Games Master UKApr 27, 2012Fun for a bit (with unlockable vehicles), but poor graphics and vehicle handling make this way too pricey for what it is. [June 2012, p.81]
-
Feb 29, 2012Overall, Smash and Survive is like a poor man's version of the Burnout series with a demolition derby aspect badly added. If you're looking for a diamond in the rough amongst all the other low budget downloadable games on the Playstation Network then we suggest you keep looking, because this isn't it.
-
Mar 4, 2012It may have something to offer to destruction derby fans and the low price point means it's hard to be too critical, but most players will still want to avoid a collision with this one.
-
Mar 13, 2012A mediocre and bad conceived game that results in a terrible game experience. It tries to mask its flaws offering lots of cars and tracks, and it also offers a multiplayer mode (both online and offline) that doesn't actually has anything new. It can be an attractive idea, but the execution is not.
-
Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaMay 7, 2012The vehicle handling is awful, the graphics are rudimentary and the soundtrack is a three-riff wonder. Keep your cash and avoid. [May 2012, p80]
-
Mar 14, 2012Smash this game if you want to survive.
-
Mar 9, 2012The absence of an online multiplayer and a bad overall presentation aren't Smash 'N' Survive's biggest problems. The bad gameplay is.
-
Mar 1, 2012This is nothing but a failed arena racer that should be avoided even by the most undiscerning crash junkie.
-
Official PlayStation Magazine BeneluxApr 2, 2012The game is stitched together like a ragged doll, leaves it up to player to figure out what the hell he or she is supposed to do, lacks any notion of originality and looks like a first generation PSone game. Avoid this one at all costs. [April 2012, p.10]
-
Mar 19, 2012There's good games, there's bad games and then there's Smash 'n Survive. We've tried to find something good in Smash 'n Survive and failed miserably, often waking up at night while screaming in terror, thinking of stale PS2 graphics, uninspired gameplay options and a terrible amount of bugs.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKApr 30, 2012The AI appears to have all the intellect of an overcooked marrow, which might very well make a more appealing videogame. [May 2012, p.116]
-
Mar 12, 2012I hate the idea of any studio producing a flop and having to close, so I hope this doesn't happen to Version 2. But next time I hope they spend a bit more on polishing whatever game they work on. When it comes to Smash 'N' Survive though, gamers should avoid it like the Austin Allegro, because you'd never buy that car, right?
-
Mar 5, 2012Unfortunately, there are barely any redeeming qualities in Smash 'N' Survive. Despite a few visual perks, the gameplay, and thereby foundation, of Smash 'N' Survive is dysfunctional with huge implications on the rest of the experience.
-
Feb 29, 2012Seriously, this "game" - and I use this term lightly - is $29.90 on the NZ PSN store. If it was $2.99 I could possibly cut it some slack but, to be honest, it's not even worth the bandwidth to download it.
-
Feb 27, 2012Despite having the foundations of a decent vehicular combat game firmly in place and boldly on display, Smash 'N' Survive is nonetheless a shambling mess whose solid - albeit well worn - premise can't offset its technical inadequacies, disastrously unresponsive handling or the tragic lack of options available.
-
Mar 4, 2012Weapons seem hopelessly under powered.
