Maybe not as intensive as The Walking Dead, but it feels more original, more unique, more colorful. It's nice to meet all these Fables characters and as always, from the story and adventure perspective, this is a ride worth taking. After achieving huge success with their TWD game, Telltale decided to capitalize on that success by creating another excellent game using what worked with TWD. It succeeds because once again this feels like your story. The often brutal and tough choices you have to make matter, and influence the story in unique ways. Bigby might be a character that's personality and convictions have already been established in other media, but I still felt like I was in control of him and was shaping him to be the type of person I wanted him to be. Thats incredibly impressive.

It's an experience that's filled with unforgettable moments and a compelling word and story that's filled with awesome characters. As someone who had no previous experience with the comic books this ties into, this game has peaked my curiosity enough that I plan to dive into them in the future. Telltale's TWD follow up is excellent. An absolute must-play for those who loved TWD, and want to see what Telltale can do with a different universe.

Gameplay feels dumbed down to a linear walk with unskippable cutscenes, and QTEs (quicktime events). No puzzles, no investigation, no clever choices. It's a passive experience, with every option resulting in similar short retorts from the otherwise characteristic and memorable inhabitants of Fabletown.

The game is well realised, well produced, well directed, well told. Well made. But

The game is well realised, well produced, well directed, well told. Well made. But it's a shallow core experience, and barely meets the standard for interactive entertainment.

Conclusively, a game you can easily enjoy as good entertainment, but not a notable experience. I didn't learn anything from the story, and only the QTEs got me excited, for the wrong stressful reasons.

Biggest takeaway for me was the easy Platinum trophy.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wolf Among Us is based on comic book series, Fables, by Bill Willingham. Game is prequel to the comic book story and very true to the source material.

Story stars fast and introduces Bigby Wolf / Big Bad Wolf who is sheriff in fantasy noir themed Fabletown. There is much backstory, lore and thing to be found, that it is well worth all the time you can spend with this episodic tale, where player's own choice really matter.
You can be the real BB Wolf if you want and solve situations with fists and be feared. But you can also try to be different and solve things with words, or try. Wolf is hated and feared character which gives him more depth. Bigby Wolf might just be of the best main characters in video games for a long time.

Game itself is story driven mystery thriller. Wolf Among Us is detective story where you solve mystery that includes all those grim things that noir styled games, movies and books contain. There will be blood, a lot of it, there will be deception, nudity, violence and bad language. Behind all that, there is very strong story where the choices you make in first episode, will affect during the events in last episode.

There is five episodes: Faith, Smoke and Mirros, Crooked Mile, In Sheeps Clothing and Cry Wolf. There is not severe quality difference between episodes, but some are better than others. But if you ask me, Cry Wolf becomes the best, after that one point, with real Wolf.

One thing makes Wolf Among Us really atmospheric game. Because the game is episodic, you can play it like TV-series and take a break after one episode, or play it like a movie and finish it on one sitting. This game really knows how to make a cliffhanger, since the first episode ends with so serious turn, that you just can't stop playing.

Style in Wolf Among Us in point & click / QTE. Some people love it, some people hate it. To me it works really fine. Game forces you to make difficult choices a fast. Sometimes there is very little time and because this is story driven game, thing you do, you can't take back. You can't please everyone and when you do something first, you can't do something else later. More than once you faced with situation where you must choose what to do first and whatever you do later, will be different than it would have been, if you had done it first.

Wolf Among Us is fantasy game where those familiar fairy tale characters are brought to our world. You will meet so many familiar characters that are done so well, that you will want more after last episode ends. That is time to search those Fable comics.
Characters are done very well and acted very well. There is depth real emotions going on. These characters have past and in many cases, it is not good. Thing have happen after and Bigby is not very liked man, will you use it, or try to change it.

Wolf Among Us is in my opinion, best episodic game I have ever played. Each episode is very good and balanced well. Choices are often very trivial, but when there is game changing choice to be, it might be very difficult one.

Wolf Among Us is game of the Year 2014 to me.

An enjoyable story. Much less like a regular action game and more like going through a story by making choices. Time and time again, you will feel that you have made a mistake with your choices, however eventually the story builds up based on how you played. Telltale Games puts to good use the Willingham's Fables in order to create a creepy and original place, where fairy tale creatures live aside from the glamour of the happy endings. A perfect noir thriller, and an interactive adventure that fans of the Californian studio will enjoy.

Another piece of episodic excellence from Telltale, but it just falls away slightly toward the end. [Oct 2014, p.64]

Each morally ambiguous decision I made left me questioning whether I was the right person to be making them, but in the end, it was MY Bigby and MY story, and I can only thank Telltale Games for giving me the opportunity to tell such an awesome tale in my own way.
