is a fantastic game and I reiterate that I am so glad I did not listen to all the haters. If you like the type of game play I have mentioned then this IS the game for you!!

That said, i found myself playing it for dozens of hours during the first week (more time than i actualy have available) just because there is nothing like this on consoles. The concept is simply amazing and mostly well executed! Think about Minecraft with deep survival mechanics. You need to eat, drink, keep your temperature at 'normal' levels, avoid infections and deseases, etc, and for that there are thousands of objects you can collect in the world, for both, consuming and crafting. There are side missions, treasures to be found, etc, but at the end, you main objective is to find or create a shelter to spent the next night, and survive another day.

I found myself caring about my character's health, being scared with the night fall and curious about the loot i could find in this or that building. Genuine feelings very few games are able to cast.

The multiplayer is also very cool. You can play the entire game in split screen with a friend, which makes everything even more fun.

The game is hard, even in easiest difficulties, but there are lots of settings to change in the game menu, from the agrecivity of zombies, to the duration of the in game day.

All in all, it's not a game for everyone, but if you like deep survival games, exploring alot, and the ability to create and craft your own world, this is the game for you and one of a kind.

It is a really big world and me and my friends can't play all at the same time (We are 12 people) which is a huge downside for all of us.

I really hope that the developer will work on this and make a "Dedicated Server" which will ensure the game's stability in the big big world of Play Station.

All in all we still enjoy the game and we are waiting if the developers will work in these issues.

7 Days to Die can be fun, especially with friends, but ultimately is just another hard to look at survival game that is hindered by awful visuals, clunky controls and bugs. Bugs, everywhere. *Ahem...*
    Moving on!

    Pros:
+ A lot of crafting options.
+ A well thought-out (albeit slow) progression system.

    Cons:
    - Buggy.
    - Until you have very good melee weapons, close range combat is not an option (you get hit from farther than you can hit).
    - Limited to four players.
    - With so few players, PvP is not really an option.
    - Graphically looks like a PlayStation 1 game.
    - Food and water degrade rather quickly, effectively preventing you from building unless you carry 3 meals a day worth of food and water on you. Just because food is a scarcity due to the whole, ya' know, end-of-the-world thing, doesn't mean you should stop eating like nothing happened!
    - Heat seems to be broken, you constantly overheat in some worlds. The only solution? A cowboy hat and bandana, while underwater with no other clothes on, because realism.

In short, if you have no sense of the value of money, three friends, love PS1 visuals on a PS4 console, and find it entertaining to survive as long as you can as a naked cowboy in the buggy wilderness, go for it. It's an alpha that isn't advertised as such on console. It's definitely not a next-gen game, and it's definitely not finished. It's not worth buying in it's current state.

I feel I was a little too hard on this game at first. After having some more time with the game, and playing splitscreen with a friend, I can definitely tell it has potential. If the devs can iron out the bugs, and get the game running at 60 fps (I feel this game needs to be running at 60 frames, given it requires some pretty precise aiming), it will be an amazing game.

It's a perfect mixture of survival, crafting, Role-playing. After she went to sleep, I continued to play (against my better judgement) online. Multiplayer is super fun! I have wanted something like this on console for years! The character level up system is unique and complex. Scavenging with friends gives that great apocalyptic survival feel and crafting is endless. You can literally set up your base ANYWHERE in the main map or in the randomly generated worlds the game creates for you. Highly recommend to any lovers of a crafting/survival/building/FPS genre style game.

Note: The games release version is Alpha 14 and this game is not early access it came out in 2013.

Now onto my experiences with this game: For starters the game is fun whenever it decides not to crash or freeze up on you which it crashes all the time. I've have lost 9 worlds since its release most of them will not load and will just crash the game when you do try. If you die in-game there's a high chance you'll get a blank screen with sounds, that means in bold terms that world is gone because you can't do anything but close the game down and when you try loading that world it'll just crash.

Playing with friends is extremely fun but once again their world can crash and 50/50 chance when you try to join your friend you'll get an infinite loading screen and can hear all in-game sounds but you can't do anything except close the game down.

Finally the overheating system in the game is completely illogical and ruins the fun. If you don't want to overheat you pretty much run naked with a bandanna, sunglasses, and cowboy hat.

Don't use Clint or Miguel as your character as they have a huge chance to crash your game when loading save.

This game can be fun but I would save your money till the end of the year once all the problems are fixed.

I haven't written a review for a game in a long time, but after checking the reviews for this game to see how the community was reacting to a game I played many hours on PC, I had to do something in order to fight the injustices.

This game is in alpha, so from the word go you should expect there to be problems, bugs, crashes, and yes, even faulty gameplay mechanics. This isn't a 60 dollar game, but it very well could be one day. That having been said, I love the mechanics of the game. I've played plenty of Minecraft and could survive with my eyes closed. No challenge. This game offers a customizable amount of challenge that i can tailor to my play style, so if i don't want to go around scavenging all the time, I can increase scavenging output two fold and focus more on surviving off the land. Surviving off the land like you would in Minecraft is Difficult, down right challenging. In fact, it is nigh impossible to do so without scavenging some of the essentials, first. In the first day or two you will have to fight to survive, there is no sprinting into second and third tier gear on this game. It takes knowledge, ingenuity, and sometimes plain ol' luck.

Hunting is difficult because you can hunt all the wild life out of an area, forcing your hand to either grow crops or move on to different hunting grounds. This game promotes a nomadic life, moving from one large swath of land to the next; that's why the map is tremendous. You will never travel from one end of the map to the other. So before you go judging this game for being "slow" or "too difficult", realize the vastness and complexity of this game. Mining is difficult because it can make a huge difference in your survival. Only one zombie can actually climb, so changing the landscape can mean the difference difference between fearing for your life when the horde shows up on the 7th night and relentlessly beats down your walls and overwhelms you, or sitting back drinking beer and reading enforcer magazine while the zombies claw helplessly at the walls while kebabing themselves on your spike traps.

Combat is rewarding and not overly difficult. With proper timing and aim you can make short work of one or two zombies, but a group will have you back pedaling or risk being stunned and mauled. The game utilizes different weapons with status effect chance to offer different styles of play. I find myself switching it up because each type can offer something different for each situation; the knife for sneak attacks to the back of the head, blunt weapons for crowd control, or ranged weapons if i have the ammunition or arrows/bolts to spare. There is room for improvement, such as a block technique that can mitigate some dame or cause the zombie to stagger back, but this IS still in Alpha, so here's hoping they read this up at Fun Pimps.

The graphics are meh; not the sunrise vistas I saw on PC, but still better than retro bit Minecraft. The view distance leaves much to be desired. Ar the moment there is some lagging issues, but nothing that has caused me more than mild discomfort while in the heat of battle. It's pretty consistent lag, but I'm sure as the game releases more updates they will be working on cleaning that up.

I haven't experienced any crashes/freezes/bugs that otherwise prevent me from playing.

The UI feels a little clunky, but for a PC port it could be worse.

I give this game an 9 and not a 10 because of the view distance and the lag. Otherwise this game satisfies my need for a deep survival game that challenges me and most importantly allows me to dig, mine, build, farm crops, hunt wild game AND scavenge.

PS: Nobody paid me to write this review, in fact, I'm missing out on sleep because I couldn't believe the amount of negative feedback from users who clearly didn't realize what they were getting themselves into.

Played initially with my son (local split screen - despite what at least one review says this game is capable of 2 player split screen; you just have to start a single player game and the second person jump in by pressing the options button). Anyway, despite the side by side split screen it was still hilarious to play with the two of us running around.

Single player certainly is easier to navigate the menus as well as the world around you. On my first single player run through though I thought that everything was going pretty smoothly. It isn't until you are set up in your base, thinking you are safe and sound, hidden from the undead as you do a little inventory control during the night when your HUD goes from "undetected" to "hunted" and you suddenly hear a group of zombies start tearing the building you're in apart that the game really shines. It can create some tense moments, but this is tempered by the satisfaction you feel as you strengthen your defenses and come up with strategies to combat the horde.

A perfect 10? No, too much lag, and graphics that really look dated. A 0 game? No, it's certainly not that broken. I definitely see me putting a lot of hours into this game, and certainly worthy of the $30 price tag to me.

I'm adjusting a bit to the controller shortcuts, but they're still not good/intuitive. I think I have the visuals nailed down to some weird lighting or antialasing that makes the tree kind of glowy against the sky. It doesn't look right. And the FOV is too narrow - it's like wearing a hoody in the zombie apocalypse. Not a good idea.

Oh - and have also had multiple save games fail to load again which really sucks after hours of adventuring and building.

But here's what's really keeping the score where it is (and lucky I don't bump it down):

THE LAG! OH DEAR GOD THE LAG! 3 seconds of lag every 10 - 30 seconds of play. Right in the middle of EVERYTHING! It's enough to make a grown man cry and throw his controller at the television. It's goddamn horrible and shameful and makes the game almost unplayable. DID I USE ENOUGH CAPS FUN PIMPS/TELLTALE!!!?? LAAAAAAAAGGGGGG!!!

First impressions are disappointing. I was expecting a next-gen console running a 2+ year-old pre-release game to have an amazing improvement in graphics and play over my middle-class PC. But my expectations were dashed. The game is buggy, appears to be an older version of the current PC release, makes little attempt to console-ize the interface (I now have to sit up against the screen of my 60 inch TV along with my daughter just to see what the tiny icons are), the inventory is a nightmare with no sorting or search, graphics are lower quality than my PC's and with very short draw distances. I could go on. The game needs a console tutorial, crafting especially (how to fly for example). The buttons and interface for placing/building is clunky and keyboard-oriented. Character customization has all sorts of flaws and glitches. Etc. Etc. I would go with, "well they ARE in pre-release." But how many years do you need in pre-release? At the least, it can't be an excuse for this level of disorder.

The pros are a pretty broad set of building blocks and a good crafting system. I'm still waiting for it on PS4, but the game CAN look really good. The world interactions are satisfying (also glitchy though on PS4) and reasonably paced. Weapons selection is decent even if combat leaves much to be desired. Zombies are cool and 7 Days makes really good use of them visually and audibly. There's much to be said for the terror felt while crouching in the dark corner of a basement listening to a horde swarm by outside. That's core zombie game fun.

I expect some quick sprucing up or I alas don't see the many hours that I had hoped would be spent on the console. Which is a shame, because this is a better game on PC, and still has the potential to be great if The Fun Pimps aren't just running out of money or attention span (the two not being mutually exclusive either).

In April earlier this year, it was announced that Telltale games would publish 7 Days to Die and bring it to PS4 and Xbox One. Unfortunately, the game was released with numerous technical issues on console, contributing to low review scores.

In 7 Days to Die, your goal is to survive. Each night will get gradually more difficult as zombies gain in numbers and become more aggressive. On the 7th night, you must survive a wave of the undead headed straight for your defenses. Fortify your base well enough and you will survive to the next week. Rebuild your defenses and repeat with a new horde of zombies spawning every 7 days. Simple right? There's more to it than just that.

Upon starting the game, you're told to craft a few basic items. After that, the tutorial is practically non-existent. The mechanics of the game aren't clearly conveyed so the game can be very overwhelming, especially for those not familiar with the crafting genre. For the first few hours of my playthrough, I had no idea where to start or what I should consider a priority so I just starting picking everything up for 2 hours. The game gives you no story or context and told to have fun in a giant sandbox. I was so lost that I ended up searching online for some sort of direction.

You will spend more time gathering resources and crafting items than you will in enemy combat. Crafting mechanics are akin to those in Minecraft and Fallout: hit everything and get resources to build your base and protect it tower defense style. Craft your weapons, craft your clothes, craft your base, craft everything. This, in turn, makes exploring for resources a huge part of the game. As the game is still in early access, the overall look of the game is really crude. It's not by any means a "pretty" game. Limited textures and landmarks make exploring unimaginative and repetitive. With poor animations, weak combat, and no clear objectives to follow, exploring is also difficult.

The game features a simple day/night cycle. During the day you get slow enemies and zombies that aren't much of a threat, and at night, you get faster, more aggressive zombies that actively seek you out. In addition, you must also be mindful of environmental threats as you explore. These include your core body temperature, hunger, or if you are carrying items that emit certain smells that attract the undead among other things. To combat these threats, 7 Days to Die has a very involved skill system with bonus perks. These skills affect everything from scavenging, character and weapon speed, to the use and modification of weapons. Points are assigned to the skills of your choice with points obtained at leveling. Of course, you need to look everything up to make sense of the system.

7 Days to Die offers 3 different modes to choose from. In Single Player, your goal is to survive for as long as you can without aid from other players. One of the game's saving graces is the ability to play couch co-op with a friend and team up to survive together. In this mode, outside players may attack and steal from you, making for a competitive playthrough. This is where the most fun you will have with the game takes place. Lastly, there is a Creative mode, for players that wish to explore and experiment without anything trying to murder them while they build their castles in the barren wasteland in peace.

Despite the low scores that 7 Days to Die has been receiving, the game is fun and even more so with friends. Now that the game has had a few updates and many bugs patched, its easier to see the game for what it is. 7 Days to Die is the idea that sounds good in theory but ends up buckling under its weight in practice. Unfortunately, the game suffers from a sort of identity crisis. I play this game and I see emulations of Skyrim, Fallout, Minecraft, Dead Island, and Don't Starve rolled into one bogged-down game without tutorials.

With a number of bugs still waiting to be patched, and a control scheme that was clearly not designed with console controllers in mind; 7 Days to Die is far from the game it could be. Is it worth the $30? Fans of crafting games and those looking for a challenging couch co-op game may say yes. Updates continue to be released to further stabilize gameplay and with new content being added periodically; it will be interesting to see where this game goes as it has already come a long way since 2013. For now, I would still wait for a few updates to release if you're planning to pick it up on the PS4.

The Bad: Hit boxes seem weird at times, zombie sounds are repetitive, hit a zombie to the ground they glitch slide forward, sounds are missing from the game at times, maybe like ten zombie varients (I was attacked by a group of 5 of the same zombies. All bald wearing a white tee shirt), render distance is limited, very very repetitive zones in random gen if you've seen it once you've seen the all, the player body temperature management gets very annoying at times (even when you fully understand it)

The Ugly: Horrible frame rates you'll freeze up every minute or so, split screens frame rates are much worse, bugs everywhere not game breaking but frustrating, multiplayer is spotty at best.

I honestly wanted to like this game and was really looking forward to it. I understand it just came out and it will have its issues. The frame rate issues just made me give up trying to play it. I bought it for couch co op. And I also read about people saying "it's in alpha". NO WHERE ON THE PACKAGE, DISC, OR DESCRIPTION DID IT SAY "ALPhA"

I'm reviewing this game in its current state and hopefully Telltale, Iron Galaxy, and The Fun Pumps fix it. Avoid this game at the moment. Wait and do your research on patches and updates before you buy.

The menus were made for PC so the menus are awful on console. The controls are made for PC so again, awful. The zombies, bears, and other enemies in the game will destroy you and you can hit them 20+ times but they won't die. Other players don't appear on your map and every time you spawn you spawn in a random area so finding your team mates is very stressful especially due to the awful movement speed. The graphics are of course awful but that's not really important. It's just worth noting. I mean this game is just bad and people shouldn't waste their money on it. Wait for a sale if you're super interested but I wouldn't even pick it up then. I suggest Minecraft over this but I'm sure most people already have that. This mesh between the games RPG progression system in combination with its crafting mechanics makes for an interesting experience. However, the game suffers from tremendous performance issues that spoil the core experience of this game. The game will freeze periodically for approximately 5-10 second intervals every 10 or so minutes of playing (Possibly a bug associated with the games autosave system). In terms of gameplay clunky best fits the description of how it feels to play this game. Walking speed is obnoxiously slow for a game that requires this amount of exploration. To give context the standard walking speed feels roughly the same as being over-encumbered in Skyrim. Running will be your main source of transportation which thankfully can be upgraded through the games Oblivion Esq skill system to run longer while using less stamina. Combat itself is janky and will pull you out of the games experience. Enemies will take a while to actually go down with blunt weapons. It is also worthy to note that there is no sound effect to swinging your weapon which makes the entire experience feel cheap. Most encounters will consist of standing in place hoping you stun the zombie before it stuns you. The games combat lacks the impact and stability needed to keep the player hooked. The graphics are notably fine considering the scope of the game although the games field of vision is beyond inexcusable. The split screen option, as well as the online matchmaking system, adds longevity to the games lifespan. On Launch Day this game is not worth the $30 asking price, I'd suggest waiting for eventual updates that address some of the issues mentioned above before purchasing yet another day 1 launch mess. Feels like 7 years to die
7 Days to die is a Minecraft style survival horror game,
as you use tools, craft items and slay zombies your skills and character levels up making your survival chances in this survival horror game even that much greater...
But unfortunately 7 Days to die puts more emphasis on survival than it does the horror, or the game…
This game moves at the pace of a slug…
What makes Minecraft so great is that while it is also a survival game about crafting and surviving from random attacks... it moves at a fairly quick pace…
You can build a shovel and dig a temporary shelter with sufficient lighting before the sun falls on your initial spawn…
Minecraft also makes essentials like a forge or torches very accessible from the jump….
7 Days to die goes against all of this…
For starters... This is no Minecraft other than the basic idea of gather materials, craft with those materials, and try not to die while you do this...
But building, crafting, combat, and scavenging all suffer due to the pacing this game has…
You collect items and build at a crawl…
you can definitely make a shovel, and axe fairly quickly as there are basic crafting materials like rocks and trees everywhere…
but once you go to dig a shelter you’ll quickly realize building in this world is going to be a chore..
You can’t swiftly build an underground shelter to revisit after a day of hunting and looking for supplies to slowly build a thriving chunk of land…
It’s going to take days upon days... youre better off finding a cabin around essential recourses and rebuilding…
Which honestly takes away the joy of owning the procedurally generated or hand crafted land you spawn into…
There’s no fun in upgrading something already built…
but thanks to how long it takes to destroy a block of dirt even with the hardness level turned down... you have no other choice….
You can of course make a building out of wood, as wood collecting is fairly easy… but with how often your tools will break, wood is a valuable recourse that you might as well collect to again just rebuild an already built home…
the hunger and thirst system in this game also hinders creativity as you never feel like you have time to really do anything other than find drinks and food…
During my time playing I found a corn field behind a cabin for food…
But I had no water source….
To make drinks I needed glass jars that I for the life of me couldn’t find…
luckily these glass jars can be crafted!
But to do that I needed to craft a forge...
    A basic essential…
But the crafting materials for this forge isn’t so basic…
I needed to go hunt animals…
While my character is dying of thirst… life slowly draining...
I had to hunt animals that are practically nonexistent in this world…
    There are deer...rabbits...bears...dogs...
    But good luck finding them...
Which again brings me back to Minecraft...
Animals are needed for armor in that game so they are reasonably findable…
They aren’t crawling all over the place, but if you actively look you will find some…
    That isn’t the case here…
A material you need for an essential basic to craft an item needed to create glass so your character doesn’t die of thirst is made unreasonably inaccessible…
I was in game for 6 real hours… and still didn’t have the materials for a forge…
My tools and character were just as basic as a fresh spawn…
I felt no sense of progression at all which in turn leaves me feeling frustrated.. Like I’m getting nowhere in this game…
I eventually started thinking what the point...is
    I can’t reasonably craft... I can’t build tunnel systems for materials…
I have no source of water….
what am I supposed to do other than not die…
There is such a deep crafting system here….
the idea of the scavenging hunt is a joy... you can create stronger materials to reinforce your shelter from zombie attacks, even craft guns and bullets...
Find schematics scattered throughout the world... find quests that will lead to treasures... but again the inaccessible survival basics with make all of this seem unobtainable…
As if you just can’t find animals for their hides... you’re going to be stick with the basics forever... that’s just how it is….
one missing puzzle piece will stop you from finishing… and once you do find them or any other materials you still have to deal with the over powered zombies… Zombies in this game are quick damage sponges that can somehow climb… You’ll be hitting them over the head with a club for what seems like forever while they just claw and scratch you dealing with more than one without a gun is near impossible… And you can’t just run as for some reason the developers thought it would be a great idea to allow them to stun you, so you can’t moves for like 3 seconds… just taking the damage… and once again you don’t just find guns in this game.. Character limit reached. Hear the rest on YT SuperkenGaming

Now there is a lot a fun to be had in the game itself playing with friends. The graphics are bad. It can be laggy sometimes. The UI is horrendous. Zombies are incredibly powerful and tough to kill. However, with all that and more the base game here is something that will be enjoyable with a friend. Building and trying to survive together is fun. Just know this game has it problems and it is hard. Otherwise enjoy.

Picked Clyde for my character, experienced some minor issues, deleted that save, started with Lee. Been great so far. Some slight polygon tearing here and there, but no game breakers. My girlfriend and I play split screen survival. I'll say this, if you are expecting to be blown away by graphics, don't. The primitive look is what makes the depth possible. Expect sort of a low budget ps3 type look to it, no big deal unless you are a graphics snob. As far as the game goes we are continually impressed at how much ha dot have gone into this, and its hella fun once you get up and going. You can expect to die. A lot. Set it up to where you only lose your tool belt to start, save yourself some headache. The frame rate stutters a bit, when the RAM is being taxed, but again.. not a game breaker. As far as bugs go, with the report system being pretty efficient I would imagine this game will be running smooth in a few months. In essence, its deep and fun. We haven't been able to put it down. You get it cheaper and are essentially helping test the game in this stage. Right now its a solid 6, later on could be a 7- 8 depending on what all they add. Add half a point for fun factor. It can be kinda a grind to collect all the materials you need sometimes, but I didn't think it got too out of hand. Combat with zombies is sorta simplified and not too extravagant. The AI is really bad, as in they are just homing missiles that try to get as close to you as they can and do "whatever action" they are capable of. I realize that they are "zombie" smart, but I've had them get stuck on tree's before. Everyone's already beat up on the simple graphics..so...there is that.

Where it went wrong for me is the lack of depth to this game. In the first seven to fourteen days you have potentially seen everything, and the updates with any real meat to them are few and far between now. It's a shame because this game COULD really go somewhere.

The horror gameplay is right there zombies are every bit as scary as those moments from resident evil, dead island/ dying light with the undead are flooding towards you.
You could say that the combat is limited,., but i really couldnt see myself in realy life taking out a zombie with a jet li combo move
rgp & leveling system is pretty deep i think ,., theres lots of stats & buffs to level up via the oblivion (tes4) method of if you use the skill it levels up with a top up level up every few minor skill levels ., iv only used afew skills so far & upgraded afew perks ,., but i imagine after 6months in game time my survivor will be fully upgraded & able to give any walking dead member a run for there money at zombie take downs, but for now im sticking to arrow to the face & club it when its stunned on the ground :)
& theres a good few of these zombie types ., well 6 or 7 including dogs & bears ,., but everything can be skinned & looted red dead redemption style & you need all this stuff as if you thought fallout 4 survival mode was had with sleep food & water, well this has food water heat levels, sickness, viruses , broken limbs, bleeding & no stimpacks to fix it all at once ,., there is a lot to manage & to balance as you make you way from day to day & night from night
still not tryed online yet or split screen ,., but atleast there is a split screen option .,
i would say its well worth a check out ,., but with a patch or 2 to fix a few bugs then maybe a dlc 6 months down the line to add afew extra zombies or quests & the game would be gold ,., but at the moment in times where resident evil 5 & 7 are "remastered" & selling for the same price as this ,., for each if them ,., id say this would give far more entertainment & frights that they either of them ever could ,

The main thing you have to keep in mind with this game is this: it has layers-- layers and layers of content in its gameplay and matchmaking that make this game very promising. First impressions can be quite uncomfortable and often unforgiving in life, but don't let this one be that to you in your experience with it should you choose to buy it or try it out. Give it time, and you, too, will start to love this game.

Play with a friend, after gaining your bearings and getting adapted to its core gameplay mechanics, to even further enhance and excite your overall experience with 7 days to die. My little brother and I are both having an absolute blast playing this together. In about 5 hours, give or take, we made great progress in our server; we got all the way to day 7 hordes and we're still alive and thriving. We killed just short of 300 (296) zombies together in our first in-game week to which we both we're playing seriously on "classic zombies" mode on nomad. And we did all that in 5 hours, more or less.

Like I said before, its only going to get better. There aren't any game breaking glitches in this game from what me or any of my friends have noticed. Its not at all repetitive in the gameplay, unless you're making it that way in your own respective play style. The game is refreshing and innovational, with already over two million copies sold on PC and steam alone.

On a lasting note, patches to fix and rehabilitate problems that some of these guys are addressing in their negative votes (in the red, 4 out of 10 and below) have already gone live on PS4 and Xbox one. Right now, in fact, we are already in version 1.03 and it has seriously smoothed out a lot of rough edges. Is it still laggy and a bit clunky at times? Yes, sure, of course. Future patches and plans are already in place.

If you really are considering buying this game, do a little research and you will see what the future has in store for this game. Give it a real chance before you burn on it and just call it trash. It's a true indie-like gem, and I, as many other gamers, am truly happy and grateful that they brought this over to console. Anticipating and eager to see what they do with it in the near future.

Graphics: 2/10 For a graphics guru they are horrible, for a casual gamer graphics don't matter.

Gameplay: 0.5/10 The stunned feature is extremely annoying with the wonky and glitchy combat, and i dont think you would be stunned by a slam from a brain dead rotting walking corpse.

Price: 1/10 Really not worth 30$ at the point its at, probably, i would say 15$ is more reasonable

Playtime: 6/10 You are easily able to put many many many hours into this game if you can deal with the problems listed above.

Recommendable: Not at all right now, i would just get the pc version for cheaper.

This game is really scratching an itch in terms of base building, survival and crafting. The combat and graphics are very lacklustre but in all honesty thats just not what this game is about. It does fit into that minecraft niche where graphics and combat are second to being able to interact and use everything you can see.

While the pricetag is very steep for what you get, I know already that this is a game i'm going to keep coming back too. My advice is to watch a few gameplay clips so you know what kind of interface your dealing with and if your still keen take the plunge, you might just be pleasantly surprised.
Splitscreen is great fun defending against the weekly hordes, I just hope a few major updates are included in the price not just DLC/bug fixes, too my knowledge we're not promised anything beyond the base game.

The game has bugs, glitches, a bad interface and past-gen graphics.
However the possibilities in this game are amazing.

I have over 100+ hours on PS4 and 50+ hours on PC.
Still enjoy it on a daily base.

This game is amazing. The way the detail in every part of the game makes so much sense. I started out in the desert. I found this house and it took me a while to figure out how to get yucca juice but then eventually started getting better, tracking airdrops, and planning ahead to make sure that i would survive to the next day. Once i figured out how to build storage containers that changed everything. I thought i was pretty badass in the desert and then figured out that there was a much LARGER population of zombies next door. Fortunately it took me a while to reach the next sector or time zone of the map. The game is very detailed and I havent experienced any bugs and im prettty sure they patched it. You really have to play it and try it, very adddicting because of the open world and anthing can be resourced. I feel as if its minecraft with zombies and the graphics are better. I dont know what else to say but this was an incredible find at a random gamestop and im happy i chose to buy it.

I can even honestly say that enjoy being attacked every seven days since it gives me something to work towards and that makes survival mode more fun for me unlike in a game like Minecraft for instance where it just feels annoying or in Conan Exiles where your waiting for a bar to fill up to actually have some fun against NPC's.

I'll admit this game isn't perfect, but for $40 you can do a lot worse in my opinion.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. (Xbox One) The premise of the game is good and that's what attracted me to it. The wonky combat, glitchy zombies, technical issues, tedious UI, graphics and frame rate issues just totally ruined it for me. By day 14 I could no longer ignore the fact that this game was more frustrating than fun. I couldn't defend myself on the highest game play level against zombies because of the ridiculous combat mechanic coupled with the game freezing momentarily each time I desperately needed a head shot -or -walking off a platform in my base straight into the horde below because the frame rate drops to 0 as I'm moving forward to line up a shot. Why even put the effort into digging trenches and building massive spike walls when most of the frantic zombies just glitch spin right over your defenses during horde attacks? The game has real potential but the execution is abysmal. This is half a game and was not ready for full release on console. Expand

In all honestly, although it can be buggy at times, I've experienced fewer bugs in this game than I've experienced in AAA titles such as The Division.
The reason I think this is such a good game, is that the fundamental experience in this game is just really exciting, for half the price of a AAA title it has surprising depth to it, and as a result it will take you a while to get the hang of. You are always being challenged and you have to adapt, things to mind range from temperature, bears, hunger and thirst, and of course zombies. This game just has a way to always keep you on your toes.
At first look at the reviews and gameplay of this game I was hugely skeptical, but I liked the concept of the game and so took the plunge. Overall, I would definitely recommend it if you are interested in the survival-horror style gameplay, but I would warn that it certainly isn't the most polished game but it has huge potential.
At its current state I would give it a 7/10, but with bug fixes and bit of fine tuning this game could be a 9/10 which is great for a game that's half the price of a AAA title.

I like survival games, also enjoyed Ark, this is a great take on the horror style. The largest part of this game is exploring the world and seeing what you find, thus far I have encountered Nurse zombies which I was strangely attracted too, biker zombies wearing a helmet so they are very tough, and Giant Lumberjack zombies who were surprisingly sneaky. Progression is hard but fair, there is ample grinding in this game, and once you've think you are set up here comes a horde to destroy and you run the risk of starting over. Have encountered some glitches where some zombies get stuck on rocks, spawn on a ceiling type of thing it never ruined the experience. I bought this game for full price (~$35) physically and later bought it digitally while it was on sale. I've only ever experienced the console version of this game (PS4). Bearing that in mind, here's the skinny.

I bought this game for full price (~$35) physically and later bought it digitally while it was on sale. I've only ever experienced the console version of this game (PS4). Bearing that in mind, here's the skinny.

    Keeping in Mind:

-The game is either a procedurally generated map that includes a wide span of different biomes and auto-balances resources and items or it is a preset map used mostly for ease of comparison and getting your feet wet. Major take away should be *Procedurally Generated*

-It is a port of the latest working version of the PC game. Yes, that means it's still being worked on. Yes, it means every month or so the gameplay, some assets, some items, and behind-the-pixels things change. Yes it means the menus are not optimized for controllers. Yes it means graphics and framerates are not optimized for our less-powerful machines. (PS4 in my case as mentioned above).

-The Fun Pimps is an independent development studio of about 25 people that's been around for about 5 years and have worked almost exclusively on this game while.

-The game is not a full $80 (CAD) release.

    The BAD:
-Framerates are not as important to me as other players. I don't get motion sickness and I don't gravitate towards games that require frame-perfect execution. That being said, the frames do stutter quite often and may drop to single digits especially if you're playing it as a couch co-op game.

-Textures are very obviously made for higher specs. Due to the high res machines this game is intended for, the draw distance is cut down on consoles (more so if you're playing on it as a couch co-op game).

-Glitches are plenty. Going back to the fact this game is procedurally generated, the same issues you've experienced in other procedurally generated games still applies here. We all know that procedurally generated stuff isn't always as beautiful as Counter Spy. The more complicated the game is the more artifacts, glitches and wonkities you're going to find and boy is this game complicated (not to be confused with difficult...but it's that also). Also, this world hasn't quite figured out how water works. (Kinda funny.) This is on par with early Bethesda games and if you've bought Skyrim more than once, you really have no reason to complain about this point.

-Occasional version issues. My fiancee and I played the 1.16 version of the game for about 4 months before we realized that we were two versions behind. During this time, the game presented some really odd glitches and behaviours. For instance, once we loaded a game where the time just froze. No day-night cycle. Just constantly high noon. Fixed by restarting the game. Easy.

-Sounds are pretty repetitive. Although this game boasts a sound library about as expansive as my overly religious grandmother who refuses to listen to anything even slightly inappropriate, the effort is clearly visible. *Please see not a full $80 release. Nobody complains about the infinite loop which was the original Angry Birds BGM.

    The GOOD:
-The game is unforgiving. There is definitely a steep learning curve to this game and make no mistake, it's totally done on purpose. When I was researching this game, I was looking for a game that really threw you into the woods in your underwear and let you rough it out in a way Bear Grylls would be proud of and this game delivers on that notion exactly. If/when you're put off by this fact, you can look up the in-game guides on several topics to get you back on track. Once you get the hang of it, you actually feel a sense of accomplishment and reward by the fact your wellness is more than double what you start with.

-It's a real(ish) base builder. I always wanted to try Mincraft but couldn't stand the blocky graphics. This game satisfies that itch without making you feel like you're playing with legos.

-No two games will be the same. Back to procedural generation. Every time you start a new random gen map, discovering it is just as fun as surviving in it. You never know what's around the corner and it spurs you to search on.

-Couch Co-Op! Not many games tackle this topic and thank RNG-sus this game does. I've played this with my fiancee for more than 100 hours at this point no question. Despite all the issues with this mode that I mentioned earlier, I'll gladly get over it just to play next to my fiancee. It genuinely makes you feel like you're surviving with the one other person in the ruined wasteland that you can fully trust......or can you?

-Endless fun. There is literally no end to this game. If you really just need another world to sink your teeth into for a really long time without being distracted by a lame attempt at a story or being bothered by must-finish-this-to-progress missions, this is a good place to do it. None of the missions given to you are mandatory and as far as I can tell, you decide when the game is over.

TL;DR: Endless hours of fun if the technicalities (framerates and such) don't bug you.

Ok I bought this game in Nov 2016 on PS4. After 1 and a half year playing the game & watching carefully the companies behind the game, I felt the need to express my thoughts.

Well folks, it's bad, really bad. And the main reason is the non existent optimization of the game for the console. Telltale Publishing & Iron Galaxy should be really ashamed of calling themselves game company.

Well folks, it's bad, really bad. And the main reason is the non existent optimization of the game for the console. Telltale Publishing & Iron Galaxy should be really ashamed of calling themselves game company. Cause at this point, it's not a game, it's still a early draft of a game. But there is an explanation for this : the PC version of the game is still in early access (after 5 years of dev). But the console version is marketed as a full & finished game. IT IS NOT!

It's a game in alpha state, with tons of bugs, lags, crashes and more. The AI 15 years late, the frame-rate vary between 10 to 25 fps, the UI & graphics will hurt your eyes, there is no end game or story or whatever that motive you to keep playing. You just build base, wait for it to be destroyed by zombie horde, rebuilt it, wait for the next wave, and it keep going over and over. There no lore, no story, no secret.

The game also seriously suffer from a lack of content. Telltale & Iron Galaxy don't even bother anymore to bring the same content the PC version has. They do not communicate anymore about the future of the game. And the way they speak to the console community is unacceptable. They blame the players for having consoles that "aren't powerful enough to support a good experience, or the same content as the Pc version" (sic).
Well you know what? I'm not the one who tried to port the game on console and sell it as a finished product, Telltale & IG are! If they saw during the early test that the game will not be playable correctly on consoles, they should not have port the game. It's that simple ! Also be aware that, on the PSN there are no screenshots or actual in game video of the game. The store page shows only a live action trailer which does not describe the game as it is.

Also I need to talk to you about multiplayer : it's broken. The splitscreen feat is unplayable cause it's so laggy and the online multiplayer only support 4 players on the same room with a lot of freeze, input lag and disconnections. And when people ask about dedicated servers the answer from Telltale & IG is that "it will be to expensive". But there is dedicated server on PC ! And more, on some games the players pay to have their own dedicated servers (battlefield, cod, and more) so it will not be THAT expensive.

There is good ideas and mechanics in this game and more to come, but it will surely be dropped out by The Fun Pimps (creators of the PC version) who mainly survive on the mod community. For the console version, it has obviously been abandoned by Telltale & IG months ago...
People **** about Sean Murray on No man's sky, but Hello Games have done more in 1 year to improve No man's Sky than Iron Galaxy did on 7 days to die in 2 & half years !

So to conclude this rant, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME ! I made the mistake to give money to companies that are obvious cash grabber, so please do not make the same mistake ! And If somehow, you are reading this and work at Telltale Publishing or Iron Galaxy, please, if you have at least a small amount of honor, leave the game industry... forever !

That is.. if you can get past the core issues of the game.

Who knows the future of this game after the shut down of Tell Tale Games (the porters of the console versions).

If you haven't played 7 Days to Die I do not recommend starting here on the consoles. The PC version is better, though still plagued by issues, its to a much lesser degree.

Great concpet terrible execution. I wish time would be put into development before slapping some unfinished game down. Also it runs horribly on PS4 on my PC I average 70-80 even with High Specs. There is potential in the game. However it's up to the developers to reach that standing.

It's 2018, now I'm not asking for 4k 60 fps for every game I get it, but at least a little better. Other than looks its gameplay is alright, gathering resources and exploring towns is fun. The combat is a little boring with a gun or bow, even with a melee weapon it lacks some. I can recommend it only if you have friends that play with you, if you do then it's fun once you get past the whole graphics and a little buggy its fun. I do play it a lot because in all it's not a bad attempt at a zombie survival, and with not many good true zombie survival games out there. Also building and designing you base to live and defend is super fun. It's a little better on pc but I can recommend it for sure on anything, Solid game, I hope they keep adding to the game I would love to see game become amazing. Expand

Also, there is no reason the server should only hold 4 players. Specifically if they add a trophy to kill 2,000 other players. When only 4 people can join the game? That is ridicules.

The game could use a few updates and add more content to the game. But for what it is, it's still a lot of fun for a survival game.

This game is bad!! On ps4 at least, poor Controls, the map sucks, giving coordinates to find your team mate, just give me an icon! I get its survival but that's just tedious. It's clearly made for PC with no adaptions made for ps4.

I have to be honest started the game several time and did not get to the point I liked the experience. I started it with some college again and got in to the game and all the mechanics and then I couldn’t stop playing. Now it is my number one game on steam and I have 2700+ games with more than 260 hours played. When you get in to it then it is really a Diamant.

The gameplay is actively expanding: POIs, new zombies, behavior, AI, skills, tools, there is a good translation into many languages ( as for an indie game, even very good), weapons, new quests from merchants at last! The game has a VERY big future if the developers continue to develop it in the right directions.

To play it comfortably and without FPS drawdowns, you will need really powerful hardware. 7 Days to Die previously needed a lot of work. It is now in a playable and downright fun state, with a strong crafting and scavenging element that often makes sense and keeps immersion in the survival setting. Zombies become more dangerous as time goes on, but so does the player, as long as they balance their survival with scavenging for better equipment and learning new skills, and 7 Days to Die does a better job staving off the difficulty plateau many survival games eventually succumb to. Following updates, the gameplay is sturdy and solid, built off of an already fun foundation.

Even three months and numerous patches after release, it’s clear that this project is nowhere near complete.Worse, the developers are clearly prioritizing the more successful PC version over this compromised port job. Console-owning fans of the survival genre may find something to enjoy in 7 Days To Die, but my advice is to steer clear all the same.
