Oct 10, 2011The original Splinter Cell games are classic, and it's nice to see Ubisoft give them the HD treatment. While not as complete as I was hoping for, this Trilogy is still a great addition addition to your collection.
-
Aug 30, 2011It is a good update of the classic titles, and it has been a great choice to base it on the PC versions, and not on the PS2 versions, which had less content. Although it updates the graphics well, the engine looks old, and the cinematics have not improved.
-
Play UKNov 27, 2011The lack of multiplayer is disappointing. [Issue#210, p.92]
-
PSM3 Magazine UKOct 4, 2011More challenging and rewarding than many PS3 titles, the only alarm triggered here is Ubi's lack of effort with the update. [Nov 2011, p.101]
-
Aug 29, 2011Whether you go to whole-hog and play in 3D, or your budget only extends to 2D, the games are all largely the same as when they were originally released - only brighter and sharper.
-
Oct 9, 2011This latest HD collections doesn't hit the high-water mark set by similar releases, such as the amazing Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection, but those craving a classic stealth-action romp will want to don the night vision goggles for this three-for-the-price-of-one package.
-
Oct 8, 2011If you've traveled this path before, the only new things that are really offered are trophies and the option to enable 3D if you've got the hardware. However, if you haven't had the chance to experience the lore of Sam Fisher (and you're not an inverted player), the Splinter Cell Classic Trilogy HD has the potential to offer you a unique and memorable journey.
-
Sep 15, 2011The package eventually gains value due to the inclusion of a classic trilogy from the previous generation, that gains a new visibility.
-
Aug 23, 2011So if you're new to the series and want to see what all the fuss is about, Splinter Cell Trilogy HD is still a decent stealth package. It should be much better, though - and that's why it's hard to recommend it as strongly as the games themselves deserve.
-
Oct 23, 2011Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Trilogy should have been a must-have game. After all, each of these games still adhere to the strict emphasis on stealth that made the series so popular in the first place, and all three have stories that are interesting without being too convoluted. Unfortunately, the graphics don't feel worthy of being called HD, and the frame rate feels like it's making the system struggle.
-
Oct 13, 2011If you can forgive the exclusion of online, this trilogy is still more than worth picking up if you have fond memories. Chaos Theory still stands up as one of the best games of last gen, and the other two are nice for nostalgia if nothing else.
-
Sep 29, 2011The Splinter Cell Trilogy is still great to play, but the lack of a multiplayer mode and the addition of bugs and glitches turn this game into a lazy port. Especially considering the fact that the first two games tend to be obsolete, it's hard to recommend this bundle.
-
Sep 27, 2011A slapdash production with lousy visuals and no multiplayer.
-
Aug 31, 2011Jerky graphics and almost no optimization, but the mission design makes this HD remake still worth playing.
-
Oct 4, 2011If you had high hopes for this trilogy, do yourself a favor and save your money for the next Splinter Cell release.
-
Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)Oct 29, 2011Despite their past success, Splinter Cell, Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory make for a less than impressive HD package. [Dec 2011, p.77]
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKOct 11, 2011Sorry, Sam old buddy, but its time we dropped you off at the great retirement castle in the sky. [Nov 2011, p.112]
-
Aug 31, 2011Chaos Theory is the highlight of the three single-player campaigns in Splinter Cell Trilogy HD, but technical issues and the absence of multiplayer really disappoint.
-
Oct 24, 2011Hopefully as we see more and more of these HD sets release, publishers start to take notice of what we expect, because Splinter Cell Trilogy HD is certainly some shoddy work.
-
Oct 5, 2011However, the actual porting of these games just feels sloppy as the omission of online play for Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory is unfortunate and not allowing players to select an inverted control scheme is inexcusable. In the end, this compilation does have some merits, but the negative points really stand out and make this a tough one to recommend.
-
Oct 24, 2011This collection just feels like a quick cash grab aimed at people who have never played a Splinter Cell game before. This collection may appeal to the hardcore Splinter Cell fans but outside of pleasing diehard fans, these games could be completely unmissed.
