Graphics are absolute rubbish. Gameplay is both old and frustrating (run, shoot, stop to pick up ammo, run, stop to pick up ammo, shoot, stop to pick up armour *yawn*) the cut-scenes are intrusive or overly long (get up make coffee wait for action to start again) and the AI is both dumb and glitchy.

Worst of all it's just boring. I gave up half way through to watch a Tom Cruise movie -

I really wanted W:TNO to be a hardcore FPS. Everything looked great and I eagerly purchased it. Next was the health system, a pair of numbers at the bottom of the screen: one for health, the other for armour. Interesting.

I scaled through the mission and finished, uninspired. I left the game for a while and then returned a few days later, still relatively unimpressed.

Apart from dual wielding nearly every weapon in the game, it fails to excite. My journey ended when two titan-esque robots appeared in a mission and turned me into Less-Than-Happy-Face-Man.

I know I should have continued, but I wasn't compelled enough to end their metallic reign of terror.

do you call that a ps3 quality game??? Well i call that **** . to start with, the graphics are so poor that i reminds me of a ps2 game if not ps1. then coming to the environment , yuck man!!! glaring issues and very poor textures. as for the gamplay it seems ok. except that it is no longer fun playing a purposely dumped game on our beloved ps3. thanks

Great setting, mildly interesting story, and underwhelming graphics (too much bloody texture popping...similar to the issues with RAGE on the PS3...if not worse!). Bethesda again lives up to its infamous reputation of releasing broken games on the PS3...would score this 7.7 really but since metacritic doesn't allow decimals.....7 is all I'm giving.

I have many reviews, have played many games, and am not a hater; check my other reviews. That being said, this game is awful. The worst I have ever played. Worse even than Risen or Two Worlds I. Simply can't believe it. After all the glowing reviews I was shocked that basically this game is broken on the PS3. A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY; not worth a rental, really.

you will be so disappointed in this game if you get it. you'll want to buy it, because it's wolfenstein, and bethesda had a hand in its making...but i assure you, you will regret your decision if you purchase this. you will feel ripped off.

don't look at the writer reviews on IGN or Gamespot, etc., or look at the nice screen shots they show....they're only for the PS4/PC version. The PS3 version is garbage. It's almost like they want you to buy a PS4 to get a PS3 experience, by making the PS3 version look like PS2 or PS1.

Even then there were glitches abound such as guns twitching in enemies hands and cut scenes stopping early. As for the game itself it's nothing original. I love the previous Wolfenstein games but this one is just over the top, dumb violence like Inglorious Bastards (which we all know was used as a reference during development) with no real substance. Lame brain hero who sounds like another Bale Batman. I guess people still like meat head games where not much thinking is involved. Some of the designs of the enemies were good but the level design was worse then Rage. Heck I enjoyed Rage much more than this dud. Amazed Bethesda took on such a project. Worth a rental I guess if your too bored to go outside, read a book or wash dishes. Expand

    I was very positively surprised.
My only concerns was details like not being able to customize controls (I hate pressing the sticks to run) and that the difficulty settings maybe was a little on the easy side.
    Overall a very nice experience.

One of the greatest single player games ever. You get to shoot Nazis! Stab Nazis! Make Nazis explode! It's awesome!!

The alternate history where Germany wins World War 2 is a great setting to experience and then destroy. People who played Wolfenstein 3d will also enjoy that it keeps true to the original with health pickups, ammo pickups, secret doors and even the dog food. A must buy

I'm going to start off by noting how well this sucker runs on PS3; I was worried it wouldn't run well (the game having been built for the PS4 and X1), but the game looks and plays great. There can be some muddy textures and some pop-in, but it's nothing that drags the overall experience down. I've noticed some people complaining about glitches, but I've played through the game twice and I haven't run into a single one (but maybe I just got lucky).
I've always been a huge Wolfenstein fan, but the series has never been known for its narrative. Going in, I expected a fun, competent shooter - but I got so much more. While the premise of giant Nazi robots makes the entire setup sound ridiculous, the game gets so many things right on a narrative level - the heroes are complex and relatable and the setting is dripping with atmosphere.
The gameplay is excellent, allowing for a lot of exploration, experimentation, and player freedom. There's plenty here for both stealthy gamers or those who like to go in guns-blazing (and even that has some added depth, allowing for either crazy duel-wielding or a cover system that allows for a more tactical approach).

Wolfenstein the New Order is a 9 and a half hour long first person shooter set in an alternate reality where the Nazis won in world war 2
Without spoiling the story, you play as us special forces operative captain blazkowicz, who’s been out of it for 14 years to learn its 1960 and the us lost
And you set out to rescue your squad and of course take down some Nazis…
The New Order is probably one of the most intriguing first person shooters I’ve played through…
not only thanks to the story of living through alternate history.. But because of how your characters story is told, there’s revenge, love, everything… your journey feels personal instead of generic...
You’re not some forgettable throwaway soldier like you get in most every other first person shooter campaign
And because of this this campaign immerses you deep inside of its world…
This isn’t your typical run and gun campaign..
There’s tons of variety here, missions will have you scaling buildings for targets... going in with stealth, infiltration, and undercover missions…
You never know what the game is going to throw at you keeping the campaign feeling fresh…
There are a variety of weapons and enemies to deal with, and the game mixes things up with a laser gun you get to cut through chain and metal in the game, giving you alternate routes inside of rooms and again stopping this game from just feeling constantly run and gun… you’re not forced to shoot here most of the time, as you can just go in missions with stealth taking out everyone from behind…
but if you do choose to shoot there are plenty of weapon choices and the ability to dual wield guns..
Enemies drop plenty of ammo... but eventually your laser gun is upgraded and able to shoot with unlimited ammo, though it has to be recharged so you’re not waiting for it to recharge on its own at a painfully slow rate after every couple of shots…
Combat can feel challenging if you’re not the stealthy type... especially thanks to the scouts that will call for back up if you don’t take them out before you start shooting...
You do have health that will regenerate slightly... but there are health packs and armor around which seem in abundance at the beginning... but towards the end you’ll be begging for them...
Mission structure all for the most part feels the same.. You’re given a map which rarely helps... I found myself just stumbling around the map until I found the item I was supposed to interact with...
Not the greatest natural progression... but I only felt lost a few times throughout my journey to the end..
I was having a lot of fun with this game thanks to its story and level design... however for me the 2nd half of this game really starts to feel a bit generic and I was ready for this game to be over hours before the final showdown…
While I do feel the final stretch of the new order is a drag, load times are painfully slow, and the occasional lock picking in this game is the worst and most annoying lock picking in video game history
The New Order offers a really unique experience worth picking up and seeing out through to its end
    I Give
    Wolfenstein: the new order
    an 8.0/10

The storyline is top notch, the characters are well thought out, the graphics look like it could be on the PS4, the level design is great, and there's a great mix of cut scenes and action (unlike the Fallout series where you spend most of the game watching cut scenes) The musical score in this game also kicks ass and there's a huge replayeability factor sicne you can gain new skills from your playing style. Game-wise I can't think of another FPS on the PS3 that handles like this, the closest probably being FEAR 2.

It's hard to think of anything bad to say about the game but if I really had to be critical, I guess a multiplayer mode would have been nice. Then again, they probably spent most of the time developing the single story mode which could explain why there isn't a multiplayer. Also sometimes the story can get a bit confusing if you're not following along. Lastly, the most annoying thing in the game for me was the tiny text on the documents you collect and newspaper clippings you can read. It would have been nice to have a zoom feature as the writing is imperceptible unless you have a 30'' TV screen or higher.

But nonetheless, if you haven't played this game yet you're really missing out.

Wolfenstein: The New Order feels like a game which really shouldn’t work. It transplants the feeling of a ’90s first person shooter into 2014; yet also has enough sense to mix in elements of modern game design to ensure it doesn’t feel antiquated. It is an action game which is fully functional as a stealth game. Its narrative is equal measures serious and ludicrous. Its lead character is a superman who feels vulnerable.

The game exults in tomato-can headshots and arms blasted into gristle. Bits pop off bodies with enthusiasm, like giant fingers had flicked them at a wall. And as foes turn to wet paper, Blazkowicz remains a rock.

Its mechanics are shallow, its gunplay is simple, and its story is something out of World War II obsessive’s wet dream. However, the things it gets right it does really well. The stealth is handled perfectly, the inventory and character progression are really well done, and the combination of regenerating health and pickups is actually something I wouldn’t mind seeing in future shooters.
