Sep 26, 2011In so many ways, on many levels, Renegade Ops is one of the most refreshingly enthusiastic action games of the year.
-
Sep 16, 2011Renegade Ops feels like the model of a fantastic downloadable game designed to the strengths of digital distribution. It's big, loud, sort of dumb, and a ton of fun because it focuses on one thing, and does that one thing exceedingly well. For $15, what more do you want?
-
Oct 5, 2011With stylish motion comics and ridiculous levels, Renegade Ops is a fantastic co-op game that you will find yourself playing with friends again and again.
-
Sep 23, 2011Renegade Ops uses simple but effective gameplay mechanics, which will be liked for those looking for an spiritual succesor of Jackal, and also shoot'em up lovers. The game is short in duration, but its cooperative modes compensate for it.
-
Official PlayStation Magazine BeneluxDec 29, 2011In this top-down twin-stick shooter everything, from tanks to trains, has to be destroyed. And you know what? As simple as that may sound, it is a lot of fun. [Nov 2011, p.96]
-
Games Master UKOct 23, 2011A fast, furious shooter, packed with high-quality detail - all at a knock-down price. [Dec 2011, p.79]
-
Oct 3, 2011Explosions, explosions, explosions… You either love them or hate them. If you belong to the first category, than this is your game. If not, well, then you're better off elsewhere.
-
Sep 21, 2011Renegade Ops is an excellent old-fashioned action game.
-
Sep 20, 2011Reminds us a video game doesn't need much to be fun. Give us a war machine and stuff to blow up and we'll soon be enjoying ourselves. This operation looks great and provides lots of amusing, '80s action movie thrills.
-
Sep 20, 2011If you're looking for some good, old-fashioned devastation, you could do a lot worse spending time as a renegade.
-
PSM3 Magazine UKNov 13, 2011A simple idea, but well-executed and lots of polish. [Dec 2011, p.105]
-
Sep 19, 2011For the price ($20AUD), Renegade Ops is a fun and mindless game of violence that contains a tight control system, great environments to explore and good old fashioned twin stick shooter fun.
-
Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaMar 6, 2012It's all very fast-paced too, and rewards players who opt for the highest difficulty, but then it's just a fun knockabout when you drop it down to 'casual'. Soloists always have the highscore to keep them hooked, and it's surprisingly addictive. A winner all round, really. [Dec 2011, p81]
-
Oct 26, 2011Renegade Ops is probably a game that you want to have in your collection to enjoy a relaxing and interesting adventure or, at any time, to have fun in cooperative sessions with friends.
-
Oct 9, 2011With tight vehicle controls, impressive presentation and explosive dual-stick shooter gameplay, Renegade Ops is a highly entertaining and well-priced downloadable game that can be enjoyed by all.
-
Oct 4, 2011Renegade Ops doesn't aim to push any boundaries or blow our minds in any substantial way; its sole purpose is to give gamers an incredibly fun game they can share with their friends. It might not be something you remember a year from now but this is definitely an experience you should check out, if only because there isn't anything out there with this level of polish or a personality this nutty and consistently fun.
-
Oct 3, 2011In a tired and overworked genre, Renegade Ops steps up to the plate with fun and fast-paced vehicular mayhem that lets you and your friends blast your way through nine levels. The story isn't worth your time, but that's easy to overlook.
-
Sep 29, 2011Are you looking for an arcade title where you can blow up buildings and kill countless of enemies in a campaign mode that will take around six hours to complete? Do you love screen filling explosions? If the answer is yes to both questions, then look no further, because Renegade Ops is just the right game for you.
-
Sep 23, 2011Renegade Ops is a fairly conservative game, in terms of scope and originality; where it succeeds is in its execution of a well-worn game type and by transporting its players back to a simpler time.
-
Sep 23, 2011Avalanche Studios polished its deliciously retro title, and delivers an action-loaded game with beautiful visuals, fun physics and a large dose of fun, in solo or coop alike. For that price, the 6 hours of play feel like a genuine and worthy heir to the old Desert and Jungle Strike games, with added thrill.
-
Sep 23, 2011Renegade Ops is an absolute blast in any sense of the word. The great graphics, weighty handling and character upgrades create a fantastic, explosive and entertaining experience, and the chaotic multiplayer is the most fun you'll have in a game in a long time.
-
Sep 21, 2011Explosive combat and terrific controls make Renegade Ops a great vehicular dual-stick shooter.
-
Sep 21, 2011But for a reasonably priced downloadable game where you're driving/flying around in tiny vehicles, Renegade Ops certainly doesn't feel small. In fact, it's genuinely one of the most entertaining and polished action titles I've played on a digital platform.
-
Sep 15, 2011Renegade Ops may not be a deep story driven game with a lot of variety, but it's surly fun to kick Inferno's ass with one of four differnt characters in single player or the local and online multiplayer modes. The controls take a little getting used to, but things like weapon upgrades, comic style videos and the overall gameplay are pretty cool.
-
Play UKNov 18, 2011Great fun in small doses, but the missions soon become a bit of a grind and as such your enjoyment is restricted to short bursts. [Issue#211, p.99]
-
Oct 10, 2011Okay, so it's short and a bit repetitive, but you do get to blow a hell of a lot of stuff up.
-
Sep 14, 2011There are bullets, missiles, and exploding vehicles everywhere. It feels a lot like you are playing "The Expendables" in top-down shooter form. In my opinion, the game is definitely worth a try, and it only gets better once you add your friends to the mix.
-
Nov 4, 2011Renegade Ops is a fun, if repetitive, vehicular twin-stick shooter that looks great, has a satisfyingly dumb story, and lots of cool explosions. It's a little weak solo, but you could do far worse than spend six hours with a buddy, gleefully blowing things up together.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKNov 13, 2011Buttery-slick controls. [Dec 2011, p.91]
-
Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)Oct 7, 2011When cheesy '80s action flicks dream of being chaotic top-down, twin-stick shooters with motion-comic cutscenes, they dream about being Renegade Ops. [Nov 2011, p.87]
-
Sep 26, 2011Quotation forthcoming.
-
Sep 19, 2011A fast-paced, non-stop downloadable title, that makes sure to leave everything it has on the table. Fantastic environments, explosions, and weapons make for an experience that is fun to play solo but better with friends. However, the game is around 3-4 hours to complete and the online is the same maps from the single player that can become way too easy.
-
Oct 13, 2011The problem with Renegade Ops is that it's all too brief; we're talking a few hours max.
-
Sep 22, 2011A brief hit of retro goodness that loses its enchantment all too soon. If you're looking for a demanding blast from the past, Renegade Ops will sort you out for a week or two; just don't expect to be playing it for much longer than that.
