Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late

French Bread has crafted an intelligent, tactical fighting game that I'll surely be playing for a long time to come.

Under Night may have a weird title and an even odder series of subtitles, but it’s a damn fine fighting game that seems destined to be hailed as a sleeper hit in a few years. If you want to beat that trend, buy it now either physically or digitally and experience one of the finest 2D fighters on a system chock-full of them.

Under Night In-Birth is a good fighting game. Not better than Persona 4 Arena or BlazBlue saga, but has some unique and original mechanics that pro players are gonna love.

Under Night In Birth: Exe Late is a class act; a gorgeous and responsive 2D fighter with a great cast that encourages aggressive play while letting newcomers in on the ground floor.

While it’s a bit disappointing to find that there are some key modes that are missing from the package, I hope that in the next iteration they’ll put out the complete package with everything that we expect from fighters released in the modern age.

One good fighting game. Maybe it's not as deep as previous Arc System Works games, but successfully achieves what it is aiming: to let the player enjoy it.

The creators of the Guilty Gear saga have dished-up another frantic and excellent 2D beat´em up game for PS3.

An excellent technical fighter, that is welcoming for all.

Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late achieves an ease of entry to allow newer players to experience and immerse themselves in traditional 2D fighting action, without sacrificing depth in the higher tiers of gameplay.

It has some qualms, but on the whole it’s a success.

At its core, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late is a complex game that rewards players for taking the initiative. Its variety in character and combat types helps make up for a beefier story mode – though to be honest given the base story I’ve love to see more.

Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late is an interesting 2d fighting game with a very unique fighting system. The Grind Grid mechanic works in a great way in order to force players to fight aggressively and that's amusing for both players and spectators. This fighting game is definitely better than many other similar products out there. Just try it, and you'll be amazed.

It does have some technical issues, but when it comes to gameplay is very solid and fun, and after all, that what matters.

Arc Systems delivers again: A solid retro inspired brawler with an offensively arranged fighting system that takes a little time getting used to but manages to impress.

It's a good alternative to BlazBlue and Guilty Gear, bestowed with solid mechanics and fast rhythm.

All told, Under Night is a reliable, enjoyable effort, especially for newcomers.

Whether it's a game that the hardcore will enjoy over the long term depends entirely on how much of a community springs up around that well-designed, but limited, online multiplayer.
