The sixty dollar price tag is a bit much to take, especially if you already spent sixty dollars on the original two years ago, but if Persona 4 Arena has been a staple in your fighting game library, Ultimax gives you more than enough content to satisfy you for another two years, and hopefully with patches and DLC it will get even better.

Newcomers will like Persona 4 Arena Ultimax for being the most complete edition of the game.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax offers good gameplay mechanics, interesting characters and exciting combat moments. A nice range of modes to improve our style that, unfortunately, seems quite hard to be used in an empty online mode.

Those interested in Persona 4 Arena: Ultimax for the fighting will be satisfied with what's on offer, but narrative fans curious about what happens to the gang before the next official Persona RPG debuts will likely feel burned. The story side is a tedious, thudding disappointment compared to the stellar stuff the series usually delivers.

The fighting game here is fun and engaging, but its wrapper is so, so flawed.

Superior in every way to the first Part this game brings us a better define fighting system and a lot of new character and adding ShadowSuperior in every way to the first Part this game brings us a better define fighting system and a lot of new character and adding Shadow version to a lot of the originals. The story even though it was its ups and downs and pretty consistent and with a good length (for a fighting game). The fighting system is a 2D fighter which has really beautiful sprite animations and great character. If you are a fan of the Persona series this is a must buy, if you are a fan of fighting games this game offer a good depth to pros and an easy to understand system for beginners.
I will be giving it a 10 because i love fighting games and love the Persona series so for me its one of the best games of the year.

This is a Persona game made by Persona fans for Persona fans and not for fighting game fans. While the fighting system itself is prettyThis is a Persona game made by Persona fans for Persona fans and not for fighting game fans. While the fighting system itself is pretty decent, the main draw of this game is to give a detailed epilogue to P4:Golden. If you have not played P4:Golden, specifically that version of Persona 4, and Persona 3, you will not get the maximum potential that is brought to the table with this game. It truly is a Persona game made specifically for the fans.
After the first P4: Arena came out a few years ago, people wondered why they would release a fighting game in the Persona franchise. This game was specifically built as a way to connect P3 and P4 together with huge amounts of fanservice for both games. You will not like this game as much without having played both games, specifically the FES version of P3 and P4:Golden. The star of the show is the story, which is easily the longest storyline, in terms of length, given to any fighting game probably ever. The two main storylines will easily run upwards of 20 hours to complete with meaningful pieces of story along the way. The fighting takes a backseat to what happens in the main story. The story is good and it's really nice to see some more from these characters, especially coming from an AVID Persona fan. The characters are great and they are built up properly but the game does assume you already know who these people are, at least from the first P4 Arena game.
The fighting mechanics themselves are ok. This game will not take any players away from the Street Fighter series, nor will it ever be played in any official tournament setting. But it's well done and builds on what went well from the first game. While there are still some balance issues, the fighting isn't half bad and won't scare away from Persona fans who don't like fighting games.
The main problem I have with the game is the pay wall. To get any new characters or additions to the storyline, you have to buy them. I dislike games that force you to purchase an additional content without letting you earn it in some capacity. There's a whole chapter to the main storyline that needs to be purchased and I don't like that at all.
In the end, this game was meant to be played on the Playstation and the game was specifically built for it's storyline. It's a wonderful closure to one of THE best games of all time and will easily hold over anyone waiting for Persona 5 to come out next year sometime. But, know that this game was definitely designed for Persona 4 fans specifically. If you didn't like Persona 4 for whatever reason, stay far, far away from this game.
