    Firstly I want to admit that I am neither a fan nor hater of South Park. I picked up the game as I heard good things about it and it was not disappointing. It is a good RPG with the respectless, hard hitting and dark South Park humor (that can also be disturbing or disgusting for some people). They are capturing the visuals, style, character and feeling of the show perfectly. Story: YouFirstly I want to admit that I am neither a fan nor hater of South Park. I picked up the game as I heard good things about it and it was not disappointing. It is a good RPG with the respectless, hard hitting and dark South Park humor (that can also be disturbing or disgusting for some people). They are capturing the visuals, style, character and feeling of the show perfectly. Story: You are the new kid in town who moved in with his parents recently. You are befriending the local kids who run a fantasy LARP (Live action role playing game). The two fractions the elves and humans are in conflict. You are joining them and participate in a game that surpasses your wildest imaginations. I stop here and say the story gets enjoyable crazy. There is so much great humor, remarkable twists and a lot of fan service. The story worked well from beginning to the end. Gameplay: The kids use a lot of (videogame) RPG tropes. You are the newest member and start at the lowest rank and must earn your success RPG style. You chose a class as fighter, thief, mage or jew (People that know South Park know that the last is not a joke or typo by me). Each class has special abilities that differ but it has no influence on equipment as I had not found any class restricted items. As per RPG standard you gain experience points by completing tasks and defeating enemies. Leveling up unlocks new abilities. Be warned as you cant learn all abilities. There is a special magic system using the lower end of your back and is hilariously entertaining. It has also elements from a Metroidvania game as you get new abilities that unlock formerly unreachable parts. The battles are turn based and have a bit of tactical depth. If you attack an enemy on the map you have the first turn. You are supported by 1 South Park character of your choice with different abilities. Different enemies require different approaches and status effects can be devastating for you and/or the enemy. Better equipment gives better results and you can add strap ons on weapons for additional effects. I always tried to get additional bad status effects on my enemies and it worked well in the game. Also there is a Facebook like feature. The more friends or followers you have the more perks unlock that help. There are more things like side quests, hidden secrets or helpers. In total the gameplay is really good with some flaws I will describe below. Graphic and visuals: I say this is one of the best source adaptations in videogames. Everything looks like in the show. I only thought that South Park as town was bigger than shown in the game. All characters act and feel like expected and I will praise the amount of dedication and work that was put into the game (I am not a huge fan of the style of the show but here it would be unfair to complain). Humor: They did not hold back. It is as respectless, satirical, dark and sometimes disgusting as the show. I was really entertained by the humor and praise the game. As per South Park standard I must warn people that the humor is not for everyone and is by many considered tasteless, harmful or deeply disgusting. Even I will say that some jokes are beyond what I find acceptable and I like dark humor. Negatives: There are some negatives for me. Firstly I reached max level a few hours before the end of the game. This was a waste as I did want to get more abilities and battles after that feel a bit wasted. The endgame battles drag along too much without actually being too difficult (I never died in the game so I think the game could be a bit harder as I see myself not as above average player). Lastly it is a bit shorter for an RPG with approx 20-25 hours but it was mostly excellent in that time. Overall this was surprisingly well done. Even as none South Park fan I was greatly entertained and recommend the game if you can endure the humor. They put huge effort and ideas in the game and stayed loyal to the source material.… Expand

    I played this game two times. First time i played before becoming a fan of South park, and second time after becoming a fan of this great serial. All this times i enjoyed a lot, there are a lot of Easter eggs, sarcasm and smart jokes. The best game about South park, unfortunately not for everyone.

    Not a fan of the tv show, but this game is pretty good. At it's core it's a traditional turn based game, it's a decent one, albeit with south park flavor and ridiculousness added into it. It's what truly sets the game apart from others, I mean dodging a nut-suck during the middle of a battle? Aside from story and combat, you can traverse the town and find collectibles, complete side quests, and make new friends; it's a plus to me the metroidvania elements in the game was surprisingly deep. You can also find better equipment for battle also. The negatives for me was I felt that the secondary story in the game was pretty lame, and the combat just became way too easy for me as the game went on, I spammed the same move over and over. This review is not coming from a biased South Park fan, since this is the game that made me a South Park fan: not the show, not the movie, but The Stick of Truth! Such an addicting game, all of the 4 classes made the replay value incredibly high. The humor lives up to the standard the show is known for crossing, and it feels like the greatest season of the show!
    I’ve completed it about a 100 times, and it has been my favorite video game of all time for 3 years, and I’m proud of saying that it still is (if we forget the whole segment with Mr. Slaves a-hole).    … Expand

    If so, the gameplay makes you feel like your in an extended episode of South Park. Your interactions with the town members are very funny and make you feel as if you live there. Battles play like a traditional turn based RPG, but with a twist. Many of the moves give attacks a boost using simple button prompts, but add a bit more humor or "potentcy" to the attacks. There are special attacks, magic and summons; all of the things that make a RPG great.

    Yet South Park kicks it up a notch with its satirical characters and pokes at things like Taco Bell and the fantasy genre.

    Some of the backtracking did get a little boring, but playing the main story and exploring the town is an endless laugh riot. There are so many damn references to its source material and the current culture that even the item descriptions will have you laughing.

    Stick of Truth was a relaxing time but the gameplay for me was just a bit too repetitive..
    It didn’t take long for me to get bored with the combat...
    This is a turn based rpg where you take turns attacking enemies with potential elemental damage, and effects like bleeding, or gross out…
    with a bag on consumables for healing
    Nothing special…
    You have mana which is used for fart magic you unlock as your progress through the game, and power points for special moves…
    You also have 1 buddy with you when you battle…
    Buddies are unlocked with story progression and can be swapped in and out like Pokémon at any time...
    There’s a buddy for every ones playstyle or to balance your class out…
    So a lot of thought definitely went into balancing this game…
    You can also collect new weapons and armor in backpacks, or buy them at shops…
    This game pokes fun at the rpg genre throughout, which is the only thing I really found charming here…
    I personally found no humor during the combat nor really in the game even though they clearly tried really hard…
    Humor is subjective.. I find games like fat princess adventures to be hilarious while others may look at me strange for saying this… but bathroom humor just doesn’t quite tickle my funny bone, though the game did manage to get few laughs out of me... but not necisarily with the ridiculous things going on like giving an abortion to stans dad, or farting all over the place to progress through the levels.. But when the game would sarcastically make fun of itself... these were the best moments for me as someone not really a fan of the TV show…
    I feel like you need to be a fan to truly enjoy this and get the belly laughs I’ve heard so much about before playing...
    There’s so much fan service here…
    The entire town is mapped out and can be freely explored with tons of collectibles…
    You can do side quests... search the characters drawers for junk, to sell for some pocket change, collect frustratingly missable collectibles like chimpokomon
    It will keep fans of the show entertained for hours…
    The biggest mistake I feel this game makes though is the whole having to fart or use these different abilities to progress…
    It feels a little awkward switching through fart types, or shooting an object then switching to give commands…
    I could’ve done without this needless slowdown…
    Shooting arrows is fine for the collectible aspect or knocking things down in the environment, setting up traps to kill enemies before you get into a battle with them… but I feel like the shrinking, the anal probe thing, and buddy commands got in the way.
    While I didn’t get the laughs I expected, I can still appreciate this game for what it is though as a whole…
    A well balanced, but repetitive, rpg with a decent story to keep you moving forward..

The turn based system is more unique , then normal turn based system, with counter attack , summons , special abillites and so on and is fun, there is way to kill enemies before combat starts witch is cool. The music is great , especially the theme that plays when you make up from one day to the next. The graphic style is also fitting for south park and fit the show very well.     The is an 2/10 with $60 price tage.... 8/10 without price tag, so i split the difference. The only problem with the game is that there is no depth. Map is small, and not a lot of loot, battle system way too simplified.

The M rating is absolutely warranted. South Park's use of shock value and over-the-top satire may offend. There is enough material here for a feature film. Grade 9/10 ~ BornBeforeAtari

    Surprisingly really good! It feels just like you're in an episode of South Park, except the fact that you can't talk. The RPG system is simple, but works. It's very similar to Mario and Luigi games where you have to press the button again to actually attack, and the special attacks/summons are awesome.     Perfect! This game is almost the 17.5th season of the series, and it's a expansion of "Black Friday Trilogy", i love its story. This is the best game ever 4 me (at least until The Fractured But Whole's released), n South Park is my favorite in the whole world, i love it without reason. :P

The combat isn't very challenging, and becomes repetitive after a while. There's also some screen tearing in combat, but not enough to become annoying. However, there is a serious frame-rate issue while auto-saving. Even with these technical hitches, the game runs smoothly and efficiently.

    Story:
    You assume the role of a silent protagonist in a war between the Wizard King (Cartman) and the Elf King (Kyle). Every character has the same role from the "Lord of Rings" episode that aired many years ago. What follows is a series of events that stays true to the formula of South Park comedy: complete and utter outlandish adventures/events that are hilarious. If you are a South Park fan, this game was made for you! The game rewards you for knowing the series by including many characters, events, and running gags from the actual show.

    Graphics:
    I'm very impressed by the fact that the game looks exactly like the show. The character models, their movement, and even the way they speak is true to the series. I can't stress it enough: the entire game is an accurate representation of South Park!

    Verdict:
    This is an amazing game that was made specifically for the South Park fans! The storyline, comedy, and characters are just as funny as the series we love! If you aren't a fan of the series, I wouldn't advise you to buy this game. Even with repetitive gameplay, and some minor technical problems, this is a must play game for South Park fans!    … Expand

    -It is on the short side for RPGs, but as just a game I think the length is fine.

    Now I don't like rating systems, the 9.2/10 (9/10) is just the personal score based on MY experience. Everyone is different therefore will have different impressions on the game. Therefore, I would like to state what kinds of people would LIKE and HATE this game.

    +love South Park
    +want a simple, fun, and average length action RPG
    +want to laugh a lot
    +play a game that's different from other modern video games

    This game is NOT for people who:

But when I heard that the creators were working on this game I got excited and got the game on my birthday. Lets start with the cons: The framerate is terrible and its choppy, Also this game is short andA couple of months before the release of this game I had my doubts, THQ had gone bankrupt and the publishing had gone to Ubisoft who has had a bad year with disappointing, glitchy messes.     South Park Stick of Truth is by far the most entertaining game I have ever played. Have always been a huge fan of South Park, so the level of craziness and way out topics were not new to me. This game is definitely not for anyone that is easily offended. Every moment in the game feels like an actual episode of South Park. Well done Matt and Trey you have delivered.

You conquer the game way too quick and there is no motivation to play it again. I played on the game for 12-14 hours and conquered every quest available.     South Park RPG is definitely one of the funniest, AND fun games I've ever played. If you're a fan of the TV show, CHECK THIS GAME OUT NOW! Easy for beginners to video games to pick up and play. I'm a 28 year vet of gaming and I loved it. A true gem! The story is a bit short for my liking, but the game has 4 job classes to replay as. That being said, it has good replay value.

    This was a genius game! I love the show this had a great story, awesome combat system, and you feel like you are part of the show. I can't find one thing to complain about this is a great game. The game perfectly recreates the look of the show and the humor is still the same.

    BAD: Pretty easy even on the hardest difficulty; Incredibly easy to get money and all the stuff you buy is super cheap; There are some missing locations and buildings like Ike's room in Kyle's house, The South Park Mall, etc.(hopefully all accessible in a possible expansion or sequel); Some of the combat requires a one-button quick time event(unlike the regular combat where there are many buttons to press); Tutorials for spell casting took forever to complete because, it required perfect frequency whereas when you use it in exploring the frequency didn't have to be perfect

One thing that alot of people are probably annoyed is that several parts are sensored in Europe and Australia, mostly during an abduction sequence which I leave you to find out what I mean. The good thing is that they actually describe to you what happens through a screen
    which is just as funny but it probably would have been better if we could have just got the full game without the censors. The game play is quick and easy to pick up and is alot of fun when you use your character's special abilities which are great and Cartman's attacks are by far the best and funniest of them all. One of the only problems is that rpg fans will feel abit annoyed that it is just abit too easy but the majority of people will still enjoy regardless and you don't have to be a fan of the show to enjoy this and fans of the show will find dozens of references to the show which definitely encourages you to explore every last part of south park to find all of them. It deserves a 10 because it delivers to us every aspect we love in South Park: Absurd situations, dark and dirty comedy, references to a lot of episodes, a plot with a lot of funny twists. We can say we have a 10 hour South Park Episode with the possibility to explore the whole city. And this is awesome

    It looks and sounds like an episode of the show with some brilliant humour that is hilarious without ever overstepping the mark like the show has the tendency to do.

My few complaints are that the game has little to do after the story and side missions, except collectibles and exploration, and the story is kinda short. These are only minor complaints, because the game more than makes up for them.

    As a big South Park fun i waited really hard to get this game. Game is almost perfect but just that it used only 14 hours of time to play, maybe they will do whole season like this some time. 9/10

    This was a great game. I will say that I do not enjoy the show as much as others but this was a really funny game. I laughed non stop throughout the entire thing. The RPG format was fun and it added a lot to what would seem like a repetitive combat style, but it wasn't. The game was fun, it was funny, and the gameplay and meeting with everyone in South Park was a hell of a lot of fun.

It's rude, disgusting and sidesplitting funny and as an uber fan of the series I had the best few days exploring the town of South Park and meeting the characters to get them to be my facebok buddys. Downsides are it is way too short and so easy if you play set it to hardcore and it is still a walk in the park

    The Good- Funny as hell love the combat system.
    The bad- 16 hours or so for an rpg is very short low level cap (15) some slow down late game
    The ugly- Are some of those qte's even possible?

    This is one of the funniest games I have ever played and one that makes you laugh later in the day.

    That said, there isn't much replay value in this game and it is pretty short.

    Be interesting to see if there will be any future DLC.

If you want to go through a series of challenges and feel some sort of virtual accomplishment - nuh uh, not in this game. But what you do get, is an epic and adventurous trip in the South Park universe. Now I am a huge South Park fan so I can tell you this, that if you really enjoy the TV series, I highly advise you to get this game. It really doesn't matter if you are good in RPG's or not, this one's just too easy to fail at. But unfortunately this is where I would draw the line. Gameplay wise, there are 4 classes you can pick from to play either as a Fighter,Mage,Thief or the Jew. But that's it, there are only classes that define how unique you could get individually, besides cosmetic or statistical adjustments. There are Perks you can earn, depending on how many Facebook friends you have (in-game, not real-life, because then you would have no perks at all, derp a derp), but those can be earned on any class and maxed out. I was excited about all those mini-games you need to do before launching any attack (like smack A and D buttons repeatedly to get mice off from Princess Kenny for e.g.) before I realized, it is not fun after 100th attack. There is equipment, but its fairly general, like - look here's armor better than yours, wear it. So in other words, if you haven't realized yet - it's a super linear game. But random person who is reading this - listen, even if the gameplay is monotonous, the story will blow your mind away (provided you are a fan of South Park). Its basically small clusters of never to be aired South Park episodes, that you'll miss, unless you play this game (and no, there is no such thing as collected cutscenes that you could watch on YouTube, you cheater). I am starting to feel that the more I try to explain this to you, the more you keep asking yourself - well why can't i just watch someone's Let's Play series or those *cough* collected cutscenes and get on with my life. Because in the end, its a solitaire adventure you must pass through like a young jewish boy goes through his Bar mitzvah - its one step closer you get to become more mature South Park fan and of course, support the creators who are responsible for the messed up and lovable characters and universe theyve created. And besides, how could some 13-21 years old cracked up voice boy/guy/girl/gurl top a comedy joke on theyre 5k view per episode channel of Lets Play?     After waiting a long time it is finally here. I am glad to say this is the funniest game of all time. Alongside a very good combat system,and a story all South Park fans will enjoy. Stick of truth was worth the wait.

The way the game both tries to make the combat and magic "real" (fighting with baseball bats and lighting farts as magic) and the absurdity of the later game is at times genius. Furthermore while the show goes out of its way to mock current popular culture the game goes to the same lengths to incorporate, celebrate, and at times mock components of the great games of the past. However, This is game is not without its weaknesses for starters its length a full play through taking on all the side quests should not take more than 15 hours which is large compared to some of the great games released recently is still woefully short for an RPG. Also at times it feels like they are pushing the envelope for no other purpose than to push said envelope and the game goes over the top at times to a point that feels unnecessary and just their to create buzz.     It outright disturbs me that people are rating this game so highly, it is over priced garbage. I completed everything in the game at right under 16 hours and the mechanics are so stupid the last thing I wanted to do was play through it again. If you're on the fence about picking this game up, I suggest waiting til it's 20$ which is about the most it's worth.

    This is not the case.

    Don't get me wrong, the story is good, very good in comparsion to most video games but older Southpark episodes are better and have more depth.

    But on the other hand, this might be because I'm becoming an old grumpy man and have no idea what a Kardashian is and why I need to fight his/her fetus.

    So in the end, would I recommend buying Southpark Stick of Truth?
    If you are my position, an OK income and you really like Southpark, yes, buy it, even at "full" price.
    If you like Southpark but you're short on cash then I'd say wait until the price drops.
    If you don't like Southpark then you might be a gay fish and then just buy an aquarium instead.

    I've seen negative reviews about how this is "RPG-lite" and how about the game is too short, given that it is a RPG. Well, yes...it's technically a RPG, but it's a South Park game that is done in the genre of the RPG, which is a different concept. It's an enjoyable RPG and also a satire on RPGs at the same time, which is hard to pull off. To me, does the game succeed at what it wanted to do and was it a labor of love? Oh yes, most of the time, it does. The Canada portion is genius. The game follows the same logic as any South Park episode, in that there isn't really any, which makes for a very interesting first play through. You'll find your mouth gaping at some of the surprises and twists. Also, the game tests your puzzle-solving abilities often. They really spent the time to make the game rich and dense with adventure and open-world hunting.

    The combat is satisfying with a blend of strategy and resource management while testing your twitch skills. Getting Perfects is very satisfying and the humor in some of the attacks is very creative. Playing as the Mage is especially a hoot, IMO. The weapons and costumes are well done as are a wealth of add-on options for your gear. Which is where we get into some negatives....

    There is a lot of useless items you'll get to add to your gear and the menu system is itself clunky and swapping out the add-ons is kind of a pain, especially when at some points of the game when you get a new outfit it is immediately equipped, making you go back and swap it out if you don't like it. Also, while there are a LOT of different weapons, many of them are ones you won't use and when you like one, odds are you'll get a better one very soon, given how short the game is. Which is another negative. In a RPG with lots of gear and add-ons, you'll be swapping out this stuff a lot because the game has loot for a game twice the length of Stick of Truth. There could have been many more side-quests and some of them could be longer than they were. Were they thinking of a sequel when they made this game and purposely didn't add more content? To be fair after 17 seasons there may not be more new stuff to mine, but also to be fair, the kids dressing up and playing fantasy warfare and having to deal with a government conspiracy is comfortable, safe themes to use in what is the definitive South Park game. In general, yes, it's a South Park game and you can play through each of the four classes and try out different weapon/costume/add-on options for variety on those play throughs, but as a RPG, yes, naysayers, it's just too dang short to get the best score from me.

    Another negative is just how much naughtiness is in the game. Yes, it's a hallmark of the series but there are moments in this game that will disgust you in their attempt to try and get you to laugh like a fourth grader. Poo and sex and **** may fascinate Parker and Stone but some of us adults (it's rated Mature) don't think using bloody tampons as weapons is funny. Is their a correlation between having a puerile sense of humor and being global warming deniers?

    Also, while the game is "meta" in that it's a game and the kids are playing a fantasy game within the ame, the "meta" part also doesn't sustain itself. When the kids are fighting each other, it's clear that it is "pretend" but when you're actually having to fight real enemies it doesn't make a lot of sense, but I guess it's not supposed to. Of course the real joke of the game is the Stick of Truth is...just a stick. No spoiler warning needed, it's part of the joke. The kids are pretending, playing that it is real and of course that makes it real to them. As usual, they overdo it.

    Yes, a great game that needs DLC to add a few more quests and needed adult supervision when being made, but all in all, a laugh-fest throughout with great dialogue, interesting locales and weapons and costumes and I'll be playing as the Jew next because the humor will only be more-so.

I do laugh at the one liners and the ridiculous places you end up exploring. All in all, this is a game you must play if you are a south park fan. For all the RPG enthusiasts, you will find this timing turn based combat system amusing, but not a must play.… Expand

    It's like playing an episode of south park, but with even less censorship. (Except in Europe)

    The only reason I give it a 9 instead of a perfect 10 is because I bought it for pc, and I wish I'd bought it for ps3 because the PC mini games are broken.

    The Stick of Truth is easily one of the funniest games I've played in a long time. It's also one of the best licensed game ever created. The artwork is beautiful and the gameplay works pretty well all things considered. My biggest issue would be the length. I literally did everything there was to do in just under 13 hours.     In the beginning i had my concerns about this game. But after an hour i got completely hooked.
    It's been quite some time now since a game forced me to play it though just to find my self sad it has already ended.

    Stick of Truth has some great South Park content for fans but it's a weak game. The PS3 version stutters every time it's autosaving, which is usually every 30 seconds, so all the time. The graphics are mediocre, you can tell the difference between prerendered cutscenes immediately and the lines are jagged or way too bold sometimes.     The combat mechanics are fun 50% of the time and boring/annoying 50% of the time. The big problem with Stick of Truth is that the story is great, but it lacks content. I reached the max level hours before the end of the game, gaining useless EXP the rest of the time. It's too bad we're still not to the point where they can do something like this well.    … Expand

    In the end, though, what really carries The Stick of Truth along is its innocence, something that may surprise people who have read the stories about Euro censorship but is unlikely to come as a shock to fans of the show itself, which has always offset its raunchiness with an odd sweetness. This is, simply put, pleasant to play.
