Playstation Official Magazine UKSep 5, 2011This is a rugby relic from a bygone age. [Oct 2011, p.116]
-
Sep 2, 2011Everything about this game screams "minimal effort".
-
May 29, 2012Unfortunately Rugby World Cup 2011 is not worth the money it costs – not even for a rugbyplayer or -fan.
-
Games Master UKSep 25, 2011Laughable next to other sports titles, like FIFA, despite being technically competent. [Nov 2011, p.91]

DarkStationSep 30, 2011Rugby Would Cup 2011 is a poor game. Poorly made, poorly executed, and lackluster title, that causes an insatiable need to cleanse oneself after being played. It's not a top tier game, and shouldn't be regarded as one, so just leave it be and no one will get hurt.
-
Aug 23, 2011Rugby World Cup 2011 feels almost like the "lite" version of a more fully-featured game - as though you should get this for a pittance before paying an additional fee to unlock the rest, like so many iPhone games. Only in this case there's nothing more to get - other than a refund.
-
Play UKSep 16, 2011Not the worst sports game ever made, and capable of producing some enjoyment in multiplayer mode. But it won't last, will get annoying, and you will get very bored. [Issue#209, p.94]
-
PSM3 Magazine UKOct 4, 2011Technically competent, but a woeful simulation of a sport consistently ignored by gaming. This won't help... [Nov 2011, p.107]
-
Aug 27, 2011Limited licences, stripped features, and disappointing presentation make Rugby World Cup 2011 disappointing to even the most ardent fans of the sport.
-
Oct 20, 2011In a year that has seen plenty of top-notch sports games, this is arguably the worst of the lot.
-
Sep 9, 2011Even though Rugby World Cup 2011 feels like an "old" title gameplay-wise and in terms of production values, the not-so demanding enthusiasts may find it to fit their liking, but maybe not as a full-price purchase. We'd rather wait for a less opportunistic version with better visuals and more gameplay choices to be completely satisfied.

Sep 1, 2011At the end of the day, it is frustrating enough for New Zealand sports fans and gamers that rugby and cricket titles are so few and far between, and that they will never be made on the sort of budgets that Madden or Pro Evolution Soccer enjoy. To then be presented with such a cynical, half-hearted effort as Rugby World Cup masquerading as a legitimate contender with a full-retail price tag only adds insult to injury.
