Oct 21, 2011Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is a blast to play. A title with a silly premise, satisfying action, plenty of content (15 solo chapters and 10 co-op) and a first rate game presentation is hard not to cluck about.
-
Oct 17, 2011The game is incredibly polished, and all of the components fit very well together, but they are all components that other games have introduced with a slightly different twist. They have clearly mastered the action platformer, now I would like to see them take it further and try something new.

Pelit (Finland)Jan 10, 2012An entertaining and hilariously violent 2D platformer slash action adventure. Gameplay-wise it doesn't do anything new, but what is does, it does it well. [Jan 2012]
-
Oct 19, 2011Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is a pretty cool PSN game. After Rochard, this is the next PlayStation exclusive game that offers satisfying and cool arcade action. It's damn fun and cheap so if you like action-arcade, you schould try Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken.

Games Master UKDec 17, 2011It works pretty well. [Jan 2012, p.91]

Nov 4, 2011This is just the kind of game to remind you what smaller, imaginative developers can do while others are focused on big explosions and less personality.
-
Oct 31, 2011Ratloop Asia offers us a nice conversion of their web title. The differences aren't legion, but anyway, the game was good. The blend of puzzle, action, dark humor and good music is spot on. A very nice little game to boost up your mood.
-
Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)Oct 29, 2011Touchy controls made for a few frustrating segments, but clever level design, interesting gameplay mechanics, and two-player co-op missions make it easy to forgive the game's issues. [Dec 2011, p.69]
-
Oct 26, 2011While its Flash origins are noticeable, the work with the conversion to PS3 game is remarkable. Rocketbirds is a solid 2D action full of good touches, which offers good audiovisual quality, great variety, cool story and plenty of content between the main and the cooperative campaigns.
-
Oct 24, 2011With a stunning graphics, an amazing sound, an exciting storyline and a gameplay very successful, Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is a title highly recommended to all lovers of the genre.
-
Oct 18, 2011Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is probably one of the most interesting, addictive and funny platformer available on the PSN, with a stunning art direction and an elegant voiceover. But in an Autumn like this one, full of triple-A IPs with oceanic fandoms, Hardboiled will probably doomed to be the right chicken at the wrong time.
-
Oct 28, 2011A good game that evolves the original's formula to improve. The only problem we find is its excessive simplicity, combining only shooting sections with simple puzzles. It is a fun game, with a very retro gameplay, but won't make history.
-
Nov 29, 2011All in all, Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is a good game, but a great art direction, narrative, and fantastic soundtrack can only go so far to counterbalance a short campaign with average gameplay.
-
Oct 21, 2011Artistically interesting and eclectic, this update of Rocketbirds knows how to tell a story, too bad its gameplay lacks a bit in depth.
-
Oct 18, 2011Rocketbirds is a rare PSN game in that it has a Platinum Trophy. I know that caught some of you Trophy Hunters' attention out there.
-
Oct 31, 2011Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is an interesting, addictive and funny platformer for PSN.
-
Oct 19, 2011Actually pretty fun, and considering that the game is only twelve dollars on the PlayStation Network, it's a pretty good deal if you are looking for a 2D run and gun shooter. It's no Contra, that's for sure, but it's tongue-in-cheek, goofy, and generally enjoyable.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKDec 3, 2011Feels like Rambo for poultry. [Christmas 2011, p.104]
-
Nov 7, 2011Battling chickens and penguins is a lot of fun. The only problem with it is that it is too easy. That and the overall lack of originality make for a mediocre game that does not stand out among its contemporaries.
-
Nov 7, 2011Not a new step in the genre, but Rocketbirds shows a refined formula that works beautifully.
-
Nov 4, 2011From a sum of its parts standpoint, I probably shouldn't have liked it as much as I did, but it is a satisfying diversion that I do recommend.
-
Official PlayStation Magazine BeneluxDec 29, 2011Although you kill loads of evil penguins along the way, the gameplay is mainly centered around rather basic environment puzzles that get boring quite quickly. [Nov 2011, p.98]
-
Oct 31, 2011Contra and Metal Slug are the KFCs of the 2D shooter world. And this game is literally like hardboiled chicken–enjoyable for the price, but is no gourmet dish.
-
Oct 19, 2011Overly basic combat and puzzles keep Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken from taking flight.
-
Oct 19, 2011Although the gameplay mechanics are solid, there is no challenge whatsoever even on the highest difficulty setting.
-
Oct 17, 2011While Hardboiled Chicken loses out on some fundamentals, it does get a fair bit right. Best enjoyed in bite-sized chunks, players can find a lot to enjoy if they're simply looking for something to pick up and play. If you're a fan of side-scrolling shooters and have a weekend to spare, Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken may be just what you're looking for.
-
Oct 27, 2011The dark storyline and cut-scenes, the rock-based soundtrack and the occasional cool gameplay moments do save Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken from being a completely forgettable, average experience.
-
Nov 8, 2011For being a flash animation that took three years to develop and then lose all other meaning behind it's saddening gameplay and all around lack of sheen Rocketbirds doesn't get a recommendation from me.
