NBA Live 10

A game that features numerous upgrades guaranteed to please hoops fans who love rainbow threes and rim rattling dunks. On top of that, it has one of the most impressive sounding crowds this side of FIFA 10, and those 20,000 screaming maniacs make all the difference.

It’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed playing an NBA Live title as much as this one. EA Canada has taken huge steps to create one of the most impressive and enjoyable basketball titles in recent years, and if they’re able to continue and improve upon the core mechanics they’ve instituted this year, Live just might usurp NBA 2K’s throne in another year or two.

Some of the finishes are amazing to watch.

What is on offer is probably a series high and it begs the question as with many of EA’s titles right now, what can be done next?

NBA Live 10 looks great, and finally plays great as well. The Dynamic Season mode is the highlight of the game, and is worth the price of admission by itself.

It’s not without its quirks and imperfections, but NBA Live 10 gets enough of the fundamentals right that it’s hard not to be excited about EA has in store for next season.

There’s just a tremendous amount of satisfaction that comes with the perfectly executed offensive play, or when successfully defending a tough player.

NBA Live 10 is a fantastic upgrade to the series as it focused more on what was wrong with previous versions instead of trying to substitute them with more features.

NBA Live 10 has shortened the gap separating it from the winner’s glory… from NBA 2K10, that is. Its major assets are once again the incredible graphics and the excellent audio. Gameplay wise too, this is an excellent game and the feeling is that its rival is not so far after all. But all we can say for now is: maybe next year.

NBA Live 10 can easily stand toe to toe with NBA 2K10, a franchise that now no longer holds complete sway over the genre. The flow of the games, the resourcefulness of the AI, and the immersion factor provided from the fantastically dynamic crowd, all serve to make this an absolutely worthwhile pickup.

At the end, NBA Live 10 is a decent basketball arcade simulation that only slightly offers the world of sport sims something new. This current version is more about online features, however the increased speed and maneuvers of the gameplay does take this franchise to the next level.

NBA Live 10 offers huge improvements in its gameplay side, and looks and sounds great. A welcome upgrade for the franchise.

NBA Live 10, while it certainly has issues that people are going to gripe about, is exactly what the series needed to fire up its dwindling fan base and add new players alike. The gameplay is nicely refined and emulates real basketball with much greater success than past games.

NBA Live 10 is a clear upgrade from last years edition and is another step in the reclaiming the crown of king of the court.

Basketball gamers know what they want and it seems like the step back taken by EA Canada last year is making sense this year. Improving on last year’s new features, refining the gameplay mechanics, not adding anything major and removing what wasn’t necessary, it resumes what NBA Live 10 is. Fans of the franchise will certainly love this year’s game and basketball gamers in general will spend a few quality hours with it.

EA is back on track with this franchise and next year we should see even more improvements. Whether or not you'll be playing this instalment until then is debateable. As much as I have enjoyed my experience with NBA Live 10, it isn't going to hold my attention for much longer, save the local multiplayer.

NBA Live 10 has made some serious strides to catch up to the competition, giving many fans a reason to return to the NBA Live flock once more.

NBA Live returns to the court with a solid outing this year

As a NBA fan I nearly felt like home. If there wouldn’t be an alternative game I would recommend this game to everybody – but there is an alternative one called NBA 2K10.

NBA Live 10 proves that you don’t have to be a basketball fan to like this sort of games. Especially because of the accessible gameplay, everyone can enjoy this great basketball title.

In the end NBA Live 10 may have the glamorous look of a basketball superstar, but it still needs to round out its game to steal the crown of best hardcore hoops game from its rival.

Dynamic DNA seasons are a great addition to the franchise, but NBA Live is not quite a championship contender.

I enjoyed myself while playing Live 10. It's slick and mostly captures the feel of NBA basketball. I hope that next season, Live takes the new, inexperienced player into account and helps them learn to enjoy the game as much as the hardcore player.

Sure, it still lacks some precision in the control of the players and the defense, as well as an artificial intelligence that's not so competitive, but if you are looking for alley oops and fakes, they're in there.

Another year, another Live… and a little extra. At least Live Run might keep the online play interesting.
