Out of the shadows is a great game, but it's also a terrible game. Between its truly deep combat and solid animations, you'll find lots of technical issues and borderline awful level design. That said, each turtle truly feels unique, and the combat is solid and precise enough to find a lot of fun in if you can look past its problems. Just be prepared to find your way around some utterly complicated control. The campaign mode is short and fun enough for multiple play throughs, even though the campaign doesn't really have large enough encounters for the combat to shine as well as it could have, but there are a lot of extra modes to really flex the game's combat muscle if you want more. If not for its technical problems and confounding button mappings, I'd say this is easily one of the best tmnt games ever. As it stands, it's a lot better than most reviews would have you believe. This is almost tmnt character action a good 2 years before platinumgames effort. You really have to overlook some issues that shouldn't have existed in the first place, but if you can, you're in for a truly great time. Expand

I really love TMNT and I was excited to hear about this game. However, I was disappointed for the long wait for the PS3 release but I heard it was fixing some bugs so that's good. I figure it was because of the new TMNT live action trailer. I played mostly on multiplayer with a friend and it was a bit glitchy. We couldn't even get the lobby going cause my screen who just show blank. TheI really love TMNT and I was excited to hear about this game. The combos, fighting style and great little player perks were awesome. I think playing with a friend or two makes this game a little more great then just solo.
There were several times when we encounter 'invisible enemies' and had to restart the game. The camera angles were sometimes odd. I would be up on the ceiling trying to fight a guy or inside the wall.

Another thing that disappointed me was that the challenges modes aren't multiplayer just the campagin. I would have really liked that to be multiplayer once we finished the game. My friend and I had a lot of fun with the game, I wished it was a bit longer and had more options for online stuff. It was 15$ so you can't really complain. I would actually replay the story just for fun with friends though. If you like TMNT then you will enjoy this game.

This PS3 port may be more stable than its counterparts, but that doesn’t redeem its archaic gameplay and bland visuals.
