Dec 21, 2010Though this game is a visceral and grand experience, I can't get away from the fact that it was supposed to be a free pack-in, and instead they've slapped a $50 price tag on it. It would've surely been the best pack-in of all time. As a stand-alone retail game, I can still recommend it, but only for fans of the NBA Jam series.

Nov 19, 2010If you were waiting for all available versions of NBA Jam to hit stores, the addition of Online make this the version of choice. On the other hand, if you don't plan on playing online, I would recommend picking-up the Wii-version and experiencing the game how it was initially meant to be played.
-
Nov 23, 2010If you loved the old-fashioned 2-on-2 style pioneered by the very first Jam titles, and didn't like any of the series departures since then, you'll love this one. Yes, regardless of price.

Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaJan 25, 2011NBA Jam always succeeded by being better with friends, and that hasn't changed. There's an updated remix mode with a few new modes that are more gimmick and curious distractions than serious contenders for your time. You'll get the most amount of playtime out of the standard mode, especially when you're really dominating a game against your mates. [February 2011 p78]

Dec 19, 2010EA Sports NBA Jam is a great revival of a classic franchise. If you were a fan then there is no reason to pass up on this offering as it brings just enough to the table to make it worth your while.
-
Dec 17, 2010This is a highly recommended, high-octane, action-paced sports game that will definitely satisfy basketball fans but also sports fans in general.
-
Dec 16, 2010At a budget price you get exactly what you pay for. It is the original NBA Jam given a lick of HD paint, while retaining all the charisma of the original. If you want a Basketball fix but find the likes of NBA 2K11 too complicated and complex to pick up an play then you can't go wrong with this.
-
Nov 23, 2010The standard gameplay in NBA Jam is insanely entertaining, and if you've got a group of players ready to play at your side, you'll easily get $50 of enjoyment out of it.
-
Nov 29, 2010NBA Jam is a good remake on the PlayStation 3 that is easy to learn and really entertaining.
-
Dec 27, 2010NBA Jam does an excellent job of bringing the classic title up-to-date for the modern gaming audience, though its simplistic gameplay may ultimately detract those looking for a deeper basketball experience.
-
Nov 23, 2010NBA Jam is not only a great nostalgic look at the court, but it offers an enjoyable experience for those who just love breaking the rules.
-
Nov 20, 2010NBA Jam is on fire! The classic arcade basket game has returned and better and ever. The variety of game modes add much more depth to the fun and simple game we always loved in the 90s and it even includes multiplayer through Xbox Live and PSN. Incredible dunks and amazing jumps are waiting for you in their 2 vs 2 matches, you only have to say... BOOM SHAKA LAKA!
-
Nov 19, 2010If you have friends to play with and any measure of nostalgia for the arcade original, there's no doubt that you'll get every penny's worth from NBA Jam. If you have plans to play it alone or against random strangers, there are better options out there -- and it doesn't even take calculus to figure that out.
-
Nov 17, 2010NBA Jam is a disappointing retail package, mainly because it would've been one of the greatest Xbox Live or PlayStation Network releases of all-time. As it stands, this $50 disc adds a few modes to the Jam that you know and love, but at the end of the day the reason that you'll invest is the classic gameplay, not the Remix Modes.
-
Nov 23, 2010Well done! The classic arcade gameplay returns.
-
Dec 11, 2010NBA Jam is a funny game that lets the player play 2 versus 2 in completely over the top basketball matches. This game is all about fun and that's the strongest part of the game. The graphical style is also unique and fun. You got the realistic NBA 2K11 game and the not so realistisch NBA Jam game, your choice!
-
Jan 4, 2011NBA Jam meets most of its expectations. The game is very entertaining however it must be said that this should have been a downloadable game. The game just doesn't feel like a full retail game but remains amusing nonetheless.
-
Dec 11, 2010NBA Jam is a fastpaced and entertaining take on the arcade basketball genre and it feels slick and well executed, but there's one problem. The game feels like a PSN or Xbox Live title with it's limited content.
-
Dec 1, 2010NBA Jam arrives on PS3 with a swanky HD makeover and modern players, though the lack of any new compelling gameplay features makes it a little hard to justify the $50 price tag.
-
Dec 1, 2010At the end of the day, NBA Jam is a solid reboot that does a good job of keeping to the franchise's roots, while adding a few new game modes to the table.
-
Nov 30, 2010Just the same game we already played on Wii with the addition of online multiplayer. Maybe it would've been one of the greatest downloadable games of the last 4 years, but as a retail title, it's a little bit disappointing.
-
Nov 26, 2010With the full complement of players, NBA Jam is great fun in short bursts, but it's impossible not to feel that EA has swamped a simple game with extraneous modes desperately to try and justify a retail release.
-
Nov 25, 2010Those who miss the orinal NBA Jam, or simply want an arcade basket title won't be dissapointed by this new version. In retains all the original's elements and respects its formula, adding up several game modes. It may surprise you for the number of hours you can keep playing.
-
Nov 17, 2010This rim-rocking arcade classic returns, and though it's pretty shallow, it's still an awful lot of fun.
-
Play UKDec 29, 2010Occasionally thrilling, and lovingly reproduced. [Issue#200, p.92]
-
Jan 28, 2011NBA Jam is a lot of fun to play, especially with friends both online and off. The game plays exactly like the original in terms of gameplay, which was the series' strong point. EA has gone to great lengths to ensure that the strengths of the original has remained in tact.
-
Jan 3, 2011Overall, NBA Jam is passable as quick pick up and play game, but offers very little for players looking for something to really sink their teeth into, NBA Jam is best played with friends as the AI is infuriating.
-
Jan 1, 2011A classic example of a game with a lot of great ideas that loses its focus. With a little more polish, we could have had something special here. What we end up with is a title that air balls some of those wide open jumpers.
-
Games Master UKFeb 18, 2011A neat little slice of nostalgia. [Feb 2011, p.94]
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKFeb 16, 2011Buy it and it'll keep you amused for an hour every few weeks. [Jan 2011, p.118]
-
Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)Jan 6, 2011We can't stop wondering how we'd feel about the game is EA had ungraded Jam with modern gameplay fineries. Or better yet, priced it more appropriately. [Jan 2011, p.85]
-
Nov 30, 2010So while the core game remains as entertaining as ever, what we've got here is essentially a fun little multiplayer-focused game which EA has burdened with a cache of tiresome, superfluous and unnecessary bonus modes, the overall focus designed around squeezing out a full-blown retail release.
-
PSM3 Magazine UKJan 13, 2011At 10 quid, this'd probably score in the mid 70s. Shame. [Jan 2011, p.96]
