Its on-rails style gameplay and active camera creates a more immersive Chronicles survival experience. As in the last installment, this is a first-person game with extreme shooting gameplay and interactive pathways. Filling in many of the missing pieces of storyline that were not covered in the original Umbrella Chronicles, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles gives hardcore fans the chance to re-live some of the most classic moments of the Resident Evil franchise, while allowing new players to take advantage of the intense action-horror experience only possible on the Wii. Gamers can choose to take on their enemies with the help of an A.I.-controlled character or enlist the help of a friend to fight via two-player co-op. Adding new dimension and strategy to the arcade-style gameplay in the Chronicles experience, the new Evade system will utilize the Wii Remote for a more intense experience when fighting enemies. Shaky camera work is the mortal enemy of the on-rails shooter, and it raises its ugly head far too often here. [September 2012, p75]

The story of the game is divided into chapters such as Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil 2, where you roam around ( On Rails might I add) shooting every one of those creepy crawlers straight from the classic series itself. Not only do you face similar enemies such as lickers, hunters, zombie dogs and such, but at the end of each section awaits a boss and trust me whatever it may be it is angry and wants to kill you. What makes this game really stand out for me, is that even though it is a rail gun game, it never strays from feeling like an authentic Resident Evil experience. The pacing can be slow and eerie, your knife sucks as usual, and the pistol and other guns sound exactly like the original which really gave me a nostalgic feeling even though I had never played this before. Although the standard controller works just fine, if you really want to have the full experience, I highly recommend this game to be used with either the Move, Move pistol, or sharpshooter. If you are a fan of move gun games, or Resident Evil, I strongly suggest you pick this up. There is lots to discover in this fun horror shooter. Expand

It really does make it a lot less difficult and frustrating.

I do think that this would have been better with the proper controller instead of a PS4 Dual Shock. And the camera was absolutely nuts most of the time, flying all over the place to make aiming more difficult. There were a few points where we were a bit stuck, but overall it was a fun experience.

The storytelling has beenDarkside Chronicles is essentially Resident Evil 2 and Code Veronica with a new side story added in the mix. The storytelling has been drastically impoved by a more dramatic retelling of the old games.

Playing through it never felt like Capcom was trying to sucker us in with nostalgia and really feels like there is real love put into this. Granted, it is a light game/on rails shooter, and does a better job than any other in its genre simply because of its overall presentation.

If you've been itching to see a glimpse of what a Resident Evil 2 remake would look like, here you are! Besides, God knows if we'll ever get one!

For the fans, its well worth the time!
