Quest for Booty is a shallow extension of Tools of Destruction. The core of what makes the Ratchet and Clank games great is still there and still I recommend this for any R&C fan. Where old R&C fans will be disappointed is there is very little gameplay beyond the first play through and said gameplay is very linear. There are almost no hidden collectibles besides a few weapon power-ups. Quest for Booty is a shallow extension of Tools of Destruction. Quest for Booty is not exactly a game by itself; it is more a bridge between Tools of Destruction and A Crack in Time. Still, it is a great game and a cheap test-drive for those who are on the fence about the Ratchet & Clank series. It is fun, the graphics are colorful and the soundtrack is brilliant (with many Pirates of the Caribbean tweaked tracks). And the pirate theme really works for the series. Progression is pretty different from the series' standards: there is nothing to buy, nothing to evolve: you just go through the game enjoying the story and getting answers on the mysterious end of Tools of Destruction. And in the end you get a nice surprise. Quest for Booty feels more like an extension of the previous game than a game by itself, but it's still a very fun and well-built experience. Expand

I agree with IGN's review of the game on this. Its a bitesized chunk of Ratchet gamplay bujt because its been shortend its missing something. Its hard to pinpoint because in theory its got all the makings of a great ratchet game but somehow just doesn't get there. It could just be a lack of variety and charm that made the others great. Not bad for a very short game. Its pretty much some simple puzzles with new ways to use your wrench. the next full blooded R&C should be all tools of destruction was and more with these few new additions.

    Was it fun?

    Yeah, it was okay.

    Are there any similar games?

The Ratchet & Clank series is just a 3-D platformer but with guns.

    Would you play it again?

No, not this Ratchet & Clank.

    Any Complaints?

It was too short, 7 levels and each level probably took me about a half hour each. Also the game was not beginner friendly. Meaning, if you have never played a Ratchet and Clank game, you probably would have been lost as to what you should do next.

How many hours did you play it?

Maybe 4 hours, its really short.

Wow this game was short. i expected a lot more out of Insomniac for this series. The game looks great and is always enjoyable, but the puzzles were too simple and the diversity (even for a Ratchet and Clank game) was minimal. Maybe $10!

Nothing particularly wrong with it but it suffers terribly from its length, as most games like this do. It is merely an add on for Tools of Destruction, a masterpiece, so it was going up against tough competition. If only it had been a serious and long game, then they may have been able to integrate better and newer mechanics than stick with the old formula.

The game is much too short to be one of those high grade games. There isn't even collectible items, and levelling up items is not as good as in the other ratchet and clank games, they all start at level three, so it isn't as good. A better idea would be to make either Tools of Destruction longer, or Crack in time longer. At least the game is only fifteen dollars, still, it does feel a bit overpriced. Since you can switch difficulties in game, you could beat the game on your first try, and replayability would be limited; I finished half the game on hard already, so the difficulty could be higher as well in the game. Maybe it's because they're part of the PS3 'Essentials' range, however it leaves me somewhat unsatisfied. Quest for Booty has little variety, the entire game is based on a single planet with either dark caverns, an island or pirate ships. Pick one. The weapons are simply recycled from Tools of Destruction, start at V3 and feature no upgrade component (although their final upgrades are hidden in the world for you to find). The game offers 3 levels of difficulty, but unlike Ratchet 2's difficulty, imo the finest difficulty in the game thus far, Quest for Booty's 'Hard' difficulty is akin to Deadlocked's in that it simply turns enemies into damage sinks and their attacks into nuclear explosions. On the upside, the short length of the game means that there isn't time for weapons to lose their relevance, staying formidable right to the end. Overall, Quest for Booty brings nothing new to the table, and is rather over priced for what it is, my final score reflects that, however that aside, it doesn't do too much wrong, and I must stress, despite it's overall scores from myself an others, IT ISN'T A BAD GAME. It's just short, overpriced and more of the same. It's also worth playing for plot reasons, as it continues on from Tools of Destruction and leads into A Crack In Time. Buy this, but buy it cheap. A bite sized adventure that plays a lot like Tools of Destruction, only this game is more puzzle and platforming based rather than explosive action. The game is fun; however, there is little to no replay value and the game's length doesn't help that either.

One of the best games in the PSN, fun gameplay, astounding visuals, and got some good atmosphere. Its gameplay has a lot of puzzles. If you are new to the series, I'd totally recommend it to you!

Whilst Quest for Booty is a fun game and it catches the spirit of the Ratchet and Clank franchise, it feels more like an add on of Tools of Destruction. The game is so short and similar to it's predecessor that it unfortunately feels like expendable in terms of the series.

Basically the same thing as Tools of Destruction, NOT in a good way. The story barely adds anything to the saga, the game is extremely short, and every weapon (not much) is also taken from ToD.

Quest for Booty has been designed as a quick four-hour experience and it feels shortchanged because of it. Though its shooting and platforming sequences are fun and of high production, it still seems like there's something missing.

Quest for Booty's a fine addition to the Ratchet & Clank world, but what should've been a love letter to fans ends up serving better as a taste of what outsiders are missing -- and, as a fan, that makes me just a little bit sad.
  3. Though Quest for Booty, again, isn't a bad game, it's not a good Ratchet game, and in the end that makes for a slightly disappointing and possibly even overpriced offering. With zero replay value and only a few new tricks, this Quest isn't worth taking.
