The Shoot

It's pretty much exactly as we expected. Though that's not a bad thing. [Issue#199, p.92]

This is a good arcade shooting game, but with its own limitations. It is too short, although it has additional game modes, but is a more than decent game.

The Shoot is one of the PlayStation Move games that works great. You work as an actor on a movieset and you have to shoot every bad guy that pops up on the screen. When you shoot more you will get a multiplier and that means more points. Points are necessary to unlock new movies in another setting. The game is pretty basic, but because the PlayStation Move works great it's a nice game!

In the end, The Shoot is actually one of the better PlayStation Move titles but unfortunately it's plagued by a very short completion time.

As a whole, The Shoot may not be the best and most fleshed-out Move game available, but it's definitely one of the few that is actually worth checking out.

Cohort's game clearly isn't designed for the po-faced shooter fan, and holds more than enough character to enable most players to see past its more quibblesome design weaknesses to the light, throwaway fun it represents. [Christmas 2010, p.113]

The Shoot is a decent game overall. It doesn't bring anything new to the table, but it perfectly fills the void of a truly fun-to-play, laid-back shooter that's been missing on the PlayStation 3.

The game experience is over in a matter of only a couple hours. For gamers on a budget, $40 is way too much to ask for such a short experience. But what's here is good and you'll have a good time if you've got the money or pick it up as a rental.

Overall, I definitely had a lot of fun with The Shoot. Like all lightgun shooting games it can feel somewhat repetitive here and there and it doesn't really take all that long to play through for the first time. There's enough unique gameplay additions, extra content and modes to keep most gamers busy for some time.

In concept there is nothing new here, but that doesn't stop it from being a short, yet frantic game with a few thrills. So if longevity isn't your thing, The Shoot is a satisfying romp for under $40.00.

The Shoot is another typical game that demonstrates a ton of possible Move functionalities. The game isn't very unique and so we are still waiting for a very hardcore Move game.

With more variation and a more concentrated shooting experience, this would easily be one of our Move party games of choice. Hopefully we'll see the ideas on show here shift and blossom into something brilliant in the future.

It might be short, but there's some solid fun to be had in this family-friendly Move shooter.

You'll burn through each movie pretty fast; there are only a few hours of gameplay here. The levels are designed with unlockables in mind to prompt multiple playthroughs. If you get sucked into high scores you'll likely want to give it a few goes to try and boost it. [December 2010 p79]

The Shoot isn't a masterpiece, but it's the proof that PlayStation Move is capable of acting like a funny light gun.

The Shoot is an entertaining ride while it lasts. Problem is, it doesn't last very long.

The Shoot lacks any really depth and the multiplayer element hasn't been implemented as well as it could have been and as a result despite not being a bad shooter overall the game quickly starts to feel repetitive.

Despite being a low budget game for casuals The Shoot gives the player a genuine feeling of old-style on-rail shooters. The game appears funny and original; it's a pity that title do not features enough longevity.

If you like the rail shooters, and own a PS Move, The Shoot is a nice deal. It's still a little expensive for a game you'll finish soon enough, but on the other hand, FPS games with less-than-6-hours solo campaigns are legion... It's also a nice way to start playing with your PS Move.

The Shoot offers mild entertainment in a quick arcade-style shooter package, but it is ultimately lacking in so many areas it is hard to justify the price tag.

The Shoot is a stylish rail shooter that both entertain and annoy. The actual shooting works fine, but some other movements are not always recorded as they should. Moreover, it's unnecessarily difficult to unlock the few courses that are available - especially for younger players. Thanks to the nice setting and an intelligent scoring system, The Shoot is still a good choice for fans of the genre.

There is a place for games like The Shoot, and it will appeal to a very specific audience of casual players, but for everyone else, it's hardly worth the price of admission.

You'll get at least an hour's worth of play time out of it, and you might even go back for one or two stages. There really isn't anything this game does, however, that hasn't been done better, and on far less advanced consoles.

The game is extremely small, with a few things that can attract the player.

The Shoot doesn't make a convincing reason to purchase the Move controller, and if you're after a game in this genre it might be worth checking out Time Crisis Razing Storm first.

£29.99 is a lot to ask for a game that only offers a few hours of entertainment, and even less if you're too lazy or rubbish to unlock everything.

The Shoot is hard to dislike, hard to like, and hard to care about in any way.

The Shoot is an uninspired on-rails shooter that fails to capture the imagination it desires to make real and simply remains below average.

In the end The Shoot provides the occasional bout of enjoyment for a single player but almost none for multi. It's not all bad but its design choices get in the way and forsaken the experience. It gets some use out of your Move controllers at least but don't expect anything of any substance.

Buy this, and the only shooting you'll be doing is to yourself: in the foot.
