    Hearthfire will appeal to the player that has made enough headway to justify buying the add-on but for those constantly on the road or haven’t been burdened yet with too much stuff to carry around, it might seem too superfluous to justify the purchase.

    If you have the soul of an interior designer, then it's time for you to celebrate. Hearthfire will give you hours and hours of building your perfect home with all its new features. On the other hand, this DLC does not include any plot related content, so if the only thing you seek is adventure, this DLC is not suited for you.

    Skyrim is a game you really make your own, and building a home in Hearthfire is a natural and enjoyable extension of this concept. It’s not quite up there with the excitement of slaying beasts and looting dungeons, but homebodies will love it nonetheless.

    I am divided by this DLC. Basically it gives you the option to build houses filled to your heart content in “The Pale”, “Hjaalmarch” andI am divided by this DLC. Basically it gives you the option to build houses filled to your heart content in “The Pale”, “Hjaalmarch” and Falkenreach region if you have the resources. House is probably not even the right word as these got huge in the highest tier. Also there are tons of stuff you can build. Be it furniture, trophies, display cages, racks or building stations like alchemy labs for example. There is so much it can be overwhelming. Also you can hire a steward, bard and carriage driver. Atop of this your spouse can move in and you can adopt children. There are new materials added for crafting and a few smaller events. Because it is not an expansive DLC I say it is worth your money. However I have some negatives too. It is also a bit underwhelming. There are no real quests that grab your attention. I would prefer for example to rebuild Helgen and given me choices like different buildings and hiring citizens. If done with fending of attacks, making decisions that affect the town and economy it would be excellent. A “Kingdom Come Deliverance” DLC did this far better. Lastly and this is just nitpicking I would to like to adopt more children as I want save them all from “Grelod the Kind” who leads the orphanage in Honorhall. Anyone who played the game knows what a monster she is (or was;-). Overall I liked the additions but it had not a big impact for the game. Could remove this and I would not rant about. It is included in the complete / game of the year editions of the game which is the better option.… Full Review »

    Boring and pointless; doesn't have any relationship with what is enjoyable about the game. Really not even worth the $5, it's for completionism only.

    I really like the idea of owning a property, but this expansion doesn't implement it very well. Buying a house with gold and customizing it isI really like the idea of owning a property, but this expansion doesn't implement it very well. Buying a house with gold and customizing it is decent, but if you want to build your own house, gathering the materials might be very tedious and exhausting, and it's not worth your time.… Full Review »
